Progress in the chemistry of 4‐ thiazolidinones

This review article includes a recent development in the chemistry of 4‐thiazolidinones. Structure, basicity, synthetic aspects, reactions, and applications were also reported.     

The stereoselective synthesis of e‐1,2‐bis(3‐indolizinyl)ethylenes by the reactions of 3‐thioformylindolizines with n‐tributylphosphine

3‐Thioformylindolizines undergo novel reductive coupling reaction in the presence of tributylphosphine to give E‐1,2‐bis(3‐indolizinyl)ethylenes in high yield. These reactions proceed via (3‐indolizinyl)methylene carbene intermediate and provide a new, stereoselective synthesis of the bis(3‐indolizinyl)ethylene derivatives highly.     

Simple and efficient one‐pot synthesis of 3,4‐dihydro‐2‐pyridones via solid‐supported Bi(III)nitrate catalyzed double michael addition‐azaannulation

4‐Aryl‐5‐carboethoxy‐6‐methyl‐2,3‐dihydro‐2‐pyridones were obtained, in high yield, by heating ternary mixtures of appropriate aldehydes, ethylacetoacetate and compounds possessing NH₂‐C=X functionality, in presence of immobilized Bi(III)nitrate and co‐catalyst Zn(II)chloride, under solventless conditions. The reaction proceeds smoothly at 140±5°C and seems to involve double Michael addition‐azaannulation.     

An efficient synthesis of highly substituted pyrrole and bis pyrrole derivatives

An efficient synthesis of highly substituted pyrrole and bis pyrrole derivatives is reported.     

Cycloaddition reactions with 2,3‐benzodiazepine derivatives

We report here on some 3+2 dipolar cycloaddition reactions of propargyl, allyl and cyano substituted 2,3‐benzodiazepines with in situ generated nitrile oxides and diazomethane. The reactivity of carbon‐nitrogen double bonds of the 5H‐[2,3]benzodiazepine ring system was also noticed.
