Azulene‐substituted pyridines and pyridinium salts. Synthesis and structure. 1. Azulene‐substituted pyridines

4‐Azulen‐1‐yl substituted 2,6‐dimethyl‐and 2,6‐diphenyl‐pyridines are obtained in good yields from the reaction of corresponding 4‐azulen‐1‐yl‐pyranylium salts and ammonium acetate in ethanol or starting from 4‐chloro‐2,6‐diphenyl‐pyranylium salts in two steps: reaction with azulenes followed by in situ treatment with ammonium acetate. The effect of substitution at the 3‐position of the heterocycle was taken into account. The structure assignment was accomplished with NMR and uv‐vis spectra.     

Synthesis of a new class of bisheterocycles from phenacylsulfonylacetic acid methyl ester

Novel bisheterocycles, 1,2,3‐selenadiazoles, thiadiazoles and 2H‐diazaphospholes in combination with oxadiazoles, thiadiazoles and triazoles were prepared from phenacylsulfonylacetic acid methyl ester.

A rapid microwave‐accelerated thionation of some 3‐substitued isocoumarins to corresponding 1‐thio‐isocoumarins was achieved employing Lawesson's reagent under solventless conditions.

An efficient synthesis of highly substituted pyrrole and bis pyrrole derivatives is reported.     

A new method for the synthesis of bicyclic pyran acetals

cis‐Fused bicyclic acetals were obtained from the unusual cyclization reaction between diols and dihydropyran. Furothiopyran, substituted pyranopyrans, and pyranooxepine and pyranobenzoxepine compounds were obtained with high diastereoselectivity and cis‐diastereomers were obtained in high yields.     

A novel synthesis of cyclopropyl lactam and amide from cis‐2‐aryl‐3‐benzoyl‐1,1‐dicynocyclopropane with H2O2 in the presence of NaHCO3

The process for preparation of cyclopropyl lactam and amide from cis‐2‐aryl‐3‐benzoyl‐1,1‐dicynocyclopropane with H₂O₂ in the Presence of NaHCO₃ is described. The highly stereoselective conversion of monocyano group to amide has been carried out in the present method.     

Synthesis of highly functionalized 2‐(substituted biphenyl) benzimidzoles via suzuki‐miyaura cross coupling reaction

A facile and convenient method for the synthesis of highly functionalized 2‐(substitutedbiphenyl) based benzimidazoles has been reported by the application of Suzuki‐Miyaura cross coupling reaction.     

Sulfonic acid functionalized silica as an efficient heterogeneous recyclable catalyst for one‐pot synthesis of 2‐substituted benziimidazoles

An efficient one‐pot synthesis of 2‐substituted benzimidazoles from o‐phenylenediamine and aldehydes in the presence of sulfonic acid functionalized silica at room temperature is reported.
