A series of new D-pi-A conjugated dendrimers based on benzothiadiazole and triphenylamine were developed via facile synthetic approaches. By changing the types of bridges between the different functional moieties of these dendrimers, their photophysical properties, especially the intramolecular energy transfer process, were effectively modulated.  相似文献

Nonconjugated dendrimers, which are capable of funneling energy from the periphery to the core followed by a charge-transfer process from the core to the periphery, have been synthesized. The energy and electron donors involve a diarylaminopyrene unit and are incorporated at the periphery of these dendrimers. The energy and electron acceptor is at the core of the dendrimer, which involves a chromophore based on a benzthiadiazole moiety. The backbone of the dendrimers is benzyl ether based. A direct electron-transfer quenching of the excited state of the periphery or a sequential energy transfer-electron-transfer pathway are the two limiting mechanisms of the observed photophysical properties. We find that the latter mechanism is prevalent in these dendrimers. The energy transfer occurs on a picosecond time scale, while the charge-transfer process occurs on a nanosecond time scale. The lifetime of the charge separated species was found to be in the range of microseconds. Energy transfer efficiencies ranging from 80% to 90% were determined using both steady-state and time-resolved measurements, while charge-transfer efficiencies ranging from 70% to 80% were deduced from fluorescence quenching of the core chromophore. The dependence of the energy and charge-transfer processes on dendrimer generation is analyzed in terms of the backfolding of the flexible benzyl ether backbone, which leads to a weaker dependence of the energy and charge-transfer efficiencies on dendrimer size than would be expected for a rigid system.  相似文献

We have applied the fluorescence upconversion technique to explore the electronic excitation energy transfer in unsymmetrical phenylene ethynylene dendrimers. Steady-state emission spectra show that the energy transfer from the dendrons to the core is highly efficient. Ultrafast time-resolved fluorescence measurements are performed at various excitation wavelengths to explore the possibility of assigning absorption band structures to exciton localizations. We propose a kinetic model to describe the time-resolved data. Independent of the excitation wavelength, a typical rise-time value of 500 fs is measured for the fluorescence in the dendrimer without an energy trap, indicating initial delocalized excitation. While absorption is into delocalized exciton states, emission occurs from localized states. When an energy trap such as perylene is introduced on the dendrimer, varying the excitation wavelength yields different energy-transfer rates, and the excitation energy migrates to the trap through two channels. The interaction energy between the dendrimer backbone and the trap is estimated to be 75 cm(-1). This value is small compared to the vibronic bandwidth of the dendrimer, indicating that the monodendrons and the energy trap are weakly coupled.  相似文献

Ferrocene-cored unsymmetric and symmetric arylalkyl ether dendrimers based on an AB2 monomer (3,5-dihydroxybenzyl alcohol) were prepared. Their electrochemical properties were compared with the unsymmetric and symmetric ferrocene-cored dendrimers based on a relatively rigid and three-dimensionally disposed AB4 monomer. The thermodynamics and kinetics of heterogeneous electron transfer in these dendrimers show that G2n of AB2 dendrimers behave similar to Gn of AB4 dendrimers. For example, the redox reaction shows significant irreversibility especially at higher scan rates in the case of G4 didendron based on AB2 monomer and G2 didendron based on AB4 monomer. Despite the fact that AB4 building blocks are more rigid, the effective encapsulation in both these dendrimers are similar. This result is attributed to the three dimensional disposition of the branching points in the AB4 monomer.  相似文献

Temperature-dependent 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy over the interval 89 < T < 335 K has been used to study the detailed metal atom dynamics in the charge transfer complex (CT) decamethlferrocene-acenaphthenequinone. The quadrupole splitting, area ratio and recoil-free fraction parameters clearly reflect the phase transition (Tpt) at 257 K. The root-mean-square-amplitude of vibrations of the metal atom in the CT complex have been compared to that determined earlier for decamethyl ferrocene. The vibrational amplitudes are isotropic below Tpt but anisotropic above this temperature.  相似文献

Y6 (BTP-4F) is one of the novel non-fullerene acceptors and its photo-physics significantly affects the efficiency of organic solar cells. Here, the photo-induced energy and charge transfer (CT) dynamics in four typical dimers (Y, C, S1, and S2)-TYPE from Y6 films are revealed by combining electronic structure theory calculations, rate theories, and quantum dynamics simulations. The rate theories show that in ground-state CT processes the Y-TYPE is bipolar with the largest rate among all dimers, and in excitation energy transfer the triplet rates are about 105 smaller than the singlet ones, however, the singlet rates can reach 1013s−1, which may lead to the rate theories invalid. The stochastic Schrödinger equation based on the diabatic Hamiltonian is thus adopted to reveal excited-state dynamics. The results show that three of the four dimers are H-aggregate except for S1-TYPE with J-aggregate property. However, these J/H-aggregate properties are excited-state dependent, for instance, the Y-TYPE becomes J-aggregate in the second excited-state. Furthermore, CT states are strongly mixed with the first two excited states, which can dramatically impact the energy transfer. Indeed, the dynamic simulations clarify that the excited-state energy relaxation mediated by CT states can be performed in the first 20 fs, and the CT-state population is even non-negligible in the quasi-stationary distribution.  相似文献

We have studied the photodissociation and recombination dynamics of the diatomic anions X(2)(-) and XY(-) designed to mimic I(2)(-) and ICl(-), respectively, by using a one-electron model in size-selected N(2)O clusters. The one-electron model is composed of two nuclei and an extra electron moving in a two-dimensional plane including the two nuclei. The main purpose of this study is to explain the salient features of various dynamical processes of molecular ions in clusters using a simple theoretical model. For heteronuclear diatomic anions, a mass disparity and asymmetric electron affinity between the X and Y atoms lead to different phenomena from the homonuclear case. The XY(-) anion shows efficient recombination for a smaller cluster size due to the effect of collision-mediated energy transfer and an inherent potential wall on excited state at asymptotic region, while the recombination for the X(2)(-) anion is due to rearrangement of solvent configuration and faster nonadiabatic transitions. The results of the present study illustrate the microscopic details of the electronically nonadiabatic processes which control the photodissociation dynamics of molecular ions in clusters.  相似文献

Fluorescence spectroscopy and femtosecond relaxation dynamics of 2-{[2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)benzo[d]oxazol-6-yl]methylene}malononitrile (diCN-HBO) and 2-{[2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)benzo[d]thiazol-6-yl]methylene}malononitrile (diCN-HBT) are studied to probe the excited-state proton transfer (ESPT) coupled charge transfer (ESCT) reaction. Unlike most of the ESPT/ESCT systems previously designed, in which ESCT takes place prior to ESPT, both diCN-HBO and diCN-HBT undergo ESPT, concomitantly accompanied with the charge transfer process, such that the ESPT reaction dynamics are directly coupled with solvent polarization effects. The long-range solvent polarization interactions result in a solvent-induced barrier that affects the overall proton transfer reaction rate. In cyclohexane, the rate constant of ESPT of diCN-HBO is measured to be 1.1 ps (9.1 x 10(11) s(-1)), which is apparently slower than that of 150 fs for the parent molecule 2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)benzoxazole (HBO). Upon increasing solvent polarity to, for example, CH 3CN, the rate of ESPT is increased to 300 fs (3.3 x 10(12) s(-1)). The results are rationalized by the stabilization of proton transfer tautomer, which possesses a large degree of charge transfer character via an increase of the solvent polarity, such that the corresponding solvent-induced barrier is reduced. We thus demonstrate a prototypical system in which the photon-induced nuclear motion (proton transfer) is directly coupled with solvent polarization and the corresponding mechanism is reminiscent of that applied in an electron transfer process.  相似文献

A series of benzophenone (BP) and naphthalene (NA) labeled poly(aryl ether) dendrimers (BP-Gn-NA), generations 1-4, were synthesized, and their photophysical properties were examined. Flash photolysis demonstrates that the triplet energy in BP-Gn-NA can be transferred from the peripheral BP chromophores to the core NA group with the efficiencies of ca. 0.97, 0.96, 0.88, and 0.54 and with the rate constants of 1.4x10(8), 1.2x10(8), 9.5x10(7), and 1.3x10(7) s-1 at room temperature for generations 1-4, respectively. The transient absorption spectra of BP-Gn-NA show clearly the formation of the triplet NA absorption along with the decay of the triplet BP one with an isosbestic point at 475 nm, which gives direct evidence of the triplet energy transfer from the periphery BP chromphores to the core NA group. The phosphorescence of the NA group attached to the focal point was observed when the periphery BP chromophores were selectively irradiated in BP-G1-NA at 77 K. The triplet energy transfer occurs at 77 K with the efficiencies of 1.0, 0.16, 0.17, and 0.21 for generations 1-4, respectively. The intramolecular triplet energy transfer is proposed to proceed mainly via a through space mechanism.  相似文献

The photo-induced charge transfer in four series of Prussian blue (PB) analogues was studied from photoacoustic spectra. In cobalticyanides the observed signals were assigned to a metal-to-ligand charge transfer, which appears as a shoulder below 450 nm, and to d-d transitions for Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complex salts. No evidence of metal-to-metal charge transfer was observed for this series, which is probably due to the high stability of low spin cobalt(III) in the hexacyanide complex. Photoacoustic spectra for ferricyanides are broad bands, which result particularly intense up to 750 nm. Such features were attributed to the overlapping of contributions from metal-to-ligand (<600 nm) and metal-to-metal charge transfer transitions, with probably also a minor contribution from d-d transitions in the outer metal. The spectra for the ferrocyanides series are dominated by the metal-to-ligand charge transfer band below 550 nm, approximately 100 nm above this transition in cobalticyanides. Within the studied solids, the most intense and broad metal-to-metal charge transfer bands were found for a series of low spin Co(III) high spin Co(II) hexacyanoferrates(II,III) and with similar features also for ferric ferrocyanide (Prussian blue), assigned to Fe(II)-->Co(III) and Fe(II)-->Fe(III) photo-induced transition, respectively. The first of these transitions requires of more energetic photons to be observed, its maximum falls at 580 nm while for Prussian blue it is found at 670 nm. Prussian blue analogues are usually obtained as nanometric size particles and many of them have a microporous structure. The role of surface atoms on the observed charge transfer bands in the studied series of compounds is also discussed.  相似文献

A series of benzophenone (BP) and norbornadiene (NBD)-labeled poly(aryl ether) dendrimers (Gn-NBD), generations 1-4, were synthesized, and their photophysical and photochemical properties were examined. The phosphorescence of the peripheral BP (donor) chromophore was efficiently quenched by the NBD (acceptor) group attached to the focal point. Time-resolved spectroscopic measurements indicated that the lifetime of the triplet state of the BP chromophore was shortened due to the proximity of the NBD group. Selective excitation of the BP chromophore resulted in isomerization of the NBD group to quadricyclane (QC). All of these observations suggest that an intramolecular triplet energy transfer occurs in Gn-NBD molecules. The light-harvesting ability of these molecules increases with generation due to an increase in the number of peripheral chromophores. The energy transfer efficiencies are ca. 0.97, 0.54, 0.45, and 0.37 for generations 1-4, respectively, and the rate constant of the triplet-triplet energy transfer is ca. 10(6)-10(7) s(-1), which decreases inconspicuously with increasing generation. The intramolecular triplet energy transfer is proposed to proceed mainly via a through-space mechanism involving the closest donor (folding back conformation) and acceptor groups.  相似文献

The spectroscopic properties of complexes between benzo-15-crown-5 and europium and terbium nitrates, thiocyanates and perchlorates were investigated. The ligand fluorescence quantum yield in all the complexes is less than that of the uncomplexed crown ether, and in the complexes with terbium salts this quenching is accompanied by a sensitized emission from the metal ion. An intramolecular energy transfer from the excited singlet of the ligand to the metal ion is suggested to explain the emission from the metal ion. It is proposed that the charge transfer states associated with the lanthanide salts compete with the metal ion for the intramolecular transfer of excitation, and that this is important for the nitrate and thiocyanate complexes.  相似文献

In this paper, we report the synthesis of several poly(propyl ether imine) dendrons and dendrimers. These dendrons and dendrimers were constructed by involving an ether as the linker component and an imine as the branching component. The divergent syntheses of dendrons and dendrimers were established with the aid of two alternate Michael addition reactions and two alternate reduction reactions in a four-step iterative synthetic sequence. Dendrons up to three generations were synthesized and some of the dendrons were attached to a benzenoid core so as to obtain dendrimers up to two generations containing 12 carboxylic acids at the periphery. Divergent synthesis involving ether as the core was found to be more facile, and dendrimers up to three generations having 16 carboxylic acids at the periphery were achieved in good to excellent yields in each individual step. The adopted synthetic sequence allows us to install either alcohol, an amine, or a carboxylic acid at their peripheries. The carboxylic acid-terminated dendrons and dendrimers were evaluated as to their cytotoxic properties, and while most dendrons and dendrimers did not exhibit any measurable cytotoxicity, even up to 100 microg/mL, the second-generation dendrimer with the benzenoid core exhibited a mild toxicity at concentrations above 30 microg/mL.  相似文献

The two-photon ionization (TPI) process (308 and 266 nm) of stilbene dendrimers having a stilbene core and benzyl ether type dendrons has been investigated in an acetonitrile and 1,2-dichloroethane mixture (3:1) in order to elucidate the dendrimer effects. The quantum yield of the formation of stilbene core radical cation during the 308-nm TPI was independent of the dendron generation of the dendrimers, whereas a generation dependence of the quantum yield of the radical cation was observed during the 266-nm TPI, where both the stilbene core and benzyl ether type dendron were ionized, suggesting that the subsequent hole transfer occurs from the dendron to the stilbene core, and that the dendron acts as a hole-harvesting antenna. The neutralization rate of the stilbene core radical cation with the chloride ion, generated from the dissociative electron capture by 1,2-dichloroethane, decreased with the increase in the dendrimer generation, suggesting that the dendron is an effective shield of the stilbene core radical cation against the chloride ion.  相似文献

Intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) was studied on a series of magnesium, metal-free and zinc complexes of unsymmetrical tetrapyrazinoporphyrazines and tribenzopyrazinoporphyrazines bearing two dialkylamino substituents (donors) and six alkylsulfanyl or aryloxy substituents (non-donors). The dialkylamino substituents were responsible for ICT that deactivated excited states and led to considerable decrease of fluorescence and singlet oxygen quantum yields. Photophysical and photochemical properties were compared to corresponding macrocycles that do not bear any donor centers. The data showed high feasibility of ICT in the tetrapyrazinoporphyrazine macrocycle and significantly lower efficiency of this deactivation process in the tribenzopyrazinoporphyrazine type molecules. Considerable effect of non-donor peripheral substituents on ICT was also described. The results imply that tetrapyrazinoporphyrazines may be more suitable for development of new molecules investigated in applications based on ICT.  相似文献

The ionic environment within solutions of lithium perchlorate-diethyl ether (LPDE) was probed by utilizing the extraordinary spectral shifts these media impart on various nitroanilines at 25 degrees C. These compounds all have UV-visible spectra that are sensitive to the polarity of the medium and the nitroanilines investigated all exhibited varying degrees of solvatochromatic behavior in LPDE solutions. In all cases, the low-energy absorbance band exhibited a dependence upon LiClO(4) concentration throughout the entire solubility range investigated. For 4-nitroaniline and N,N-dimethyl-4-nitroaniline bathochromic shifts of 51.3 and 62.0 nm, respectively, were observed on going from pure ether to a 5.7 M LPDE solution, corresponding to a stabilization of 10.55 and 11.13 kcal mol(-1), respectively, for this transition. Thus, as the medium changes from diethyl ether to one containing ionic clusters of lithium perchlorate-diethyl ether, less energy is required to transfer the molecules from their ground states to their first excited states. For 2,6-dibromo- and 2,6-diiodo-4-nitroaniline smaller red shifts of 19.0 and 9.0 nm, respectively, were noted over the same concentration range of LPDE, resulting in stabilizations of 4.45 and 2.11 kcal mol(-1), respectively. Analysis of the observed molar transition energies indicates that for 4-nitroaniline and N,N-dimethyl-4-nitroaniline the stabilization of the zwitterionic excited states of such push-pull molecules is on the order of 2.0 kcal mol(-1) per mol of added salt. Furthermore, such stabilization is independent of the composition of the media. Thus these compounds can act as solvent polarity indicators for LPDE solutions throughout the entire solubility range of LiClO(4) in diethyl ether. As such, linear relationships are seen between the E(T) values of 4-nitroaniline and N,N-dimethyl-4-nitroaniline and the log of the second-order rate constants for the [4+2] cycloaddition reaction of 9,10-dimethylanthracene and acrylonitrile in LPDE. We also observe linear relationships between the E(T) values of 4-nitroaniline and N,N-dimethyl-4-nitroaniline and the keto-enol ratio of acetylacetone in LPDE.  相似文献

Donor-acceptor blends based on conjugated polymers are the heart of state-of-the-art polymer solar cells, and the control of the blend morphology is crucial for their efficiency. As the film morphology can inherit the polymer conformational state from solution, the approaches for probing and controlling the polymer conformational state in the blends are of high importance. In this study, we show that the macromolecular dynamics in solutions of the archetypical conjugated polymer, MEH-PPV, is essentially changed upon addition of an acceptor 2,4,7-trinitrofluorenone (TNF) by using dynamic light scattering (DLS). We have observed four new types of the macromolecular dynamics absent in the parent polymer determined by the polymer and acceptor content. The MEH-PPV?:?TNF ground-state charge-transfer complex (CTC) is suggested to result in these dynamics. In the dilute polymer solution, the CTC formation leads to slower dynamics as compared with the pristine polymer. This is evidence of aggregates formed by intercoil links that are the CTCs involving two conjugated segments of different coils with acceptor molecules being sandwiched between them. At low acceptor content, the aggregates are not stable but at high acceptor content, they are. In the semidilute solution at low acceptor content, the dynamics becomes faster as compared with the pristine polymer that is explained by confinement of the coupled motions of entangled polymer chains. At high acceptor content, the dynamics is far much slower with a characteristic long-range correlation at the scale 3-5 μm that is explained by aggregation of polymer chains in clusters. One can expect that the DLS technique could become a useful tool to study the nano- and microstructure of donor-acceptor conjugated polymer blends to achieve controllable morphology in the corresponding blend films.  相似文献

This paper reports the structure and dynamics of a twisted intermolecular charge transfer molecule 2-(4-(dimethylamino) styryl)-1-methylpyridinium iodide (o-DASPMI) included inside alpha-, beta- and gamma-cyclodextrin, investigated by using steady state and time-resolved emission spectroscopy and also theoretical modeling. A nice 1 : 1 inclusion complex with beta-CD in the excited state could be found with the dimethylamino group of the molecule sticking out as revealed from steady state and time-resolved emission. The inclusion complex has a longer decay time compared to that in neat water. Time-resolved anisotropy decay has been used to study the rotational dynamics of the molecule inside cyclodextrin cavity. The average angular structure of the inclusion complex as found from semiempirical PM3 calculations corroborates excellently the experimental results of angular orientation in beta-CD. The minimum energy of the complex is found to be nearly 5 A in the length of the molecule with the dimethylamino part sticking out in the bulk water. Hydrogen bonding at the rim hinders the inclusion complex of o-DASPMI in gamma-CD and instead it produces association at the rim. Hydrogen bond breaker urea breaks the bonding of o-DASPMI with the rim of gamma-CD and the formation of inclusion complex with gamma-CD ensues.  相似文献
