A discrete model of an elastic pendulum with a follower force is studied. This model is an inverted mathematical two-link pendulum with viscoelastic hinges. It is shown that divergent bifurcations are possible for some absolute values of the follower force and the stiffness of the restraint of the pendulum's upper end. As a result, the vertical position of the equilibrium becomes unstable and two new nonvertical stable equilibrium states (fork bifurcation) occur.  相似文献

Local and global bifurcations in the motion of a double pendulum subjected to a follower force have been studied when the follower force and the springs at the joints have structural asymmetries. The bifurcations of the system are examined in the neighborhood of double zero eigenvalues. Applying the center manifold and the normal form theorem to a four-dimensional governing equation, we finally obtain a two-dimensional equation with three unfolding parameters. The local bifurcation boundaries can be obtained for the criteria for the pitchfork and the Hopf bifurcation. The Melnikov theorem is used to find the global bifurcation boundaries for appearance of a homoclinic orbit and coalescence of two limit cycles. Numerical simulation was performed using the original four-dimensional equation to confirm the analytical prediction.  相似文献

We study the plane motion of a double pendulum with fixed suspension point. The pendulum is controlled by a single moment applied to the internal hinge between the links. The moment is assumed to be bounded in absolute value. We construct a feedback control law bringing the pendulum from the position in which both links hang vertically downwards into the unstable upper position in which both links are inverted. The same feedback ensures the asymptotic stability of the pendulum in the upper equilibrium position. Since the pendulum can be brought to the lower equilibrium position from any initial states, it follows that the constructed control law ensures the global stability of the inverted pendulum.  相似文献

The non-conservative stability of non-uniform columns under the combined action of concentrated and variably distributed forces is solved analytically. Two types of follower force system are considered: (i) concentrated follower forces and variably distributed follower forces, (ii) concentrated follower forces and variably distributed conservative forces. The exact solutions for stability of four kinds of one-step non-uniform columns subjected to the two types of follower force system are derived for the first time. Then a new exact approach, which combines the exact solutions of one-step columns and the transfer matrix method, is presented for the non-conservative stability analysis of multi-step non-uniform columns. The advantage of the proposed method is that the resulting eigenvalue equation for a multi-step non-uniform column with any kinds of two end support configurations, an arbitrary number of spring supports and concentrated masses can be conveniently determined from a second order determinant. The decrease in the determinant order, as compared with previously developed procedures, leads to significant savings in the computational effort. A numerical example shows that the results obtained from the proposed method are in good agreement with those determined from the finite element method (FEM), but the proposed method takes less computational time than FEM.  相似文献

The loss of stability of the equilibrium position of a double pendulum with follower force loading and elastic end support is studied. At a special parameter combination the linearized system is characterized by a zero root and a pure imaginary pair of eigenvalues. Therefore, the stability problem is a complicated critical case in the sense of Liapunov and requires a non-linear analysis. A complete post-bifurcation investigation of the coupled divergence and flutter motions is given by means of centre manifold theory, and bifurcation diagrams. Among the different types of motions even the appearance of chaotic behavior is shown.  相似文献

An electromagnetic parametrically excited rolling pendulum energy harvester with self-tuning mechanisms subject to multi-frequency excitation is proposed and investigated in this paper. The system consists of two uncoupled rolling pendulum. The resonance frequency of each the rolling pendulum can be automatically tuned by adjusting its geometric parameters to access parametric resonance. This harvester can be used to harvest the energy at low frequency. A prototype is developed and evaluated. Its mathematical model is derived. A cam with rolling follower mechanism is employed to generate multi-frequency excitation. An experimental study is conducted to validate the proposed concept. The experimental results are confirmed by the numerical results. The harvester is successfully tuned when the angular velocity of the cam is changed from 1.149 to 1.236 Hz.  相似文献
