We consider analytic properties of a class of dynamical systems which are defined by the action of certain homomorphism groups on von Neumann algebras if restricted to subalgebras. In particular, the analyticity of nuclear maps in the nuclear norm is shown. Furthermore, the statistical independence will be derived from nuclearity conditions. Generalized nuclearity conditions that are applicable in arbitrary superselection sectors of a quantum field theory and to theories with a maximal temperature are discussed. I discuss cosmological particle production in spaces with spectral asymmetry. A change in the amount of spectral symmetry sufficient to produce a level crossing will result in the creation of neutrino pairs rather than neutrino, antineutrino pairs; the net excess of fermions being given by the number of level crossing. A symmetric Bianchi IX model is treated in detail and for large initial anisotropy the number of neutrinos produced is (1256) exp 12β+ where β+ is a measure of the initial anisotropy. The relation of this phenomenon to chiral anomalies and to the Atiyah-Patodi-Singer index theorem for manifolds with boundary is described. The effect of spectral asymmetry on photons is discussed and it is shewn that no level crossing can occur.  相似文献

We propose a general formulation of simplicial lattice gauge theory inspired by the finite element method. Numerical tests of convergence towards continuum results are performed for several SU(2) gauge fields. Additionally, we perform simplicial Monte Carlo quantum gauge field simulations involving measurements of the action as well as differently sized Wilson loops as functions of β.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of a braided group. This is analogous to a supergroup with Bose-Fermi statistics ±1 replaced by braid statistics. We show that every algebraic quantum field theory in two dimensions leads to a braided group of internal symmetries. Every quantum group can be viewed as a braided group.  相似文献

Given a half-sided modular standard inclusion (N , ) of von-Neumann algebras which is conormal, we construct a chiral conformal quantum field theory on the circle. Quantum field theory predicts a number of unusual physical effects in non-Minkowskian manifolds (flat or curved) that have no immediate analogs in Minkowski spacetime. The following examples are reviewed: (1) The Casimir effect; (2) Radiation from accelerating conductors; (3) Particle production in manifolds with horizons, including both stationary black holes and black holes formed by collapse. In the latter examples curvature couples directly to matter through the stress tensor and induces the creation of real particles. However, it also induces serious divergences in the vacuum stress. These divergences are analyzed, and methods for handling them are reviewed.  相似文献

The Thomas-Fermi theory for electrons and fixed nuclei in a homogeneous magnetic field is shown to be a limit of quantum mechanics in the following sense: If the nuclear charges and the number of eletrons are multiplied by a, and the magnetic field by a 4/3, then the ground-state energy, divided by a 7/3, converges to the TF energy when a . A similar result holds also for the electronic density. This generalizes corresponding theorems for zero magnetic field due to Lieb, Simon, and Baumgartner.  相似文献

Starting from a Lie group G whose Lie algebra is equipped with an invariant nondegenerate symmetric bilinear form, we show that four-dimensional BF theory with cosmological term gives rise to a TQFT satisfying a generalization of Atiyah's axioms to manifolds equipped with principal G-bundle. The case G=GL(4,) is especially interesting because every 4-manifold is then naturally equipped with a principal G-bundle, namely its frame bundle. In this case, the partition function of a compact oriented 4-manifold is the exponential of its signature, and the resulting TQFT is isomorphic to that constructed by Crane and Yetter using a state sum model, or by Broda using a surgery presentation of four-manifolds.  相似文献

For a family of von Neumann algebras, we investigate the relations between spectrum condition, half-sided modular inclusion, and reflection symmetry. It is shown that the geometric interpretation of modular actions puts strong restrictions on the family.  相似文献
