Analytical expressions for the magnetization and the longitudinal conductivity of nanowires are derived in a magnetic field, B. We show that the interplay between size and magnetic field energy-level quantizations manifests itself through novel magnetic quantum oscillations in metallic nanowires. There are three characteristic frequencies of de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) and Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) oscillations, F = F(0)/(1 + gamma)(3/2), and F(+/-) = 2F(0)/|1 + gamma +/- (1 + gamma)(1/2)|, in contrast with a single frequency F(0) = S(F)plankc/(2pie) in simple bulk metals. The amplitude of oscillations is strongly enhanced in some magic magnetic fields. The wire cross-section area S can be measured using the oscillations as S = 4pi(2)S(F)plank(2)c(2)/(gammae(2)B(2)) along with the Fermi-surface cross-section area, S(F).  相似文献

Employing an 800 MeV, high-intensity proton beam, the LSND experiment performed a sensitive search for neutrino oscillations and obtained evidence for flavor change. Although the KARMEN experiment observed no such evidence, a joint analysis of the two experiments shows that the data sets are compatible with neutrino oscillations occurring either in a band from 0.2 to 1 eV 2 or in a region around 7 eV 2. The MiniBooNE experiment at Fermilab was designed to test the LSND evidence for neutrino oscillations [C. Athanassopoulos et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 75, 2650 (1995); 77, 3082 (1996); 81, 1774 (1998); A. Aguilar et al., Phys. Rev. D 64, 112007 (2001)]. The MiniBooNE oscillation result in neutrino mode [A. Aguilar-Arevalo et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 231801 (2007); A. Aguilar-Arevalo et al. arXiv:0812.2243] shows no significant excess of events at higher energies (), although a sizeable excess is observed at lower energies (). The lack of a significant excess at higher energies allows MiniBooNE to rule out simple 2−ν oscillations as an explanation of the LSND signal. However, the low-energy excess is presently unexplained. Additional antineutrino data and NuMI data may allow the collaboration to determine whether the excess is due, for example, to a neutrino neutral-current radiative interaction or to neutrino oscillations involving sterile neutrinos and whether the excess is related to the LSND signal. If the excess is consistent with being due to sterile neutrinos or other new physics, then future experiments at FNAL (MicroBooNE & BooNE) or ORNL (OscSNS) or with the Low-Energy Neutrino Spectrometer (LENS) detector could confirm their existence.  相似文献

We propose a new concept of localized surface plasmon polariton (SPP) mode excitation in a spherical nanoparticle, which utilizes a collective mechanism of dissipative instability in an adjacent 2D plasma carrying a DC electric current. We show that 2D DC current becomes unstable at optical frequencies when the drift velocity exceeds the speed of sound in the 2D plasma. Dissipative instability emerges as a result of self-consistent 2D plasma oscillations coupled to the electromagnetic modes of the nanosphere, the material of which is absorbing at given frequency (i.e., the dielectric permittivity Imε > 0), and instability is absent in the case of transparent material. We derive the dispersion equation for this dissipative instability by a self-consistent solution of the Maxwell equations for the electromagnetic modes and the hydrodynamic equations for the 2D plasma current. Our estimates demonstrate attainment of very high instability increments Imω ~ 1015 s?1, which makes the proposed concept very promising for excitation of plasmonic nanoantennas.  相似文献

Using of data collected with the CLEO-c detector, we report on first observations and measurements of Cabibbo-suppressed decays of D mesons in the following six decay modes: pi+ pi- pi0 pi0, pi+ pi+ pi- pi- pi0, pi+ pi0 pi0, pi+ pi+ pi- pi0, eta pi0, and omega pi+ pi-. Improved branching fraction measurements in eight other multipion decay modes are also presented. The measured D --> pi pi rates allow us to extract the ratio of isospin amplitudes A(DeltaI = (3/2) / A(DeltaI = (1/2)) = 0.420 +/- 0.014(stat) +/- 0.016(syst) and the strong phase shift of delta1 = (86.4 +/- 2.8 +/- 3.3) degrees, which is quite large and now more precisely determined.  相似文献

Incoherent-inelastic neutron scattering data are obtained from 5-80 K for high-density amorphous (hda) ice in the region 0-135 cm(-1). An excess contribution to the vibrational density of states is identified near 20 cm(-1). The origin of these vibrations has been identified by lattice dynamics calculations on an "experimental" structure derived from reverse Monte Carlo analysis of hda ice neutron diffraction data. An interpretation that localized oscillations of short chains and isolated water molecules are responsible for the excess low-frequency modes is consistent with our data.  相似文献

The theory on the relative intensities of CO stretching bands of metal carbonyl compounds of C4v symmetry has been advanced by orgel, inter alios. 2 For complexes of formula M(CO)5Xn [a = -1, 0), three infrared active bands are expected, 2A1 + E. The two A1 bands consist of modes which are predominantly vibration of the CO trans to X (A1 (1)) and the symmetrical stretch of the four equatorial CO's (A1 (2)). The A1 (2) band is nearly forbidden, and owes its intensity to the contribution of the axial CO stretch to the normal mode. The end result of this coupling between axial and radial CO stretching symmetry modes would appear to be an aid in assigning the bands in the carbonyl stretching region to the appropriate symmetry modes; the relative intensities are weak (A1 (2)), strong (E), and medium (A1 (1)) Although this weak-strong-medium pattern is invariably observed in the spectra of  相似文献

Using data collected near the D{s}{*+}D{s}{-} peak production energy E_{cm}=4170 MeV by the CLEO-c detector, we study the decays of D{s}{+} mesons to two pseudoscalar mesons. We report on searches for the singly Cabibbo-suppressed D{s}{+} decay modes K{+}eta, K{+}eta', pi{+}K{S}{0}, K{+}pi{0}, and the isospin-forbidden decay mode D{s}{+}-->pi{+}pi{0}. We normalize with respect to the Cabibbo-favored D{s}{+} modes pi{+}eta, pi{+}eta', and K{+}K{S}{0}, and obtain ratios of branching fractions: B(D{s}{+}-->K{+}eta)/B(D{s}{+}-->pi{+}eta)=(8.9+/-1.5+/-0.4)%, B(D{s}{+}-->K{+}eta')/B(D{s}{+}-->pi{+}eta')=(4.2+/-1.3+/-0.3)%, B(D{s}{+}-->pi{+}K{S}{0})/B(D{s}{+}-->K{+}K{S}{0})=(8.2+/-0.9+/-0.2)%, B(D{s}{+}-->K{+}pi{0})/B(D{s}{+}-->K{+}K{S}{0})=(5.5+/-1.3+/-0.7)%, and B(D{s}{+}-->pi{+}pi{0})/B(D{s}{+}-->K{+}K{S}{0})<4.1% at 90% C.L., where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.  相似文献

Conclusions The estimates made in this paper show that in a resonator with longitudinal channels in the wall and an axisymmetrical absorbing rod, a Q factor of the fundmental oscillations with azimuthal index mo, equal to a multiple of the number of channels, exceeding the Q factors of other oscillations with azimuthal indices mmo, is achieved. The maximum azimuthal index mo of the fundamental oscillations with radial index po=1 is limited by the value of the Q factor (moQo/2). For po=2, the optimum number of channels, ensuring that the Q factor of the fundamental oscillation exceeds the Q factors of the competing oscillations, formed by the coupled modes with radial indices ps=2 (Fig. 3, curve 5), is greater than in the case po=1 (Fig. 3, curve 4) by a factor of three. It should be noted, however, that in a resonator with fundamental oscillations, having po=2, characteristic oscillations with high Q factors, formed by coupled modes with different radial indices (ps=1, 2), can appear. The Lamb dip of CO rovibrational transition is detected by a room temperature extracavity RF optogalvanic cell and employed to stabilize the frequency of a CO laser. The S/N ratio of optogalvanic signal is about 2000  at optical power < 1 W. The relative depth of Lamb dip is 2.3%. The S/N ratios of first and third harmonic demodulated saturation signals are about 40  and 10  , respectively. The CO laser is stabilized using the first harmonic demodulated signal, and the frequency stability is better than 300 kHz. Concurrently, the influences of operational parameters, which include the coil current, partial pressures of gas mixture, are investigated. A simple model for the influence of coil current is presented, and further improvements are addressed as well.  相似文献

The influence of strong, two-dimensional (2D) periodic texture on the dispersion and lifetimes of resonant electromagnetic modes localized in the vicinity of thin (80 to 155 nm) GaAs membranes supported on thick (1 to 2 m) wet-oxidized AlAs cladding layers is reported. A method of extracting this information by fitting Fano-like features in broadband specular reflectivity spectra is described in detail, and applied to samples containing both triangular and square 2D lattices. A new and easier method of probing the properties of these modes is also demonstrated. It involves incorporating a superlattice of defects in the principal crystal lattice, and monitoring the defect diffraction spectrum, rather than the specular reflectivity.  相似文献

Spin oscillations and their phase synchronization are discovered in a spin 1D waveguide (nanowire) after the local injection of a spin-polarized current in the vertical (perpendicular) geometry of magnetization. The mode composition of nonlinear spin self-oscillations is analyzed for a single nano-oscillator using the effect of spin transfer torque with regard to spin wave runaway over the 1D waveguide and synchronized spin self-oscillations at current pumping by two nano-oscillators. It is shown specifically that, along with simple (“nontopological”) oscillation modes, in which singular points in the oscillation amplitude spatial distribution are absent, the 1D waveguide may support modes with pole-type singular points inside the current pumping domain, which are characteristic of the geometry of a precessing 2π-domain boundary. A diagram for frequency- and current-detuning-synchronized spin self-oscillations that are excited by two spin nano-oscillators in the 1D spin waveguide is constructed.  相似文献

We have searched for CP violation in the decays D(0)→K(S)(0)P(0) where P(0) denotes a neutral pseudoscalar meson that is either a π(0), η, or η' using KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 791 fb(-1) collected with the Belle detector. No evidence of significant CP violation is observed. We report the most precise CP asymmetry measurement in the decay D(0)→K(S)(0)π(0) to date: A(CP)(D(0)→K(S)(0)π(0))=(-0.28±0.19±0.10)%. We also report the first measurements of CP asymmetries in the decays D(0)→K(S)(0)η and D(0)→K(S)(0)η': A(CP)(D(0)→K(S)(0)η)=(+0.54±0.51±0.16)% and A(CP)(D(0)→K(S)(0)η')=(+0.98±0.67±0.14)%, respectively.  相似文献

以硝酸铕、苯乙酮酸(HE)、1,10-罗啉(phen)和三苯基氧膦(TPPO)合成了Eu—L,EuL3phen和EuL2(TPPO)2NO3三种新型固态配合物。用元素分析、电导率、红外光谱、核磁共振谱对配合物进行了表征,确定了三元配合物的组成。IR表明,苯乙酮酸与Eu^3+离子形成配合物后△v(vas(CO2^-)-vs(CO2))(△v(Eu—L)=391cm^-1;△v(EuL3phen)=389cm^-1;△v(EuL2(TPPO)2NO3)=402cm^-1)值均大于钠盐的△v(379cm^-1)值,配合物中羧酸根以单齿方式配位;配合物中苯乙酮酸的α-酮基参与配位,其红外吸收峰移向低波数。在^1H NMR中,苯乙酮酸苯环上5个氢原子的化学位移在形成配合物后移向高场。室温下测定了配合物的荧光激发光谱和发射光谱。激发光谱表明配合物Eu—L,EuL3phen和EuL2(TPPO)2NO3最佳激发波长分别为374.0,358.2和383.4nm。发射光谱显示Eu^3+离子的特征发射光谱。分别是^5D0-^7F0,^5D0-^7F1,^5D0-^7F2,^5D0-^7F3,^5D0-^7F4跃迁(Eu—L:577.8,590.2,614.0,648.4,695.4nm;EuL3phen:578.0,588.4,591.6,611.2,617.0,649.4,687.6,698.6nm;EuL2(TPPO)2NO3:577.8,590.4,614.6,649.2,697.6nm)。荧光光谱表明TPPO对Eu^3+离子的荧光发射有明显增强作用。  相似文献

We report studies of the Cabibbo-suppressed decay B+/--->D(CP)K+/-, where D(CP) denotes CP eigenstates of the D0-D0; system. The analysis is based on a 29.1 fb(-1) sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e(+)e(-) storage ring. We measure ratios of branching fractions, relative to Cabibbo-favored B+/--->D(CP)pi(+/-), of B(B--->D1K-)/B(B--->D1pi(-))=0.125+/-0.036+/-0.010 and B(B--->D2K-)/B(B--->D2pi(-))=0.119+/-0.028+/-0.006; the index 1 (2) denotes the CP=+1 (-1) eigenstate. We also extract the partial rate asymmetries for B+/--->D(CP)K+/-, finding A(1)=0.29+/-0.26+/-0.05 and A(2)=-0.22+/-0.24+/-0.04.  相似文献

We study the effects of vertical vibrations on non-wetting large water sessile drops flattened by gravity. The solid substrate is characterized by a finite contact angle hysteresis (10-15 degrees). By varying the frequency and the amplitude of the vertical displacement, we observe two types of oscillations. At low amplitude, the contact line remains pinned and the drop presents eigen modes at different resonance frequencies. At higher amplitude, the contact line moves: it remains circular but its radius oscillates at the excitation frequency. The transition between these two regimes arises when the variations of contact angle exceed the contact angle hysteresis. We interpret different features of these oscillations, such as the decrease of the resonance frequencies at larger vibration amplitudes. Two model catalysts, Au/TiO2/C (S) (sonochemically derived) and Au/TiO2/C (M) (microwave derived), were produced by employing ultrasound irradiation and microwave irradiation, respectively. The deposition of gold colloids onto the support powders, TiO2/C, was accomplished by using a solvated metal atom impregnation (SMAI) method. The SMAI technique provides highly-dispersed gold particles on the TiO2/C support. The catalytic performance of Au based catalysts 1 wt% Au-TiO2/C (S) and 1 wt%Au-TiO2(M)/C (M) have been tested for the oxidation of CO in the temperature range of 0-300 degrees C and compared to that of 1 wt% Au-TiO2 (Degussa-P25). A boost in the conversion of CO was observed for the sonochemically-derived catalyst, Au/TiO2/C (S), at low temperature. Hence, the reactivity order found for CO oxidation is (Au/TiO2/C (S)>Au/TiO2 (P25)>Au/TiO2/C (M)).  相似文献

Violin corpus wall compliance, which has a substantial effect on cavity mode frequencies, was added to Shaw's two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) network model for A0 ("main air") and A1 (lowest length mode included in "main wood") cavity modes. The 2DOF model predicts a V(-0.25) volume dependence for A0 for rigid violin-shaped cavities, to which a semiempirical compliance correction term, V(-x(c)) (optimization parameter x(c)) consistent with cavity acoustical compliance and violin-based scaling was added. Optimizing x(c) over A0 and A1 frequencies measured for a Hutchins-Schelleng violin octet yielded x(c) approximately 0.08. This markedly improved A0 and A1 frequency predictions to within approximately +/- 10% of experiment over a range of about 4.5:1 in length, 10:1 in f-hole area, 3:1 in top plate thickness, and 128:1 in volume. Compliance is a plausible explanation for A1 falling close to the "main wood" resonance, not increasingly higher for the larger instruments, which were scaled successively shorter compared to the violin for ergonomic and practical reasons. Similarly incorporating compliance for A2 and A4 (lowest lower-/upper-bout modes, respectively) improves frequency predictions within +/-20% over the octet.  相似文献
