The rate constant for the reaction (1), Cl + HO2 → HCl + O2, was measured using molecular modulation spectrometry to investigate HO2 radical kinetics in the modulated photolysis of Cl2? ;H2? O2 mixtures at 760 torr pressure. HO2 was monitored directly in absorption at 220 nm, and k1 was determined from computer simulations of the observed kinetic behavior of HO2, using a simple chemical model. The results gave where k4 is the rate constant for the reaction of Cl with H2. A consensus value of k4 gave k1 = 6.9 × 10?11 cm3/molecule sec, independent of temperature in the range of 274–338 K with an overall uncertainty of ±50%. The relative importance of reaction (1) for the conversion of Cl to HCl in the stratosphere is discussed briefly. 相似文献

The kinetics of the O + ICN reaction was studied using a relative rate method, with O + C(2)H(2) as the competing reaction. Carbon monoxide products formed in the competing reaction and subsequent secondary chemistry were detected as a function of reagent ICN pressure to obtain total rate constants for the O + ICN reaction. Analysis of the experimental data yields rate constants of k(1) = (3.7 ± 1.0 to 26.2 ± 4.0) × 10(-14) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over the total pressure range 1.5-9.5 Torr. Product channel NCO + I, the only bimolecular exothermic channel of the reaction, was investigated by detection of N(2)O in the presence of NO and found to be insignificant. An ab initio calculation of the potential energy surface (PES) of the reaction at the CCSD(T)/CEP-31G//DFT-B3LYP/CEP-31G level of theory was also performed. The pathways leading to bimolecular product channels are kinetically unfavorable. Formation and subsequent stabilization of an ICNO adduct species appears to dominate the reaction, in agreement with the experimentally observed pressure dependent rate constants. 相似文献

The kinetics of the O + HCNO reaction were investigated by a relative rate technique using infrared diode laser absorption spectroscopy. Laser photolysis (355 nm) of NO2 was used to produce O atoms, followed by O atom reactions with CS2, NO2, and HCNO, and infrared detection of OCS product from the O + CS2 reaction. Analysis of the experiment data yields a rate constant of k1= (9.84 +/- 3.52) x 10-12 exp[(-195 +/- 120)/T)] (cm3 molecule-1 s-1) over the temperature range 298-375 K, with a value of k1 = (5.32 +/- 0.40) x 10-12 cm3 molecule-1 s-1 at 298 K. Infrared detection of product species indicates that CO producing channels, probably CO + NO + H, dominate the reaction. 相似文献

The reaction of dimethyldioxirane with cumene (22–52°C) follows a chain-radical mechanism. The kinetic regularities of this
reaction were studied by the chemiluminescence and kinetic UV spectrophotometry methods by monitoring the consumption of dioxirane.
The process is inhibited by oxygen. In the absence of O2, the process is accelerated due to the decomposition of dimethyldioxirane induced by alkyl radicals. In this case, the reaction
occurs according to a complicated kinetic law including the first and second orders with respect to dioxirane. Based on the
kinetics and reaction products, the scheme of the process was proposed.

Quantum chemical calculations were carried out to study the reaction of Al atom in the ground electronic state with H(2)O molecule. Examination of the potential energy surface revealed that the Al + H(2)O → AlO + H(2) reaction must be treated as a complex process involving two steps: Al + H(2)O → AlOH + H and AlOH + H → AlO + H(2). Activation barriers for these elementary reaction channels were calculated at B3LYP/6-311+G(3df,2p), CBS-QB3, and G3 levels of theory, and appropriate rate constants were estimated by using a canonical variational theory. Theoretical analysis exhibited that the rate constant for the Al + H(2)O → products reaction measured by McClean et al. must be associated with the Al + H(2)O → AlOH + H reaction path only. The process of direct HAlOH formation was found to be negligible at a pressure smaller than 100 atm. 相似文献

In this paper we report on the kinetics of hydrogen abstraction for the OH + alkene reaction class, using the reaction class transition state theory (RC-TST) combined with the linear energy relationship (LER) and the barrier height grouping (BHG) approaches. Parameters for the RC-TST were derived from theoretical calculations using a set of 15 reactions representing the hydrogen abstractions from the terminal and nonterminal carbon sites of the double bond of alkene compounds. Both the RC-TST/LER, where only reaction energy is needed at either density functional theory BH&HLYP or semiempirical AM1 levels, and RC-TST/BHG, where no additional information is required, are found to be promising methods for predicting rate constants for a large number of reactions in this reaction class. Detailed error analyses show that, when compared to explicit theoretical calculations, the averaged systematic errors in the calculated rate constants using both the RC-TST/LER and RC-TST/BHG methods are less than 25% in the temperature range 300-3000 K. The estimated rate constants using these approaches are in good agreement with available data in the literature. 相似文献

The reactants, products, and transition states of the CH2O + NO2 reaction on the ground electronic potential energy surface have been searched at both B3LYP/6?311+G(d,p) and MPW1PW91/6?311+G(3df,2p) levels of theory. The forward and reverse barriers are further improved by a modified Gaussian‐2 method. The theoretical rate constants for the two most favorable reaction channels 1 and 2 producing CHO + cis‐HONO and CHO + HNO2, respectively, have been calculated over the temperature range from 200 to 3000 K using the conventional and variational transition‐state theory with quantum‐mechanical tunneling corrections. The former product channel was found to be dominant below 1500 K, above which the latter becomes competitive. The predicted total rate constants for these two product channels can be presented by kt (T) = 8.35 × 10?11 T6.68 exp(?4182/T) cm3/(mol s). The predicted values, which include the significant effect of small curvature tunneling corrections, are in quantitative agreement with the available experimental data throughout the temperature range studied (390–1650 K). © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The kinetics of the HCCO + NO2 reaction were investigated using a laser photolysis/infrared diode laser absorption technique. Ethyl ethynyl ether (C2H5OCCH) was used as the HCCO radical precursor. Transient infrared detection of the HCCO radical was used to determine a total rate constant fit to the following expression: k1= (2.43 +/- 0.26) x 10(-11) exp[(171.1 +/- 36.9)/T] cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1) over the temperature range of 298-423 K. Transient infrared detection of CO, CO2, and HCNO products was used to determine the following branching ratios at 298 K: phi(HCO + NO + CO) = 0.60 +/- 0.05 and phi(HCNO + CO2) = 0.40 +/- 0.05. 相似文献

The kinetics of the NCCO + NO(2) reaction was studied by transient infrared laser absorption spectroscopy. The total rate constant of the reaction was measured to be k = (2.1 ± 0.1) × 10(-11) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) at 298 K. Detection of products and consideration of possible secondary chemistry shows that CO(2) + NO + CN is the primary product channel. The rate constants of the NCCO + CH(4) and NCCO + C(2)H(4) reactions were also measured, obtaining upper limits of k (NCCO + CH(4)) ≤ 7.0 × 10(-14) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) and k (NCCO + C(2)H(4)) ≤ 5.0 × 10(-15) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1). Ab initio calculations on the singlet and triplet potential energy surfaces at B3LYP/6-311++G**//CCSD(T)/6-311++G** levels of theory show that the most favorable reaction pathway occurs on the singlet surface, leading to CO(2) + NO + CN products, in agreement with experiment. 相似文献

The termolecular rate constant for the reaction Cl + NO2 + M has been measured over the temperature range 264 to 417 K and at pressure 1 to 7 torr in a discharge flow system using atomic chlorine resonance fluorescence at 140 nm to monitor the decay of Cl in an excess of NO2. The results are\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$k_1^{{\rm He}} = 9.4{\rm } \times {\rm }10^{ - 31} \left({\frac{T}{{300}}} \right)^{ - 2.0 \pm 0.05} {\rm cm}^6 {\rm s}^{ - {\rm 1}}$\end{document} and \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$k_1^{{\rm N}2} = (14.8{\rm } \pm {\rm }1.4){\rm } \times {\rm 10}^{ - 31} {\rm cm}^6 {\rm s}^{ - 1}$\end{document} at 296 K where error limits represent one standard deviation. The systematic error of k1 measurements is estimated to be about 15%. Using a static photolysis system coupled with the FTIR spectrophotometer the branching ratio for the formation of the two possible isomers was found to be ClONO(?75%) and CINO2(?25%) in good agreement with previous measurements. 相似文献

The kinetics of the solid state displacement reaction TlCl + KI → TlI + KCl was investigated by the diffusion couple method (using single crystal disks and pellets) in the temperature range 215–300°C. Two distinct layers are present: the first, in contact with TlCl, formed by a solid solution of TlI in TlCl, grows with a linear rate; the second, in contact with KI, formed by two solid solutions of TlCl in TlI and in KCl, respectively, grows according to the parabolic law. From marker experiments and X-ray analyses on product layer surfaces parallel to the original interface, along with a comparison of the rate constants and the diffusion coefficients, it was possible to deduce that the overall process is governed by diffusion of Tl+ and Cl? in the iodide-rich solid solution Tl(I, Cl) and that the rate-determining step is the diffusion of Tl+. 相似文献

The rate constant for the CF3 + NO2 reaction (k2) was measured at room temperature in the range of total pressures 300–600 torr. The measurements were performed using the ruby-laser-induced pulsed photodissociation of CF3NO in the presence of NO and NO2 in combination with time-resolved detection of the absorption of He(SINGLE BOND)Ne laser radiation by CF3NO. The use of the CF3 + NO reaction as a reference gives k2 = (3.2 ± 0.7) × 10−11 cm3/s. Analysis of the end products of the CF3 + NO2 reaction shows that the contribution of the association reaction channel, which leads to the formation of CF3NO2, is rather significant (about 30% total yield). A reaction mechanism is suggested to account for the products observed. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 29: 203–208, 1997. 相似文献

The kinetics and absolute rate constants of the gas-phase reaction of the hydroxymethyl radical (CH2OH) with molecular oxygen have been studied using laser photolysis/near-IR absorption spectroscopy. The reaction was tracked by monitoring the time-dependent changes in the production of the hydroperoxy radical (HO2) concentration. For sensitive detection of HO2, two-tone frequency modulation absorption spectroscopy was used in combination with a Herriott-type optical multipass absorption cell. Rate constants were determined as a function of temperature (236 K相似文献

The rate constant k1 for the reaction of OH radicals with CIO2 molecules was measured in a discharge flow system over the temperature range 293 ≤ T ≤ 473 K and at low pressures, 0.5 ≤ P ≤ 1.4 torr, using electron paramagnetic resonance or laser-induced fluorescence to monitor the pseudo first-order decay of OH concentrations. At 293 K, the value obtained for k1 was (7.2 ± 0.5) × 10?12 cm3 molecule?1 s?1. Within the temperature range of this study, a negative temperature dependence was observed: k1 = (4.50 ± 0.75) × 10?13 exp[(804 ± 114)/T] cm3 molecule?1 s?1. HOCl was detected by mass spectrometry as a product of the reaction and was titrated using OH + Cl2 as a source in the calibration experiments. A simulation of the mechanism of the OH + ClO2 reaction indicated that HOCl was mainly produced in the first reaction step. Both this result and the observed T dependence of k1 suggest that this reaction proceeds via an intermediate adduct with a cyclic geometry. 相似文献

The reaction of HO2 with C2H5O2 has been studied using the density functional theory (B3LYP) and the coupled-cluster theory [CCSD(T)]. The reaction proceeds on the triplet potential energy surface via hydrogen abstraction to form ethyl hydroperoxide and oxygen. On the singlet potential energy surface, the addition-elimination mechanism is revealed. Variational transition state theory is used to calculate the temperature-dependent rate constants in the range 200-1000 K. At low temperatures (e.g., below 300 K), the reaction takes place predominantly on the triplet surface. The calculated low-temperature rate constants are in good agreement with the experimental data. As the temperature increases, the singlet reaction mechanism plays more and more important role, with the formation of OH radical predominantly. The isotope effect of the reaction (DO2 + C2D5O2 vs HO2 + C2H5O2) is negligible. In addition, the triplet abstraction energetic routes for the reactions of HO2 with 11 alkylperoxy radicals (CnHmO2) are studied. It is shown that the room-temperature rate constants have good linear correlation with the activation energies for the hydrogen abstraction. 相似文献

Computer calculations of the kinetics of the ferric ion catalyzed decomposition of H2O2 by Walling and Weil are not in contradiction to the “complex mechanism.” The examination of their results reveals that their simulations correspond to the terminal state of the system in which the secondary complex between Fe3+ and H2O2 becomes stabilized. 相似文献

Rate constants for the reaction HO2 + NO2(+ M) = HO2NO2(+ M) have been obtained from direct observations of the HO2 radical using the technique of molecular modulation ultraviolet spectrometry. HO2 was generated by periodic photolysis of Cl2 in the presence of excess H2 and O2, and k1 was determined from the measured concentrations and lifetime of HO2 with NO2 present. k1 increased with pressure in the range of 40–600 Torr, and a simple energy transfer model gave the following limiting second- and third-order rate constants at 283 K: k1∞ = 1.5 ± 0.5 × 10?12 cm3/molec·sec and k1III = 2.5 ± 0.5 × 10?31 cm6/molec·sec. The ultraviolet absorption spectrum of peroxynitric acid was also recorded in the range of 195–265 nm; it showed a broad feature with a maximum at 200 nm, σmax = 4.4 × 10?18 cm2. 相似文献

The gas-phase reaction of the NO3 radical with NO2 was investigated, using a flash photolysis-visible absorption technique, over the total pressure range 25–400 Torr of nitrogen or oxygen diluent at 298 ± 2 K. The absolute rate constants determined (in units of 10?13 cm3 molecule?1 s?1) at 25, 100, and 400 Torr total pressure were, respectively, (4.0 ± 0.5), (7.0 ± 0.7), and (10 ± 2) for M = N2 and (4.5 ± 0.5), (8.0 ± 0.4), and (8.8 ± 2.0) for M = O2. These data show that the third-body efficiencies of N2 and O2 are identical, within the error limits, and that previous evaluations for M = N2 are applicable to the atmosphere. In addition, upper limits were determined for the rate constants of the reactions of the NO3 radical with methanol, ethanol, and propan-2-ol of ?6 × 10?16, ?9 × 10?16, and ?2.3 × 10?15 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, respectively, at 298 ± 2 K. 相似文献
