The sensitivity of the determination of ruthenium by flame atomic absorption spectrometry is increased 60 times by adding 1 × 10?2 M cerium(IV). Calibration is linear over the range of 0.05–5 μg ml?1 ruthenium. A method applicable to nitrosylruthenium complexes is described. The increased sensitivity results from formation of ruthenium tetroxide.  相似文献

With a solution ofp-aminoacetophenone, cerium(IV) gives a purple colour which can be used for its detection and determination. The limits of identification and dilution are 1.0 mug and 1 in 50000 respectively. Beer's law is obeyed in the range 14-350 mug. The colour is stable for only 5 min and measurements of absorbance must be made quickly. The interferences are fewer than with existing methods.  相似文献

A simple, sensitive and selective chemiluminescence (CL) method was developed for the direct determination of aluminum (Al). This method is based on that the weak CL of cerium (IV)-calcein can be greatly enhanced by Al(III). The calibration curve was linear over the range 2.0 x 10(-10) to 4.0 x 10(-8)g mL(-1) with a detection limit of 8 x 10(-11)g mL(-1) (3sigma). The R.S.D. was 2.5% by 11 replicated determinations of 1.0 x 10(-9)g mL(-1) Al(III). The proposed method has been used to determine the concentration of Al(III) in real water samples with satisfactory results. The mechanism of the CL reaction was also discussed.  相似文献

Chemiluminescence (CL) was observed when potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) reacted with the mixture of calcein and ketotifen. Interestingly, the CL intensity would be enhanced by trace amounts of Mg2+ and the CL intensity was strongly dependent on ketotifen concentration. Based on this phenomenon, a flow injection CL method was established for the determination of ketotifen. The possible CL mechanism is proposed based on the kinetic characteristic of the CL reaction, CL spectrum, ultraviolet (UV) spectra and fluorescent spectra. The CL intensity was correlated linearly with concentration of ketotifen over the range of 6.0 × 10−9 to 2.0 × 10−7 g mL−1 and the detection limit was 3 × 10−9 g mL−1. The relative standard deviation was 1.8% for 2.0 × 10−8 g mL−1 ketotifen (n = 11). This method was applied to the determination of ketotifen in the tablets successfully.  相似文献

Percentages of different valence cerium species have been determined in powdery samples, redispersible compositions, and aqueous sols of nanodisperse ceria prepared from cerium(IV) and cerium(III) salts by various methods with or without organic stabilizers. Cerium(III) is shown to be virtually absent in nearly all of the CeO2 samples studied. Organic stabilizers are shown to be capable of reducing cerium(IV) in aqueous CeO2 sols.  相似文献

The rate of oxidation of uranium(IV) by cerium(IV) was measured with a stopped-flow spectrophotometer at sulfuric acid concentrations of 2 × 10−6−0.5 M. At a constant hydrogen ion concentration of 0.5 M, the maximum rate constant was observed for 2 × 10−3 M sulfuric acid; at that concentration, two sulfate ions were involved in the activated complex. The dependence of the rate constant on the hydrogen ion concentration showed that the reaction paths involving one or two sulfate ions also involved one hydroxyl ion, whereas one hydrogen ion was involved in the five sulfate dependent path.Spectrophotometric measurements supported the existence of a hydrolyzed monosulfatocomplex of cerium(IV).  相似文献

Two titrimetric methods which are simple, rapid, cost-effective and eco-riendly are described for the determination of ofloxacin (OFX) in bulk drug and in tablet formulations based on the oxidation of OFX by Ce(IV) sulphate. In direct titrimetry (method A), the acidified solution of OFX is titrated directly with Ce(IV) sulphate using ferroin as indicator, and indirect titrimetry (method B) involves the addition of known excess of Ce(IV) sulphate to an acidified solution of OFX followed by the determination of unreacted oxidant by back titration with ferrous ammonium sulphate (FAS) using the same ferroin indicator. In both the methods, the amount of Ce(IV) sulphate reacted corresponds to OFX concentration. Method A and method B permit the determination of OFX over the concentration range of 1.5?C15 mg in both the methods and the quantitation is based on a 1: 5 reaction stoichiometry (OFX: Ce (IV) sulphate). The methods were statistically evaluated by calculating percent relative error (% RE) for accuracy and percent relative standard deviation (% RSD) for precision, and were applied successfully to the determination of OFX in tablets with mean recoveries in the range of 96.50?C98.42%. No interference was observed from common additives found in pharmaceutical preparations. The accuracy and reliability of the methods were further ascertained by performing recovery tests s standard-addition technique.  相似文献

Three simple spectrophotometric methods have been described for the assay of olanzapine in its pure and pharmaceutical formulations. The direct method (A) is based on the drug oxidation with excess of N-bromosuccinimide in acidic medium and the two indirect methods (B and C) are based on the oxidation of the drug with excess of N-bromosuccinimide and cerium(IV)sulfate, followed by the reaction of the unconsumed oxidants with celestine blue. The calibration graphs were linear over the range 10 - 120 microg mL(-1) (method A), 0.5 - 6.0 microg mL(-1) (method B) and 0.6 - 3.0 microg mL(-1) (method C). After validation, the proposed methods were successfully applied to assay of olanzapine in its commercial tablets with mean percentage recoveries of 101.23 +/- 0.10, 96 +/- 0.10 and 94 +/- 0.04%. The mechanism of olanzapine oxidation with N-bromosuccinimide was also proposed.  相似文献

A highly sensitive flow-injection (FI) method with chemiluminescence (CL) detection is used for the determination of l-ascorbic acid. The method is based on the CL reaction of Rhodamine B with cerium(IV) in sulfuric acid media. l-Ascorbic acid is suggested to be a catalyst utilized in the energy-transferred excitation process. The proposed procedure allows quantitation of l-ascorbic acid in the range 3.8×10−13 to 1.0×10−10 mol l−1 with a correlation coefficient of 0.9998 (n=5) and relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) of 0.92% (n=11) at 1.0×10−11 mol l−1. The detection limit (3×blank) was 1.0×10−13 mol l−1. The method is successfully used to determine l-ascorbic acid in fresh vegetables. The possible mechanism of the chemiluminescence in the system is discussed.  相似文献

The reaction of Ce(IV) with pyrogallol caused chemiluminescence, which was enhanced by dissolved oxygen. Dissolved oxygen in water was able to help in the determination by enhancing the chemiluminescence intensity. The limit of detection calculated from 3sigma was 43 micromol/dm3, and the relative standard deviation was 1.2% at 613 micromol/dm3 (n = 5). The results obtained for natural and tap water samples were compared with those provided by conventional methods; the agreement between them corroborated the usefulness of the proposed method. The chemiluminescence mechanism was studied by examining the effect of interference with Cl- and measuring the chemiluminescence spectrum. The chemiluminescence emitter, however, could not be identified.  相似文献

Summary A visible spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of cerium(IV) with 3-thianaphthenoyltrifluoroacetone. The effects due to pH, time, solvents, reagent concentration and diverse ions are reported. Beer's law is obeyed and the molar extinction coefficient is 5.51·103 at 424 nm.
Zusammenfassung Ein spektrophotometrisches Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Cer(IV) mit 3-Thianaphthenoyltrifluoraceton wurde beschrieben. Über den Einfluß der Parameter pH, Zeit, Lösungsmittel, Reagenskonzentration und verschiedener Fremdionen wurde berichtet. Das Beersche Gesetz wird erfüllt. Der molare Extinktionskoeffizient beträgt bei 424 nm 5,51·103.

The kinetics of the oxidation of oxalic acid by cerium(IV) in sulfuric acid medium has been studied voltammetrically. The specific reaction rate is 132±4.0 M–1s–1 at 25.0 °C. The energy of activation is 62.6±3.0 kJ mol–1. The entropy of activation is –2.7 J mol–1K–1. The specific reaction rate is influenced by complexation and also by ionic strength (). The most likely mechanism has been suggested.

A method for determining traces of sulfate in reagent-grade chemicals is presented. The sample is passed through an alumina column in acid solution to isolate the sulfate, which is then eluted with ammonia. Potassium bromide is added to an aliquot of the eluate, and the solution is freeze-dried. The resulting powder is pressed into a disk whose infrared spectrum is recorded. The method is reasonably accurate and requires a minimum of operator time per sample because a large number of samples can be processed together  相似文献

The kinetics of the oxidation of imipramine and desipramine using cerium(IV) complexes were studied in the presence of a large excess of azepine derivative (TCA) in acidic sulfate media using UV-Vis spectroscopy. The reaction proceeds via dibenzoazepine radical formation, identified by EPR measurements. The kinetics of the first degradation step were studied independently of the further slower degradation reactions. Linear dependences, with zero intercept, of the pseudo-first-order rate constants (k(obs)) on [TCA] were established for both dibenzoazepine radical formation processes. Rates of reactions decreased with increasing concentration of the H(+) ion indicating that cerium(IV) as well as both reductants exist in an equilibrium with their protolytic forms. The activation parameters for the degradation of dibenzoazepine derivatives in the first oxidation stage were as follows: ΔH(≠) = 39 ± 2 kJ mol(-1), ΔS(≠) = -28 ± 8 J K(-1) mol(-1) for imipramine and ΔH(≠) = 39 ± 2 kJ mol(-1), ΔS(≠) = -28 ± 6 J K(-1) mol(-1) for desipramine, respectively. Imipramine and desipramine radicals dimerized leading to an intermediate radical dimer, which decayed in a first-order consecutive decay process. These two further reactions proceed with rates which are characterized by non-linear dependences of the pseudo-first-order rate constants (k(obs)) on [TCA]. The degradation reaction of the intermediate radical dimer leads to an uncharged dimer as a final product. Mechanistic consequences of all the results are discussed.  相似文献

The breakdown of polymeric plutonium(IV) hydroxide (plutonium colloid) by cerium(IV) has been studied spectrophotometrically by monitoring the formation of plutonium(VI). Reaction rate variations were studied with changes in cerium(IV), acid and plutonium colloid concentrations. A reaction mechanism involving the formation of [Ce2O(OH)2]4+ and its reaction with the polymer surface to produce two plutonium(V) ions is postulated to explain the observed kinetic data, in particular the maximum in the reaction rate at around 0.3 M nitric acid.  相似文献
