The instantaneous and ensemble averaged flow characteristics of a round jet issuing normally into a crossflow was studied using a flow visualization technique and Particle Image Velocimetry measurements. Experiments were performed at a jet-to-crossflow velocity ratio, 3.3 and two Reynolds numbers, 1,050 and 2,100, based on crossflow velocity and jet diameter. Instantaneous laser tomographic images of the vertical center plane of the crossflow jet show that there exists very different natures in the flow structures of the near field jet due to Reynolds number effect even though the velocity ratio is same. It is found that the shear layer becomes much thicker when the Reynolds number is 2,100 because of the strong entrainment of the inviscid fluid by turbulent interaction between the jet and crossflow. The mean and second order statistics are calculated by ensemble averaging over 1,000 realizations of instantaneous velocity fields. The detail characteristics of mean flow field, streamwise and vertical rms velocity fluctuations, and Reynolds shear stress distributions are presented. The new PIV results are compared with those from previous experimental and LES studies.  相似文献

理论分析了射流抛光的紊动冲击射流特点,构建了射流抛光的垂直冲击射流模型和斜冲击射流模型。根据射流抛光冲击射流的特点,比较各种流体模型后,采用RNG k-e 模型应用于射流抛光模型的计算。利用计算流体力学理论的二阶迎风格式对抛光模型方程离散,用SIMPLEC数值计算方法对射流抛光过程的紊动冲击射流和离散相磨粒分布进行数值模拟,得到了射流抛光过程的连续流场和离散相磨粒与水溶液的耦合流场,同时计算出了抛光液射流在工件壁面上的压力、速度、紊动强度、剪切力分布和磨粒体积质量分布,分析了垂直射流抛光模型和斜冲击射流抛光模型紊流流场的特点。  相似文献

Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of turbulent free round jet submerged in water has been performed at Reynolds number Re = 25 000. LES results are compared against the PIV measurements data for the same flow configuration. The processes of the mixing layer formation in the jet initial region and its evolution down-stream have been studied with the analysts of turbulent power spectra. The effect of the subgrid Smagorinsky model coefficient C s on the jet hydrodynamics has been studied. Using a second-order semi-empirical turbulence model that includes the differential equations for the normal Reynolds stresses transport, numerical simulation of the flow in round turbulent jets is performed. A theoretical model of turbulent fiber suspension is developed by deriving the equations of Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes,turbulence kinetic energy and turbulence dissipation rate with the additional term of fibers.In order to close the above equations,the equation of probability distribution function for mean fiber orientation is also derived.The theoretical model is applied to the turbulent channel flow and the corresponding equations are solved numerically.The numerical results are verified by comparisons with the experimental ones.The effects of Reynolds number,fiber concentration and fiber aspect-ratio on the velocity profile,turbulent kinetic energy and turbulent dissipation rate are analyzed.Based on the numerical data,the expression for the velocity profile in the turbulent fiber suspension channel flow,which includes the effect of Reynolds number,fiber concentration and aspect-ratio,is proposed.  相似文献

本文研究雷诺数(Re)对圆形渐缩喷嘴湍流射流的影响.实验在射流出口雷诺数为 Re = 4050—20100 的范围内进行,分别测量了射流出口、中心线的平均及湍流流场以及部分径向剖面速度分布.所有测量均采用单热线恒温热线风速仪进行高频采样,所测流场范围在轴向上为 0—30d(这里d为射流出口直径).虽然出口速度分布均为"平顶帽"形,但测量结果依然反映出Re对射流出口以及下游流场有强烈的影响.当Re小于临界值(~10000)时 关键词: 雷诺数 圆形射流 热线风速仪  相似文献

The effects of different tracer particles used in the PTV technique on the velocity field are investigated. The measurements are taken in a water round jet at a Reynolds number equal to about 40000, a flow field widely examined in the literature, in which strong velocity differences are encountered. The interest is focused onto particles with different density. Although the mean and rms values are almost unaffected, both measurements obtained with light and heavy particles (in comparison to the density of the fluid) reveal a modified velocity field. The moments of velocity differences (structure functions) point out that such a modification is felt within each range of flow scales. Particles with density almost equal to that of the fluid reproduce the flow behaviour over all the scales.  相似文献

A moderate Reynolds number,and high subsonic turbulent round jet is investigated by large eddy simulation.The detailed results(e.g.mean flow properties,turbulence intensities,etc.)are validated against the experimental data,and special attention is paid to study motions of coherent structures and their contributions to far-field noise.Eulerian methods(e.g.Q-criteria andλ2criteria)are utilized for visualizing coherent structures directly for instantaneous flow fields,and Lagrangian coherent structures accounting for integral effect are shown via calculating fields of finite time Lyapunov exponents based on bidimensional velocity fields.All visualizations demonstrate that intrusion of three-dimensional vortical structures into jet core occurs intermittently at the end of the potential core,resulting from the breakdown of helical vortex rings in the shear layer.Intermittencies in the shear layer and on the centerline are studied quantitatively,and distinctively different distributions of probability density function are observed.Moreover,the physical sound sources are obtained through a filtering operation of defined sources in Lighthill’s analogy,and their distributions verify that intrusion of vortical structures into the core region serves as important sound sources,in particular for noise at aft angles.The facts that intermittent behaviors are caused by motions of coherent structures and correlated with noise generation imply that to establish reasonable sound sources in active noise production region based on intermittent coherent structures is one of the key issues for far-field noise prediction.  相似文献

Results on visual studies of the flow structure in case of the round submerged jet in a narrow channel are presented. These studies were carried out for the laminar and turbulent flows. The typical large-scale structures and zones of intensive turbulent mixing were identified in the flow. We discuss continuous cascade models and their potential for modelling the energy dissipation in a turbulent flow. Continuous cascade processes, expressed in terms of stochastic integrals with respect to Lévy bases, are examples of ambit processes. These models are known to reproduce experimentally observed properties of turbulence: the scaling and self-scaling of the correlators of the energy dissipation and of the moments of the coarse-grained energy dissipation. We compare three models: a normal model, a normal inverse Gaussian model, and a stable model. We show that the normal inverse Gaussian model is superior to both, the normal and the stable models, in terms of reproducing the distribution of the energy dissipation; and that the normal inverse Gaussian model is superior to the normal model and competitive with the stable model in terms of reproducing the self-scaling exponents. Furthermore, we show that the presented analysis is parsimonious in the sense that the self-scaling exponents are predicted from the one-point distribution of the energy dissipation, and that the shape of these distributions is independent of the Reynolds number.  相似文献

A direct numerical simulation of a turbulent flow field with a lattice BGK method is presented. A spatial coarse graining of the numerical results is compared with the expected LBGK dynamics for a flow field on a reduced lattice size. This comparison permits to exhibit subgrid properties of the fluid which are not resolved on the coarse lattice. As expected from existing subgrid models, an effective viscosity can be measured that increases when the lattice is coarse grained. Turbulence models based on an effective viscosity are particularly interesting in a lattice Boltzmann simulation, due to the linearity of the propagation operator.  相似文献

In the present paper, the development of a high-resolution PIV-PLIF combined system for the simultaneous measurements of velocity and passive scalar concentration fields is described. The high-resolution PIV-PLIF combined system is used to perform the simultaneous whole-field measurements of velocity and concentration in the near field of a turbulent jet mixing flow. The characteristics of the mass transfer process and momentum transfer process in the near field of the jet mixing flows are discussed in the terms of ensemble-averaged velocity and concentration, turbulent intensity, concentration standard deviation and the correlation terms between the fluctuating velocities and concentration.  相似文献

基于不可压Navier-Stokes方程, 采用计算流体力学方法, 数值模拟与分析了层流圆管潜射流在密度均匀黏性流体中的演化机理及其表现特征, 定量研究了蘑菇形涡结构无量纲射流长度L*、螺旋型涡环半径R*及其包络外形长度d*等几 何特征参数随无量纲时间t*的变化规律. 数值结果表明, 蘑菇形涡结构的形成与演化过程可分为三个不同的阶段: 启动阶段、发展阶段和衰退阶段. 在启动阶段, L*d*t* 线性变化, 而R*则近似为一个常数; 在发展阶段, 蘑菇形涡结构的演化具有自相似性, L*, R*d*t*1/2均为同一正比关系, 而且雷诺数和无量纲射流时间不影响该正比关系; 在衰退阶段, L*R* 正比于t*1/5, 而d*则近似为一个常数. 此外, 还对蘑菇形涡结构二次回流点、 动量源作用中心及其几何中心的速度变化规律、垂向涡量分布特征和 涡量-流函数关系进行了分析. 关键词: 圆管潜射流 蘑菇形涡结构 演化机理  相似文献

The paper is devoted to a new phenomenon of self-sustained oscillations triggered in a round free homogeneous-density jet. It was shown by the experimental investigations supported by the numerical approach based on extensive-Large Eddy Simulations studies that such a self-sustained regime can be established in a homogeneous-density jet, provided that the boundary layer at the nozzle exit is sufficiently thin and the perturbation level sufficiently low. The growth rate of the naturally amplified unstable modes is high enough to induce backflow leading to self-excited oscillations.  相似文献
