Using heuristic arguments based on the trace formulas, we analytically calculate the semiclassical two-point correlation form factor for a family of rectangular billiards with a barrier of height irrational with respect to the side of the billiard and located at any rational position p/q from the side. To do this, we first obtain the asymptotic density of lengths for each family of periodic orbits by a Siegel-Veech formula. The result obtained for these pseudo-integrable, non-Veech billiards is different but not far from the value of 1/2 expected for semi-Poisson statistics and from values of obtained previously in the case of Veech billiards. 相似文献

We describe a numerical method for calculating periodic orbits, which is a generalization of the monodromy method by Baranger et al. to the case of an arbitrary autonomous dynamical system with a constant of motion C. By specifying the constant C to be the pseudoenergy
, i.e. a value of the regularized Hamilton function, and applying the general method to the corresponding Hamiltons equations, we show that this method can be used successfully for calculating periodic orbits of Hamiltonian systems having regularizable singularities in their original Hamilton functions.

We show that a compound Poisson distribution holds for scaled exceedances of observables \(\phi \) uniquely maximized at a periodic point \(\zeta \) in a variety of two-dimensional hyperbolic dynamical systems with singularities \((M,T,\mu )\), including the billiard maps of Sinai dispersing billiards in both the finite and infinite horizon case. The observable we consider is of form \(\phi (z)=-\ln d(z,\zeta )\) where d is a metric defined in terms of the stable and unstable foliation. The compound Poisson process we obtain is a Pólya-Aeppli distibution of index \(\theta \). We calculate \(\theta \) in terms of the derivative of the map T. Furthermore if we define \(M_n=\max \{\phi ,\ldots ,\phi \circ T^n\}\) and \(u_n (\tau )\) by \(\lim _{n\rightarrow \infty } n\mu (\phi >u_n (\tau ) )=\tau \) the maximal process satisfies an extreme value law of form \(\mu (M_n \le u_n)=e^{-\theta \tau }\). These results generalize to a broader class of functions maximized at \(\zeta \), though the formulas regarding the parameters in the distribution need to be modified. 相似文献

In this paper, using the Maslov index theory in symplectic geometry, we build up some stability criteria for symmetric periodic
orbits in a Hamiltonian system, which is motivated by the recent discoveries in the n-body problem. The key ingredient is a generalized Bott-type iteration formula for periodic solution in the presence of finite
group action on the orbit. For second order system, we prove, under general boundary conditions, the close formula for the
relationship between the Morse index of an orbit in a Lagrangian system and the Maslov index of the fundamental solution for
the corresponding orbit in its Hamiltonian system counterpart, and the boundary conditions cover the cases which appeared
in the n-body problem. As an application we consider the stability problem of the celebrated figure-eight orbit due to Chenciner and
Montgomery in the planar three-body problem with equal masses, and we clarify the relationship between linear stability and
its variational nature on various loop spaces. The basic idea is as follows: the variational characterization of the figure-eight
orbit provides information about its Morse index; based on its relation to the Maslov index, our stability criteria come into
play.

The Lyapunov spectrum corresponding to a periodic orbit for a two-dimensional many-particle system with hard core interactions is discussed. Noting that the matrix to describe the tangent space dynamics has the block cyclic structure, the calculation of the Lyapunov spectrum is attributed to the eigenvalue problem of 16×16 reduced matrices regardless of the number of particles. We show that there is the thermodynamic limit of the Lyapunov spectrum in this periodic orbit. The Lyapunov spectrum has a step structure, which is explained by using symmetries of the reduced matrices. 相似文献

Two methods are presented for controlling spatiotemporal chaotic motion in coupled map lattices to a kind of periodic orbit where the dynamical variables of all lattice sites are equal and act periodically as time evolves. Stability analysis of the periodic orbits is presented. We prove that especially the second controlling method can stabilize all the periodic orbits we concern. In this paper we analyze the existence of the periodic orbits of the static, spherically symmetric Einstein–Yang–Mills Equations
by using the qualitative theory of the ordinary differential equation. We prove that there are no periodic orbits restricted
to some invariant set of codimension 1. Furthermore if there is a periodic orbit out of this invariant set, then there must
be other periodic orbits, which are symmetric to the first one. We also have results on the non–existence of periodic orbits

Quantization of non-Hamiltonian systems (such as damped systems) often gives rise to complex spectra and corresponding resonant states, therefore a standard form calculating Wigner functions cannot lead to static quasiprobability distribution functions. A new expression for the bound-state scalar form factor was obtained for two relativistic fermions of equal mass. Improvement of an infrared light detection and ranging (IR-lidar) system for a short range (0–1000 m) and with high resolution is studied to enhance a geometrical form factor. Theoretical modeling of Mie scattering echo signals agrees with the experimental results. Introduction of a lens in front of the detector is effective for increasing the geometrical form factor, and a significant improvement in the received signal intensity is achieved, especially for short-range measurements around 100 m. This is useful for the IR-lidar system with a detector diameter of less than 1 mm. In the theoretical model, a ray-tracing technique was applied and a transmitting laser beam with Gaussian profile was considered for better accuracy. 相似文献

We study the forms of the orbits in a symmetric configuration of a realistic model of the H(2)O molecule with particular emphasis on the periodic orbits. We use an appropriate Poincare surface of section (PSS) and study the distribution of the orbits on this PSS for various energies. We find both ordered and chaotic orbits. The proportion of ordered orbits is almost 100% for small energies, but decreases abruptly beyond a critical energy. When the energy exceeds the escape energy there are still nonescaping orbits around stable periodic orbits. We study in detail the forms of the various periodic orbits, and their connections, by providing appropriate stability and bifurcation diagrams. (c) 2001 American Institute of Physics. 相似文献

We consider the use of one-dimensional integral equations of the second kind for calculation of axisymmetric waves in hollow and open periodic axisymmetric waveguide systems. Methods of discriminating between the fundamental and additional spectra of the problem are proposed. It is shown that the applicability range of this method can be extended considerably. In particular, a special transformation of the integration variable permits one to include waveguides with nonsmooth wall profiles in the applicability range of the method. 相似文献
