Abstract

A result of A.M. Mantero and A. Tonge is strengthened by giving an example of a commutative operator algebra which is semisimple but which is not the quotient algebra of a 2-summing Banach algebra by a closed ideal.  相似文献

Reducing Subspace of Analytic Toeplitz Operators on the Bergman Space   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
In this paper we prove that the analytic Toeplitz operator with finite Blaschke product symbol on the Bergman space has at least a reducing subspace on which the restriction of the associated Toeplitz operator is unitary equivalent to the Bergman shift  相似文献

A distance between orbit spaces generated by a single element is introduced and it is shown that if an operator is invertible in one orbit it is also invertible in nearby orbits, thus proving a version of Shneiberg's theorem for orbital methods. The same machinery is used to extend the celebrated Rochberg-Weiss commutator theorem to the setting of orbital methods. It is shown that these results apply to the real and complex methods of interpolation by proving that these methods can be suitably obtained as orbits of a single element.  相似文献

Let X be an operator space, let φ be a product on X, and let (X,φ) denote the algebra that one obtains. We give necessary and sufficient conditions on the bilinear mapping φ for the algebra (X,φ) to have a completely isometric representation as an algebra of operators on some Hilbert space. In particular, we give an elegant geometrical characterization of such products by using the Haagerup tensor product. Our result makes no assumptions about identities or approximate identities. Our proof is independent of the earlier result of Blecher, Ruan and Sinclair [D.P. Blecher, Z.-J. Ruan, A.M. Sinclair, A characterization of operator algebras, J. Funct. Anal. 89 (1) (1990) 188-201] which solved the case when the bilinear mapping has an identity of norm one, and our result is used to give a simple direct proof of this earlier result. We also develop further the connections between quasi-multipliers of operator spaces and their representations on a Hilbert space or their embeddings in the second dual, and show that the quasi-multipliers of operator spaces defined in [M. Kaneda, V.I. Paulsen, Quasi-multipliers of operator spaces, J. Funct. Anal. 217 (2) (2004) 347-365] coincide with their C-algebraic counterparts.  相似文献

Let H be a separable complex Hilbert space, A a von Neumann algebra in ?(H),a faithful, normal state on A. We prove that if a sequence (Xn: n ≥ 1) of uncorrelated operators in A is bundle convergent to some operator X in A and Σn=1n−2 Var(Xn) log2(n + 1) < ∞, then X is proportional to the identity operator on H. We also prove an analogous theorem for certain uncorrelated vectors in the completion L2=L2(A,φ) of A given by the Gelfand-Naimark-Segal representation theorem. Both theorems were motivated by a recent one proved by Etemadi and Lenzhen in the classical commutative setting.  相似文献

We use the injective envelope to study quasi-multipliers of operator spaces. We prove that all representable operator algebra products that an operator space can be endowed with are induced by quasi-multipliers. We obtain generalizations of the Banach-Stone theorem.  相似文献

We study interpolation, generated by an abstract method of means, of bilinear operators between quasi-Banach spaces. It is shown that under suitable conditions on the type of these spaces and the boundedness of the classical convolution operator between the corresponding quasi-Banach sequence spaces, bilinear interpolation is possible. Applications to the classical real method spaces, Calderón-Lozanovsky spaces, and Lorentz-Zygmund spaces are presented. For an operator bimodule X over von Neumann algebras A⊆B(H) and B⊆B(K), the space of all completely bounded A,B-bimodule maps from X into B(K,H), is the bimodule dual of X. Basic duality theory is developed with a particular attention to the Haagerup tensor product over von Neumann algebras. To X a normal operator bimodule Xn is associated so that completely bounded A,B-bimodule maps from X into normal operator bimodules factorize uniquely through Xn. A construction of Xn in terms of biduals of X, A and B is presented. Various operator bimodule structures are considered on a Banach bimodule admitting a normal such structure.  相似文献

The possibility of characterizing the Mackey topology of a dual pair of vector spaces as a generalized inductive limit (or mixed) topology is investigated. Positive answers are given for a wide range of dual pairs of Riesz spaces (vector lattices) and non-commutative Banach function spaces (or symmetric operator spaces).  相似文献

A Krein operator is a positive operator, acting on a partially ordered Banach space, that carries positive elements to strong units. The purpose of this paper is to present a survey of the remarkable spectral properties (most of which were established by M.G. Krein) of these operators. The proofs presented here seem to be simpler than the ones existing in the literature. Some new results are also obtained. For instance, it is shown that every positive operator on a Krein space which is not a multiple of the identity operator has a nontrivial hyperinvariant subspace. Dedicated to the memory of M.G. This paper is devoted to dual operator algebras, that isw *-closed algebras of bounded operators on Hilbert space. We investigate unital dual operator algebrasA with the following weak* similarity property: for every Hilbert spaceH, anyw *-continuous unital homomorphism fromA intoB(H) is completely bounded and thus similar to a contractive one. We develop a notion of dual similarity degree for these algebras, in analogy with some recent work of Pisier on the similarity problem on operator algebras.  相似文献

We define and investigate the class of symmetric and the class of semibounded de Branges spaces of entire functions. A construction is made which assigns to each symmetric de Branges space a semibounded one. By employing operator theoretic tools it is shown that every semibounded de Branges space can be obtained in this way, and which symmetric spaces give rise to the same semibounded space. Those subclasses of Hermite-Biehler functions are determined which correspond to symmetric or semibounded, respectively, nondegenerated de Branges spaces. The above assignment is determined in terms of the respective generating Hermite-Biehler functions.  相似文献

Suppose A is a dual Banach algebra, and a representation π:AB(?2) is unital, weak* continuous, and contractive. We use a “Hilbert-Schmidt version” of Arveson distance formula to construct an operator space X, isometric to ?2⊗?2, such that the space of completely bounded maps on X consists of Hilbert-Schmidt perturbations of π(A)⊗I?2. This allows us to establish the existence of operator spaces with various interesting properties. For instance, we construct an operator space X for which the group K1(CB(X)) contains Z2 as a subgroup, and a completely indecomposable operator space containing an infinite dimensional homogeneous Hilbertian subspace.  相似文献

This paper mainly concerns defect operators and defect functions of Hardy submodules, Bergman submodules over the unit ball, and Hardy submodules over the polydisk. The defect operator (function) carries key information about operator theory (function theory) and structure of analytic submodules. The problem when a submodule has finite defect is attacked for both Hardy submodules and Bergman submodules. Our interest will be in submodules generated by polynomials. The reason for choosing such submodules is to understand the interaction of operator theory, function theory and algebraic geometry.  相似文献

Abstract

The powerful concept of an operator ideal on the class of all Banach spaces makes sense in the real and in the complex case. In both settings we may, for example, consider compact, nuclear, or 2-summing operators, where the definitions are adapted to each other in a natural way. This paper deals with the question whether or not that fact is based on a general philosophy. Does there exists a one-to-one correspondence between “real properties” and “complex properties” defining an operator ideal? In other words, does there exist for every real operator ideal a uniquely determined corresponding complex ideal and vice versa?

Unfortunately, we are not abel to give a final answer. Nevertheless, some preliminary results are obtained. In particular, we construct for every real operator ideal a corresponding complex operator ideal and for every complex operator ideal a corresponding real one. However, we conjecture that there exists a complex operator ideal which can not be obtained from a real one by this construction.

The following approach is based on the observation that every complex Banach space can be viewed as a real Banach space with an isometry acting on it like the scalar multiplication by the imaginary unit i.  相似文献

Multilinear interpolation is a powerful tool used in obtaining strong-type boundedness for a variety of operators assuming only a finite set of restricted weak-type estimates. A typical situation occurs when one knows that a multilinear operator satisfies a weak Lq estimate for a single index q (which may be less than one) and that all the adjoints of the multilinear operator are of similar nature, and thus they also satisfy the same weak Lq estimate. Under this assumption, in this note we give a general multilinear interpolation theorem which allows one to obtain strong-type boundedness for the operator (and all of its adjoints) for a large set of exponents. The key point in the applications we discuss is that the interpolation theorem can handle the case q?1. When q>1, weak Lq has a predual, and such strong-type boundedness can be easily obtained by duality and multilinear interpolation (cf. Interpolation Spaces, An Introduction, Springer, New York, 1976; Math. Ann. 319 (2001) 151; in: Function Spaces and Applications (Lund, 1986), Lecture Notes in Mathematics, Vol. 1302, Springer, Berlin, New York, 1988; J. Amer. Math. Soc. 15 (2002) 469; Proc. Amer. Math. We prove that a bounded operator on a Banach lattice, satisfying a growth condition, is regular. Also, we prove that the generator of a C 0-semigroup on such a lattice for which such an operator exists is bounded.  相似文献
