Our aim in this article is to discuss recent issues related with the Cahn-Hilliard equation in phase separation with the thermodynamically relevant logarithmic potentials; in particular, we are interested in the well-posedness and the study of the asymptotic behavior of the solutions (and, more precisely, the existence of finite-dimensional attractors). We first consider the usual Neumann boundary conditions and then dynamic boundary conditions which account for the interactions with the walls in confined systems and have recently been proposed by physicists. We also present, in the case of dynamic boundary conditions, some numerical results.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce Bessel potentials and the Sobolev potential spaces resulting from them in the context of Ahlfors regular metric spaces. The Bessel kernel is defined using a Coifman type approximation of the identity, and we show integration against it improves the regularity of Lipschitz, Besov and Sobolev-type functions. For potential spaces, we prove density of Lipschitz functions, and several embedding results, including Sobolev-type embedding theorems. Finally, using singular integrals techniques such as the T1 theorem, we find that for small orders of regularity Bessel potentials are inversible, its inverse in terms of the fractional derivative, and show a way to characterize potential spaces, concluding that a function belongs to the Sobolev potential space if and only if itself and its fractional derivative are in Lp. Moreover, this characterization allows us to prove these spaces in fact coincide with the classical potential Sobolev spaces in the Euclidean case.  相似文献

We introduce generalized Bessel and Riesz potentials on metric measure spaces and the corresponding potential spaces. Estimates of the Bessel and Riesz kernels are given which reflect the intrinsic structure of the spaces. We consider the two-dimensional Cahn-Hilliard equation with logarithmic potentials and periodic boundary conditions. We employ the standard semi-implicit numerical scheme, which treats the linear fourth-order dissipation term implicitly and the nonlinear term explicitly. Under natural constraints on the time step we prove strict phase separation and energy stability of the semiimplicit scheme. This appears to be the first rigorous result for the semi-implicit discretization of the Cahn-Hilliard equation with singular potentials.  相似文献

We consider the family of finite signed measures on the complex plane \(\mathbb {C}\) with compact support, of finite logarithmic energy and with zero total mass. We show directly that the logarithmic potential of such a measure sits in the Beppo Levi space, namely, the extended Dirichlet space of the Sobolev space of order 1 over \(\mathbb {C}\), and that the half of its Dirichlet integral equals the logarithmic energy of the measure. We then derive the (local) Markov property of the Gaussian field \(\textbf {G}(\mathbb {C})\) indexed by this family of measures. Exactly analogous considerations will be made for the Beppo Levi space over the upper half plane \(\mathbb {H}\) and the Cameron-Martin space over the real line \(\mathbb {R}\). Some Gaussian fields appearing in recent literatures related to mathematical physics will be interpreted in terms of the present field \(\textbf {G}(\mathbb {C})\).  相似文献

We introduce (k,l)-regular maps, which generalize two previously studied classes of maps: affinely k-regular maps and totally skew embeddings. We exhibit some explicit examples and obtain bounds on the least dimension of a Euclidean space into which a manifold can be embedded by a (k,l)-regular map. The problem can be regarded as an extension of embedding theory to embeddings with certain non-degeneracy conditions imposed, and is related to approximation theory.  相似文献

We study functions of two variables whose sections by the lines parallel to the coordinate axis satisfy the Lipschitz condition of order 0 < α ≤ 1. We prove that if for a function f the Lip α-norms of these sections belong to the Lorentz space L p,1(?) (p = 1/α), then f can be modified on a set of measure zero so as to become bounded and uniformly continuous on ?2. For α = 1 this gives an extension of Sobolev’s theorem on continuity of functions of the space W 1 2,2 (?2). We show that the exterior L p,1-norm cannot be replaced by a weaker Lorentz L p,q -norm with q > 1.  相似文献

We show that every countable group H with solvable word problem can be subnormally embedded into a 2-generated group G which also has solvable word problem. The paper deals with sampling of σ-bandlimited functions in Rm with Clifford-valued, where bandlimitedness means that the spectrum is contained in the ball B(0, σ) that is centered at the origin and has radius σ. By comparing with the general setting, what is new in the sampling is using the explicit Bochner-type relations involving spherical harmonics and monogenics in the Clifford algebra setting. Convergence of the sampling formulas in the L2 sense and in the uniform and absolute pointwise sense are studied. We single out the obstruction for a closed -null-homologous submanifold of codimension 2 to be the boundary of a submanifold of codimension 1. Rips conjectured that a non-clementary word hyperbolic group is cohopfian if and only if it is freely indecomposable. The results and examples in this paper show that cohopficity phenomenon in the case of word hyperbolic group with torsion is much more complicated than the conjecture. In particular, the cohopficity of such groups is not determined by the numbers of their ends and the cohopficity is not preserved by finite index subgroups.
