The strength problem for a body with an artificial defect in the form of a hole is considered. To solve this problem, an approach is suggested according to which the local strength of a material in the area of stress concentration is assumed to depend on the size of this area. The scale of the problem is introduced via the ratio between the characteristic sizes of the deformed area and the characteristic length of the material. This approach is used to estimate the strength of composite laminates weakened by holes and notches. Expressions for the failure stress are obtained, which can be applied to isotropic and orthotropic laminates both in quasi-brittle failure and in failure associated with significant inelastic deformations. A comparison between the calculated c values and the known experimental data for glass/epoxy and graphite/epoxy laminates is presented.  相似文献

Composite structures consisting of an epoxy resin matrix filled with a porous perlite containing a finely dispersed polyvinyl chloride are investigated. Models of the composites are analyzed in which the formation of a transition layer between the filler particles and the matrix may arise as a result of interaction between the separate components. The influence of the perlite and plasticized polyvinyl chloride particles on epoxy composite characteristics, such as the bending, tensile, impact, and adhesion strengths, are studied.  相似文献

In the paper, the bending stiffness and strength of multilayer structural elements in relation to the mechanical properties of layers and their number layout and sizes are investigated and the corresponding correlations are established. It is found that the most rational structure of a multilayer element in bending is a symmetric three-layer structure formed from two materials with the thickness of the core less than the half-thickness of the element. The values of normal stresses in the layers of a multilayer beam in bending depends on its bending stiffness and the position of layers relative to the neutral axis. The influence of the number of layers on the stiffness of the structural element and on the magnitude of normal stresses is insignificant.  相似文献

本文研究了反射型激波风洞中由于非完全反射对激波与壁面边界层相互作用的影响,给出了在反射激波坐标系中计算边界层速度分布、温度分布和马赫数分布的计算方法.算例表明,在计及氮气的平衡真实气体效应的情形下,随着入射激波马赫数Ms的增大,边界层的最小马赫数从壁面处移到边界层内;随着喷管喉道面积的增大,边界层的最小马赫数、反射激波的分叉角α和分叉区后的射流速度均随之减小.计算结果与实验值相比是一致的.  相似文献

The problem on the diffraction of the electromagnetic plane wave on a small obstacle included in a layer is investigated. The obstacle is assumed to be an elliptic cylinder whose diameter and focal distance are small in comparison with the length of the incident wave. It is proved that the small obstacle radiates as a point source, and its amplitude is proportional to the area of the cross-section and the jumps of the dielectric and magnetic constants on the interfaces. Results from an experimental study on the delamination of a unidirectional carbon fiber/epoxy composite by using the four-point bend end-notched flexure (4ENF) test are presented. It was found that the compliance data obtained in load-unload-reload and continuous loading tests were very similar. The R-curves for specimens of different thickness were also found experimentally. These curves showed an appreciable toughening with crack advance, which can be explained by the presence of fiber bridging. Properties of a model composite based on an ED-22 epoxy binder, cured with polyprophylene polyamine, and disperse LiF crystals as a filler were investigated by the methods of dilatometry and X-ray diffractometry. It was established that the density of cross-links of the epoxy binder in the interphase layer was lower than in a block specimen. Therefore, the thermal expansion of the composite on heating to 120°C, in terms of that of the binder, grew significantly with the degree of filling ϕ, and the water uptake also increased at the initial stage. The presence of absorbed water led to considerable changes in the structure and properties of the composite interphase: the binder became more cross-linked, its structural ordering decreased, the thermal expansion at heating diminished by a factor of 3. 7 (at ϕ = 50%), and the glass-transition temperature increased. We consider the double layer potential operator W defined on the polyhedral boundary of an infinite cone and prove the invertibility of (I±2W) in the space of continuous functions. To do this we define an operator-valued symbol function for W and show that the spectral radii of its values are less than one half. In the last part of this paper we consider a piecewise constant collocation method for the numerical solution of the double layer potential equation over the boundary of a bounded polyhedron.  相似文献

A problem when filtering measurements of the sea-surface level is that the highest values, which are also the most interesting, might get lost. The rainflow filter is an alternative to the band-pass filters traditionally used. In this paper we investigate the properties of rainflow filtering by examining the distributions of some characteristic wave parameters. These distributions are calculated by means of the regression-approximation method which requires as input a spectral density. An approximation of the rainflow filter in the frequency domain, obtained by spectral simulation, is therefore used. The rainflow filter yields results which are closer to the distributions obtained from the original spectrum with high-frequency contents.  相似文献

The response of a weak interface inside an isotropic elastic medium to an approaching source is considered. It is shown that a strong shear wave arises in the wave field reflected at an angle greater than a critical one. Properties of this wave are studied, and theoretical seismograms describing the contribution of all reflected waves to the total field are presented. A mixed problem for the nonlinear Bogoyavlenskii system on the half-line is studied by the inverse problem method. The solution of the mixed problem is reduced to the solution of the inverse spectral problem of recovering a forth-order differential operator on the half-line from the Weyl matrix. We derive evolution equations for the elements of the Weyl matrix and give an algorithm for the solution of the mixed problem. Evolution equations of the elements of the Weyl matrix are nonlinear. It is shown that they can be reduced to a nested system of three successively solvable matrix Riccati equations.  相似文献

Solutions of a forced (inhomogeneous) partial differential equation of the second order with two types of nonlinearity: power (quadratic) and nonanalytic (modular) are found. Equations containing each of these nonlinearities separately were studied earlier. A natural continuation of these studies is the development of the theory of wave phenomena in a medium with a double nonlinearity, which have recently been observed in experiments. Here solutions describing the profiles of intense waves are derived. Shapes of freely propagating stationary perturbations in the form of shock waves with a finite front width are found. The profiles of forced waves excited by external sources are calculated.

The solution of an infinite plane containing a macro crack and a cluster of micro cracks under uniaxial tensile load was presented based on Muskhelishvili’s complex function method and the stepwise recursive method. The stress field and stress intensity factor K were obtained. Combined with the damage mechanics, damage parameter D of the macro-crack tip and the micro-crack tip under uniaxial tension was redefined, and the influence of different damage zone forms on the damage of the crack tip was analyzed. The results show that, both the chain-distribution and the reverse-chain-distribution micro cracks have an amplifying effect on the macro crack growth, and the damage parameter increases with the decrease of the inclination angle of the micro crack and the reduction of the distance between the macro crack and the micro cracks. For a relatively small inclination angle of the micro crack, the damage parameters of the macro crack and the micro crack heightens, and the damage parameter of the macro crack increases with the micro-crack length. For evenly distributed micro cracks in the continuous damage zone, the micro cracks have an amplifying effect on the macro-crack growth, and the damage parameter of the macro crack increases with the micro-crack number. © 2022 Editorial Office of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics.
