A series of novel structurally well‐defined oligothienylene–ethynylene‐based dendritic macromolecules up to the 3rd generation (G3) were successfully synthesized by a combination of Pd‐catalyzed Sonogashira‐type cross‐coupling and oxidative homocoupling steps. Oxidative homocoupling of dendrons successfully afforded dendrimers up to the 2nd generation (G2). In contrast, the G3 dendrimer was effectively prepared by a four‐fold Sonogashira‐type cross‐coupling reaction. All compounds showed broad and structureless absorption and emission spectra arising from the presence of different π‐conjugated chromophores. With increasing generation, a bathochromic shift of the π–π* absorption band and an increase of the absorption coefficient were observed. The insertion of ethynylene groups into the conjugated dendrimer backbone resulted in a hypsochromic shift compared to all‐thiophene dendrimers reported earlier by our group. All dendritic compounds are fluorescent and showed moderate quantum efficiencies due to an effective intramolecular charge‐transfer (ICT) process. Cyclic voltammetry measurements also revealed the presence of multiple π‐conjugative pathways that show very broad oxidation waves for higher generations. HOMO–LUMO energy levels of these dendrons and dendrimers were estimated from optical and redox measurements and the calculated band gaps were within the range of 3.3 to 2.4 eV, typical for oligo‐ and polythiophenes. Electrochemical polymerizations of several desilylated compounds were performed and characterization of the films is reported. Preliminary bulk heterojunction solar cells that utilise these ethynylated dendrimers as the donor and [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM[60]) as the acceptor showed moderate efficiencies ranging from 0.18–0.64 %.  相似文献

A new class of semi-flexible dendrimers with oligothiophene (OT) arms up to the third generation have been synthesized and investigated. The synthetic methods employed include a combination of palladium-catalyzed Stille cross-coupling reactions for oligothiophenes, Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions for building blocks, and carbodiimide-mediated esterification for building up the various dendrimers. The optical and electrochemical properties of this series of oligothiophenes-based dendrimers are shown to be strongly influenced by their morphologies as demonstrated by their pronounced solvatochromic and thermochromic responses under different environmental conditions. Introducing rigid oligothiophene arms to shape non-persistent ester-linked dendrimers causes higher generation dendrimers (G2 and G3) to exhibit solvatochromism and thermochromism, while their oligomeric counterpart (3b) and lower generation (G1) analogue do not. Spectroscopic changes due to both intramolecular and intermolecular aggregations are observed.  相似文献

Dendronization of a hyperbranched polyester with different generation dendrons leads to pseudo‐dendritic structures. The hyperbranched core is modified by the divergent coupling of protected monomer units to the functional groups. Compared to dendrimers, the synthetic effort is significantly less, but the properties are very close to those of high‐generation dendrimers. The number of functional groups, molar mass, and rheology behavior even in the early generation (G1–G4) pseudo‐dendrimers strongly resembles the behavior of dendrimers in higher generations (G5–G8). Comparison of the segmental and internal structure with perfect dendrimers is performed using SANS, dynamic light scattering and viscosity analysis, microscopy and molecular dynamics simulation. The interpretation of the results reveals unique structural characteristics arising from lower segmental density of the core, which turns into a soft nano‐sphere with a smooth surface even in the first generation.  相似文献

6FDA-polyimide films modified by polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers with generations of 0, 1, and 2 are reported in this article. The actual molecular conformation and bulk size of these three generation dendrimers immobilized on polyimide surface were characterized by atomic force microscopy. After comparing with the results of dynamic simulation, we believe that the disk-shape cluster structure of dendrimers has been developed on the polymer surfaces. The amidation and cross-linking reaction between dendrimers and polyimide were examined and quantified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and gel content measurements. Modification time and the generations of PAMAM dendrimer have been verified as two important factors in determining the properties of modified polyimide films. These modified polyimide films exhibit excellent gas separation performance. The ideal selectivity of He/N(2) increases tremendously to about 200% as compared to that of the original polyimide film. Particularly, the separation performance of CO(2)/CH(4) gas pair can be improved beyond the upper bond limit possibly due to the strong interactions of dendrimer molecules with CO(2), which was verified by sorption tests.  相似文献

Two series of uracil‐functionalized dendritic macromolecules based on poly (amidoamine) PAMAM and 2,2‐bis(hydroxymethylpropionic acid) bis‐MPA backbones were prepared and their photoinduced (2π+2π) cycloaddition reactions upon exposure to UV light at 257 nm examined. Dendrimers up to 4th generation were synthesized and investigated as potential materials for high capacity optical data storage with their dimerization efficiency compared to uracil as a reference compound. This allows the impact of increasing the generation number of the dendrimers, both the number of chromophores, as well as the different steric environments, on the performance of each series of dendrimers to be investigated. The (uracil)12‐[G‐2]‐bis‐MPA and (uracil)8‐[G‐1]‐PAMAM were observed to have high dimerization efficiency in solution with different behavior being observed for the PAMAM and bis‐MPA dendrimers. The dendrimers with the best dimerization efficiency in solution were then examined in the solid state as thin films cast on quartz plates, and their film qualities along with their photodimerization performance studied. High quality films with a transmission response of up to 70% in 55 s. when irradiated at 257 nm with an intensity of 70 mW/cm2 could be obtained suggesting future use as recording media for optical data storage. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Peptide dendrimers with multiple histidines or N-terminal prolines efficiently catalyze ester hydrolysis or aldol reactions in aqueous medium. Part of the catalytic proficiency of these dendritic enzyme models stems from multivalency effects observed in G2, G3 and G4 dendrimers displaying multiple catalytic groups in their branches. To study multivalency in higher generation systems, G4, G5 and G6 peptide dendrimers were prepared by a convergent assembly. Thus, peptide dendrimers bearing four or eight chloroacetyl groups at their N-termini underwent multiple thioether ligation with G2 and G3 peptide dendrimers with a cysteine residue at their focal point, to give G4, G5 and G6 dendrimers containing up to 341 amino acids, including multiple histidines or N-terminal prolines. While the efficiency of the esterase catalysts was comparable to that of their lower generation analogs, a remarkable reactivity increase was observed in G5 and G6 aldolase dendrimers.  相似文献

Herein, high‐generation dendrimers G4‐NS and G5‐NS , which contained 30 and 62 azo‐benzene chromophore moieties, respectively, were conveniently prepared in high purity and satisfied yields by a combination of divergent and convergent approaches, coupled with the utilization of the powerful Sharpless click reaction. These dendrimers possessed a regular structure of alternating layers of nitro‐based and sulfonyl‐based azo chromophores in which the sulfonyl‐based azo‐chromophore moieties were utilized as co‐isolation groups for the nitro‐based moieties to achieve larger macroscopic second‐order nonlinear optical (NLO) effects. These high‐generation dendrimers ( G4‐NS and G5‐NS ) displayed very large NLO efficiencies (up to 253.0 pm V?1), which is, to the best of our knowledge, the record highest efficiency for simple azo‐chromophore moieties.  相似文献

A new class of pi-conjugated dendrimers G0, G1, and G2 was developed through a double-stage divergent/convergent growth approach, in which 5,5,10,10,15,15-hexahexyltruxene was employed as the node and oligo(thienylethynylene)s (OTEs) with different lengths as the branching moieties. The dendrimers were fully characterized by (1)H and (13)C NMR, elemental analysis, gel permeation chromatography, and MALDI-TOF MS. Also, by using atomic force microscopy, it was observed that dendrimer G2 laid nearly flat on the mica surface as a single molecule. Dynamic light scattering results showed that the molecule retained its relatively flat shape in solution. To our best knowledge, dendrimer G2, with a radius approaching 10 nm and a molecular weight of 27 072 Da, was the largest among reported second generation dendrimers. The energy gradient in G2 was constructed by linking OTEs of increasing effective conjugation lengths from the dendritic rim to the core. The intramolecular energy transfer process was studied using steady-state UV-vis absorption and photoluminescent spectroscopies, as well as time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. Our structurally extended dendrimers showed an excellent energy funneling ability (their energy transfer efficiencies were all over 95%). All results demonstrate that these dendrimers are promising candidates as light-harvesting materials for optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

The structural properties of melts of poly(butyl)carbosilane (PBC) dendrimers of the third (G3), fifth (G5), and sixth (G6) generations were studied by molecular dynamics simulation at 600 K. A substantial difference was found between the density of the melt of the G6 generation dendrimer and the densities of the melts of the G3 and G5 generation dendrimers. The obtained computer simulation results do not confirm the hypothesis that these differences are caused by physical entanglements between the branches of the neighboring dendrimers (which take place for G6 to a higher extent) and indicate, most likely, the minimization of the interdendrimer free volume due to a more regular packing.  相似文献

Various generations (G1-G8) of negatively charged poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) succinamic acid dendrimers (PAMAM-SAH) were analyzed by CE using a poly(vinyl alcohol)-coated capillary. Due to its excellent stability and osmotic flow-shielding effect, highly reproducible migration times were achieved for all generations of dendrimer (e.g., RSD for the migration times of G5 dendrimer was 0.6%). We also observed a reverse trend in migration times for the PAMAM-SAH dendrimers (i.e., higher generations migrated faster than lower generation dendrimers) compared to amine-terminated PAMAM dendrimers reported in the literature. This reversal in migration times was attributed to the difference in counterion binding around these negatively charged dendrimers. This reverse trend allowed a generational separation for lower generation (G1-G3) dendrimers. However, a sufficient resolution for the migration peaks of higher generations (G4-G5) in a mixture could not be achieved. This could be due to their nearly identical charge/mass ratio and dense molecular conformations. In addition, we show that dye-functionalized PAMAM-SAH dendrimers can also be analyzed with high reproducibility using this method.  相似文献

Gn (n = 3, 4, and 5) poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers were synthesized and peripherally modified with photocleavable o‐nitrobenzyl (NB) groups by reacting o‐nitrobenzaldehyde with the terminal amine groups of PAMAM dendrimers, followed by reducing the imine to amine groups with NaBH4. The NB‐modified dendrimers, Gn‐NB (n = 3, 4, and 5), were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The results showed that the NB groups were successfully attached on the periphery of the dendrimers with near 100% grafting efficiency. Such a photosensitive NB shell could be cut off on irradiation with 365 nm ultraviolet (UV) light. The encapsulation and release of guest molecules, that is, salicylic acid (SA) and adriamycin (ADR), by Gn‐NB were explored. The encapsulation capability of these dendrimers was found to increase as the guest molecular size was decreased and have dependence on the generation of dendrimers as well. For both of SA and ADR, the average encapsulation numbers per dendrimer decreased in the order of G4‐NB > G5‐NB > G3‐NB, indicating that the fourth generation dendrimer was a better container for the guest molecules. The rate of SA release was found to be greater with UV irradiation than that without, suggesting that the NB‐shelled PAMMAM dendrimers could function as a molecular container/box with photoresponsive characteristics. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The first four generations of cobaltocenium-functionalized, diaminobutane-based poly(propylene imine) dendrimers DAB-dend-Cb,(PFb)x (x = 4, 8, 16, and 32; Cb=[Co(eta5-C5H4CONH)(eta5-C5H5)] (1-4) have been synthesized and characterized. The redox activity of the cobaltocenium centers in 1-4 has been characterized by using cyclic voltammetry and the electrochemical quartz-crystal microbalance (EQCM). All of the dendrimers exhibit reversible redox chemistry associated with the cobaltocenium/cobaltocene redox couple. Upon reduction. the dendrimers exhibit a tendency to electrodeposit onto the electrode surface, which is more pronounced for the higher generations. Pt and glassy carbon electrodes could be modified with films derived from 1-4,exhibiting a well-defined and persistent electrochemical response. EQCM measurements show that the dendrimers adsorb, at open circuit, onto platinum surfaces at monolayer or submonolayer coverage. Cathodic potential scanning past -0.75 V at which the cobaltocenium sites are reduced, gave rise to the electrodeposition of multilayer equivalents of the dendrimers. The additional material gradually desorbs upon re-oxidation so that only a monolayer equivalent remains on the electrode surface. Changes in film morphology as a function of dendrimer generation and surface coverage were studied by using admittance measurements of the quartz-crystal resonator on the basis of its electrical equivalent circuit, especially in terms of its resistance parameter. In general, we find that films of the lower dendrimer generation 1 behave rigidly, whereas those of the higher generation 4 exhibit viscoelastic behavior with an intermediate behavior being exhibited by 2 and 3. Using tapping-mode atomic force microscopy (AFM). we have been able to obtain molecularly resolved images of dendrimer 4 adsorbed on a Pt(111) electrode.  相似文献

Polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers of different generations (G2 and G4) conjugated with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), PAMAM (G2, G4)-CD, were synthesized using substitution reaction from mono-6-iodine-β-cyclodextrin and PAMAM dendrimers. The resulting molecular structures were characterized by NMR, IR. The molecular interaction between various dendrimers and levofloxacin lactate (LFL) were investigated by monitoring the fluorescence of LFL in the presence of dendrimers in buffer solution (pH 7.4) at 25?°C. It was found that the PAMAM (G2, G4)-CD possesses higher sensitizing ability than that of the corresponding parent dendrimers and natural β-CD, and increases concomitantly with the increases of generation and content of β-CD, suggesting that the PAMAM (G2, G4)-CD possesses stronger inclusion ability with LFL. The possible interaction mechanism between PAMAM-CD and LFL was proposed by 1H NMR analysis and theoretical calculation. The results show that the LFL molecule is located at the amine end of dendrimer molecule and along the side of cyclodextrin cavities to form supramolecular complexes. Furthermore, results indicate that the main driving force of the complex could be attributed to the electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonding between LFL and PAMAM-CD, as well as the synergistic effect of intermolecular forces.  相似文献

Fragmentation of different generations of poly(amidoamine) dendrimers was explored in five common MALDI matrices: 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHB), 4-hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamic acid (FER), α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (ACH), 2,4,6-trihydroxyacetophenone (THAP), and 3-hydroxypicolinic acid (HPA). Of these, DHB was the softest matrix and ACH produced significant fragment intensity already at MALDI threshold, FER and THAP being in between. HPA was not a convenient matrix for dendrimers and produced a specific fragmentation pattern. Fragmentation analysis was mainly concentrated on generation G1, which contains already all essential structural elements. Dendrimers showed complicated fragmentation behavior with multiple fragmentation channels in our MALDI experiments. The relative intensities of these channels depended selectively on choice of the matrix and showed dissimilar dependence on the laser pulse energy. This was attributed to different fragmentation mechanisms, due to different protonation pathways, occurring in the same MALDI plume. The fragmentation pathways were proposed for all observed fragmentation channels. All fragmentation sites of protonated ions were found to be directly attached to the protonation sites and the fragmentation was surplus charge driven in this sense. No charge remote fragmentation channels were detected. Cationized dendrimers showed higher stability than the protonated ions.  相似文献

Solid-phase synthetic templates for Au nanoparticles were developed using Merrifield resins and polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers. This synthetic scheme affords the opportunity to prepare metal nanoparticles in the absence of air and water, and it does not necessitate phase transfer agents that can be difficult to remove in subsequent steps. Amine-terminated generation 5 PAMAM (G5NH2) dendrimers were grafted to anhydride functionalized polystyrene resin beads and alkylated with 1,2-epoxydodecane to produce G5C12anch. The anchored dendrimers bound both CoII and AuIII salts from toluene solutions at ratios comparable to those of solution phase alkyl-terminated PAMAM dendrimers. The encapsulated AuIII salts could be reduced with NaBH4 to produce anchored dendrimer encapsulated nanoparticles (DENs). Treatment of the anchored DENs with decanethiol in toluene extracted the Au nanoparticles from the dendrimers as monolayer protected clusters (MPCs). After a brief NaCN etch, the anchored dendrimers were readily recycled and a subsequent synthesis of decanethiol Au MPCs was performed with comparable MPC yield and particle size distribution.  相似文献

The effect of nonlocal interactions on the local structural propensities of folded dendrimers was evaluated in this work by comparing, under identical conditions, the conformational properties of isomeric dendrimers differing in their global packing efficiency. Accordingly, a modular synthesis of two series of dendrimers up to the third generation was developed to provide efficient access to isomeric dendrimers displaying different levels of overall compaction. Dendrimer compaction levels were adjusted by connecting the folded dendrons to 1,3,5-benzenetricarbonyl chloride, as the central core, via either a 2- or a 4-aminobenzamide linkage to induce relatively "compacted" or "expanded" conformations, respectively. The hydrodynamic volumes of the dendrimers were measured by time-resolved fluorescence anisotropy (TRFA) measurements as a function of the dendrimer series, generation level, and solvent. Packing efficiencies (compaction levels) were estimated by the ratio (V(h)/V(vw)) of the experimental hydrodynamic volume (V(h)) to the calculated van der Waals volume (V(vw)). The extent and stability of local helical bias was measured using circular dichroism and correlated with the packing efficiency (V(h)/V(vw)). These studies suggested that compaction plays an extremely important role in determining the secondary structural preferences of the dendrimers; however, the nature of compaction was more important than the extent of compaction.  相似文献

Novel amine- and ammonium-terminated carbosilane dendrimers of type G(n)-[Si{CH(2)O-(C(6)H(4))-3-NMe(2)}](x) or G(n)-[Si{CH(2)O-(C(6)H(4))-3-NMe(3)(+)I(-)}](x) have been synthesized and characterized up to second generation by phenolysis of (chloromethyl)silyl-terminated dendrimers with 3-dimethylamine phenol and subsequent quaternization with methyl iodide. Quaternized carbosilane dendrimers are stable in protic solvents and can be solubilised in water after the addition of less than 1% of dimethyl sulfoxide. A study of the antimicrobial activity of these cationic dendrimers of first and second generation against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria is also described. The results obtained demonstrate that the new ammonium-terminated carbosilane dendrimers can be considered as multivalent biocides.  相似文献
