The contribution of pseudoscalar particles (0-mesons and Higgs bosons) to the elastic scattering amplitude of a lepton in the field of a flat elliptically polarized electromagnetic wave is computed by using dispersion relations. The polarization effects are considered. By a limit transition, the contribution of pseudoscalar particles to the amplitude is found in a constant crossed field.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 1, pp. 85–90, January, 1991.  相似文献

The spectrum of meson and diquark excitations of dense quark matter is considered in the framework of the Nambu–Jona-Lasinio model with three types of massless quarks in the presence of a quark number chemical potential μ. We investigate the effective action of meson and diquark fields both at sufficiently large values of μ>μc≈  330 MeV, where the color–flavor locked (CFL) phase is realized, and in the chirally broken phase of quark matter (μ<μc). In the latter case all nine pseudoscalar mesons are Nambu–Goldstone (NG) bosons, whereas the mass of the scalar meson nonet is twice the dynamical quark mass. In the chirally broken phase the pseudoscalar diquarks are not allowed to exist as stable particles, but the scalar diquarks might be stable only at a rather strong interaction in the diquark channel. In the case of the CFL phase, all NG bosons of the model are realized as scalar and pseudoscalar diquarks. Moreover, it turns out that massive diquark excitations are unstable for this phase. In particular, for the scalar and pseudoscalar octets of diquark resonances a mass value around 230 MeV was found numerically. In contrast, mesons are stable particles in the CFL phase. Their masses lie in the interval 400–500 MeV for not too large values of μ>μc. PACS 11.30.Qc; 12.38.-t; 12.39.-x  相似文献

The role of chiral transformations in effective theories modeling Quantum Chromo Dynamics is reviewed. In the context of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model the hidden gauge and massive Yang-Mills approaches to vector mesons are linked by a special chiral transformation which removes the chiral field from the scalar-pseudoscalar sector. The chirally rotated axial vector meson field (à μ ) transforms homogeneously under flavor rotations and may thus be dropped without violating chiral symmetry. The fermion determinant for static meson field configurations is computed by summing the discretized eigenvalues of the Dirac Hamiltonian. It is discussed how the local chiral transformation loses its unitary character in a finite model space. This technical issue proves to be crucial for the construction of the soliton within the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model when the chirally rotated axial vector field is neglected. In the background of this soliton the valence quark is strongly bound, and its eigenenergy turns out to be negative. This important feature, which usually is generated by non-vanishing axial vector profiles, is thus maintained by the simplificationà μ = 0.  相似文献

The external-magnetic-field-induced interaction of a pseudoscalar particle with a photon is investigated in e?e+ plasma. The familon arising upon the breakdown of a horizontal symmetry between fermion generations is considered for a pseudoscalar particle. The expressions for the plasma and the field contribution to the effective familon-photon coupling are derived in the limit of strongly magnetized plasma and the limit where the plasma being considered occurs in a relatively weak magnetic field.  相似文献

The strong anomaly in the axial vector current divergence is simply related to the mass of the ninth pseudoscalar meson in an SU (3) × SU (3) quark model. A discussion is given of the dependence of the pseudoscalar meson masses upon quark masses as well as upon the strong coupling; the SU (3) character of the states is also treated.  相似文献

This is a second study of chiral anomaly-induced transport within a holographic model consisting of anomalous \(U(1)_V\times U(1)_A\) Maxwell theory in Schwarzschild–AdS\(_5\) spacetime. In the first part, chiral magnetic/separation effects (CME/CSE) are considered in the presence of a static spatially inhomogeneous external magnetic field. Gradient corrections to CME/CSE are analytically evaluated up to third order in the derivative expansion. Some of the third order gradient corrections lead to an anomaly-induced negative \(B^2\)-correction to the diffusion constant. We also find modifications to the chiral magnetic wave nonlinear in B. In the second part, we focus on the experimentally interesting case of the axial chemical potential being induced dynamically by a constant magnetic and time-dependent electric fields. Constitutive relations for the vector/axial currents are computed employing two different approximations: (a) derivative expansion (up to third order) but fully nonlinear in the external fields, and (b) weak electric field limit but resuming all orders in the derivative expansion. A non-vanishing nonlinear axial current (CSE) is found in the first case. The dependence on magnetic field and frequency of linear transport coefficient functions is explored in the second.  相似文献

A gauge-invariant regularization of a massive spinor field interacting with external scalar, pseudoscalar, vector and axial fields is found. It is based on ? separating the vertices in the total Lagrangian. Rules for its use are deduced and Ward identities are written. Anomalies, present only in the divergence of the axial current, are interpreted as the high-energy contribution of the intergrals associated with some loops. They can be computed in a simple way, confirming Bardeen's result.  相似文献

We investigate the equivalence between Thirring model and sine-Gordon model in the chirally broken phase of the Thirring model. This is unlike all other available approaches where the fermion fields of the Thirring model were quantized in the chiral symmetric phase. In the path integral approach we show that the bosonized version of the massless Thirring model is described by a quantum field theory of a massless scalar field and exactly solvable, and the massive Thirring model bosonizes to the sine-Gordon model with a new relation between the coupling constants. We show that the non-perturbative vacuum of the chirally broken phase in the massless Thirring model can be described in complete analogy with the BCS ground state of superconductivity. The Mermin–Wagner theorem and Coleman's statement concerning the absence of Goldstone bosons in the 1+1-dimensional quantum field theories are discussed. We investigate the current algebra in the massless Thirring model and give a new value of the Schwinger term. We show that the topological current in the sine-Gordon model coincides with the Noether current responsible for the conservation of the fermion number in the Thirring model. This allows one to identify the topological charge in the sine-Gordon model with the fermion number. Recent measurements ofμ-capture in He3 as well as the determination of the electric and magnetic formfactors of He3 and H3 allow a detailed analysis of theμ-capture process in He3. Assuming only the theory of a conserved vector current these experiments can be used to derive a relation for the axial vector part of the He3→H3 transition amplitude. This result is compared with a nuclear physics calculation of the formfactors. It follows that the induced pseudoscalar coupling constant for the muon capture on a free proton has a sign in agreement with the value predicted byGoldberger andTreiman. Its magnitude seems to be somewhat larger than the predicted value. We also find qualitative agreement with an extension ofNambu's idea of an almost conserved axial vector current to the case of the He3→H3 transition.  相似文献

A chiral Lagrangian for massive pseudoscalar mesons is derived from the QCD-generating functional by the chiral bosonization method. The low energy region in the fermionic integral where chiral noninvariant quark fluctuations dominate, is described by two mass parameters — an invariant cutoff and a spectral asymmetry M related to the gluon and quark condensates.  相似文献

We have calculated the magnetic field distribution and the resistance of a homogeneous type II superconductor cylinder at transition under the influence of axial current in zero external magnetic field. In this calculation we have expressed the magnetic field dependence on flow resistivity f by two or more potential functions and have shown that the accuracy of this approximation is sufficient. For some values of the lower critical field and various temperatures, the magnetic field distribution and the resistance of the cylinder are calculated as a function of the applied electrical field and/or the applied current. The temperature dependence of the electric field at which, the normal state appears on the surface of the cylinder is also given.  相似文献

The effective chiral Lagrangian is derived from QCD in the framework of the field correlator method. It contains the effects of both confinement and chiral symmetry breaking due to a special structure of the resulting quark mass operator. It is shown that this Lagrangian describes light pseudoscalar mesons, and Gell-Mann-Oakes-Renner relations for pions, eta and K mesons are reproduced. The spectrum of radial excitations of pions and K mesons is found and compared to experimentally known masses.  相似文献

The behavior of the axial next-nearest-neighbor Ising (ANNNI) model in an external magnetic field is investigated using a low-temperature expansion of the free energy. Unusual cascades of phase transitions and complete devil's staircases, unexpected for the ANNNI model, are found.  相似文献

We study chargino pair production on the heavy Higgs resonances at a muon collider in the MSSM. At GeV cross sections up to 2 pb are reached depending on the supersymmetric scenario and the beam energy spread. The resonances of the scalar and pseudoscalar Higgs bosons may be separated for . Our aim is to determine the ratio of the chargino couplings to the heavy scalar and pseudoscalar Higgs boson independently of the specific chargino decay characteristics. The precision of the measurement depends on the energy resolution of the muon collider and on the error in the measurement of the cross sections of the non-Higgs channels including an irreducible standard model background. With a high energy resolution the systematic error can be reduced to the order of a few percent.Received: 6 March 2003, Revised: 21 May 2003, Published online: 3 July 2003  相似文献

The effect of quark-gluon vertex dressing on the ground-state masses of the u/d-quark pseudoscalar, vector and axialvector mesons is considered with the Dyson-Schwinger equations. This extends the ladder-rainbow Bethe-Salpeter kernel to two-loops. To render the calculations feasible for this exploratory study, we employ a simple infrared dominant model for the gluon exchange that implements the vertex dressing. The resulting model, involving two distinct representations of the effective gluon exchange kernel, preserves both the axial-vector Ward-Takahashi identity and charge conjugation symmetry. Numerical results confirm that the pseudoscalar meson retains its Goldstone boson character. The vector meson mass, already at a very acceptable value at ladder level, receives only 30MeV of attraction from this vertex dressing. For the axial-vector states, which are about 300MeV too low in ladder approximation, the results are mixed: The 1+– state receives 290MeV of repulsion, but the 1++ state is lowered further by 30MeV. The exotic channels 0–– and 1–+ are found to have no states below 1.5GeV in this model.  相似文献

The effect of the isobaric excitations on the weak axial coupling constants in nuclei is studied through P.C.A.C. We first establish the Klein-Gordon equation for the virtual pion field in the nucleus; it takes into account pion rescattering. The influence of isobar excitation is contained in the axial polarizability coefficient which is linked to the p-wave π-N scattering volume. The derivation of this equation stresses its analogies with electromagnetism. We give then a basic relation between the axial current and the pionic field. It incorporates the effects of the isobars in the axial polarizability, which leads naturally to an electromagnetic analog. We show that this relation leads in heavy nuclei to a quenching of the axial coupling constant by the Lorentz-Lorenz factor, which may originate from the short range or the Pauli correlations, depending on the range of the π-N forces. Hence this quenching may have a different origin than the existence of short-range correlations and may arise from a Pauli blocking effect. On the other hand, the pseudoscalar coupling constant is found to be strongly suppressed. In finite nuclei, these basic quenchings can be masked by surface effects, the general features of which are studied with the help of a solvable model. This model is further used to obtain the asymptotic pion field which is linked to the effective pion-nucleus coupling constant and can be determined experimentally through π-nucleus dispersion relations. We find that this quantity is quenched, in agreement with recent experimental data.  相似文献

The derivative coupling of massless pseudoscalar neutral particles with a charged spinor field in two-dimensional space-time is reduced to a self-interacting spinor field and a free pseudoscalar field.More generally, it is shown that any given local field theory with a conserved vector current and without massless particles can be extended to a local theory with an additional pseudoscalar field and with aU 1×U 1 symmetry.  相似文献
