The second harmonic generated by non-linear self interaction of a magneto-acoustic wave in a planar plasma-filled waveguide is a freely propagating mode. Coupled-mode equations for resonant nonlinear interaction of this second harmonic mode with the fundamental mode are derived. Using these equations the possibility of generation of the second harmonic is analysed.  相似文献

The behavior of a quasi-monochromatic nonlinear wave near a caustic is considered. Nonlinear ordinary differential equations for a dispersive dissipative medium with a cubic or quadratic nonlinearity are derived. For the latter medium, nonstationary equations describing it near the caustic are presented with allowance for the dissipative dispersive terms. These equations yield ordinary ones for quasi-monochromatic waves. The amplitude of the second harmonic is expressed in terms of the squared amplitude of the first harmonic. The amplitude of the second harmonic, as well as the solution as a whole, increases near the caustic.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the first, second and third harmonic lateral vibrations of a string having a forced, periodic, small length variation. Account is taken of the non-linear term arising from the correction to the tension of the string due to local elongation. It is found that increasing the amplitude of the length variation of the string results in a narrowing of the frequency response range of each of the harmonic oscillation components. Both numerical and analytical calculations of the harmonic frequency responses have been carried out The relationships for initial values between the original differential equation and the approximate differential equations for the harmonic responses are discussed in detail.  相似文献

Second harmonic generation (SHG) using intense Hermite-Gaussian laser beam (HGLB) propagating through the plasma for mode-indices m = 0 and m = 1 is reported in the present work. Ponderomotive force induced density perturbation beats with the oscillatory velocity of electrons at incident laser frequency, generate the second harmonic nonlinear current that give rise to SHG. Using paraxial approximations, we have derived the coupled equations for the beam width parameter of HGLB and second harmonic's normalized amplitude. Resonance condition is obtained by considering wiggler magnetic field which providing an extra momentum to the second harmonic photon and this result a significant increase in the amplitude of SHG. Our analysis shows the prominent rise in normalized amplitude of second harmonic on increasing the value of the intensity of fundamental laser pulse, normalized wiggler magnetic field and normalized density of plasma. It is notified that the gain of SHG is more prominent for m = 1. Dependency of laser and plasma parameters on SHG is also reported in the current work.  相似文献

同时考察了群速色散失配、最低阶群速色散和二阶群速色散。研究了在BBO晶体中飞秒激光脉冲的谐产生,计算了BBO晶体的作为波长函数的晶体的最低阶和二谐群速色散,借助求解改进的耦合波方程的数值计算,得到了飞秒脉冲的二次及三次谐波辐射,分析了最低工阶及二阶GVD对于基波脉冲和谐波脉的影响,最后考虑了三次谐波产生中群速失配的补偿。  相似文献

The amplitude-phase effects of self-action and generation of the second harmonic are observed for a low-frequency longitudinal acoustic wave propagating in dry and water-saturated (wet) river sand under a static load. On the basis of the measured dependences of the amplitude and phase delay of the fundamental frequency’s carrier wave and its second harmonic’s amplitude on the initial wave’s amplitude, equations of state are proposed for dry and water-saturated sand. The parameters of these equations are determined from the comparison of analytic calculations with experimental data.  相似文献

Parametric simultaneous solitary wave (simulton) excitations are shown to be possible in nonlinear lattices. Taking a one-dimensional diatomic lattice with a cubic potential as an example, we consider the nonlinear coupling between the upper cut-off mode of acoustic branch (as a fundamental wave) and the upper cut-off mode of optical branch (as a second harmonic wave). Based on a quasi-discreteness approach the Karamzin-Sukhorukov equations for two slowly varying amplitudes of the fundamental and the second harmonic waves in the lattice are derived when the condition of second harmonic generation is satisfied. The lattice simulton solutions are given explicitly and the results show that these lattice simultons can be nonpropagating when the wave vectors of the fundamental wave and the second harmonic waves are exactly at π/a (where a is the lattice constant) and zero, respectively.  相似文献

The electrostatic problem for a thin, unclosed spherical shell and a torus is reduced to paired summation equations in the Legendre polynomials by means of formulas relating the spherical and toroidal harmonic functions. The paired equations are transformed to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Formulas are obtained for computing the charges of the conductors in the form of a series in a small parameter. The capacitance is computed for certain geometrical parameters of the conductors. Zh. This article presents an approximate solution for weak nonlinear standing waves in the interior of an exponential acoustic horn. An analytical approach is chosen assuming one-dimensional plane-wave propagation in a lossless fluid within an exponential horn. The model developed for the propagation of finite-amplitude waves includes linear reflections at the throat and at the mouth of the horn, and neglects boundary layer effects. Starting from the one-dimensional continuity and momentum equations and an isentropic pressure-density relation in Eulerian coordinates, a perturbation analysis is used to obtain a hierarchy of wave equations with nonlinear source terms. Green's theorem is used to obtain a formal solution of the inhomogeneous equation which takes into account linear reflections at the ends of the horn, and the solution is applied to the nonlinear horn problem to yield the acoustic pressure for each order, first in the frequency and then in the time domain. In order to validate the model, an experimental setup for measuring fundamental and second harmonic pressures inside the horn has been developed. For an imposed throat fundamental level, good agreement is obtained between predicted and measured levels (fundamental and second harmonic) at the mouth of the horn.  相似文献

Nonlinear equations characterizing the surface helical instability (SHI) of a semiconducting plasma in semispace are examined. Solutions for the first, zeroth, and second harmonics of the unstable wave are found. In this paper we prove an abstract KAM theorem for infinite dimensional Hamiltonians systems. This result extends previous works of S.B. Kuksin and J. P?schel and uses recent techniques of H. Eliasson and S.B. Kuksin. As an application we show that some 1D nonlinear Schr?dinger equations with harmonic potential admits many quasi-periodic solutions. In a second application we prove the reducibility of the 1D Schr?dinger equations with the harmonic potential and a quasi periodic in time potential.  相似文献

对超短强激光脉冲在CsLiB6O10晶体中的群速失配进行了理论分析,采用傅里叶变换法推导超短脉冲二次谐波的耦合波方程。在Ⅰ类相位匹配下数值计算了脉冲宽度50fs的基波532nm,在CsLiB6O10晶体长度为0.5mm时产生二次谐波(266nm)的群速延迟量约100fs,并且随着晶体长度的增长,二次谐波的脉冲宽度几乎线性展宽。并得到了群速失配量△β1^(2)226.243fs/mm,低阶和二阶群速色散系数分别为β2^(3)=210.120fs^2/mm,β2^(3)=65.587fs^3/mm。其结果表明由于群速延迟和群速色散导致了谐波脉宽展宽和形变。  相似文献

The harmonics of Tollmien—Schlichting waves in a compressible boundary layer of a plate are computed with the aid of nonlinear parabolized stability equations. At the (downstream) growth of the second harmonic amplitude up to the values of the order of the basic harmonic amplitude, the amplification rate of the latter is shown to increase abruptly. A similar rapid deviation from the results of the linear theory characterizes the onset of the boundary-layer transition to turbulent state. The generation of harmonic radiation via a non-linear mechanism, driven by electron bunching at the fundamental frequency, is an important option in the operation of high-gain Free-Electron Lasers (FELs). By utilizing harmonic generation at a large scale facility, the production of intense radiation at shorter wavelengths for the same electron beam energy is feasible. This paper describes a theory of second harmonic generation in planar undulators with particular attention to X-Ray FELs (XFELs). Our study is based on an exact analytical solution of Maxwell’s equations, derived with the help of a Green’s function method. Up-to-date theoretical understanding of second harmonic generation is limited to the estimation of the total radiation power, which is based on a comparison of the right hand side of the wave equation for the first harmonic with the right hand side of the equation for the second harmonic, the latter being incorrectly modified. The exact solution should be obtained by solving the wave equation itself. Our work yields correct parametric dependencies and specific predictions of additional properties such as polarization, angular distribution of the radiation intensity and total power. The most surprising prediction is the presence of a vertically polarized part of the second harmonic radiation, whereas current knowledge predicts a horizontally polarized field.  相似文献

The equations of motion for the propagation of finite amplitude elastic waves in crystals of tetragonal symmetry have been derived starting from the expression for the elastic strain energy. The equations have been solved for a finite amplitude sinusoidal wave propagating along the pure mode directions which are [100], [110] and [001] for the tetragonal group TI. The solutions corresponding to longitudinal wave propagation yield expressions for the amplitudes of the fundamental and generated second harmonic for these directions in terms of certain combinations of second and third order elastic constants of the medium. The results will aid the experimenter to determine these constants using ultrasonic harmonic generation technique.  相似文献

We consider a multistep χ(2) cascading for light pulses with the dispersion of the system taken into account. Using the method of multiple scales we derive a set of coupled envelope equations governing the nonlinear evolution of the fundamental, second and third harmonic waves involved simultaneously in two nonlinear optical processes, i.e. second harmonic generation and sum frequency mixing. We show that three-wave temporal optical solitons are possible in three-and four-step cascading in the presence of a group-velocity mismatch between different pulses.  相似文献

A covariant harmonic analysis is used to determine exact properties of the Einstein-Boltzmann equations. In particular, it is shown that if there are a finite number of harmonic components, or if the first and second harmonic components are zero, then the solutions are kinematically very restricted in many circumstances. Implications for the understanding of the microscopic foundations of perfect fluids and of transport coefficients are discussed.  相似文献
