In this paper, we propose and demonstrated a dual wavelength fiber laser (DWFL) based on the use of an erbium doped fiber (EDF) gain medium as well as an 1 × 24 Arrayed Waveguide Grating (AWG) together with two optical channel selectors (OCS) to provide channel spacing tunability. The output power of the two wavelengths is equalized by controlling the cavity loss in the DWFL using two Programmable Optical Attenuators (POAs). The widest spacing obtained from the DWFL is 18.13 nm while the narrowest spacing is 0.8 nm. The DWFL has good stability with only minor power fluctuations of less than 1.5 dB and a Side Mode Suppression Ratio (SMSR) of approximately 69.1 dB with peak fluctuations of less than 2.3 dB. 相似文献

We analyze the transmission characteristics of a Sagnac loop interferometer containing a polarization-dependent loss element and lossless polarization-converting elements by use of Jones matrices. We show that polarization independence in the transmission mode can be achieved in such a configuration and that maximum transmittance occurs when a half-wave plate is used for the polarization-converting element. The result is verified experimentally for a fiber acousto-optic tunable filter and cascaded long-period fiber gratings with either intrinsic or process-induced polarization-dependent filtering characteristics. 相似文献

A method to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio of ultrashort pulses is presented with picosecond pulses as an example. Numerical simulation and analysis show that the signal-to-noise ratio can be improved by four orders of magnitude using a fiber Sagnac loop with two different fibers. It is also found that there is an optimal length of the fiber for improving the signal-to-noise ratio. This is a useful method for improving the signal-to-noise ratio of the seed light in the chirped pulse amplification (CPA) or optical parametric chirped pulse amplification (OPCPA) systems. 相似文献

We report on the performance of a commercial, non-AR-coated diode laser bar of 20 W output power, consisting of 20 emitters,
which uses an external cavity to achieve tunable, dual-wavelength emission. The separation between the wavelength peaks can
be continuously tuned from 0 nm to 5 nm. An output power of 2.9 W is achieved at 3.7 nm peak-to-peak separation and higher
powers are achieved for less separation. This is the highest dual wavelength output power reported so far using a standard
diode laser array.

采用传输矩阵分析法、数值模拟和实验研究相结合的方法研究了由光耦合器(OC)、偏振控制器(PC)和保偏光纤(PMF)组成的高双折射Sagnac干涉环的透射特性。理论分析了PMF特性和PC状态对输出特性的影响,并通过数值模拟得到了PMF长度、双折射率(Δn)和PC状态不同时所对应的透射光谱。最后通过实验验证得出了波长间隔只由PMF的长度和双折射率Δn决定,透射率大小只由PC状态决定,而透射谱的峰值位置由PMF和PC状态共同决定的规律。实验结果与理论分析结果非常一致,对Sagnac环透射规律的研究对这种可调谐滤波器在多波长光纤激光器中的应用具有一定的参考价值。 相似文献

A Sagnac interferometer switch with a semiconductor optical amplifier is proposed for all-optical wavelength and pulse-width conversions. The configuration of this switch is simple, and the switching speed is not limited by the semiconductor carrier's recovery time. The pulse width of the input data, 1.5 ps, is converted to 2.4-18.1 ps. A wavelength conversion of input data at 1539 nm to a tunable-wavelength bandwidth of 15 nm (1550-1565 nm) is also demonstrated. 相似文献

A high-birefringent (Hi-Bi) Sagnac loop interferometer for torsion measurement is demonstrated. The sensing head is formed by a section of standard single mode fiber spliced between the output ports of a Hi-Bi coupler at 3 dB. The sensing configuration is characterized in torsion, temperature and strain. The results obtained indicate the viability of a torsion sensor independent of the temperature and strain cross-sensitivity effects. Additionally, in the proposed configuration all measurements are performed without the need of a polarization controller, a device most often required in standard Sagnac loops applied for sensing. 相似文献

We demonstrate what is to our knowledge the first all-fiber squeezing experiment. A balanced Sagnac loop is used, and a record 6.1+/-0.2dB of noise reduction below shot noise has been obtained without stabilization. A gigahertz Er-doped fiber laser and a high-power double-clad Er-Yb amplifier have been developed to suppress guided acoustic-wave Brillouin scattering and to make possible the all-fiber configuration. 相似文献

We report on the experimental demonstration of a spectrum shaping filter, which is formed by inserting a fiber polarization controller (PC) in to a Sagnac loop. Period-generating different modulation formats are presented using an electro-absorption modulator (EAM). The configuration is based on a Sagnac loop interferometer containing an EAM, a polarization controller and a time delay line. Different modulation formats are obtained by modulating the clockwise and counterclockwise propagating waves inside the Sagnac loop. The theoretical analysis is also obtained. An optical fiber curvature sensor with low-birefringence photonic crystal fiber (PCF) based Sagnac loop is demonstrated experimentally. The low-birefringence PCF of about 40 cm long is inserted into Sagnac loop, and a section of it about 155 mm is used as the sensing element. The Sagnac output spectra under different curvatures are measured and analyzed. The results show that the wavelength shift of the transmission dip has a linear relationship with the curvature. The sensitivity of the curvature measurement of − 0.337 nm is achieved in the range of 0-9.92 m− 1. And the temperature effect of the proposed sensor is also analyzed. 相似文献

An analysis of the errors in the dual wavelength quadrature phase demodulation technique for low-finesse Fabry-Pérot cavity based fibre optic sensor is presented. A simple numeric model for calculating the error is established. For sensors that experience only small cavity length changes during measurement, a simplified analytical expression of relative error is also derived. Errors for various sets of interrogation wavelengths are calculated and analyzed. The results show that two wavelengths with very slight difference should be chosen to avoid significant errors. 相似文献

We propose a double-pumped ring cavity multiwavelength fiber optical parametric oscillator (MW-FOPO) using a highly nonlinear dispersion-shifted fiber (HNL-DSF) as the gain medium and a polarization maintained fiber based Sagnac loop filter as the comblike filter. 22-wavelength lasing of the double-pumped MW-FOPO with a ripple less than ±2.5 dB and a wavelength spacing of about 0.8 nm in a wavelength range from 1541 nm to 1558 nm is experimentally demonstrated. We discussed the power stability of the multiwavelength lasing of the double-pumped MW-FOPO. A comparison of the output spectra between the double-pumped MW-FOPO and single-pumped MW-FOPO is also presented. 相似文献

In this paper, we present the operation of an all-optical signal regenerator (AOSR). The AOSR is based on a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA), which is incorporated in an asymmetric Sagnac loop (ASL). We show experimentally that the AOSR is capable of improving the input signal extinction ratio (ER) considerably. We present a theoretical model, which explains this improvement, and we illustrate a qualitatively similar behavior with a simulation. 相似文献

In this paper, a novel configuration of a wavelength converter is set forth by utilizing a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) as a nonlinear gain medium to generate a four-wave mixing (FWM) effect by using a dual wavelength bi-erbium-doped fiber laser that uses an Arrayed Waveguide Grating (AWG) together with two optical channel selector (OSC) as selective elements to function as a dual wavelength switchable pump power. The four-wave mixing (FWM) is produced with a wavelength detuning of 7 nm from the pump and signal which used is as the converted signal at wavelength 1532.8 nm or 1534.5 nm for transferring data from the input signal at wavelength 1547.0 nm. Thus, even though the conversion efficiency is as low as −43 dB, it is still possible for applications as a wavelength converter. 相似文献

Highly efficient frequency conversions were conducted to obtain deep-ultraviolet single-mode coherent light by use of two-stage external cavities. A power of 154 mW at approximately 252 nm was obtained with a conversion efficiency of more than 8% by doubly resonant sum-frequency mixing of 373-nm light from the first-stage conversion and 780-nm light from a single-mode Ti:sapphire laser. A novel means of producing coherent radiation by passing an electron through a dual-grating resonator is presented, The observed radiation is in accordance with the Smith-Purcell dispersion relation for a single grating. Feedback is provided by a second grating. Experiments carried out at beam energies from 30-55 keV produced radiation at wavelengths from 6 to 0.75 mm.
