Generation of <Emphasis Type="Italic">tert</Emphasis>-Butyl-<Emphasis Type="Italic">λ</Emphasis><Superscript>5</Superscript>-phosphanedione and Its Chemical Properties

Flash vacuum thermolysis of trimethylsilyl tert-butylphosphonohalidates involved elimination of halo(trimethyl)silane with the formation of tert-butyl-λ⁵-phosphanedione whose structure was confirmed by chemical reactions. tert-Butyl-λ⁵-phosphanedione readily undergoes trimerization, reacts with 2-phenyloxirane to give cycloaddition product, and takes up alcohols.     

New photochromic 1,1,3-trimethylspiro[benzo[<Emphasis Type="Italic">e</Emphasis>]indoline-2,3′-[3<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>]-pyrano[3,2-<Emphasis Type="Italic">f</Emphasis>]quinoline]

A new photochromic spiropyran of the benzoindoline series containing the quinoline moiety was synthesized. Its structure was determined by IR and ¹H NMR spectroscopy. The crystal structure of the new compound was established by X-ray diffraction. The photochromic properties of the synthesized spiropyran were investigated.     

Synthesis of imidazo[4,5-<Emphasis Type="Italic">e</Emphasis>]benzo[1,2-<Emphasis Type="Italic">c</Emphasis>;3,4-<Emphasis Type="Italic">c</Emphasis>´]difuroxanes

A method for the synthesis of imidazo[4,5-e]benzo[1,2-c;3,4-c´]difuroxanes, potential nitric oxide donors, has been developed. The synthesized compounds were characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy, high resolution mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis.     

Determination of the <Emphasis Type="Italic">R</Emphasis> ⇄ <Emphasis Type="Italic">S</Emphasis> enantiomerization barrier in 5,6-dihydrobenzoimidazo[1,2-<Emphasis Type="Italic">c</Emphasis>]quinazolines

Chiral imidazoquinazolines undergoing thermally induced reversible R ⇄ S enantiomerization have been synthesized by the interaction of 2-(o-aminophenyl)benzimidazoles with aldehydes and ketones. The benzimidazole fragment has been used for the first time as an indicator group in temperature-dependent ¹H NMR spectra for determining the energy barrier of this rearrangement. The effects of nearby substituents on the kinetic and activation parameters, and on the recyclization mechanism have been investigated.     

Directed Aminomethylation of Pyrrole,Indole, and Carbazole with <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>,<Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>,<Emphasis Type="Italic">N′</Emphasis>,<Emphasis Type="Italic">N′</Emphasis>-Tetramethylmethanediamine

Catalytic aminomethylation of pyrrole and indole with N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylmethanediamine in the presence of 5 mol % of ZrOCl₂·8H₂O proceeds selectively at the positions 2, 5 of pyrrole and 1, 3 of indole. Carbazole under the same conditions affords 3-formyl-9-aminomethyl derivative. The reaction in the presence of 5 mol % of K₂CO₃ occurs as monoaminomethylation: for pyrrole at the position 2, for indole at the position 3, and for carbazole at the nitrogen atom of the substrate. Water-soluble 1,1′-(1H-pyrrole-2,5-diyl)bis(N,N-dimethylmethanamine) exhibits a fungistatic activity with respect to phytopathogenic fungi Rhizoctonia solani.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>′-tetrazolylmethoxyl derivatives of <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-methyldiazene <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-oxides

A preparation method was developed for previously unknown tetrazole derivatives containing in the 1, 2, and/or 5 positions of the tetrazole ring N-methyldiazene-N-oxide-N′-oxymethyl groups.     

Synthesis of 2,3,4-triphenyl-6,8-dihydropyrrolo-[3,2-<Emphasis Type="Italic">d</Emphasis>][1,2]diazepin-7(1<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>)-one—A novel heterocyclic system

The first representative of a new heterocyclic system, 2,3,4-triphenyl-6,8-dihydropyrrolo[3,2-d]-[1,2]diazepin-7(1H)-one, has been synthesized following an approach based on the reaction of ethyl (3-benzoyl-4,5-diphenyl-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)acetate with hydrazine hydrate.     

Synthesis and reactivity of 2-(2-furyl)-1,7-dimethyl-1<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>,7<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>-benzo[1,2-<Emphasis Type="Italic">d</Emphasis>: 3,4-<Emphasis Type="Italic">d</Emphasis>′]diimidazole

2-(2-Furyl)-1,7-dimethyl-1H,7H-benzo[1,2-d: 3,4-d′]diimidazole was synthesized by the Weidenhagen reaction followed by N-methylation. Electrophilic substitution reactions of the title compound (nitration, bromination, sulfonation, formylation, and acylation) involved both the furan ring and central benzene fragment.     

New “s<Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">2</Emphasis></Superscript>-bonded” carbanucleosides

By reaction of 2,3-dichloro-, 2,3,5-trichloro-, 2,5-dichloro-3-phenylsulfonyl-, 2-chloro-3-phenylsulfonyl-4,4-ethylenedioxycyclopent-2-en-1-ones with uracyl 3- and 2-uracyl derivatives were obtained of the corresponding chlorocyclopentenone.     

Synthesis and structure of a new heterocyclic system – 7,8-dihydroimidazo- [1,2-<Emphasis Type="Italic">c</Emphasis>][1,3]thiazolo[4,5-<Emphasis Type="Italic">e</Emphasis>]pyrimidine

The purpose-directed synthesis of a new heterocyclic system, 7,8-dihydroimidazo[1,2-c][1,3]thia- zolo[4,5-e]pyrimidine has been carried out based on the successive interaction of available 2-(aroyl- aminocyanomethylene)imidazolidines with hydrogen sulfide and triethyl orthoformate with subsequent intramolecular cyclocondensation of the obtained 8-aroylamino-7-thioxo-1,2,3,7-tetrahydroimidazo- [1,2-c]pyrimidines under the action of phosphorus pentasulfide or polyphosphoric acid.     

Synthesis of <Emphasis Type="Italic">α</Emphasis>-chloropyridine-containing oximes of 3<Emphasis Type="Italic">β</Emphasis>,5-dihydroxy-6-ketosteroids

New derivatives of steroidal 6-ketoximes containing α-chloropyridine neonicotinoid groups characteristic of bioactive compounds were synthesized by formation of oximes of cholestane and stigmastane 3β,5-dihydroxy-6-ketosteroids with O-(2-chloropyridin-5-ylmethyl)hydroxylamine in the presence of zinc or tin(IV) chloride.     

Synthesis of 20<Emphasis Type="Italic">S</Emphasis>-protopanaxadiol <Emphasis Type="Italic">β</Emphasis>-D-galactopyranosides

20S-Protopanaxadiol (3β,12β,20S-trihydroxydammar-24-ene) 3-, 12-, and 20-O-β-D-galactopyranosides were synthesized for the first time. Condensation of 12β-acetoxy-3β,20S-dihydroxydammar-24-ene (1) and 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-α-D-galactopyranosylbromide (α-acetobromogalactose) (2) under Koenigs–Knorr conditions with subsequent removal of the protecting groups resulted in regio- and stereoselective formation of 20S-protopanaxadiol 3-O-β-D-galactopyranoside, an analog of the natural ginsenoside Rh₂. Glycosylation of 12β,20S-dihydroxydammar-24-en-3-one (5) by 2 with subsequent treatment of the reaction products with NaBH₄ in isopropanol and deacetylation with NaOMe gave 20S-protopanaxadiol 12- and 20-O-β-Dgalactopyranosides.     

Synthesis of <Emphasis Type="Italic">α</Emphasis>-chloropyridine derivatives of <Emphasis Type="Italic">γ</Emphasis>-aminobutyric acid

The sodium salt of N-(6-chloronicotinoyl)-γ-aminobutyric acid, a structural analog of the known nootropic and vasidilating drug picamilon, was synthesized via Schotten–Baumann acylation of γ-aminobutyric acid with 6-chloronicotinoyl chloride and subsequent neutralization of the N-(6-chloronicotinoyl)-γ-aminobutyric acid that was obtained in >60% yield.     

First example of the synthesis of <Emphasis Type="Italic">S</Emphasis>,<Emphasis Type="Italic">O</Emphasis>-macroheterocycle based on 2(5<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>)-furanone and 2,2´-oxydiethanethiol

A base-catalyzed reaction of 3,4-dichloro-5-methoxy- and 3,4-dichloro-5-ethoxy-2(5H)-furanones with 2,2´-oxydiethanethiol gave thiols and bis-thioethers of 2(5H)-furanone series. A new S,O-macroheterocyclic compound containing a 18-membered oxathiamacrocycle and two 2(5H)-furanone fragments was synthesized based on the thiols in an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide, which was characterized by X-ray diffraction.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">β</Emphasis>-Chloro-<Emphasis Type="Italic">α</Emphasis>,<Emphasis Type="Italic">β</Emphasis>-unsaturated carbonyls as convenient precursors of highly substituted benzenes

The Diels–Alder reactions of three β-chloro-α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds 1–3 with different dienes were carried out to afford highly functionalized cyclohexenes 4–9, bearing quaternary centers, in good yields. These cycloadducts (CAs) undergo dehydrochlorination with subsequent aromatization in the presence of 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene DBU to produce new substituted benzenes 11–14. Compound 10 is the product of lactonization and removal of an HCl molecule from compound 7. All products were characterized by NMR, IR, elementary analysis and some of them by MS. Structure assignments of isomers were carried out on the basis of NMR chemical shifts and coupling constants using 1D, 2D and heteronOe NMR techniques.     

An efficient synthesis of <Emphasis Type="Italic">β</Emphasis>-methoxycarbonyl-<Emphasis Type="Italic">γ</Emphasis>-butyrolactones

β-Methoxycarbonyl-γ-butyrolactones bearing a γ-aromatic substituent were prepared via copper-catalyzed reductive aldol addition/lactonization domino reactions of ketones with α,β-unsaturated dicarboxylate esters and a silane under ambient temperature. The reaction has advantage of using readily available reagents, mild conditions and high efficiency.     

Computer models of eutectic-type <Emphasis Type="Italic">T</Emphasis>–<Emphasis Type="Italic">x</Emphasis>–<Emphasis Type="Italic">y</Emphasis> diagrams with allotropy

Using the eutectic-type T–x–y diagram as an example, it can be represented the analysis of its geometrical construction dependence on the temperature of a component two polymorphous modifications which participate in mono- and invariant metatectic and invariant eutectic (eutectoid) transformations above or below (and within) binary eutectics temperature intervals and below a ternary eutectic temperature. Computer models for considered phase diagrams have been designed. Such models help to solve applied tasks like visualization, isopleths and isothermal sections decoding, mass balances calculation and evaluation of phase and conglomerate concentration in microstructure.     

Baeyer–Villiger oxidation of <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis> <Superscript>1</Superscript>,<Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis> <Superscript>3</Superscript>,2-triaryl-6-hydroxy-6-methyl-4-oxocyclohexane-1,3-dicarboxamides

Baeyer–Villiger oxidation of N¹,N³,2-triaryl-6-hydroxy-6-methyl-4-oxocyclohexane-1,3-dicarboxamides with 30% hydrogen peroxide in acetic acid afforded 2-(4-aryl-3-carbamoyl-2-methyl-5-oxooxolan-2-yl)acetic acids.
