Ant colony optimization for continuous domains   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
In this paper we present an extension of ant colony optimization (ACO) to continuous domains. We show how ACO, which was initially developed to be a metaheuristic for combinatorial optimization, can be adapted to continuous optimization without any major conceptual change to its structure. We present the general idea, implementation, and results obtained. We compare the results with those reported in the literature for other continuous optimization methods: other ant-related approaches and other metaheuristics initially developed for combinatorial optimization and later adapted to handle the continuous case. We discuss how our extended ACO compares to those algorithms, and we present some analysis of its efficiency and robustness.  相似文献

The multi-objective resource allocation problem (MORAP) addresses the important issue which seeks to find the expected objectives by allocating the limited amount of resource to various activates. Resources may be manpower, assets, raw material or anything else in limited supply which can be used to accomplish the goals. The goals may be objectives (i.e., minimizing costs, or maximizing efficiency) usually driven by specific future needs. In this paper, in order to obtain a set of Pareto solution efficiently, we proposed a modified version of ant colony optimization (ACO), in this algorithm we try to increase the efficiency of algorithm by increasing the learning of ants. Effectiveness and efficiency of proposed algorithm was validated by comparing the result of ACO with hybrid genetic algorithm (hGA) which was applied to MORAP later.  相似文献

Successful supply chain management requires a cooperative integration between all the partners in the network. At the operational level, the partners individual behavior should be optimal and therefore their activities have to be planned using sophisticated optimization tools. However, these tools should take into account the planning of the remaining partners, through the exchange of information, in order to allow some kind of cooperation between the elements of the chain. This paper introduces a new supply chain management technique, based on modeling a generic supply chain with suppliers, logistics and distributers, as a distributed optimization problem. The different operational activities are solved by the optimization meta-heuristic called ant colony optimization, which allows the exchange of information between different optimization problems by means of a pheromone matrix. The simulation results show that the new methodology is more efficient than a simple decentralized methodology for different instances of a supply chain.  相似文献

This study proposes an improved solution algorithm using ant colony optimization (ACO) for finding global optimum for any given test functions. The procedure of the ACO algorithms simulates the decision-making processes of ant colonies as they forage for food and is similar to other artificial intelligent techniques such as Tabu search, Simulated Annealing and Genetic Algorithms. ACO algorithms can be used as a tool for optimizing continuous and discrete mathematical functions. The proposed algorithm is based on each ant searches only around the best solution of the previous iteration with β. The proposed algorithm is called as ACORSES, an abbreviation of ACO Reduced SEarch Space. β is proposed for improving ACO’s solution performance to reach global optimum fairly quickly. The ACORSES is tested on fourteen mathematical test functions taken from literature and encouraging results were obtained. The performance of ACORSES is compared with other optimization methods. The results showed that the ACORSES performs better than other optimization algorithms, available in literature in terms of minimum values of objective functions and number of iterations.  相似文献

This paper presents ACO_GLS, a hybrid ant colony optimization approach coupled with a guided local search, applied to a layout problem. ACO_GLS is applied to an industrial case, in a train maintenance facility of the French railway system (SNCF). Results show that an improvement of near 20% is achieved with respect to the actual layout. Since the problem is modeled as a quadratic assignment problem (QAP), we compared our approach with some of the best heuristics available for this problem. Experimental results show that ACO_GLS performs better for small instances, while its performance is still satisfactory for large instances.  相似文献

Let a graph G = (V, E) with vertex set V and edge set E be given. The classical graph version of the p-median problem asks for a subset of cardinality p, so that the (weighted) sum of the minimum distances from X to all other vertices in V is minimized. We consider the semi-obnoxious case, where every vertex has either a positive or a negative weight. This gives rise to two different objective functions, namely the weighted sum of the minimum distances from X to the vertices in V\X and, differently, the sum over the minimum weighted distances from X to V\X. In this paper an Ant Colony algorithm with a tabu restriction is designed for both problems. Computational results show its superiority with respect to a previously investigated variable neighborhood search and a tabu search heuristic. This research has partially been supported by the Spezialforschungsbereich F 003 “Optimierung und Kontrolle”, Projektbereich Diskrete Optimierung.  相似文献

The vehicle routing problem (VRP), a well-known combinatorial optimization problem, holds a central place in logistics management. This paper proposes an improved ant colony optimization (IACO), which possesses a new strategy to update the increased pheromone, called ant-weight strategy, and a mutation operation, to solve VRP. The computational results for fourteen benchmark problems are reported and compared to those of other metaheuristic approaches.  相似文献

This paper studies the learning process in an ant colony optimization algorithm designed to solve the problem of ordering cars on an assembly line (car-sequencing problem). This problem has been shown to be NP-hard and evokes a great deal of interest among practitioners. Learning in an ant algorithm is achieved by using an artificial pheromone trail, which is a central element of this metaheuristic. Many versions of the algorithm are found in literature, the main distinction among them being the management of the pheromone trail. Nevertheless, few of them seek to perfect learning by modifying the internal structure of the trail. In this paper, a new pheromone trail structure is proposed that is specifically adapted to the type of constraints in the car-sequencing problem. The quality of the results obtained when solving three sets of benchmark problems is superior to that of the best solutions found in literature and shows the efficiency of the specialized trail.  相似文献

Ant colony system is a well known metaheuristic framework, and many efficient algorithms for different combinatorial optimization problems have been derived from this general framework. In this paper some directions for improving the original framework when a strong local search routine is available, are identified. In particular, some modifications able to speed up the method and make it competitive on large problem instances, on which the original framework tends to be weaker, are described. The resulting framework, called Enhanced Ant Colony System is tested on three well-known combinatorial optimization problems arising in the transportation field. Many new best known solutions are retrieved for the benchmarks available for these optimization problems.  相似文献

Many studies on ants behavior have demonstrated that their food searching process starts with Scout Ants’ scouting all around for food. In this paper, we propose a novel Scout Ant Continuous Optimization (SACO) algorithm which can simulate the food searching process of the Scout Ants. In this algorithm, the solution space of an optimization problem is divided into m subspaces. One Scout Ant is assigned to each subspace, and a total number of m Scout Ants in m subspaces will cooperate in the whole food searching process. The location of a Scout Ant in a subspace corresponds to a solution in that subspace. When an ant moves, the change of its position is driven by two factors. The first factor is the independent, random ergodic search with a small moving step in the ant’s assigned subspace, and the second is the collaborative, global search inspired by the global heuristic information accumulated among m ants. Each of these two factors is weighed by an appropriate weight to balance its contribution to the moving step size. This balanced computation helps adapt optimization problems with different features. Our numerical experiments have demonstrated that, in addition to the high accuracy and success rate in seeking the optimized solutions, our algorithm also has very fast convergence speed and impressive performance in optimization applications in high-dimensional spaces.  相似文献

Hub and spoke type networks are often designed to solve problems that require the transfer of large quantities of commodities. This can be an extremely difficult problem to solve for constructive approaches such as ant colony optimisation due to the multiple optimisation components and the fact that the quadratic nature of the objective function makes it difficult to determine the effect of adding a particular solution component. Additionally, the amount of traffic that can be routed through each hub is constrained and the number of hubs is not known a-priori. Four variations of the ant colony optimisation meta-heuristic that explore different construction modelling choices are developed. The effects of solution component assignment order and the form of local search heuristics are also investigated. The results reveal that each of the approaches can return optimal solution costs in a reasonable amount of computational time. This may be largely attributed to the combination of integer linear preprocessing, powerful multiple neighbourhood local search heuristic and the good starting solutions provided by the ant colonies.  相似文献

The difficulty to solve multiple objective combinatorial optimization problems with traditional techniques has urged researchers to look for alternative, better performing approaches for them. Recently, several algorithms have been proposed which are based on the ant colony optimization metaheuristic. In this contribution, the existing algorithms of this kind are reviewed and a proposal of a taxonomy for them is presented. In addition, an empirical analysis is developed by analyzing their performance on several instances of the bi-criteria traveling salesman problem in comparison with two well-known multi-objective genetic algorithms.  相似文献

The difficulty of resolving the multiobjective combinatorial optimization problems with traditional methods has directed researchers to investigate new approaches which perform better. In recent years some algorithms based on ant colony optimization (ACO) metaheuristic have been suggested to solve these multiobjective problems. In this study these algorithms have been reported and programmed both to solve the biobjective quadratic assignment problem (BiQAP) instances and to evaluate the performances of these algorithms. The robust parameter sets for each 12 multiobjective ant colony optimization (MOACO) algorithms have been calculated and BiQAP instances in the literature have been solved within these parameter sets. The performances of the algorithms have been evaluated by comparing the Pareto fronts obtained from these algorithms. In the evaluation step, a multi significance test is used in a non hierarchical structure, and a performance metric (P metric) essential for this test is introduced. Through this study, decision makers will be able to put in the biobjective algorithms in an order according to the priority values calculated from the algorithms’ Pareto fronts. Moreover, this is the first time that MOACO algorithms have been compared by solving BiQAPs.  相似文献

Simulation is generally used to study non-deterministic problems in industry. When a simulation process finds the solution to an NP-hard problem, its efficiency is lowered, and computational costs increase. This paper proposes a stochastic dynamic lot-sizing problem with asymmetric deteriorating commodity, in which the optimal unit cost of material and unit holding cost would be determined. This problem covers a sub-problem of replenishment planning, which is NP-hard in the computational complexity theory. Therefore, this paper applies a decision system, based on an artificial neural network (ANN) and modified ant colony optimization (ACO) to solve this stochastic dynamic lot-sizing problem. In the methodology, ANN is used to learn the simulation results, followed by the application of a real-valued modified ACO algorithm to find the optimal decision variables. The test results show that the intelligent system is applicable to the proposed problem, and its performance is better than response surface methodology.  相似文献

This paper presents a novel discrete artificial bee colony (DABC) algorithm for solving the multi-objective flexible job shop scheduling problem with maintenance activities. Performance criteria considered are the maximum completion time so called makespan, the total workload of machines and the workload of the critical machine. Unlike the original ABC algorithm, the proposed DABC algorithm presents a unique solution representation where a food source is represented by two discrete vectors and tabu search (TS) is applied to each food source to generate neighboring food sources for the employed bees, onlooker bees, and scout bees. An efficient initialization scheme is introduced to construct the initial population with a certain level of quality and diversity. A self-adaptive strategy is adopted to enable the DABC algorithm with learning ability for producing neighboring solutions in different promising regions whereas an external Pareto archive set is designed to record the non-dominated solutions found so far. Furthermore, a novel decoding method is also presented to tackle maintenance activities in schedules generated. The proposed DABC algorithm is tested on a set of the well-known benchmark instances from the existing literature. Through a detailed analysis of experimental results, the highly effective and efficient performance of the proposed DABC algorithm is shown against the best performing algorithms from the literature.  相似文献
