In this paper, the second order statistics of post buckling response of functionally graded materials plate (FGM) subjected to mechanical and thermal loading with nonuniform temperature changes subjected to temperature independent (TID) and dependent (TD) material properties is examined. Material properties such as material properties of each constituent’s materials, volume fraction index are taken as independent random input variables. The basic formulation is based on higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT) with von-Karman nonlinear kinematic using modified C0 continuity. A direct iterative based C0 nonlinear finite element method (FEM) combined with mean centered first order perturbation technique (FOPT) proposed by last two authors for the composite plate is extended for Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs) plate with reasonable accuracy to compute the second order statistics (mean and coefficient of variation) of the post buckling load response of the FGM plates. The effect of random material properties with amplitude ratios, volume fraction index, plate thickness ratios, aspect ratios, boundary conditions and types of loadings subjected to TID and TD material properties are presented through numerical examples. The performance of outlined present approach is validated with the results available in literatures and independent Monte Carlo simulation (MCS).  相似文献

An investigation is made on interlaminar delamination growth of composite laminated circular plates under in-plane loads and movable delamination boundary conditions. A four-dissociated-region model is developed on the basis of von-Karman plate theory. The model is geometrically nonlinear and the laminated circular plate considered is subjected to axisymmetrical delamination. The effects of transverse shear deformation and contact effect of the delamination on the laminated plates are taking into account in the development of the governing equations of the laminated circular pates with random axisymmetrical delamination. The formulas for describing the total energy release rate and its individual mode components along the delamination front are also derived with considerations of Griffith criterion for fracture. Based on the model established, the delamination growth is numerically studied; and the influences of the parameters such as delamination radii and depths, together with material properties of the plates on the energy release rate are analyzed in detail.  相似文献

This paper studied compressive postbuckling under thermal environments and thermal postbuckling due to a uniform temperature rise for a shear deformable laminated plate with piezoelectric fiber reinforced composite (PFRC) actuators based on a higher order shear deformation plate theory that includes thermo-piezoelectric effects. The material properties are assumed to be temperature-dependent and the initial geometric imperfection of the plate is considered. The compressive and thermal postbuckling behaviors of perfect, imperfect, symmetric cross-ply and antisymmetric angle-ply laminated plates with fully covered or embedded PFRC actuators are conducted under different sets of thermal and electric loading conditions. The results reveal that, the applied voltage usually has a small effect on the postbuckling load–deflection relationship of the plate with PFRC actuators in the compressive buckling case, whereas the effect of applied voltage is more pronounced for the plate with PFRC actuators, compared to the results of the same plate with monolithic piezoelectric actuators.  相似文献

This paper deals with second order statistics of post buckling load of shear deformable laminated composite plates resting on linear elastic foundation with random system properties. The formulation is based on higher order shear deformation plate theory in general von Karman sense, which includes foundation effect using two-parameter Pasternak model. The random system equations are derived using the principal of virtual work. A finite element method is used for spatial descretization of the laminate with a reasonable accuracy. A perturbation technique has been the first time successfully combined with direct iterative technique by neglecting the changes in nonlinear stiffness matrix due to random variation of transverse displacements during iteration. The numerical results for the second order statistics of post buckling loads are obtained. A detailed study is carried out to highlight the characteristics of the random response and its sensitivity to different foundation parameters, the plate thickness ratio, the plate aspect ratio, the support condition, the stacking sequence and the lamination angle on the post buckling response of the laminate. The results have been compared with existing results and an independent Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

The paper presents Chebyshev series based analytical solutions for the postbuckling response of the moderately thick laminated composite rectangular plates with and without elastic foundations. The plate is assumed to be subjected to in-plane mechanical, thermal and thermomechanical loadings. In-plane mechanical loading consists of uniaxial, biaxial, shear loadings and their combinations. The temperature induced loading is due to either uniform temperature or a linearly varying temperature across the thickness. The mathematical formulation is based on higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT) and von-Karman nonlinear kinematics. The elastic foundation is modeled as shear deformable with cubic nonlinearity. The thermal and mechanical properties of the composites are assumed to be temperature dependent. The quadratic extrapolation technique is used for linearization and fast converging finite double Chebyshev series is used for spatial discretization of the governing nonlinear equations of equilibrium. The effects of plate parameters and foundation parameters on buckling and postbuckling response of the plate are presented.  相似文献

The compromise optimization of the structure and geometry of a laminated anisotropic composite plate subjected to biaxial thermal shear loading is considered. From the known properties of the monolayer and given values of a variable structural parameter, the thermoelastic properties of the layered composite are determined. The optimization criteria — the critical shear load and the longitudinal and transverse thermal stresses — depend on two variable design parameters of composite properties and temperature. In the space of optimization criteria, the domain of allowable solutions and the Pareto-optimal subregion are found. __________ Translated from Mekhanika Kompozitnykh Materialov, Vol. 44, No. 4, pp. 471–478, July–August, 2008.  相似文献

The second order statistics in terms of mean and standard deviation (SD) of normalized nonlinear transverse dynamic central deflection (NTDCD) response of un-damped elastically supported functionally graded materials (FGMs) beam with surface-bonded piezoelectric layers under the action of moving load are investigated in this paper. The random system properties such as Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, density, thermal expansion coefficients, piezoelectric materials, volume fraction exponent and external loading are modeled as uncorrelated random variables. The basic formulation is based on higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT) with von-Karman nonlinear strain kinematics combined with Newton–Raphson technique through Newmark's time integrating scheme using finite element method (FEM). The non-uniform temperature distribution with temperature dependent material properties is taken into consideration for consideration of thermal loading. The one parameter Pasternak elastic foundation with Winkler cubic nonlinearity is considered as an elastic foundation. The stochastic based second order perturbation technique (SOPT) and direct Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) are adopted for the solution of nonlinear dynamic governing equation. The influences of volume fraction exponents, temperature increments, moving loads and velocity, nonlinearity, slenderness ratios, foundation parameters and external loadings with random system properties on the NTDCD are examined. The capability of present stochastic model in predicting the NTDCD statistics are compared by studying their convergence with the existing results those available in the literature.  相似文献

Studies are made on nonlinear free vibrations of simply supported piezo-laminated rectangular plates with immovable edges utilizing Kirchoff’s hypothesis and von Kármán strain–displacement relations. The effect of random material properties of the base structure and actuation electric potential difference on the nonlinear free vibration of the plate is examined. The study is confined to linear-induced strain in the piezoelectric layer applicable to low electric fields. The von Kármán’s large deflection equations for generally laminated elastic plates are derived in terms of stress function and transverse deflection function. A deflection function satisfying the simply supported boundary conditions is assumed and a stress function is then obtained after solving the compatibility equation. Applying the modified Galerkin’s method to the governing nonlinear partial differential equations, a modal equation of Duffing’s type is obtained. It is solved by exact integration. Monte Carlo simulation has been carried out to examine the response statistics considering the material properties and actuation electric potential difference of the piezoelectric layer as random variables. The extremal values of response are also evaluated utilizing the Convex model as well as the Multivariate method. Results obtained through the different statistical approaches are found to be in good agreement with each other.  相似文献

This research is focused on the effects of nonlinear terms on the dynamical behavior of graphene reinforced laminated composite plates. Firstly, the governing equations of the graphene reinforced composite thin plate subjected to transverse excitations are derived by using the Hamilton's principle and the von Karman deformation theory. Then numerical method is applied to investigate the nonlinear behaviors of graphene reinforced composite plates. Bifurcation diagram, waveform and phase portrait are demonstrated to analyze the nonlinear dynamics of the graphene reinforced laminated composite plates. Furthermore, the effects of nonlinear terms on the dynamical behavior are discussed in detail, where both the stronger and weaker nonlinear characteristics of lower modes of the plate are presented. Moreover, some interesting phenomena are obtained in numerical simulation.  相似文献

Based on a 7-parameter shell model, a numerical algorithm has been developed for solving a coupled problem of thermoelectroelasticity for a laminated piezoelectric shell subjected to a thermoelectromechanical loading. As unknowns, six tangential and transverse displacements of outer surfaces and the transverse displacement of shell midsurface are chosen. This choice provides a possibility of utilizing the complete 3D constitutive equations of thermopiezoelectricity. A geometrically exact 3D hybrid piezoelectric shell element is formulated by using nonconventional analytical integration. With the help of this finite element, solutions of coupled problems of thermoelectroelasticity for laminated plates and shells with segmented and distributed piezoelectric sensors and actuators are obtained.  相似文献

This paper presents a non-polynomial coupled plate theory for smart composite structures employing inverse hyperbolic displacement and electric potential functions. The theory is utilized towards analysis of composite piezoelectric plates operating in sensor and actuator modes. Particularly, the following three cases are studied: (i) passive laminated composite structure, (ii) composite piezoelectric plate actuator and (iii) unimorph and bimorph piezoelectric plate sensors. Analytical solutions are obtained for simply supported plates under static electrical and mechanical loads. These results are validated with existing 3D elasticity solutions and compared with other plate theory solutions. Furthermore, parametric studies are performed to determine the effect of loading, span-to-thickness ratio and lamination sequence on the response of the piezoelectric plate. Finally, the theory is applied to a transverse shear sensing device which utilizes transverse shear-electric field coupling in piezoelectric materials. This effect is often ignored in literature. It is observed that the maximum percentage error of the present theory, when compared with 3D results, is less than 3%, which is lower than other higher order plate theories.  相似文献

This paper deals with the thermal buckling analysis of point-supported thin laminated composite plates. The analysis is performed for rhombic and rectangular plates and two cases of bilateral and unilateral buckling. In the unilateral buckling, it is assumed that the plate is in contact with a rigid surface and lateral deflection is forced to be only in one direction. The element-free Galerkin (EFG) method is employed to discretize equilibrium equations. Point supports are modeled in the form of distinct restrained circular surfaces through developing a numerical procedure based on the Lagrange multiplier technique. The unilateral behavior of the plate is incorporated in the analysis by using the penalty method and the Heaviside contact function. The final system of nonlinear algebraic equations is solved iteratively. Two types of point support arrangements are considered and the effect of different parameters such as number of point supports, plate aspect ratio and lamination scheme on the buckling coefficient of composite plates is investigated.  相似文献

In this work, a transverse bending of shear deformable laminated composite plates in Green–Lagrange sense accounting for the transverse shear and large rotations are presented. Governing equations are developed in the framework of higher order shear deformation theory. All higher order terms arising from nonlinear strain–displacement relations are included in the formulation. The present plate theory satisfies zero transverse shear strains conditions at the top and bottom surfaces of the plate in von-Karman sense. A C0 isoparametric finite element is developed for the present nonlinear model. Numerical results for the laminated composite plates of orthotropic materials with different system parameters and boundary conditions are found out. The results are also compared with those available in the literature. Some new results with different parameters are also presented.  相似文献

An analytical solution methodology for the non-linear dynamic displacement response of laminated composite plates subjected to different types of pulse loading is presented. The mathematical formulation is based on third-order shear deformation plate theory and von-Karman non-linear kinematics. Fast-converging finite double Chebyshev series is employed for evaluating the displacement response. Houbolt time marching scheme is used for temporal discretization and quadratic extrapolation technique is used for linearization. The effects of magnitude and duration of the pulse load, boundary conditions and plate parameters on the central displacement and bending moment responses are studied.  相似文献

The paper deals with Chebyshev series based analytical solution for the nonlinear flexural response of the elastically supported moderately thick laminated composite rectangular plates subjected to hygro-thermo-mechanical loading. The mathematical formulation is based on higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT) and von-Karman nonlinear kinematics. The elastic foundation is modeled as shear deformable with cubic nonlinearity. The elastic and hygrothermal properties of the fiber reinforced composite material are considered to be dependent on temperature and moisture concentration and have been evaluated utilizing micromechanics model. The quadratic extrapolation technique is used for linearization and fast converging finite double Chebyshev series is used for spatial discretization of the governing nonlinear equations of equilibrium. The effects of Winkler and Pasternak foundation parameters, temperature and moisture concentration on nonlinear flexural response of the laminated composite rectangular plate with different lamination scheme and boundary conditions are presented.  相似文献

Non-linear static and dynamic analysis is presented for composite laminated anti-symmetric square plates supported on non-linear elastic foundation subjected to uniformly distributed transverse and step loading, respectively. The formulation is based on first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and Von-Karman non-linearity, subgrade interaction is modeled as shear deformable with cubic nonlinearity. The methodology of solution is based on the Chebyshev series technique. The coupled non-linear partial differential equations are linearized using quadratic extrapolation technique. Houbolt time marching scheme is employed for temporal discretisation. An incremental iterative approach is employed for the solution. The effects of foundation stiffness parameters and boundary conditions on the non-linear static and dynamic analysis on the central response are studied.  相似文献
