In this paper we give the complete answer to a question posed by A. Arhangel?skii and prove that the sphere SnSn is diagonal resolvable if and only if SnSn is an H  -space if and only if n∈{0,1,3,7}n{0,1,3,7}. Moreover, we prove that any upper half even dimensional QQ-sphere cannot be diagonal resolvable.  相似文献

In 1982-1983, E. Nochka proved a conjecture of Cartan on defects of holomorphic curves in Pn relative to a possibly degenerate set of hyperplanes. This was further explained by W. Chen in his 1987 thesis, and subsequently simplified by M. Ru and P.-M. Wong in 1991. The proof involved assigning weights to the hyperplanes. This paper provides further simplification of the proof of the construction of the weights, by bringing back the use of the convex hull in working with the “Nochka diagram.”  相似文献

Given a latticeL we are looking for a basisB=[b 1, ...b n ] ofL with the property that bothB and the associated basisB *=[b 1 * , ...,b n * ] of the reciprocal latticeL * consist of short vectors. For any such basisB with reciprocal basisB * let . Håstad and Lagarias [7] show that each latticeL of full rank has a basisB withS(B)exp(c 1·n 1/3) for a constantc 1 independent ofn. We improve this upper bound toS(B)exp(c 2·(lnn)2) withc 2 independent ofn.We will also introduce some new kinds of lattice basis reduction and an algorithm to compute one of them. The new algorithm proceeds by reducing the quantity . In combination with an exhaustive search procedure, one obtains an algorithm to compute the shortest vector and a Korkine-Zolotarev reduced basis of a lattice that is efficient in practice for dimension up to 30.  相似文献

Almost thirty years ago Coleman made a conjecture that for any convex lattice polygon with v vertices, g (g?1) interior lattice points and b boundary lattice points we have b?2g-v+10. In this note we give a proof of the conjecture. We also aim to describe all convex lattice polygons for which the bound b=2g-v+10 is attained.  相似文献

We use the dyadic trace to define the concept of slope for integral lattices. We present an introduction to the theory of the slope invariant. The main theorem states that a Siegel modular cusp form f of slope strictly less than the slope of an integral lattice with Gram matrix s satisfies f()=0 for all τ in the upper half plane. We compute the dyadic trace and the slope of each root lattice and we give applications to Siegel modular cusp forms.  相似文献

Let K be a global A-field of finite A-characteristic and let ? be a rank one Drinfeld A-module over K. Given any αK, we show that the set of places P of K for which α is a primitive root modulo P under the action of ? possesses a Dirichlet density. While most proofs of the Weil bound on one-variable Kloosterman sums over finite fields are carried out in all characteristics, the original proof of this bound, by Weil, assumes the characteristic is odd. We show how to make Weil's argument work in even characteristic, for both ordinary Kloosterman sums and sums twisted by a multiplicative character.  相似文献

Let be the polynomial ring over a finite field. We prove that for every element a of a global -field of finite -characteristic the set of places for which a is a primitive root under the Carlitz action possesses a Dirichlet density. We also give a criterion for this density to be positive. This is an analogue of Bilharz’ version of the primitive roots conjecture of Artin, with replaced by the Carlitz module.  相似文献

We introduce a parameter space for periodic point sets, given as unions of m translates of point lattices. In it we investigate the behavior of the sphere packing density function and derive sufficient conditions for local optimality. Using these criteria we prove that perfect, strongly eutactic lattices cannot be locally improved to yield a periodic sphere packing with greater density. This applies in particular to the densest known lattice sphere packings in dimension d?8 and d=24.  相似文献

Let H be a definite quaternion algebra over Q with discriminant DH and R a maximal order of H. We denote by Gn a quaternionic unitary group and put Γn=Gn(Q)∩GL2n(R). Let Sκ(Γn) be the space of cusp forms of weight κ with respect to Γn on the quaternion half-space of degree n. We construct a lifting from primitive forms in Sk(SL2(Z)) to Sk+2n−2(Γn) and a lifting from primitive forms in Sk(Γ0(d)) to Sk+2(Γ2), where d is a factor of DH. These liftings are generalizations of the Maass lifting investigated by Krieg.  相似文献
