This paper is concerned with a class of fourth-order nonlinear elliptic equations with nonlocal boundary conditions, including a multi-point boundary condition in a bounded domain of Rn. Also considered is a second-order elliptic equation with nonlocal boundary condition, and the usual multi-point boundary problem in ordinary differential equations. The aim of the paper is to show the existence of maximal and minimal solutions, the uniqueness of a positive solution, and the method of construction for these solutions. Our approach to the above problems is by the method of upper and lower solutions and its associated monotone iterations. The monotone iterative schemes can be developed into computational algorithms for numerical solutions of the problem by either the finite difference method or the finite element method.  相似文献

We study the controllability properties of a nonlinear parabolic system that models the temperature evolution of a one-dimensional thermoelastic rod that may come into contact with a rigid obstacle. Basically the system dynamics is described by a one-dimensional nonlocal heat equation with a nonlinear and nonlocal boundary condition of Newmann type. We focus on the control problem and treat the case when the control is distributed over the whole space domain. In this case the system is proved to be exactly null controllable provided the parameters of the system are smooth. The proof is based on changing the control variable and using Aubins Compactness Lemma to obtain an invariant set for the linearized controllability map. Then, by proving that the found solution is sufficiently smooth, we get the null controllability for the original system.  相似文献

In this paper we consider an initial boundary value problem for a reaction-diffusion equation under nonlinear and nonlocal Robin type boundary condition. Assuming the existence of an ordered pair of upper and lower solutions we establish a generalized quasilinearization method for the problem under consideration whose characteristic feature consists in the construction of monotone sequences converging to the unique solution within the interval of upper and lower solutions, and whose convergence rate is quadratic. Thus this method provides an efficient iteration technique that produces not only improved approximations due to the monotonicity of its iterates, but yields also a measure of the convergence rate.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to investigate the existence of iterative solutions for a class of 2nth-order nonlinear multi-point boundary value problems. The multi-point boundary condition under consideration includes various commonly discussed boundary conditions, such as three- or four-point boundary condition, (n + 2)-point boundary condition and 2(n − m)-point boundary condition. The existence problem is based on the method of upper and lower solutions and its associated monotone iterative technique. A monotone iteration is developed so that the iterative sequence converges monotonically to a maximal solution or a minimal solution, depending on whether the initial iteration is an upper solution or a lower solution. Two examples are presented to illustrate the results.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a nonautonomous size and class age structured epidemic model with nonlinear and nonlocal boundary conditions. For a nonlinear pseudoparabolic equation with one space dimension we consider its initial boundary value problem on an interval. The boundary condition on the left end is of Dirichlet type, the right end condition is replaced by a nonlocal one. Because it is given by an integral, the function involved could exhibit singularities, which distinguishes this nonlocal condition from its Dirichlet counterpart. Based on an elliptic estimate and an iteration method we established the well-posedness of solutions in a weighted Sobolev space.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the Nicholson blowflies equation with nonlinear diffusion and time delay subject to the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition in a bounded domain. We establish the existence of nontrivial periodic solutions of the time-periodic problem under general conditions by constructing a coupled upper–lower solution pair and by applying the Schauder fixed point theorem. The attractivity of the periodic solutions is also discussed by using the monotone iteration method.  相似文献

We develop an approximation framework for identifying parameters in a general class of nonautonomous, nonlocal and nonlinear evolution equations. After establishing existence and uniqueness of solutions, we present a convergence theory for Galerkin approximations to inverse problems involving these equations. Our approach relies on the theory of maximal monotone operators in Banach spaces. An application to a nonautonomous nonlinear integral equation arising in heat flow is also discussed.  相似文献

We study nonlocal diffusion models of the form
Here Ω is a bounded smooth domain andγ is a maximal monotone graph in . This is a nonlocal diffusion problem analogous with the usual Laplacian with Neumann boundary conditions. We prove existence and uniqueness of solutions with initial conditions in L 1 (Ω). Moreover, when γ is a continuous function we find the asymptotic behaviour of the solutions, they converge as t → ∞ to the mean value of the initial condition. Dedicated to I. In this paper we consider two quasilinear boundary value problems. The first is vector valued and has periodic boundary conditions. The second is scalar valued with nonlinear boundary conditions determined by multivalued maximal monotone maps. Using the theory of maximal monotone operators for reflexive Banach spaces and the Leray-Schauder principle we establish the existence of solutions for both problems.  相似文献

We study a coupled nonlinear boundary value problem which has been shown to have applications to fluid flow and heat transfer in a fluid film over a stretching surface for set values of the model parameters (one of which determines the size of the problem domain). For arbitrary values of these parameters we are able to establish the existence and uniqueness of a class of monotone solutions. Perturbation solutions are then constructed and used to approximate certain invariants for the solutions. We then study a related boundary value problem formed by imposing an additional boundary condition on one of the governing equations (which results in an ill-posed problem), and we arrive at conditions allowing for solutions to this four-parameter problem to agree with the solutions to the three-parameter problem.  相似文献

We deal with the existence of weak solutions of double degenerate quasilinear parabolic inequalities with a Signorini-Dirichlet-Neumann type mixed boundary condition, which may degenerate in certain subset of the boundary or on a segment in the interior of the domain and in time. The main tools in our study are the maximM monotone property of the derivative operator with zero-initial valued conditions and the theory of pseudomonotone perturbations of maximal monotone mappings.  相似文献

In this article we present a new fixed point theorem for a class of general mixed monotone operators, which extends the existing corresponding results. Moreover, we establish some pleasant properties of nonlinear eigenvalue problems for mixed monotone operators. Based on them the local existence-uniqueness of positive solutions for nonlinear boundary value problems which include Neumann boundary value problems, three-point boundary value problems and elliptic boundary value problems for Lane-Emden-Fowler equations is proved. This study focuses on nonlocal boundary value problems (BVPs) for linear and nonlinear elliptic differential-operator equations (DOEs) that are defined in Banach-valued function spaces. The considered domain is a region with varying bound and depends on a certain parameter. Some conditions that guarantee the maximal Lp -regularity and Fredholmness of linear BVPs, uniformly with respect to this parameter, are presented. This fact implies that the appropriate differential operator is a generator of an analytic semigroup. Then, by using these results, the existence, uniqueness and maximal smoothness of solutions of nonlocal BVPs for nonlinear DOEs are shown. These results are applied to nonlocal BVPs for regular elliptic partial differential equations, finite and infinite systems of differential equations on cylindrical domains, in order to obtain the algebraic conditions that guarantee the same properties.  相似文献
