A three-stage compensator used for Polarization mode dispersion (PMD) and Chromatic dispersion (CD) compensation is proposed. The compensator is capable of compensating the two components of second-order PMD when no CD exists. Two operating points of compensating second-order PMD have been proposed. Two-stage and three-stage compensators are compared by the outage probability. When CD is introduced, the compensator should retain a quantity of second-order PMD to compensate CD. The outage probability when PMD and CD coexist has been calculated. The results show that a tradeoff must be made in order to compensate CD and PMD at the same time.  相似文献

本文建立了偏分复用系统中偏振模色散与信号偏振态变化引起信道串扰的数学模型, 分析了偏振模色散对偏分复用信道射频功率的影响, 并提出了适用于偏分复用系统的光域偏振模色散补偿与偏分解复用同时进行的方案: 用信道的射频功率作为反馈控制信号, 监测链路中偏振模色散和偏振态变化引起的信道串扰的大小, 用改进的粒子群优化算法对偏振控制器进行自适应控制, 同时完成偏振模色散补偿与偏分解复用. 在112 Gb/s偏分复用-差分正交相移键控(PDM-DQPSK)传输系统中仿真验证了该方案的有效性. 结果表明该方案可以使112 Gb/s-PDM-DQPSK传输系统完成自适应偏分解复用的同时, 在1 dB的光信噪比代价下, 使系统对偏振模色散的容忍度提高20 ps. 关键词: 偏分复用系统 信道串扰 偏振模色散 偏分解复用  相似文献

研究了无损光纤的密勒矩阵,进而得出了偏振模色散矢量的解析表达式、主偏振态对应的斯托克斯矢量的解析表达式,以及高阶偏振模色散矢量的解析表达式.这些解析表达式是由光纤参数决定的.讨论了局部偏振模色散矢量与整体偏振模色散矢量的关系,讨论了利用偏振模色散矢量进行偏振模色散补偿的原理.引入了偏振模色散补偿元件的偏振模色散补偿矢量C,具体计算了正规的非圆光波导类的补偿元件的C.从理论上证明了仅仅利用一个正规的非圆光波导类的补偿元件,例如一根保偏光纤或是一个双折射晶体,是不能实现偏振模色散补偿 关键词: 偏振模色散 密勒矩阵 色散补偿 主偏振态斯托克斯矢量  相似文献

A new electrical-domain precoder is proposed to mitigate polarization mode dispersion (PMD) in optical communications by modeling a PMD-dominant fiber optical channel using a single input multiple output (SIMO) channel. Employing a bank of finite impulse response filters and a polarization modulator, and using parameters derived from the Jones matrix representation of PMD, the proposed precoder efficiently adapts to the time-varying nature of PMD and simultaneously pre-equalizes both polarization modes at the transmitter. The transmitter-only structure avoids losing phase and polarization information due to the nonlinearity of the commonly used square law direct-detection receiver. Analysis is performed to evaluate the impact of channel mismatch due to feedback delay, channel estimation errors, and the impact of the finite length of the precoder filters. The analytical results are used to guide selection of the appropriate feedback rate for the adaptive system. Extensive simulation results confirm the efficiency of the proposed Jones precoder, and present it as an effective, low-cost replacement to the complicated, expensive optical-domain counter-parts.  相似文献

This paper reports that the designed optical polarization mode dispersion compensator shows a good performance under the real-time variation of differential group delay, state of polarization and principal state of polarization in a (40 × 43)-Gb/s dense-wavelength-multiplexing, 1200-km enhanced return-to-zero differential-quadrature-phase-shift-keying (RZ-DQPSK) system. The polarization mode dispersion tolerance of the system is improved by 26 ps using the optical polarization mode dispersion compensator. 对40Gb/s光纤通信中归零码和非归零码光脉冲的偏振度随二阶偏振模色散的变化规律进行了数值模拟,结果表明由于二阶偏振模色散的影响,偏振度的变化趋势呈现出震荡性,二阶偏振模色散对归零码的偏振度要比非归零码的偏振度影响明显;同时搭建了偏振模色散补偿系统,对系统进行数值模拟和实验所得到的结果都表明,以偏振度作为反馈信号,采用粒子群优化算法作搜索算法能够有效地对归零码和非归零码系统的一阶及高阶偏振模色散进行自适应补偿。  相似文献

The cross-phase modulation (XPM) changes the state-of-polarization (SOP) of various channels and leads to amplitude modulation of the propagating waves in a WDM system. Due to the presence of polarization mode dispersion (PMD), the angles between the SOP of the channels change randomly and cause the modulation amplitude fluctuation random in the perturbed channel. We analytically derive the dynamic equation of the perturbed channel, determine the combined probability density function of the random angle between the SOP of pumps and probe channel and evaluate the effects of PMD on XPM for a 4-channel IM-DD WDM system in terms of BER at bit rate of 10 Gb/s per channel. We also simulate the impact PMD on XPM for a 4-channel WDM system in terms of eye diagram and found that eye opening penalty is 1.85 dB higher when the fiber PMD coefficient increases from 0.5 to 1.5 ps/√km.  相似文献

Polarization mode dispersion (PMD) is the ultimate limitation to high bit-rate fibre communication system. The stability of PMD is very important to its measurement and compensation. This paper puts forward a method to measure the stability of PMD by measuring the stability of the state of polarization (SOP) and introduces the conception of time evolution vector (TEV) of SOP. We observe the fact that the regularity of the principal state of polarization changing with time is the same as other SOPs‘‘, if we neglect the dependence of TEV on wavelength. We also measure the SOP‘‘s stability of some fibres with different lengths, and obtain results of PMD changing with time.  相似文献

The model for treating polarization mode dispersion in two channel (WDM) system is established. Based on this model, optical signal propagation behaviors in two channel WDM with polarization mode dispersion are numerically simulated. We investigated the general properties of polarization effects in optical fibres and demonstrated the existence of socalled principal states of polarization (PSP), which mean the fixed points in mathematics, in different polarization effects,such as birefringence and polarization mode dispersion, by using fixed point theory. Furthermore, a time evolution vector is defined to describe the time evolution of polarization state in optical fibres, which is used to investigate the time evolution of polarization mode dispersion vector (PDV), including differential group delay and PSP. The experimental results of real-time monitoring of PDV by using this method are reported. To our knowledge, this is the first report on monitoring PSP evolution in optical fibres.  相似文献

偏振模色散效应严重制约着长距离高速光纤通信的发展,偏振模色散的自适应补偿成为光通信领域研究的焦点。利用两阶段偏振模色散补偿器,采用6个自由度的粒子群优化算法(PSO),通过在线监测搜索光纤链路信号的偏振度极值作为反馈控制信息,在40Gb/s归零码高速光纤传输链路中成功实现了ms量级的偏振模色散自适应补偿。补偿前后采用庞加莱球法测量光纤链路中偏振模色散量,测量结果表明在信号中心波长1560.5nm处,差分群时延补偿前后测量值分别为21ps和1.3ps,而二阶偏振模色散补偿前后测量值分别为266ps^2和43.5ps^2。补偿后实验链路中的一阶和二阶的偏振模色散同时得到不同程度的补偿,并且系统的总的功率代价在误码率为10^-9时小于1dB。  相似文献

In this paper we present numerical and experimental results of propagation and polarization properties of the photonic liquid crystal fibers (PLCFs) in which only selected micro holes were filled with nematic liquid crystal (LC) guest materials. As a host photonic crystal fiber (PCF) structure, we used a commercially available highly birefringent PCF (Blazephotonics, UK). A tunable laser operated at infrared has powered the PLCFs under investigation infiltrated by the 1550 nematic LC synthesized at the Military University of Technology. Temperature induced changes of the polarization mode dispersion (PMD) as well switching between fundamental and higher order modes and also single-core and two-core propagation were successfully demonstrated.  相似文献

偏振模色散是高速光纤通信系统的主要问题之一。在用偏振度作为反馈信号的动态偏振模色散补偿系统中,偏振度与差分群延时的关系对于准确快速的动态偏振模色散补偿很重要。推导出了准单色光波情况下任意波形和高斯脉冲的偏振度的数学表达式,理论分析了高斯脉冲情况下分光比、脉冲宽度和连续脉冲个数分别对偏振度与差分群延时关系的影响,并用10Gbit/s归零/不归零伪随机码序列进行了实验,实验证明了理论推导和理论分析的正确性。实验还表明偏振度的大小与脉冲啁啾和光纤色散无关,从而肯定了将实际光脉冲化简为准单色光波分析的可行性。  相似文献

给出了偏振度与偏振模色散关系的理论模型,分析了非归零和归零两种调制方式下的偏振度与偏振模色散关系特性,结果表明偏振度町以作为实时检测偏振模色散的信号;且偏振度对偏振模色散的有效检测范围不大于调制光信号的占空比α,同时检测灵敏度与有效检测范围成反比;在非归零调制时偏振度对偏振模色散的有效检测范围最宽,为调制光信号的一个调制周期,是常规归零调制(占空比为0.5)时的2倍,但灵敏度只有常规归零调制时的一半。进一步探讨了在实际应用中改善偏振度对偏振模色散的有效检测范围和灵敏度的方法。实验验证了非归零调制时偏振度与偏振模色散关系特性。  相似文献

An experiment of two-stage adaptive compensation for polarization mode dispersion (PMD) in a 40 Gb/s optical time-division multiplexed (OTDM) communication system is reported. The PMD monitoring technique based on degree of polarization (DOP) was adopted. The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm was introduced in adaptive PMD compensation. The comparison was made to estimate the effectiveness between PSO algorithms with global neighborhood structure (GPSO) and with local neighborhood structure (LPSO). The LPSO algorithm is shown to be more effective to search global optimum for PMD compensation than GPSO algorithm. The ability of tracking changed PMD using PSO algorithm was also investigated. The two-stage PMD compensator is shown to be effective for both first- and second-order PMD, and the compensator is shown to be bit rate independent. The optimum searching time is within several hundreds of milliseconds. The response time for recovery from a sharp disturbance is about 11 ms.  相似文献

根据钛宝石飞秒激光器的色散补偿要求设计了单次反射平均补偿量为-60 fs2的GT(Gires-Tournois)镜,采用离子束辅助沉积技术结合光学监控技术制作了器件.用分光光度计对650—950 nm波段薄膜反射率进行测试,结果表明反射率测试曲线与设计曲线十分符合,同时利用白光干涉系统对群延迟色散进行了测试,测试结果与设计符合得很好,实际的色散曲线振荡基本控制在±20 fs2以内.应用该GT镜进行钛宝石飞秒激光系统的色散补偿,取得了很好的锁模效果,得到了29 fs的超短脉冲. 关键词: 色散补偿 钛宝石飞秒激光器 GT镜 离子束辅助沉积  相似文献

偏振模色散动态补偿中色度色散影响的研究   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
分析了色度色散(CD)对偏振模色散(PMD)动态补偿中偏振度(DOP)反馈的影响,模拟和实验验证了2.5Gb/s和10Gb/s非归零调制系统中光信号偏振度特性和系统误码率特性。表明有色度色散作用时信号偏振度值比仅受偏振模色散作用时要大.但误码率随色度色散量增加先轻度好转后就逐渐变差.偏振度值将不能如实反映偏振模色散对系统性能的影响。且信号两正交偏振分量间能量差别越小或差分群延迟越大,上述两种情况下信号偏振度值偏离就越远。这种偏离还随系统速率和色度色散量的增加而加剧。进一步探讨了实际偏振模色散补偿中减轻色度色散影响的措施,表明当系统中同时存在偏振模色散和色度色散影响时,必须在基于偏振度反馈的偏振模色散补偿前完成色度色散补偿。  相似文献
