In this article, we define the Green function for the Dirac operator under two local boundary conditions: the condition associated with a chirality operator (also called the chiral bag boundary condition) and the MIT bag boundary condition. Then we give some applications of these constructions for each Green function. From the existence of the chiral Green function, we derive an inequality on a spin conformal invariant which, in some cases, solves the Yamabe problem on manifolds with boundary. Finally, using the MIT Green function, we give a simple proof of a positive mass theorem previously proved by Escobar.  相似文献

We investigate manifolds with boundary in noncommutative geometry. Spectral triples associated to a symmetric differential operator and a local boundary condition are constructed. In this work, we study two operators that arise in electromagnetic scattering in chiral media. We first consider electromagnetic scattering by a chiral dielectric with a perfectly conducting core. We define a chiral Calderon‐type surface operator in order to solve the direct electromagnetic scattering problem. For this operator, we state coercivity and prove compactness properties. In order to prove existence and uniqueness of the problem, we define some other operators that are also related to the chiral Calderon‐type operator, and we state some of their properties that they and their linear combinations satisfy. Then we sketch how to use these operators in order to prove the existence of the solution of the direct scattering problem. Furthermore, we focus on the electromagnetic scattering problem by a perfect conductor in a chiral environment. For this problem, we study the chiral far‐field operator that is defined on a unit sphere and contains the far‐field data, and we state and prove some of its properties that are preliminaries properties for solving the inverse scattering problem. It is shown that the index of a constrained critical point in the isoperimetric calculus of variations is simply related to the number of negative eigenvalues of a certain bordered operator associated with the second variation. Convergence and analytic extension are of fundamental importance in the mathematical construction and study of conformal field theory. The author reviews some main convergence results, conjectures and problems in the construction and study of conformal field theories using the representation theory of vertex operator algebras. He also reviews the related analytic extension results, conjectures and problems. He discusses the convergence and analytic extensions of products of intertwining operators (chiral conformal fields) and of q-traces and pseudo-q-traces of products of intertwining operators. He also discusses the convergence results related to the sewing operation and the determinant line bundle and a higher-genus convergence result. He then explains conjectures and problems on the convergence and analytic extensions in orbifold conformal field theory and in the cohomology theory of vertex operator algebras.  相似文献

Let L=-div(A▽) be a second order divergence form elliptic operator, and A be an accretive, n×n matrix with bounded measurable complex coefficients in Rn. We obtain the Lp bounds for the commutator generated by the Kato square root √L and a Lipschitz function, which recovers a previous result of Calderón, by a different method. In this work, we develop a new theory for the commutators associated to elliptic operators with Lipschitz function. The theory of the commutator with Lipschitz function is distinguished from the analogous elliptic operator theory.  相似文献

In this article solvability results for the direct electromagnetic scattering problem for a mixed perfectly conducting-impedance screen in a chiral environment is studied. In particular, incident time-harmonic electromagnetic waves in a chiral medium upon a partially coated open surface Γ (the ‘screen’), that satisfies an impedance boundary condition on one side and a perfectly conducting boundary condition on the other side, are considered. We introduce the Beltrami fields, appropriate boundary integral relations for these fields are proved and via them a uniqueness result is established. A variational method in a suitable functional space setting is considered and using a Calderon type operator for the chiral case, existence for the scattering problem is established.  相似文献

Normal form theory is very important and useful in simplifying the forms of equations restricted on the center manifolds in studying nonlinear dynamical problems. In this paper, using the center manifold theorem associated with the integrated semigroup theory, we develop a normal form theory for semilinear Cauchy problems in which the linear operator is not densely defined and is not a Hille–Yosida operator and present procedures to compute the Taylor expansion and normal form of the reduced system restricted on the center manifold. We then apply the main results and computation procedures to determine the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions in a structured evolutionary epidemiological model of influenza A drift and an age structured population model.  相似文献

We investigate Riesz bases of wavelets generated from multiresolution analysis. This investigation leads us to a study of refinement equations with masks being exponentially decaying sequences. In order to study such refinement equations we introduce the cascade operator and the transition operator. It turns out that the transition operator associated with an exponentially decaying mask is a compact operator on a certain Banach space of sequences. With the help of the spectral theory of the compact operator we are able to characterize the convergence of the cascade algorithm associated with an exponentially decaying mask in terms of the spectrum of the corresponding transition operator. As an application of this study we establish the main result of this paper which gives a complete characterization of all possible Riesz bases of compactly supported wavelets generated from multiresolution analysis. Several interesting examples are provided to illustrate the general theory.  相似文献

A protolocalisation of a homological (resp. semi-abelian) category is a regular full reflective subcategory, whose reflection preserves short exact sequences. We study the closure operator and the torsion theory associated with such a situation. We pay special attention to the fibered, the regular epireflective and the monoreflective cases. This is the fourth part in a series of papers developing a tensor product theory of modules for a vertex operator algebra. In this paper, we establish the associativity of P(z)-tensor products for nonzero complex numbers z constructed in Part III of the present series under suitable conditions. The associativity isomorphisms constructed in this paper are analogous to associativity isomorphisms for vector space tensor products in the sense that they relate the tensor products of three elements in three modules taken in different ways. The main new feature is that they are controlled by the decompositions of certain spheres with four punctures into spheres with three punctures using a sewing operation. We also show that under certain conditions, the existence of the associativity isomorphisms is equivalent to the associativity (or (nonmeromorphic) operator product expansion in the language of physicists) for the intertwining operators (or chiral vertex operators). Thus the associativity of tensor products provides a means to establish the (nonmeromorphic) operator product expansion.  相似文献

A Volterra type integral equation in a Hilbert space with an additional linear operator L and a spectral parameter depending on time is considered. If the parameter does not belong to the spectrum of L unconditional solvability of the considered problem is proved. In the case where the initial value of the parameter coincides with some isolated point of the spectrum of the operator L sufficient conditions for solvability are established. The obtained results are applied to the partial integral equations associated with a contact problem of the theory of elasticity.  相似文献

We develop a scattering theory for CMV matrices, similar to the Faddeev–Marchenko theory. A necessary and sufficient condition is obtained for the uniqueness of the solution of the inverse scattering problem. We also obtain two sufficient conditions for uniqueness, which are connected with the Helson–Szegő and the strong Szegő theorems. The first condition is given in terms of the boundedness of a transformation operator associated with the CMV matrix. In the second case this operator has a determinant. In both cases we characterize Verblunsky parameters of the CMV matrices, corresponding spectral measures and scattering functions.  相似文献

A theory of spectral representations and spectral density operators of infinite-dimensional homogeneous random fields is established. Some results concerning the form of the spectral representation are given in the general infinite-dimensional case, while the results pertaining to the density operator are confined to Hilbert space valued fields. The concept of a purely non-deterministic (p.n.d.) field is defined, and necessary and sufficient conditions for the property of p.n.d. are obtained in terms of the spectral density operator. The theory is developed using some isomorphisms induced by families of self-adjoint operators in the linear second order space associated with the field. The method seems to lead to more direct results also in the random process case, and it sheds new light on concepts such as multiplicity of the field and rank of the spectral density operator.  相似文献

We study a model of repeated interaction between quantum systems which can be thought of as a non-commutative Markov chain. It is shown that there exists an outgoing Cuntz scattering system associated to this model which induces an input-output formalism with a transfer function corresponding to a multi-analytic operator, in the sense of multivariate operator theory. Finally we show that observability for this system is closely related to the scattering theory of non-commutative Markov chains.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish a Hopf bifurcation theorem for abstract Cauchy problems in which the linear operator is not densely defined and is not a Hille?CYosida operator. The theorem is proved using the center manifold theory for non-densely defined Cauchy problems associated with the integrated semigroup theory. As applications, the main theorem is used to obtain a known Hopf bifurcation result for functional differential equations and a general Hopf bifurcation theorem for age-structured models.  相似文献

In this paper, we further develop the left-definite and right-definite spectral theory associated with the self-adjoint differential operator A in L2(-1,1), generated from the classical second-order Legendre differential equation, having the sequence of Legendre polynomials as eigenfunctions. Specifically, we determine the first three left-definite spaces associated with the pair (L2(-1,1),A). As a consequence of these results, we determine the explicit domain of both the associated left-definite operator A1, first observed by Everitt, and the self-adjoint operator A1/2. In addition, we give a new characterization of the domain D(A) of A and, as a corollary, we present a new proof of the Everitt-Mari result which gives optimal global smoothness of functions in D(A).  相似文献

Dissipative Schrödinger operators with a matrix potential are studied in L2((0,∞);E)(dimE=n<∞) which are extension of a minimal symmetric operator L0 with defect index (n,n). A selfadjoint dilation of a dissipative operator is constructed, using the Lax-Phillips scattering theory, the spectral analysis of a dilation is carried out, and the scattering matrix of a dilation is founded. A functional model of the dissipative operator is constructed and its characteristic function's analytic properties are determined, theorems on the completeness of eigenvectors and associated vectors of a dissipative Schrödinger operator are proved.  相似文献
