Complementarity problems for multivalued monotone operator in Banach spaces

We utilize S. Park's maximal element theorem in this paper to prove the existence theorems of solutions of the complementarity problems for multivalued monotone operator in Banach spaces.     

Skorohod problem and multivalued stochastic evolution equations in Banach spaces

By solving a deterministic Skorohod problem in the framework of evolutional triple, we prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions to multivalued stochastic evolution equations involving maximal monotone operators. The existence and uniqueness of invariant measures associated with the solutions as Markov processes are also considered in the present paper. Moreover, we apply the results to stochastic differential equations with normal reflecting boundary conditions and with singular drift terms, as well as a class of multivalued nonlinear stochastic partial differential equations with possibly discontinuous coefficients.     

Porosity of perturbed optimization problems in Banach spaces

Let X be a Banach space and Z a nonempty closed subset of X. Let be a lower semicontinuous function bounded from below. This paper is concerned with the perturbed optimization problem infz∈Z{J(z)+‖x−z‖}, denoted by (x,J)-inf for x∈X. In the case when X is compactly fully 2-convex, it is proved in the present paper that the set of all points x in X for which there does not exist z₀∈Z such that J(z₀)+‖x−z₀‖=infz∈Z{J(z)+‖x−z‖} is a σ-porous set in X. Furthermore, if X is assumed additionally to be compactly locally uniformly convex, we verify that the set of all points x∈X?Z⁰ such that the problem (x,J)-inf fails to be approximately compact, is a σ-porous set in X?Z⁰, where Z⁰ denotes the set of all z∈Z such that z∈PZ(z). Moreover, a counterexample to which some results of Ni [R.X. Ni, Generic solutions for some perturbed optimization problem in nonreflexive Banach space, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 302 (2005) 417-424] fail is provided.     

On K_0-groups of operator algebras on Banach spaces

This paper merges some classifications of G-M-type Banach spaces simplifically, discusses the condition of K0(B(X)) = 0 for operator algebra B(X) on a Banach space X, and obtains a result to improve Laustsen's sufficient condition, gives an example to show that X ≈ X2 is not a sufficient condition of K0(B(X)) = 0.

On K0-groups of operator algebras on Banach spaces

This paper merges some classifications of G-M-type Banach spaces simplifically, discusses the condition of K ₀(B(X)) = 0 for operator algebra B(X) on a Banach space X, and obtains a result to improve Laustsen's sufficient condition, gives an example to show that X ≈ X ² is not a sufficient condition of K ₀(B(X)) = 0.     

Fixed point results for multivalued contractions on ordered gauge spaces

The purpose of this article is to present fixed point results for multivalued E _≤-contractions on ordered complete gauge space. Our theorems generalize and extend some recent results given in M. Frigon [7], S. Reich [12], I.A. Rus and A. Petruşel [15] and I.A. Rus et al. [16].      

On the equivalence of nonlinear complementarity problems and least-element problems

Strictly pseudomonotoneZ-maps operating on Banach lattices are considered. Equivalence of complementarity problems and least-element problems is established under certain regularity and growth conditions. This extends a recent result by Riddell (1981) for strictly monotoneZ-maps to the pseudomonotone case. Common fixed points for generalized contractive multivalued operators in complete metric spaces

In this paper,we discuss some new fixed point theorems for a pair of multivalued operators which satisfy generalized contractive condition. Our results are the extension and improvement of corresponding results of single-valued operators. Finally, some examples are given to illustrate the usability of our results.     

Regular boundary value problems for complete second order elliptic differential-operator equations in UMD Banach spaces

We consider coerciveness and Fredholmness of nonlocal boundary value problems for complete second order elliptic differential-operator equations in UMD Banach spaces. In some special cases, the main coefficients of the boundary conditions may be bounded operators and not only complex numbers. Then, we prove an isomorphism, in particular, maximal L _p -regularity, of the problem with a linear parameter in the equation. In both cases, the boundary conditions may also contain unbounded operators in perturbation terms. Finally, application to regular nonlocal boundary value problems for elliptic equations of the second order in non-smooth domains are presented. Equations and boundary conditions may contain differential-integral parts. The spaces of solvability are Sobolev type spaces W _p,q ^2,2. On fixed point and almost fixed point problems of lower semicontinuous type multivalued mappings

In the present paper, some new almost fixed point theorems and fixed point theorems for lower semicontinuous type multivalued mappings are obtained in metrizable H-spaces.     

Frame expansions in separable Banach spaces

Banach frames are defined by straightforward generalization of (Hilbert space) frames. We characterize Banach frames (and Xd-frames) in separable Banach spaces, and relate them to series expansions in Banach spaces. In particular, our results show that we can not expect Banach frames to share all the nice properties of frames in Hilbert spaces.     

On hypercyclic operators on Banach spaces

We provide in this paper a direct and constructive proof of the following fact: for a Banach space there are bounded linear operators having hypercyclic vectors if and only if is separable and dim. This is a special case of a recent result, which in turn solves a problem proposed by S. Rolewicz.

     

On uniform convexity of Banach spaces

This paper gives some relations and properties of several kinds of generalized convexity in Banach spaces. As a result, it proves that every kind of uniform convexity implies the Banach-Sakes property, and several notions of uniform convexity in literature are actually equivalent.     

Littlewood-Paley inequalities in uniformly convex and uniformly smooth Banach spaces

It is proved that the inequality δX(ε)?cεp, p?2, where δX is the modulus of convexity of X, is sufficient and necessary for the inequality

     

Banach spaces in various positions

We formulate a general theory of positions for subspaces of a Banach space: we define equivalent and isomorphic positions, study the automorphy index a(Y,X) that measures how many non-equivalent positions Y admits in X, and obtain estimates of a(Y,X) for X a classical Banach space such as ?p,Lp,L₁,C(ωω) or C[0,1]. Then, we study different aspects of the automorphic space problem posed by Lindenstrauss and Rosenthal; namely, does there exist a separable automorphic space different from c₀ or ?₂? Recall that a Banach space X is said to be automorphic if every subspace Y admits only one position in X; i.e., a(Y,X)=1 for every subspace Y of X. We study the notion of extensible space and uniformly finitely extensible space (UFO), which are relevant since every automorphic space is extensible and every extensible space is UFO. We obtain a dichotomy theorem: Every UFO must be either an L_∞-space or a weak type 2 near-Hilbert space with the Maurey projection property. We show that a Banach space all of whose subspaces are UFO (called hereditarily UFO spaces) must be asymptotically Hilbertian; while a Banach space for which both X and X^∗ are UFO must be weak Hilbert. We then refine the dichotomy theorem for Banach spaces with some additional structure. In particular, we show that an UFO with unconditional basis must be either c₀ or a superreflexive weak type 2 space; that a hereditarily UFO Köthe function space must be Hilbert; and that a rearrangement invariant space UFO must be either L_∞ or a superreflexive type 2 Banach lattice.

Examples concerning heredity problems of WCG Banach spaces

We present two examples of WCG spaces that are not hereditarily WCG. The first is a space with an unconditional basis, and the second is a space such that is WCG and does not contain . The non-WCG subspace of has the additional property that is not WCG and is reflexive.

     

Evolution semigroups and time operators on Banach spaces

We present new general methods to obtain shift representation of evolution semigroups defined on Banach spaces. We introduce the notion of time operator associated with a generalized shift on a Banach space and give some conditions under which time operators can be defined on an arbitrary Banach space. We also tackle the problem of scaling of time operators and obtain a general result about the existence of time operators on Banach spaces satisfying some geometric conditions. The last part of the paper contains some examples of explicit constructions of time operators on function spaces.
