In this paper we introduce and study a weakened form of logarithmic Sobolev inequalities in connection with various others functional inequalities (weak Poincaré inequalities, general Beckner inequalities, etc.). We also discuss the quantitative behaviour of relative entropy along a symmetric diffusion semi-group. In particular, we exhibit an example where Poincaré inequality can not be used for deriving entropic convergence whence weak logarithmic Sobolev inequality ensures the result.   相似文献

We present a general criteria to prove that a probability measure satisfies a logarithmic Sobolev inequality, knowing that some of its marginals and associated conditional laws satisfy a logarithmic Sobolev inequality. We give sufficient conditions for a measured length space (X,d,ν) to admit local and global Poincaré inequalities, along with a Sobolev inequality. We first introduce a condition DM on (X,d,ν), defined in terms of transport of measures. We show that DM, together with a doubling condition on ν, implies a scale-invariant local Poincaré inequality. We show that if (X,d,ν) has nonnegative N-Ricci curvature and has unique minimizing geodesics between almost all pairs of points then it satisfies DM, with constant N2. The condition DM is preserved by measured Gromov-Hausdorff limits. We then prove a Sobolev inequality for measured length spaces with N-Ricci curvature bounded below by K>0. Finally we derive a sharp global Poincaré inequality.  相似文献

We show how to use Lyapunov functions to obtain functional inequalities which are stronger than Poincaré inequality (for instance logarithmic Sobolev or F-Sobolev). The case of Poincaré and weak Poincaré inequalities was studied in [D. Bakry, P. Cattiaux, A. Guillin, Rate of convergence for ergodic continuous Markov processes: Lyapunov versus Poincaré, J. Funct. Anal. 254 (3) (2008) 727-759. Available on Mathematics arXiv:math.PR/0703355, 2007]. This approach allows us to recover and extend in a unified way some known criteria in the euclidean case (Bakry and Emery, Wang, Kusuoka and Stroock, …).  相似文献

Friedrichs- and Poincaré-type inequalities are important and widely used in the area of partial differential equations and numerical analysis. Most of their proofs appearing in references are the argument of reduction to absurdity. In this paper, we give direct proofs of Friedrichs-type inequalities in H1(Ω) and Poincaré-type inequalities in some subspaces of W1,p(Ω). The dependencies of the inequality coefficients on the domain Ω and some sub-domains are illustrated explicitly.  相似文献

Using isoperimetry and symmetrization we provide a unified framework to study the classical and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. In particular, we obtain new Gaussian symmetrization inequalities and connect them with logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. We study extremal functions for a family of Poincaré-Sobolev-type inequalities. These functions minimize, for subcritical or critical p?2, the quotient ‖∇u2/‖up among all uH1(B)?{0} with Bu=0. Here B is the unit ball in RN. We show that the minimizers are axially symmetric with respect to a line passing through the origin. We also show that they are strictly monotone in the direction of this line. In particular, they take their maximum and minimum precisely at two antipodal points on the boundary of B. We also prove that, for p close to 2, minimizers are antisymmetric with respect to the hyperplane through the origin perpendicular to the symmetry axis, and that, once the symmetry axis is fixed, they are unique (up to multiplication by a constant). In space dimension two, we prove that minimizers are not antisymmetric for large p.  相似文献

We revisit two results of  [3]; they are a logarithmic Sobolev inequality on RnRn with Lipschitz constants and an expression of Lipschitz constants as the limit of a functional by the entropy. We have two goals in this paper. The first goal is to clarify when the strict inequality holds in this inequality. The second goal is to investigate the asymptotic behavior of this functional by the Abelian and Tauberian theorems of Laplace transforms.  相似文献

A general version of the Sobolev type inequality, including both the classical Sobolev inequality and the logarithmic Sobolev one, is studied for general symmetric forms by using isoperimetric constants. Some necessary and sufficient conditions are presented as results. The main results are illustrated by two examples of birth-death processes.

We present various results on the equivalence and mapping properties under affine transformations of fractional-order Sobolev norms and semi-norms of orders between zero and one. Main results are mutual estimates of the three semi-norms of Sobolev–Slobodeckij, interpolation and quotient space types. In particular, we show that the former two are uniformly equivalent under affine mappings that ensure shape regularity of the domains under consideration.  相似文献

We begin by studying certain semigroup estimates which are more singular than those implied by a Sobolev embedding theorem but which are equivalent to certain logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. We then give a method for proving that such log-Sobolev inequalities hold for Euclidean regions which satisfy a particular Hardy-type inequality. Our main application is to show that domains which have exterior exponential cusps, and hence have no Sobolev embedding theorem, satisfy such heat kernel bounds provided the cusps are not too sharp. Finally, we consider a rotationally invariant domain with an exponentially sharp cusp and prove that ultracontractivity breaks down when the cusp becomes too sharp.  相似文献

Here we derive very general multivariate tight integral inequalities of Chebyshev–Grüss, Ostrowski types and of comparison of integral means. These are based on well-known Sobolev integral representation of a function. Our inequalities engage ordinary and weak partial derivatives of the involved functions. We also give their applications. On the way to prove our main results we derive important estimates for the averaged Taylor polynomials and remainders of Sobolev integral representations.
