We prove some results giving positive answers to the perturbation classes problem for semi-Fredholm operators acting on Banach lattices satisfying certain conditions, and we show that these results can be applied to some Lorentz and Orlicz function spaces.  相似文献

It is shown that every positive strictly singular operator T on a Banach lattice satisfying certain conditions is AM-compact and has invariant subspaces. Moreover, every positive operator commuting with T has an invariant subspace. It is also proved that on such spaces the product of a disjointly strictly singular and a regular AM-compact operator is strictly singular. Finally, we prove that on these spaces the known invariant subspace results for compact-friendly operators can be extended to strictly singular-friendly operators.  相似文献

Using the technique of block-operators, in this note, we prove that if P and Q are idempotents and (P - Q)^2n+1 is in the trace class, then (P - Q)^2m+1 is also in the trace class and tr(P - Q)^2m+1 = dim(k(P) ∩ k(Q)^⊥) -dim(k(P)^⊥ N k(Q)), for all m ≥ n. Moreover, we prove that dim(k(P)∩ k(Q)^⊥) = dim(k(P)^⊥ ∩k(Q)) if and only if there exists a unitary U such that UP = QU and PU = UQ, where k(T) denotes the range of T. In this paper, we study composition operators on a Banach space of analytic functions, denoted byX, which includes the Bloch space. This space arises naturally as the dual space of analytic functions in the Bergman spaceL α 1 (D) which admit an atomic decomposition. We characterize the functions which induce compact composition operators and those which induce Fredholm operatorson this space. We also investigate when a composition operator has a closed range. In this paper, we prove that, if the product A=A1?An is a Fredholm operator where the ascent and descent of A are finite, then Aj is a Fredholm operator of index zero for all j, 1?j?n, where A1,…,An be a symmetric family of bounded operators. Next, we investigate a useful stability result for the Rako?evi?/Schmoeger essential spectra. Moreover, we show that some components of the Fredholm domains of bounded linear operators on a Banach space remain invariant under additive perturbations belonging to broad classes of operators A such as γ(Am)<1 where γ(⋅) is a measure of noncompactness. We also discuss the impact of these results on the behavior of the Rako?evi?/Schmoeger essential spectra. Further, we apply these latter results to investigate the Rako?evi?/Schmoeger essential spectra for singular neutron transport equations in bounded geometries.  相似文献

We first show that an inequality on Hilbert modules, obtained by Douglas and Yan in 1993, is always an equality. This allows us to establish the semi-continuity of the generalized Samuel multiplicities for a pair of commuting operators. Then we discuss the general structure of a Fredholm pair, aiming at developing a model theory. For application we prove that the Samuel additivity formula on Hilbert spaces of holomorphic functions is equivalent to a generalized Gleason problem. As a consequence it follows the additivity of Samuel multiplicity, in its full generality, on the symmetric Fock space. During the course we discover that a variant e(⋅) of the classic algebraic Samuel multiplicity might be more suitable for Hilbert modules and can lead to better results.  相似文献

It sometimes happens that geometric elliptic differential operators on a noncompact Riemannian manifold are Fredholm. The smooth parts of singular algebraic varieties provide examples of complete and incomplete manifolds where this can happen. The indices of such operators often provide topological or geometric information about the singular variety. This paper shows that the operators of the title represent K homology elements and solves the index problem for these operators by exhibiting equivalent K homology cycles in topological form.This material is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. DMS-8501513.  相似文献

We prove an abstract and flexible continuation theorem for zeros of parametrized Fredholm maps between Banach spaces. It guarantees not only the existence of zeros to corresponding equations, but also that they form a continuum for parameters from a connected manifold. Our basic tools are transfer maps and a specific topological degree. The main result is tailor-made to solve boundary value problems over infinite time-intervals and for the (global) continuation of homoclinic solutions.  相似文献

In this research article, we work with the notion of the measures of noncompactness in order to establish some results concerning the essential pseudospectra of closed, densely defined linear operators in the Banach space. We start by giving a refinement of the definition of the essential pseudospectra by means of the measure of noncompactness, and we give sufficient conditions on the perturbed operator to have its invariance. We show how to compute the Fredholm index of a Toeplitz operator with a continuous symbol constructed from any subnormal operator with compact self-commutator. We also show that the essential spectral pictures of such Toeplitz operators can be prescribed arbitrarily.

One may trace the idea that spectral flow should be given as the integral of a one form back to the 1974 Vancouver ICM address of I.M. Singer. Our main theorem gives analytic formulae for the spectral flow along a norm differentiable path of self adjoint bounded Breuer-Fredholm operators in a semifinite von Neumann algebra. These formulae have a geometric interpretation which derives from the proof. Namely we define a family of Banach submanifolds of all bounded self adjoint Breuer-Fredholm operators and on each submanifold define global one forms whose integral on a norm differentiable path contained in the submanifold calculates the spectral flow along this path. We emphasise that our methods do not give a single globally defined one form on the self adjoint Breuer-Fredholms whose integral along all paths is spectral flow rather, as the choice of the plural ‘forms’ in the title suggests, we need a family of such one forms in order to confirm Singer's idea. The original context for this result concerned paths of unbounded self adjoint Fredholm operators. We therefore prove analogous formulae for spectral flow in the unbounded case as well. The proof is a synthesis of key contributions by previous authors, whom we acknowledge in detail in the introduction, combined with an additional important recent advance in the differential calculus of functions of non-commuting operators.  相似文献

Recently a lot of research has been done on hypercyclicity of a bounded linear operator on a Banach space, based on the hypercyclicity criterion obtained by Kitai in 1982, and independently by Gethner and Shapiro in 1987. By combining this criterion with one extra condition, Montes-Rodríguez obtained in 1996 a sufficient condition for the operator to have a closed infinite dimensional hypercyclic subspace, with a very technical proof. Since then, this result has been used extensively to generate new results on hypercyclic subspaces. In the present paper, we give a simple proof of the result of Montes-Rodríguez, by first establishing a few elementary results about the algebra of operators on a Banach space.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to enlarge some known results from Fredholm and perturbation theory in the Banach algebra of bounded operators on a Banach space to the Fredholm theory in Banach algebra with respect to a subalgebra.
