The photoluminescence (PL) of CdSe quantum dots (QD) in aqueous media has been studied in the presence of gold nanoparticles (NP) with different shapes. The steady state PL intensity of CdSe QD (1.5-2 nm in size) is quenched in the presence of gold NP. Picosecond bleach recovery and nanosecond time-resolved luminescence measurements show a faster bleach recovery and decrease in the lifetime of the emitting states of CdSe QD in the presence of quenchers. Surfactant-capped gold nanorods (NR) with aspect ratio of 3 and surfactant-capped and citrate-capped nanospheres (NS) of 12 nm diameter were used as quenchers in order to study the effect of shape and surface charge on the quenching rates. The Stern-Volmer kinetics model is used to examine the observed quenching behavior as a function of the quencher concentration. It was found that the quenching rate of NR is more than 1000 times stronger than that of NS with the same capping material. We also found that the quenching rate decreases as the length of the NR decreases, although the overlap between the CdSe emission and the NR absorption increases. This suggests that the quenching is a result of electron transfer rather than long-range (Forster-type) energy transfer processes. The quenching was attributed to the transfer of electron with energies below the Fermi level of gold to the trap holes of CdSe QD. The observed large difference between NR and NS quenching efficiencies was attributed to the presence of the [110] facets only in the NR, which have higher surface energy.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles with an average diameter of approximately 8 nm (Au approximately 15,000) were irradiated with a tightly focused pulse laser at 355 nm in an aqueous solution of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). Transient absorption spectra of the solution were measured at 25-100 ns after the laser irradiation. The observed transient absorption around 720 nm is assignable to the 2p <-- 1s transition of solvated electrons produced via multiple ionization of the gold nanoparticles. The nascent charge state of the gold nanoparticles was estimated from the transient absorbance. The dependence of the charge state on the SDS concentration shows a gradual increase from approximately +60 to approximately +70 in the 2 x 10(-4) to 3 x 10(-4) M range and an abrupt increase up to approximately +710 at the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of SDS, 8 x 10(-3) M. TEM measurements after laser irradiation reveal that the gold nanoparticles fragment into Au(approximately 1000) at a SDS concentration of 3 x 10(-4) M, whereas they are significantly dissociated into Au(approximately 100) above the CMC. The observed correlation between the nascent charge states and the extent of size reduction of the gold nanoparticles after the laser treatment indicates that the size reduction is caused by the Coulomb explosion of the highly charged gold nanoparticles. The mechanism of laser-induced size reduction is quantitatively discussed based on the liquid drop model.  相似文献

Water-soluble nanobiocomposite CdSe quantum dots were obtained using the stabilizing potential of natural biologically active polysaccharides galactomannan and κ-carrageenan. A complex of physicochemical methods was used to investigate the biphasic amorphous-crystalline structure of the obtained nanocomposites, the size range (4.8—6.9 nm) of the formed CdSe particles was determined, and, additionally, it was shown that aqueous solutions of the nanocomposites in question were characterized by the presence of photoluminescence in two spectral regions, namely, 410—450 and 510—580 nm.  相似文献

In this paper, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) was applied to measure the size of water-soluble quantum dots (QDs). The measurements were performed on a home-built FCS system based on the Stokes-Einstein equation. The obtained results showed that for bare CdTe QDs the sizes from FCS were larger than the ones from transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The brightness of QDs was also evaluated using FCS technique. It was found that the stability of the surface chemistry of QDs would be significantly improved by capping it with hard-core shell. Our data demonstrated that FCS is a simple, fast, and effective method for characterizing the fluorescent quantum dots, and is especially suitable for determining the fluorescent nanoparticles less than 10 nm in water solution.  相似文献

The Au-containing nanocomposites were synthesized by UV irradiation followed by the thermal treatment of chitosan oligomer solutions doped by HAuCl4. The size of the formed gold nanoparticles depends on the concentration of the dopant, which is proved by UV—Vis absorption spectroscopy and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). The antioxidant activity of the gold nanoparticles with respect to hydroxy radicals significantly depends on the specific surface of the particles, which was found using the secondary radical spin-trapping technique. The change in the ·OH radical concentration was monitored by the intensity of the ESR signal of the adduct of the spin trap (α-phenyl-N-tert-butylnitrone) with the Me·radicals formed in the reaction of ·OH with DMSO. The interaction of some diamines (ethylenediamine (EDA), 1,6-hexanediamine (HDA), o-phenylenediamine (OPD)) with CdSe quantum dots (QDs) is reported. With increasing concentration of EDA from 0 to 2.0 x 10(-6) mol l(-1), slight fluorescence enhancement is observed. However, the CdSe QDs fluorescence quenching is seen at relatively higher concentration of EDA. There is a red-shift of 0-7 nm in fluorescence emission spectra of CdSe QDs when the concentration of EDA is changed from 2.0 x 10(-6) to 8.0 x 10(-6) mol l(-1). The resonance light scattering (RLS) spectra of CdSe QDs have little change when the concentration of EDA is less than 5.0 x 10(-6) mol l(-1). It indicates there are little large particles formed in the solution. However, a significant increase of the RLS is observed in the 300-500 nm wavelength range after adding higher concentration than 5.0 x 10(-6) mol l(-1) EDA, which could be attributed to the large particles formed. The interaction between HDA and CdSe QDs is similar to that of EDA. However, with the OPD, it is found that the interaction is much different from those of EDA, HDA, and that the quenching, even at low concentration, is effective for CdSe QDs emission. The quenching phenomenon could be explained by a surface bound complexation equilibrium model.  相似文献

The interaction between CdSe quantum dots (QDs) and hemoglobin (Hb) was investigated by ultraviolet and visible (UV-vis) absorption spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and fluorescence (FL) spectroscopy. The intensity of UV-vis absorption spectrum of a mixture of CdSe QDs and Hb was obviously changed at the wavelength of 406nm at pH 7.0, indicating that CdSe QDs could bind with Hb. The influences of some factors on the interactions between CdSe QDs and Hb were studied in detail. The binding molar ratio of CdSe QDs and Hb was 12:1 by a mole-ratio method. The mechanism of the interaction between CdSe QDs and Hb was also discussed.  相似文献

Two different stabilizing agents thioglycolic acid (TGA) and l-cysteine (l-Cys) capped CdSe QDs with the diameter of 2 nm were synthesized, large amounts of stabilizing agents connected to CdSe QDs surface through Cd–S bond. The interaction between chitosan and QDs had been investigated, respectively. The interaction lead to the remarkable enhancement of RRS, RNLS and the enchantments were in proportional to the concentration of chitosan in a certain range. Under the optimal conditions, compared with TGA–CdSe QDs, the interaction between l-Cys–CdSe QDs with chitosan owned more broad linear range 0.042–3.0 μg mL−1 and lower detect limits 1.2 ng mL−1. The influences of factors on the interaction between chitosan with QDs and some foreign substances were all examined, which showed that the methods had a good sensitivity and selectivity. Based on this, it is hoped to build a method for the determination of chitosan using CdSe QDs as probes. Through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) transmission electron microscopy (TEM), it was speculated that CdSe QDs interacted with chitosan to form a network structure aggregates through electrostatic attraction and hydrophobic forces. The reasons for the enhancement of RRS intensity were assumed as follows: resonance enhanced Rayleigh scattering effect, increase of the molecular volume, and hydrophobic effect.  相似文献

We have performed ultrafast absorption bleach recovery and fluorescence upconversion measurements ( approximately 100 fs time resolution) for three CdSe samples, with nanoparticle diameters of 2.7, 2.9, and 4.3 nm. The two types of experiments provide complementary information regarding the contributions of the different processes involved in the fast relaxation of electrons and holes in the CdSe quantum dots. Transient absorption and emission experiments were conducted for the 1S [1Se-1S3/2(h)] transition, 1S(e) and 1S3/2(h) representing the lowest electron (e) and hole (h) levels. The bleach recovery of the 1S transition shows a approximately 400-500 fs initial rise, which is followed by a size-dependent approximately 10-90 ps decay and finally a long-lived (approximately ns) decay. The fluorescence upconversion signal for the 1S transition shows quite different temporal behavior: a two times slower rise time (approximately 700-1000 fs) and, when the fluorescence upconversion signal has risen to about 20% of its maximum intensity, the signal displays a slight leveling off (bend), followed by a continued rise until the maximum intensity is reached. This bend is well reproducible and power and concentration independent. Simulations show that the bend in the rise is caused by a very fast decay component with a typical time of about 230-430 fs. Considering that the 1S quantum dot excitation is comprised of five exciton substates (F=+/-2, +/-1L, 0L, +/-1U, and 0U), we attribute the disparity in the rise of the bleaching and emission transients to the results from the dynamics of the different excitons involved in respectively the bleaching and fluorescence experiments. More specifically, in transient absorption, population changes of the F=+/-1U excitons are probed, in emission population effects for the F=+/-2 ("dark") and the F=+/-1L ("bright") exciton states are monitored. It is discussed that the fast (approximately 400-500 fs) rise of the bleach recovery is representative of the feeding of the F=+/-1U exciton (by filling of the 1S(e) electron level) and that the slower (approximately 700-1000 fs) feeding of the emissive +/-2, +/-1L excitons is determined by the relaxation of the hole levels within the 1S3/2 fine structure. Finally, the approximately 230-430 fs component, typical of the bend in the fluorescence transient, is attributed to the thermalization of the close-lying +/-2 ("dark") and +/-1L ("bright") excitons.  相似文献

Toxicities of CdSe and CdSe/CdS quantum dots(QDs) synthesized by ultrasound-assisted methods were investigated in vitro and in vivo.Five human cell lines were used to assess the cytotoxicity of as-prepared CdSe and CdSe/CdS by assays of MTT viability, red blood cell hemolysis, flow cytometry, and fluorescence imaging. The results show that these QDs may be cytotoxic by their influence in S and G2 phases in cell cycles. The cytotoxicity of QDs depends on both the physicochemical properties and related to target cells.  相似文献

In this communication, we demonstrate a new approach to sensitization of Ru-polypyridine complexes by using semiconductor nanocrystal quantum dots (NQDs). When mixed in solution, the complexes functionalized by carboxylic groups adsorb onto the surface of the NQDs. Excitation of NQDs by 400 nm light leads to fast, 5 ps hole transfer from the photoexcited NQDs to the surface-adsorbed complexes. This result indicates that Ru complexes can be sensitized by CdSe NQDs, which opens interesting opportunities for designing new types of photocatalytic materials for solar energy conversion applications. These materials will take advantage of broad size-controlled absorption spectra and large extinction coefficients of NQDs as well as the unique property of NQDs to respond to absorption of a single photon by producing multiple electron-hole pairs.  相似文献

Water-soluble CdSe nanoparticles were synthesized using AOT (sodium bis(2-ethylehexyl)-sulfosuccinate) as stabilizer, cadmium acetate and Na2SeSO3 as precursors in aqueous phase. The influence of some key factors, such as reaction time, temperature, concentration and molar ratio of precursors on the optical properties of CdSe nanoparticles was systematically investigated through UV-Vis and PL spectra. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to characterize the crystalline structure of synthesized CdSe nanoparticles. As-prepared CdSe nanoparticles exhibit an apparent quantum confinement effect and typical hexagonal wurtzite structures. Finally, the optimal experimental conditions were obtained.  相似文献

This paper describes the synthesis of core-shell CdSe/CdS quantum dots (QDs) in aqueous solution by a simple photoassisted method. CdSe was prepared from cadmium nitrate and 1,1-dimethylselenourea precursors under illumination for up to 3 h using a pulsed Nd:YAG laser at 532 nm. The effects that the temperature and the laser irradiation process have on the synthesis of CdSe were monitored by a series of experiments using the precursors at a Cd:Se concentration ratio of 4. Upon increasing the temperature (80-140 degrees C), the size of the CdSe QDs increases and the time required for reaching a maximum photoluminescence (PL) is shortened. Although the as-prepared CdSe QDs possess greater quantum yields (up to 0.072%) compared to those obtained by microwave heating (0.016%), they still fluoresce only weakly. After passivation of CdSe (prepared at 80 degrees C) by CdS using thioacetamide as the S source (Se:S concentration ratio of 1) at 80 degrees C for 24 h, the quantum yield of the core-shell CdSe/CdS QDs at 603 nm is 2.4%. Under UV irradiation of CdSe/CdS for 24 h using a 100-W Hg-Xe lamp, the maximum quantum yield of the stable QDs is 60% at 589 nm. A small bandwidth (W1/2 < 35 nm) indicates the narrow size distribution of the as-prepared core-shell CdSe/CdS QDs. This simple photoassisted method also allows the preparation of differently sized (3.7-6.3-nm diameters) core-shell CdSe/CdS QDs that emit in a wide range (from green to red) when excited at 480 nm.  相似文献

Controllable assembly of three-dimensional (3D) superlattices composed of different types of nanoscale objects opens new opportunities for material fabrication. Herein we show the successful assembly of heterogeneous 3D structures from gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and quantum dots (QDs) using DNA encoding. By applying synchrotron-based small-angle X-ray scattering, we found that AuNPs and QDs are positioned in a body-centered cubic lattice, while each particle type, AuNP and QD, is arranged in a simple-cubic manner. Our studies demonstrate a route for assembly of integrated heterogeneous 3D structures from different nano-objects by DNA-encoded interactions.  相似文献

Semiconductor nanocrystal quantum dots (QDs), owing to their unique opto-electronic properties determined by quantum confinement effects, have been the subject of extensive investigations in different areas of science and technology in the past two decades. The electrochemical behaviour of QDs, particularly for CdSe and CdTe nanocrystals, has also been explored, although to a lesser extent compared to the optical properties. Voltammetric measurements can be used to probe the redox levels available for the nanocrystals, which is an invaluable piece of information if these systems are involved in electron transfer processes. Electrochemical data can also foster the interpretation of the spectroscopic properties of QDs, and give insightful information on their chemical composition, dimension, and surface properties. Hence, electrochemical methods constitute in principle an effective tool to probe the quality of QD samples in terms of purity, size dispersion, and surface defects. The scope of this critical review is to discuss the results of electrochemical studies carried out on CdSe and CdTe core and core-shell semiconductor nanocrystals of spherical shape. Examples of emerging or potential applications that exploit electroactive quantum dot-based systems will also be illustrated.  相似文献

In an effort to elucidate the spin (rather than charge) degrees of freedom in colloidal semiconductor nanocrystal quantum dots, we report on a series of static and time-resolved photoluminescence measurements of colloidal CdSe quantum dots in ultrahigh magnetic fields up to 45 T. At low temperatures (1.5-40 K), the steady-state photoluminescence (PL) develops a high degree of circular polarization with applied magnetic field, indicating the presence of spin-polarized excitons. Time-resolved PL studies reveal a marked decrease in radiative exciton lifetime with increasing magnetic field and temperature. Except for an initial burst of unpolarized PL immediately following photoexcitation, high-field time-resolved PL measurements reveal a constant degree of circular polarization throughout the entire exciton lifetime, even in the presence of pronounced exciton transfer via F?rster energy transfer processes.  相似文献
