In this paper we study a class of boundary value problems with impulsive effects. Under some natural assumptions, by using Morse theory in combination with the minimax arguments, we establish some new results on the existence of multiple nontrivial solutions for the problems. Recent results from the literature are improved and extended.  相似文献

We consider the synchronization of a network of linearly coupled and not necessarily identical oscillators. We present an approach to the existence of the synchronization manifold which is based on some results developed by R. Smith for the study of periodic solutions of ODEs. Our framework allows the study of a large class of systems and does not assume that they are small perturbations of linear systems. Moreover, it provides a practical way to compute estimations on the parameters of the system for which generalized synchronization occurs. Additionally, we give a new proof of the main result of R. Smith on invariant manifolds using Wazewski's principle. Several examples of application are presented.  相似文献

For a general one-sided nonautonomous dynamics defined by a sequence of linear operators, we consider the notion of a polynomial dichotomy with respect to a sequence of norms and we characterize it completely in terms of the admissibility of bounded solutions. As a nontrivial application, we establish the robustness of the notion of a nonuniform polynomial dichotomy.  相似文献

In this paper, we present several new results to the classical Floquet theory on the study of differential equations with periodic coefficients. For linear periodic systems, the Floquet exponents can be directly calculated when the coefficient matrices are triangular. Meanwhile, the Floquet exponents are eigenvalues of the integral average of the coefficient matrices when they commute with their antiderivative matrices. For the stability analysis of constant and nontrivial periodic solutions of nonlinear differential equations, we derive a few results based on linearization. We also briefly discuss the properties of Floquet exponents for delay linear periodic systems. To demonstrate the application of these analytical results, we consider a new cholera epidemic model with phage dynamics and seasonality incorporated. We conduct mathematical analysis and numerical simulation to the model with several periodic parameters.  相似文献

Using the theory of fixed point index, we discuss the existence of nontrivial (multiple) solutions of a nonlinear scalar heat equation with nonlocal boundary conditions depending on a positive parameter. Solutions lose positivity as the parameter decreases. For a certain parameter range, not all solutions can be positive but there are positive solutions for certain types of nonlinearity. In this paper, a predator–prey system which based on a modified version of the Leslie–Gower scheme and Holling-type II scheme with impulsive effect are investigated, where all the parameters of the system are time-dependent periodic functions. By using Floquet theory of linear periodic impulsive equation, some conditions for the linear stability of trivial periodic solution and semi-trivial periodic solutions are obtained. It is proved that the system can be permanent if all the trivial and semi-trivial periodic solutions are linearly unstable. We use standard bifurcation theory to show the existence of nontrivial periodic solutions which arise near the semi-trivial periodic solution. As an application, we also examine some special case of the system to confirm our main results.  相似文献

In this paper we provide sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions to multipoint boundary value problems for nonlinear ordinary differential equations. We consider the case where the solution space of the associated linear homogeneous boundary value problem is less than 2. When this solution space is trivial, we establish existence results via the Schauder Fixed Point Theorem. In the resonance case, we use a projection scheme to provide criteria for the solvability of our nonlinear boundary value problem. We accomplish this by analyzing a link between the behavior of the nonlinearity and the solution set of the associated linear homogeneous boundary value problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a predator-prey model which has one prey and two predators with Beddington-DeAngelis functional responses. Firstly, we establish a set of sufficient conditions for the permanence and extinction of species. Secondly, the periodicity of positive solutions is studied. Thirdly, by using Liapunov functions and the continuation theorem in coincidence degree theory, we show the global asymptotic stability of such solutions. For nonautonomous linear equations x=A(t)x, we give a complete characterization of nonuniform exponential dichotomies in terms of strict quadratic Lyapunov functions. Nonuniform exponential dichotomies include as a very special case uniform exponential dichotomies. In particular, we construct explicitly strict Lyapunov functions for each exponential dichotomy. As a nontrivial application, we establish in a simple and direct manner the robustness of nonuniform exponential dichotomies under sufficiently small linear perturbations. In this paper, two existence results for a class of second order periodic boundary value problems with non-smooth potential are obtained. We extend the Castro-Lazer-Thews reduction method to non-smooth functionals, the obtained result is then exploited to prove the existence of a nontrivial solution. In this paper, we study the gaps between zeros of nontrivial solutions of fourth order differential equations subject to some boundary conditions, and establish some sufficient conditions for (2, 2)‐disconjugacy. The results, which cover some boundary value problems in bending of beams, will be proved by making use of a generalization of Hardy's inequality and some Opial and Wirtinger type inequalities. Using the cone theory and the lattice structure, we establish some methods of computation of the topological degree for the nonlinear operators which are not assumed to be cone mappings.
