The reactions of bidentate diimine ligands (L2) with binuclear [Ru(L1)(CO)Cl2]2 complexes [L1 not equal to L2 = 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy), 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (4,4'-Me2bpy), 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (5,5'-Me2bpy), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), 4,7-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (4,7-Me2phen), 5,6-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (5,6-Me2phen), di(2-pyridyl)ketone (dpk), di(2-pyridyl)amine (dpa)] result in cleavage of the dichloride bridge and the formation of cationic [Ru(L1)(L2)(CO)Cl]+ complexes. In addition to spectroscopic characterization, the structures of the [Ru(bpy)(phen)(CO)Cl]+, [Ru(4,4'-Me2bpy)(5,6-Me2phen)(CO)Cl]+ (as two polymorphs), [Ru(4,4'-Me2bpy)(4,7-Me2phen)(CO)Cl]+, [Ru(bpy)(dpa)(CO)Cl]+, [Ru(5,5'-Me2bpy)(dpa)(CO)Cl]+, [Ru(bpy)(dpk)(CO)Cl]+, and [Ru(4,4'-Me2bpy)(dpk)(CO)Cl]+ cations were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. In each case, the structurally characterized complex had the carbonyl ligand trans to a nitrogen from the incoming diimine ligand, these complexes corresponding to the main isomers isolated from the reaction mixtures. The synthesis of [Ru(4,4'-Me2bpy)(5,6-Me2bpy)(CO)(NO3)]+ from [Ru(4,4'-Me2bpy)(5,6-Me2bpy)(CO)Cl]+ and AgNO3 demonstrates that exchange of the chloro ligand can be achieved.  相似文献

The reactions of bidentate diimine ligands (L2) with cationic bis(diimine)[Ru(L)(L1)(CO)Cl]+ complexes (L, L1, L2 are dissimilar diimine ligands), in the presence of trimethylamine-N-oxide (Me3NO) as a decarbonylation reagent, lead to the formation of heteroleptic tris(diimine) ruthenium(II) complexes, [Ru(L)(L1)(L2)]2+. Typically isolated as hexafluorophosphate or perchlorate salts, these complexes were characterised by UV-visible, infrared and mass spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, microanalyses and NMR spectroscopy. Single crystal X-ray studies have elucidated the structures of K[Ru(bpy)(phen)(4,4'-Me(2)bpy)](PF(6))(3).1/2H(2)O, [Ru(bpy)(5,6-Me(2)phen)(Hdpa)](ClO(4))(2), [Ru(bpy)(phen)(5,6-Me(2)phen)](ClO(4))(2), [Ru(bpy)(5,6'-Me(2)phen)(4,4'-Me(2)bpy)](PF(6))(2).EtOH, [Ru(4,4'-Me(2)bpy)(phen)(Hdpa)](PF(6))(2).MeOH and [Ru(bpy)(4,4'-Me(2)bpy)(Hdpa)](ClO(4))(2).1/2Hdpa (where Hdpa is di(2-pyridyl)amine). A novel feature of the first complex is the presence of a dinuclear anionic adduct, [K(2)(PF(6))(6)](4-), in which the two potassium centres are bridged by two fluorides from different hexafluorophosphate ions forming a K(2)F(2) bridging unit and by two KFPFK bridging moieties.  相似文献

Seven useful mixed-ligand complexes in the form of [Ir(terpy)(L)Cl]2+ were prepared and their spectroscopic and electrochemical properties were investigated. The ligands used were terpy = 2,2':6',2'-terpyridine, L = 2,2'-bipyridine, 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine, 4,4'-diphenyl-2,2'-bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline, 5-phenyl-1,10-phenanthroline, 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline, 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine. Synthetic methods were developed by a sequential ligand-replacement which occurred in the reaction vessel using a microwave oven. All complexes showed that LUMOs are based on the pi-system contribution of the terpyridine ligand for [Ir(terpy)(bpy)Cl]2+, [Ir(terpy)(dmbpy)Cl]2+, [Ir(terpy)(dpbpy)Cl]2+, [Ir(terpy)(phen)Cl]2+, [Ir(terpy)(dpphen)Cl]2+ and [Ir(terpy)(phphen)Cl]2+. On the other hand, the LUMO in the [Ir(terpy)(bppz)Cl]2+ complex is localized on the pi-system of the bppz ligand, whereas the HOMOs in the iridium complexes are localized on the terpyridine ligand. It was found that Ir(terpy)(L)Cl emits in a fluid solution at room temperature. The ancillary ligands, such as terpy and bpy, have been explored to extend the lifetime of the triplet 3(pi-pi') excited states of Ir(III) terpyridine complexes. Ir(III) terpyridine units with an electron donor (dmbpy) or electron acceptor substituents (terpy, dpbpy, phphen, dpphen and bppz) are found to decrease the energy of the 3LC states for use as photosensitizer molecular components in supramolecular devices. The spectroscopic and electrochemical details are also reported herein.  相似文献

The kinetics and mechanisms of the reactions of 3-(4-X)-phenyl-1,5-diphenyl-verdazyl radicals where X = Cl, H, CH3 and CH3O with [Co(N-N)3]3+, N-N = 2,2'-bipyridyl (bpy), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and 4,7-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (4,7-Me2phen), have been investigated in acetonitrile at 25 degrees C and ionic strength 0.05 mol dm(-3)(nC4H9)4NPF6 using stopped flow spectrophotometry. In all cases, transfer of one electron from the radical takes place resulting in the production of a Co(II) species and a verdazylium cation. The electron transfer occurs by an outer-sphere mechanism and the reactions appear to be consistent with Marcus theory. The self-exchange rate constants for the verdazyl-verdazylium cation have been estimated and are of the order of 3.4(+/-1.9) x 10(7) dm(3) mol(-1) s(-1). This rate constant is consistent with the fact that the reactions of [Ru(bpy)3]3+ with verdazyl radicals are too rapid to be investigated by stopped flow spectrophotometry.  相似文献

Hexafluorophosphate salts of mononuclear complexes [Ru(II)Cl(L)(terpy)]+ (L = dmbpy (1); dpbpy (2), sambpy (3), and dpp (7), and binuclear complexes [Ru(II)2Cl2(dpp)(terpy)2]2+ (8) and [Ir(III)Ru(II)Cl2(dpp)(terpy)2]3+ (9) were prepared and characterized. Abbreviations of the ligands are bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, dmbpy = 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine, dpbpy = 4,4'-diphenyl-2,2'-bipyridine, dpp = 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine, sambpy = 4,4'-bis((S)-(+)-alpha-1-phenylethylamido)-2,2'-bipyridine, and terpy = 2,2':6',2'-terpyridine. The absorption spectra of 8 and 9 are dominated by ligand-centered bands in the UV region and by metal-to-ligand charge-transfer bands in the visible region. The details of their spectroscopic and electrochemical properties were investigated. In both binuclear complexes, it has been found that the HOMO is based on the Ru metal, and LUMO is dpp-based. [Ir(III)Ru(II)Cl2(dpp)(terpy)2]3+, indicating intense emission at room temperature, and a lifetime of 154 ns. The long lifetime of this bimetallic chromophore makes it a useful component in the design of supramolecular complexes.  相似文献

We report the synthesis, nucleic acid binding and cytotoxicity of the complexes [Ru(terpy)(Me2bpy)Cl]+, [Ru(terpy)(phen)Cl]+ and dinuclear [{Ru(terpy)Cl}2(??-bbn)]2+ {where Me2bpy = 4,4??-dimethyl-2,2??-bipyridine; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline; and bbn = bis[4(4??-methyl-2,2??-bipyridyl)]-1,n-alkane, with n = 7, 10, 12, 14}. The complexes were isolated from the reaction of the [Ru(terpy)Cl3] precursor with the respective bidentate and di-bidentate bridging ligands. The time-course UV?CVisible spectroscopy of the reaction of the mono- and dinuclear complexes with guanosine 5-monophosphate (GMP) showed the movement of the metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) band to lower wavelengths, accompanied by a hypochromism effect. The formation of the aqua complex and phosphate-bound intermediates in the reaction were detected by the time-course 1H NMR and 31P NMR experiments, which also demonstrated that the complex bound to the N7 guanine was the major product. The UV?CVisible and 1H NMR studies showed no evidence of the interaction of the complexes with both adenosine 5-monophosphate (AMP) and cytidine 5-monophosphate (CMP). Cytotoxicity studies of these complexes against a murine leukemia L1210 cell line revealed that the dinuclear [{Ru(terpy)Cl}2(??-bbn)]2+ complexes were significantly more cytotoxic than mononuclear [Ru(terpy)(Me2bpy)Cl]+. The [{Ru(terpy)Cl}2(??-bb14)]2+ complex appeared to be the most active (IC50 = 4.2 ??M).  相似文献

Reactions between the Os(VI)-nitrido complexes, [OsVI(L2)(Cl)3(N)] (L2 = 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) ([1]), 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (Me2bpy), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), and 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (Ph2phen)), and bis-(triphenylphosphoranylidene)ammonium azide (PPNN3) in dry CH3CN at 60 degrees C under N2 give the corresponding Os(IV)-azidoimido complexes, [OsIV(L2)(Cl)3(NN3)]- (L2 = bpy = [2]-, L2 = Me2bpy = [3]-, L2 = phen = [4]-, and L2 = Ph2phen = [5]-) as their PPN+ salts. The formulation of the N42- ligand has been substantiated by 15N-labeling, IR, and 15N NMR measurements. Hydroxylation of [2]- at Nalpha with O<--NMe3.3H2O occurs to give the Os(IV)-azidohydroxoamido complex, [OsIV(bpy)(Cl)3(N(OH)N3)] ([6]), which, when deprotonated, undergoes dinitrogen elimination to give the Os(II)-dinitrogen oxide complex, [OsII(bpy)(Cl)3(N2O)]- ([7]-). They are the first well-characterized examples of each kind of complex for Os.  相似文献

The tetradentate ligands, 2,2'-(1H-pyrazole-3,5-diyl)bis(4- methylpyridine) (4,4'-Me2dppzH), 2,2'-(1H-pyrazole-3,5-diyl)bis(6-methylpyridine) (6,6'-Me2dppzH), 3,5-di(pyrid-2-yl)pyrazole (dppzH), and dipyridyloxadiazole (dpo) react with either Ru(trpy)Cl3 or trans-Ru(trpy)Cl2(NCCH3), where trpy is 2,2',2'-terpyridine, to form a variety of Ru(II) complexes. Among these are the symmetrical chloro-bridged Ru(II) dimer and the "in" and "out" geometric isomers of the monometallic Ru(II) containing species where "in" and "out" refer to the orientation of the Ru-Cl vector relative to the centroid of the ligand backbone. Thirteen complexes were prepared and painstakingly purified by careful recrystallization and/or exhaustive column chromatography. These complexes were characterized by 1H and 13C NMR, electronic absorption, and infrared spectroscopy. Additionally, [Ru2(tryp)2(6,6'-Me2dppz)mu-Cl](BF4)2 (3b(BF4)2), [Ru2(trpy)2(4,4'-Me2dppz)mu-Cl](PF6)2.0.5MeOH (3c), [Ru2(trpy)2(6,6'-Me2dppz)(CH2C(O)CH3)](PF6)2.0.5(CH3)2CO (9b), "in"-[Ru(trpy)(4,4'-Me2dppz)Cl](PF6).(CH3)2CO (1c), and "out"-[Ru(trpy)(dpo)Cl](PF6).(CH3)2CO (2d) were characterized by X-ray crystallography. Several ligand substitution reactions were attempted. For example, [Ru2(trpy)2(6,6'-Me2dppz)mu-Cl](BF4)2 (3b) was reacted with hydroxide ion to produce [Ru2(trpy)2(6,6'-Me2dppz)mu-OH](PF6)2 (6b). Complex 6b reacts with benzyl bromide to produce [Ru2(trpy)2(6,6'-Me2dppz)mu-Br](PF6)2 (7b) or with (CH3)3Sil to produce [Ru2(trpy)2(6,6'-Me2dppz)mu-I](PF6)2 (8b). of 6b with acetone forms the methyl enolate complex [Ru2(trpy)2(6,6'-Me2dppz)(CH2COCH3)](PF6)2 (9b) while, analogously to a Cannizarro reaction, the reaction with benzaldehyde forms the bridging benzoate complex [Ru2(trpy)2(6,6'-Me2dppz)(C6H4CO2)](PF6)2 (11b). The bridging azide complex [Ru2(trpy)2(6,6'-Me2dppz)mu-N3](PF6)2 (10b) is formed by reaction of 6b with (CH3)3-SiN3. Additionally, the chloride ligands of the monometallic complexes of "in"-[Ru(trpy)(dpo)Cl](PF6) (1d), "in"-[Ru(trpy)(4,4'-Me2dpo)Cl](PF6)] (1e), and "out"-[Ru(trpy)(dpo)Cl](PF6) (2d) were substituted with water to form their respective aqua complexes, 4d, 4e, and 5d. All of the complexes exhibit broad unsymmetrial absorption bands in the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. The dimetallic complexes 3b and 3c exhibit two, 1e- reversible oxidation waves at +0.72 and +1.15 V, and at +0.64 and +1.13 V, respectively. These complexes were not emissive.  相似文献

The photo-hydrogen-evolving activity (activity to enhance the photochemical EDTA-reduction of water into molecular hydrogen) was evaluated for three different Ru(II)Pt(II) dimers with a general formula of [(bpy)2Ru(micro-bridge)PtCl2]2+(bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine; bridge = 4,4'-bis(N-(3-aminopropyl)carbamoyl)-2,2'-bipyridine (L1), 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine (L2), and 4,4'-bis(N-(4-pyridyl)methylcarbamoyl)-2,2'-bipyridine (L3); EDTA = ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt). A new Ru(II)Pt(II) complex, [(bpy)2Ru(micro-L3)PtCl2]2+, was synthesized and characterized. It was confirmed that all three compounds are ineffective towards photochemical H2 production. In each case, an acetate-buffer solution (pH = 5) containing the Ru(II)Pt(II) dimer and EDTA was photolysed using a 350-W Xe lamp under an Ar atmosphere, during which the amount of H2 evolved was analysed by gas chromatography. Additional photolysis experiments were carried out by adding [Ru(bpy)3]2+ and methylviologen (N,N'-dimethyl-4,4'-bipyridinium) to the photolysis solutions described above to test the H2-evolving activity of the Pt(II) unit involved in these Ru(II)Pt(II) dimers. As a result, the Pt(II) units involved in the L1 and L2 compounds were found to be active as an H2-evolving catalyst, while that of the L3 compound was found to show no activity at all. The extent of intramolecular electron-transfer quenching from the 3MLCT excited state of the [Ru(bpy)3]2+ derivative to the tethering Pt(II) catalyst centre was investigated by comparison of the luminescence spectra of these compounds, together with the related compounds. The results showed that the quenching of the 3MLCT luminescence is not at all enhanced in either the L1 or the L3 compounds. On the other hand, the L2 compound is strongly quenched as previously reported. In addition to the above studies, the H2-evolving activity of some Pt(II) monomers, cis-PtCl2(NH3)2, PtCl2(en)(en = ethylenediamine), cis-PtCl2(4-methylpyridine)2, PtCl2(2,2'-bipyrimidine), PtCl2(4,4'-dicarboxy-2,2'-bipyridine), and [PtCl(terpy)]+(terpy = 2,2':6',2'-terpyridine), were similarly investigated in the presence of EDTA, [Ru(bpy)3]2+ and methylviologen, since they were regarded as structural analogues of the Pt(II) units involved in the L1-L3 compounds. The compounds having a cis-Pt(II)Cl2 unit were generally found to show high H2-evolving activity. This was interpreted in terms of the ligation of negatively charged chloride anions leading to the destabilization of the Pt(II) dz2 orbital responsible for the hydrogenic activation. Importantly, cis-PtCl2(4-methylpyridine)2 exhibited relatively high activity as an H2-evolving catalyst, suggesting the importance of the flexible rotation of the pyridyl ligands for efficient hydrogenic activation at the axial site of the Pt(II) ion. The DFT calculations also showed the validity of the structure-activity relationship discussed above for the L3 compound.  相似文献

This study documents the first detailed investigation into the relationship between molecular structure and biological activity of platinum(II) complexes containing methylated derivatives of 1,10-phenanthroline (phen). A series of square planar platinum(II) compounds incorporating methylated derivatives of phen, 4-methyl-1,10-phenanthroline (4-Mephen), 5-methyl-1,10-phenanthroline (5-Mephen), 4,7-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (4,7-Me2phen), 5,6-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (5,6-Me2phen) and 3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (3,4,7,8-Me4phen) were synthesised and the relationship between their structure and biological activity investigated. The biological activity of these compounds was quantified using the in vitro cytotoxicity assay against the L1210 Murine leukaemia cell line. Large variation in cytotoxicities with different methylation was observed. The 5- and 5,6-methylated derivatives of phen displayed a greater biological activity, with IC50 values of 2.8 +/- 0.8 microM and 1.5 +/- 0.3 microM respectively, compared with the phen compound, with an IC50 value of 9.7 +/- 0.3 microM, while all the others were inactive with IC50 values over 50 microM. Binding constants were determined using circular dichroism spectroscopy (CD) and induced circular dichroism (ICD). ICD was used to highlight any differences in the spectra. Viscometry studies and linear dichroism (LD) experiments indicate that the platinum(II) complexes intercalate although for [Pt(en)(4-Mephen)]Cl2 and [Pt(en)(4,7-Me2phen)]Cl2 this mode of binding appears to be concentration dependent. The binding of the platinum(II) complexes to the oligonucleotide d(GTCGAC)2 was studied using two-dimensional 1H NMR spectroscopy. The addition of each metal complex to the hexamer d(GTCGAC)2 produced upfield shifts of the metal complex resonances, characteristic of intercalation. Through the observation of NOE cross-peaks, two-dimensional NMR studies provided insight into the site and groove preferences of these compounds when binding to DNA.  相似文献

The alpha-diimine Fe2+ complexes, [Fe(phen)3]2+, [Fe(bpy)3]2+, and [Fe(terpy)2]2+, (phen: 1,10-phenanthroline, bpy: 2,2'-bipyridyl, terpy: alpha,alpha',alpha'-tripyridine) were intercalated into zirconium dihydrogenphosphate phosphate dihydrate (gamma-zirconium phosphate, gamma-ZrP), Zr(PO4)(H2PO4).2H2O. The rate of the intercalation, the molar ratio of Fe to Zr, was found to be 3.82-7.76%. M?ssbauer spectra indicated that one part of [Fe(phen)3]2+ and [Fe(bpy)3]2+ changed from a low-spin Fe2+ to high-spin Fe2+ state on intercalation, but [Fe(terpy)2]2+ did not change in chemical state. The lattice dynamics of the complexes and the intercalation compounds were investigated in terms of the temperature dependence of the area intensity on the M?ssbauer spectra. A linear relationship was established for all the complex salts and the intercalation compounds investigated between the ln[A(T)/A(82)] and absolute temperature, T, where A(T) and A(82) show the intensities of a doublet at T and 82 K of the M?ssbauer spectra, respectively. From the slope of the linear relation, the theta2M values, which were derived based on the Debye approximation of lattice vibration, were evaluated for the complex salts and the intercalation compounds. The Fe2+ complexes showed theta2M values of 1.27 to 2.32 x 10(6), whereas the intercalation compounds showed very similar values to each other, ranging from 2.19 to 2.39 x 10(6), irrespective of different alpha-diimine ligands. The results were explained in terms of the characteristic layered structure of zirconium phosphate, and by the tight bond between the alpha-diimine Fe2+ complexes and the host gamma-ZrP.  相似文献

Chloro complexes [RuCl(N-N)P3]BPh4 (1-3) [N-N = 2,2'-bipyridine, bpy; 1,10-phenanthroline, phen; 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine, 5,5'-Me2bpy; P = P(OEt)3, PPh(OEt)2 and PPh2OEt] were prepared by allowing the [RuCl4(N-N)].H2O compounds to react with an excess of phosphite in ethanol. The bis(bipyridine) [RuCl(bpy)2[P(OEt)3]]BPh4 (7) complex was also prepared by reacting RuCl2(bpy)2.2H2O with phosphite and ethanol. Treatment of the chloro complexes 1-3 and 7 with NaBH4 yielded the hydride [RuH(N-N)P3]BPh4 (4-6) and [RuH(bpy)2P]BPh4 (8) derivatives, which were characterized spectroscopically and by the X-ray crystal structure determination of [RuH(bpy)[P(OEt)3]3]BPh4 (4a). Protonation reaction of the new hydrides with Br?nsted acid was studied and led to dicationic [Ru(eta2-H2)(N-N)P3]2+ (9, 10) and [Ru(eta(2-H2)(bpy)2P]2+ (11) dihydrogen derivatives. The presence of the eta2-H2 ligand was indicated by a short T(1 min) value and by the measurements of the J(HD) in the [Ru](eta2-HD) isotopomers. From T(1 min) and J(HD) values the H-H distances of the dihydrogen complexes were also calculated. A series of ruthenium complexes, [RuL(N-N)P3](BPh4)2 and [RuL(bpy)2P](BPh4)2 (P = P(OEt)3; L = H2O, CO, 4-CH3C6H4NC, CH3CN, 4-CH3C6H4CN, PPh(OEt)2], was prepared by substituting the labile eta2-H2 ligand in the 9, 10, 11 derivatives. The reactions of the new hydrides 4-6 and 8 with both mono- and bis(aryldiazonium) cations were studied and led to aryldiazene [Ru(C6H5N=NH)(N-N)P3](BPh4)2 (19, 21), [[Ru(N-N)P3]2(mu-4,4'-NH=NC6H4-C6H4N=NH)](BPh4)4 (20), and [Ru(C6H5N=NH)(bpy)2P](BPh4)2 (22) derivatives. Also the heteroallenes CO2 and CS2 reacted with [RuH(bpy)2P]BPh4, yielding the formato [Ru[eta1-OC(H)=O](bpy)2P]BPh4 and dithioformato [Ru[eta1-SC(H)=S](bpy)2P]BPh4 derivatives.  相似文献

Photophysical properties such as absorption and emission spectra, lifetimes, and redox potentials of eight ruthenium complexes, Ru(LL)2(MebpyCOOH)2+, where LL represents bpy, phen, Me2bpy, Me4bpy, (MeO)2bpy, (EtO)2bpy, Cl2bpy, and NO2phen, have been measured. The acid dissociation constants of ground and excited states have been determined. The ground-state pKa values were obtained from the pH dependence of the complex absorbance changes. The excited-state pKa* values were extracted from the emission titration curve and corrected for the excited-state lifetime of both protonated and deprotonated species. The largest DeltapKa, pKa*-pKa, found for Ru(Me2bpy)2(MebpyCOOH)2+ and Ru(Me4bpy)2(MebpyCOOH)2+ of 1.7 indicate that MebpyCOOH gains most of the MLCT excited-state electron. The big negative DeltapKa found for Ru(Cl2bpy)2(MebpyCOOH)2+, -4.2, clearly indicates the metal-to-ligand charge transfer to the Cl2bpy ligands.  相似文献

Reactions of hydride complexes of ruthenium(II) with hydride acceptors have been examined for Ru(terpy)(bpy)H(+), Ru(terpy)(dmb)H(+), and Ru(η(6)-C(6)Me(6))(bpy)(H)(+) in aqueous media at 25 °C (terpy = 2,2';6',2'-terpyridine, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, dmb = 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine). The acceptors include CO(2), CO, CH(2)O, and H(3)O(+). CO reacts with Ru(terpy)(dmb)H(+) with a rate constant of 1.2 (0.2) × 10(1) M(-1) s(-1), but for Ru(η(6)-C(6)Me(6))(bpy)(H)(+), the reaction was very slow, k ≤ 0.1 M(-1) s(-1). Ru(terpy)(bpy)H(+) and Ru(η(6)-C(6)Me(6))(bpy)(H)(+) react with CH(2)O with rate constants of (6 ± 4) × 10(6) and 1.1 × 10(3) M(-1) s(-1), respectively. The reaction of Ru(η(6)-C(6)Me(6))(bpy)(H)(+) with acid exhibits straightforward, second-order kinetics, with the rate proportional to [Ru(η(6)-C(6)Me(6))(bpy)(H)(+)] and [H(3)O(+)] and k = 2.2 × 10(1) M(-1) s(-1) (μ = 0.1 M, Na(2)SO(4) medium). However, for the case of Ru(terpy)(bpy)H(+), the protonation step is very rapid, and only the formation of the product Ru(terpy)(bpy)(H(2)O)(2+) (presumably via a dihydrogen or dihydride complex) is observed with a k(obs) of ca. 4 s(-1). The hydricities of HCO(2)(-), HCO(-), and H(3)CO(-) in water are estimated as +1.48, -0.76, and +1.57 eV/molecule (+34, -17.5, +36 kcal/mol), respectively. Theoretical studies of the reactions with CO(2) reveal a "product-like" transition state with short C-H and long M-H distances. (Reactant) Ru-H stretched 0.68 ?; (product) C-H stretched only 0.04 ?. The role of water solvent was explored by including one, two, or three water molecules in the calculation.  相似文献

We study the electrochemical, spectroscopic, and photocatalytic properties of a series of Ru(II)-Re(I) binuclear complexes linked by bridging ligands 1,3-bis(4'-methyl-[2,2']bipyridinyl-4-yl)propan-2-ol (bpyC3bpy) and 4-methyl-4'-[1,10]phenanthroline-[5,6-d]imidazol-2-yl)bipyridine (mfibpy) and a tetranuclear complex in which three [Re(CO)3Cl] moieties are coordinated to the central Ru using the bpyC3bpy ligands. In the bpyC3bpy binuclear complexes, 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (dmb) and 4,4'-bis(trifluoromethyl)-2,2'-bipyridine ({CF3}2bpy), as well as 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy), were used as peripheral ligands on the Ru moiety. Greatly improved photocatalytic activities were obtained only in the cases of [Ru{bpyC3bpyRe(CO)3Cl}3]2+ (RuRe3) and the binuclear complex [(dmb)2Ru(bpyC3bpy)Re(CO)3Cl]2+ (d2Ru-Re), while photocatalytic responses were extended further into the visible region. The excited state of ruthenium in all Ru-Re complexes was efficiently quenched by 1-benzyl-1,4-dihydronicotinamide (BNAH). Following reductive quenching in the case of d2Ru-Re, generation of the one-electron-reduced (OER) species, for which the added electron resides on the Ru-bound bpy end of the bridging ligand bpyC3bpy, was confirmed by transient absorption spectroscopy. The reduced Re moiety was produced via a relatively slow intramolecular electron transfer, from the reduced Ru-bound bpy to the Re site, occurring at an exchange rate (DeltaG approximately 0). Electron transfer need not be rapid, since the rate-determining process is reduction of CO2 with the OER species of the Re site. Comparison of these results with those for other bimetallic systems gives us more general architectural pointers for constructing supramolecular photocatalysts for CO2 reduction.  相似文献

[2]Rotaxanes based on the 1,2-bis(pyridinium)ethane subset[24]crown-8 ether motif were prepared that contain a terminal terpyridine group for coordination to a transition-metal ion. These rotaxane ligands were utilized in the preparation of a series of heteroleptic [Ru(terpy)(terpy-rotaxane)]2+ complexes. The compounds were characterized by 1D and 2D 1H NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, and high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The effect of using a rotaxane as a ligand was probed by UV/Vis/NIR absorption and emission spectroscopy of the Ru(II) complexes. In contrast with the parent [Ru(terpy)(2)]2+ complex, at room temperature the examined complexes exhibit a luminescence band in the near infrared region and a relatively long lived triplet metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (3MLCT) excited state, owing to the presence of strong-electron-acceptor pyridinium substituents on one of the two terpy ligands. Visible-light excitation of the Ru-based chromophore in acetonitrile at room temperature causes an electron transfer to the covalently linked 4,4'-bipyridinium unit and the quenching of the MLCT luminescence. The 3MLCT excited state, however, is not quenched at all in rigid matrix at 77 K. The rotaxane structure was found to affect the absorption and luminescence properties of the complexes. In particular, when a crown ether surrounds the cationic axle, the photoinduced electron-transfer process is slowed down by a factor from 2 to 3. Such features, together with the synthetic and structural advantages offered by [Ru(terpy)2]2+-type complexes compared to, for example, [Ru(bpy)3]2+-type compounds, render these rotaxane-metal complexes promising candidates for the construction of photochemical molecular devices with a wire-type structure.  相似文献

Reaction of the complexes Ru(CO)2Cl2L [L = 2,2′-bipyridyl (bpy) or 1,10-phenanthroline (phen)] with trifluoromethanesulphonic acid under carefully controlled conditions yields Ru[cis-(CO)2] [cis-(O3SCF3)2] (bidentate complexes. From reactions of the trifluoromethanesulphonates with the appropriate bidentate ligands, the new complexes [cis-Ru(CO)2-L(L′)]2+ (L as above; L′ = 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridyl or 4,4′-diisopropyl-2,2′-bipyridyl) as well as the known [cis-Ru(CO)2L2]2+ and [cis-Ru(CO)2bpy(phen)]2+ have been prepared.  相似文献

Two series of new complexes, [Ru(phen)2L]2+ and [RuL3]2+, where phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, and L denotes imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline (IP) or 2-(4-R-phenyl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline(PIP, R = H; HOP, R = –OH; MOP, R = –OMe; DMNP, R = NMe2; CLP, R = Cl; NOP, R = NO2), were synthesized and characterized. Their binding to calf thymus DNA was investigated using electronic absorption and emission spectroscopy. [Ru(IP)3]2+ and each [Ru(phen)2 L]2+ showed dramatic absorption hypochromism and bathochromicity, as well as steady-state emission intensity and excited-state lifetime enhancements {except nonluminescent [Ru(phen)2NOP]2+} associated with the presence of DNA, inferring that they bind to DNA by intercalation. These phenomena were not observed for [RuL3]2+ type complexes (except L = IP), indicating that they bind to DNA at most through electrostatic interactions.  相似文献

Mixed ligand complexes of ruthenium(II), [Ru(itpy)(bpy)Cl]ClO(4)1, [Ru(itpy)(phen)Cl]ClO(4)2, [Ru(bitpy)(bpy)Cl]ClO(4)3 and [Ru(bitpy)(phen)Cl]ClO(4)4 have been synthesized and characterized. Complex 3 has also been characterized crystallographically. These complexes exhibit photolability of the Ru-Cl bond. Upon irradiation at 440 nm in the presence of nucleosides and nucleotides the complexes exchange chloride for the nucleoside or nucleotide. The photolability of the Ru-Cl bond depends on the nature of the substituent in the tridentate tpy ligand. Photolysis of the complexes in the presence of a nucleoside or nucleotide also produces 8-oxoguanine due to the oxidation of guanine by the excited states of the complexes. These four complexes exhibit photonuclease properties and bring about the cleavage of plasmid DNA when irradiated at 440 nm. These complexes have been found to be toxic towards NIH 3T3 cells under photolytic conditions.  相似文献
