Heat generation by viscous dissipation in a dilute suspension of single-domain ferromagnetic particles in a rotating magnetic field is analyzed by assuming that the suspended particles have a high magnetic rigidity. The problem is solved by using a kinetic approach based on a rotational diffusion equation. Behavior of specific loss power (SLP) as a function of field strength H and frequency ω is examined at constant temperature. SLP increases as either of these parameters squared when the other is constant, eventually approaching a saturation value. The function SLP(H, ω) can be used to determine optimal and admissible ranges of magnetically induced heating.  相似文献

Water suspension of nanoparticles was studied by ultrasound spectroscopy. Nanoparticles have a core-shell structure with magnetic core Fe3O4 and surfactant shells. The surface of magnetic particles was coated with oleate sodium as the primary layer and polyethylene glycol as the secondary layer. The acoustic properties of suspensions, such as velocity and attenuation of ultrasonic waves, have been measured. From experimental data mechanical properties have been determined. Adiabatic compressibility of nanoparticles suspension decreased with increase of temperature. The changes of ultrasonic wave attenuation under the influence of the external magnetic field, show that magnetic liquids with high concentration of magnetic material (despite two surfactant shells) show tendency to aggregate.  相似文献

In view of the recent interest regarding nematic liquid crystals with a nanoparticle suspension, we investigate the director dynamics of a nematic matrix in the perspective of a soliton framework. The nematic liquid crystal is dispersed with ferromagnetic nanoparticles in order to enhance the director activity associated with the improved magnetization of the ferronematic matrix. The free energy density of the nematic matrix is deduced to be the Ginzburg–Landau (GL) equation for the director reorientation. We obtain a series of localized solutions for the GL equation, and also the dynamics is expressed in terms of the soliton evolution for the director by using the standard Hirota bilinearization procedure.  相似文献

It is found that the dependence of the magnetic nanoparticle agglomerate length in a magnetic fluid on the applied magnetic field has three characteristic segments: a substantial increase in the agglomerate length with the magnetic field in the range of weak fields, a segment with an insignificant increase in the average length of agglomerates upon an increase in the field, and a sharp increase in the agglomerate length with a further increase in the field. It is shown that the agglomerate length increases in the range of strong magnetic fields due to a decrease in the spacing between adjacent agglomerates down to their complete coalescence. The total number of agglomerates decreases thereby.  相似文献

Chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) has become a primary planarization technique required for the manufacture of a computer hard disk substrate. In CMP, erosive wear, which is regarded as one of the wear mechanisms underlying the interaction between the abrasive particles and polished surfaces, can occur when materials are removed by the surface collision of particles which are carried by a fluid medium. A fundamental understanding of the process in which nanoparticles impact on the surface of the nickel-phosphorous (Ni-P) coating plated on the computer hard disk substrate is important to the control and preventing of surface defects during CMP. In this study, a cylindrical liquid jet containing de-ionized water and SiO2 nanoparticles impacts obliquely on the surface of Ni-P coating at a speed of 10 m/s. Microscopic examinations of the impacted surface are performed using a high resolution transmission electron microscope, an atomic force microscope, etc. Experimental results indicate that craters and scratches in the surface have taken place after nanoparticle impacts, and crystal grains in nano-scale and an element phosphorus concentration can be found in the sub-surface layer of the impacted surface.  相似文献

The investigation of a sizable thermal enhancement of magnetization is put forward for uniaxial ferromagnetic nanoparticles that are placed in a rotating magnetic field. We elucidate the nature of this phenomenon and evaluate the resonant frequency dependence of the induced magnetization. Moreover, we reveal the role of magnetic dipolar interactions, point out potential applications, and reason the feasibility of an experimental observation of this effect.  相似文献

This paper deals with the study of the velocity and the attenuation of an acoustic wave propagating inside a cylindrical elastic tube filled with a viscous liquid. A theory describing the propagation of the axisymmetrical modes in such waveguides is presented, with special attention given to the absorption produced by the viscous mechanisms in the liquid. One of these mechanisms is related to the momentum transfer between the compression and rarefaction regions of a propagating wave. The other viscous mechanism is due to the momentum transport inside the viscous boundary layer, close to the tube wall. Numerical calculations were carried out to investigate the influence of different parameters (frequency, tube radii, viscosity coefficient) on the propagation of acoustic waves.  相似文献

Theoretical analysis of sound wave propagation in structures indicates considerable amplitude reduction during transmission through a bent joint, while some build-up can be observed in front of the bend. Every type of transmitted wave (longitudinal and flexural in plane frames) is found to combine with other forms of sound propagation as a result of the deflection of the axis of the wave guide. The screening effect of the bend, in solids with arbitrary viscoelastic properties, is evident even under highly simplified assumptions, such as compatibility and equilibrium. By solving several practical problems, the attenuation due to folding of the structure is compared to the damping effect of the material, with the conclusion that the former contribution is the larger of the two. A pair of examples of insulation analysis of structures is worked out, and the results yield the particle velocity—the first step in determining the radiation pattern. The influence of dense columns in walls, of beams in plates, and of coupling effects in bent structures are examined.  相似文献

We examine manipulating the electromagnetic (EM) wave with an external static magnetic field (ESMF) taking advantage of the versatility of the magnetic photonic crystal (PC). The effect of a nonuniform ESMF on the permeability of the constituent magnetic material in the PC is demonstrated to create a gradient of the effective optical index in the crystal, leading to the focusing of the EM wave, with a magnetically tunable focal length, focused waist radius, and the intensity at the focus.  相似文献

From the experimental investigation of sound propagation in a gaseous discharge, it is established that, in a stationary diffusive discharge in nitrogen, sound amplification takes place according to the linear theory, whereas a sharp transverse constriction of the discharge leads to a sharp, jump-like increase in the amplification factor because of the steep dependence of the relaxation constant of a vibrationally excited molecule on the gas temperature. This result agrees well with the nonlinear theory of sound amplification in a nonequilibrium molecular gas. It is shown that the introduction of oxygen in the nitrogen discharge leads to an increase in the sound amplification factor in the plasma, because the constant of the vibrational relaxation of an excited nitrogen molecule by oxygen is two orders of magnitude greater than the constant of relaxation of nitrogen by nitrogen.  相似文献

We study tunneling of the magnetic moment in a particle that has full rotational freedom. Exact energy levels are obtained and the ground-state magnetic moment is computed for a symmetric rotor. The effect of mechanical freedom on spin tunneling manifests itself in a strong dependence of the magnetic moment on the moments of inertia of the rotor. The energy of the particle exhibits quantum phase transitions between states with different values of the magnetic moment. Particles of various shapes are investigated and the quantum phase diagram is obtained.  相似文献

Acoustic wave propagation in a composite of water with embedded double-layered silicone resin/silver rods is considered. Approximate values of effective dynamical constitutive parameters are obtained. Frequency ranges of simultaneous negative constitutive parameters are found. Localized surface states on the interface between metamaterial and “normal” material are found. The Doppler effect in metamaterial is considered. The presence of anomalous modes is shown.  相似文献

The effective viscous inertia properties exhibited by suspensions in the presence of oscillatory wave processes are considered. A cell model of a concentrated suspension is used to derive the dependence for the complex density, whose real and imaginary parts characterize the effective inertia and the bulk viscous resistance to oscillatory motion, respectively. From hydrodynamic models of low-frequency and high-frequency translatory oscillations of spherical inclusions in the host liquid, estimates are obtained for the internal dynamic parameters of the suspension, namely, the apparent mass factor and the inclusion relaxation time, which specify the general formulas for the complex density.  相似文献

Linearized equations governing the thermo-mechanical behaviour of a binary mixture of inviscid fluids are derived. Restrictions which are sufficient for the equations to have a unique solution are imposed on some of the material constants. The propagation of plane harmonic waves of small amplitude in the mixture is examined and the inequalities are shown to ensure a physically reasonable response. As an application of the theory properties of acoustic waves in a binary mixture of ideal gases are evaluated numerically.  相似文献

Photon correlation spectroscopy was applied to concentrated micellar solutions of sodium and potassium oleate. In rod-like micellar phases the relaxation times of the concentration fluctuation were measured as a function of temperature. A remarkable temperature dependence of the relaxation time was found in the isotropic phase of rod-like micelles. This suggests that the rotational diffusion is strongly reduced by the entanglement effect. The thermal expansion coefficient of rod-like micelles was determined.  相似文献
