In [Ko 2] we extend Putinar's theorem to every operator on a finite dimensional space by generalizing Putinar's techniques. Using these techniques, we construct a functional model for the unilateral backward shift. We show, in particular, that the unilateral backward shift is w-quasisubscalar. As a corollary we prove that every strict contraction is w-subscalar, i.e., is similar to the restriction to an invariant subspace of a w-scalar operator.Research partially supported by GARC. 相似文献

It is known that for particular classes of operators on certain reproducing
kernel Hilbert spaces, key properties of the operators (such as boundedness
or compactness) may be determined by the behaviour of the operators
on the reproducing kernels. We prove such results for Toeplitz operators on
the Paley-Wiener space, a reproducing kernel Hilbert space over
. Namely,
we show that the norm of such an operator is equivalent to the supremum of
the norms of the images of the normalised reproducing kernels of the space.
In particular, therefore, the operator is bounded exactly when this supremum
is finite. In addition, a counterexample is provided which shows that the operator
norm is not equivalent to the supremum of the norms of the images
of the real normalised reproducing kernels. We also give a necessary and
sufficient condition for compactness of the operators, in terms of their limiting
behaviour on the reproducing kernels. 相似文献

and consider the class Sp,q of Toeplitz operators Tφ for which the sequence of Schatten norms
belongs to ℓq, where φn = φχ An. We study the boundedness and compactness of the operators in Sp,q and we describe the operators Tφ , φ ≥ 0 in these spaces in terms of weighted Herz norms of the averaging operator of the symbols φ. 相似文献

In this work we develop the theory of weighted anisotropic Besov spaces associated with general expansive matrix dilations and doubling measures with the use of discrete wavelet transforms. This study extends the isotropic Littlewood- Paley methods of dyadic -transforms of Frazier and Jawerth [19, 21] to non-isotropic settings.Several results of isotropic theory of Besov spaces are recovered for weighted anisotropic Besov spaces. We show that these spaces are characterized by the magnitude of the -transforms in appropriate sequence spaces. We also prove boundedness of an anisotropic analogue of the class of almost diagonal operators and we obtain atomic and molecular decompositions of weighted anisotropic Besov spaces, thus extending isotropic results of Frazier and Jawerth [21].The author was partially supported by the NSF grant DMS-0441817. 相似文献

A construction is made of a unitary linear system whose transfer function is a given power seriesB(z) with operator coefficients such that multiplication byB(z) is an everywhere defined transformation in the space of square summable power series with vector coefficients. A condition is also given for the existence of an observable linear system with such a transfer function. For both constructions properties of the spaces are given which imply essential uniqueness of linear systems with given transfer functions. A canonical conjugate-isometric linear system is uniquely determined by its transfer function whenever the state space is a Pontryagin space. 相似文献

The notion of a quasi-free Hilbert module over a function algebra
$\mathcal{A}$ consisting of holomorphic functions on a bounded domain $\Omega$ in complex m
space is introduced. It is shown that quasi-free Hilbert modules correspond to
the completion of the direct sum of a certain number of copies of the algebra
$\mathcal{A}$. A Hilbert module is said to be weakly regular (respectively, regular) if there
exists a module map from a quasi-free module with dense range (respectively,
onto). A Hilbert module $\mathcal{M}$ is said to be compactly supported if there exists a
constant $\beta$ satisfying $\|\varphi f\| \leq \beta \ |\varphi \| \textsl{X} \|f \|$ for some compact subset X of $\Omega$ and
$\varphi$ in $\mathcal{A}$, f in $\mathcal{M}$. It is shown that if a Hilbert module is compactly supported
then it is weakly regular. The paper identifies several other classes of Hilbert
modules which are weakly regular. In addition, this result is extended to yield
topologically exact resolutions of such modules by quasi-free ones. 相似文献

Athavale introduced in [3] the notion of a completely hyperexpansive operator. In this paper some results concerning powers of completely (alternatingly) hyperexpansive operators (not necessarily bounded) are extended tok-hyperexpansive ones. A semispectral measure is associated with a subnormal contraction as well as with a completely hyperexpansive operator, and an operator version of the Levy-Khinchin representation is obtained. Passing to the Naimark dilation of the semispectral measure, such an operator is related to a positive contraction in a natural way. New characterizations of a completely hyperexpansive operator and a subnormal contraction are given. The power bounded completely hyperexpansive operators are characterized. All these are illustrated using weighted shifts. 相似文献

We consider in this paper the classes of n-hypercontractive Hilbert space operators, primarily weighted shifts, and obtain results for back step extensions of recursively
generated subnormal weighted shifts and for perturbations in the first weight of the Bergman shift. We compare the results
with those for the classes of k-hyponormal operators, and recapture, by an n-hypercontractive approach, a subnormality result originally proved in the k-hyponormal context. 相似文献

Schur multipliers on the unit ball are operator-valued functions for
which the N-variable Schwarz-Pick kernel is nonnegative. In this paper, the
coefficient spaces are assumed to be Pontryagin spaces having the same negative
index. The associated reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces are characterized
in terms of generalized difference-quotient transformations. The connection
between invariant subspaces and factorization is established. 相似文献

This paper studies the n-contractive and n-hypercontractive Hilbert space operators (n = 1, 2, . . .), classes weaker than, but related to, the class of subnormal operators. The k-hyponormal operators are the more thoroughly explored examples of classes weaker than subnormal; we show that k-hyponormality implies 2k-contractivity. Turning to weighted shifts, it is shown that if a weighted shift is extremal in the sense that the general
nonnegativity test for n-contractivity is satisfied with equality to zero, then the shift is necessarily the unweighted unilateral shift. Also considered
are the n-contractivity of back step extensions and perturbations of subnormal weighted shifts and some connections with the Berger
measure of a subnormal shift.
