By the Telescope Conjecture for Module Categories, we mean the following claim: “Let R be any ring and (A,B) be a hereditary cotorsion pair in Mod-R with A and B closed under direct limits. Then (A,B) is of finite type.”We prove a modification of this conjecture with the word ‘finite’ replaced by ‘countable.’ We show that a hereditary cotorsion pair (A,B) of modules over an arbitrary ring R is generated by a set of strongly countably presented modules provided that B is closed under unions of well-ordered chains. We also characterize the modules in B and the countably presented modules in A in terms of morphisms between finitely presented modules, and show that (A,B) is cogenerated by a single pure-injective module provided that A is closed under direct limits. Then we move our attention to strong analogies between cotorsion pairs in module categories and localizing pairs in compactly generated triangulated categories. 相似文献

AbstractIn this paper, we introduce a concept of a dual F-Baer module M where F is the fully invariant submodule of M, by this means we deal with generating dual Baer modules. We investigate direct sums of dual F -Baer modules M by exerting the notion of relatively dual F-Baer modules. We also obtain applications of dual F-Baer modules to rings and the preradical Z*(·). 相似文献

A new class of algebras (the Jacobian algebras) is introduced and studied in detail. The Jacobian algebras are obtained from the Weyl algebras by inverting (not in the sense of Ore) certain elements. Surprisingly, the Jacobian algebras and the Weyl algebras have little in common. Moreover, they have almost opposite properties. 相似文献

We study the Hochschild homology of algebras related via split pairs, and apply this to fiber products, trivial extensions, monomial algebras, graded-commutative algebras and quantum complete intersections. In particular, we compute lower bounds for the dimensions of both the Hochschild homology and cohomology groups of quantum complete intersections. 相似文献

A TTF-triple (C,T,F) in an abelian category is one-sided split in case either (C,T) or (T,F) is a split torsion theory. In this paper we classify one-sided split TTF-triples in module categories, thus completing Jans’ classification of two-sided split TTF-triples and answering a question that has remained open for almost 40 years. 相似文献

We discuss the relation between pluripolar hulls and fine analytic structure. Our main result is the following. For each non polar subset S of the complex plane ? we prove that there exists a pluripolar set E ⊂ (S × ?) with the property that the pluripolar hull of E relative to ?2 contains no fine analytic structure and its projection onto the first coordinate plane equals ?. 相似文献

An abelian category with arbitrary coproducts and a small projective generator is equivalent to a module category (Mitchell (1964) [17]). A tilting object in an abelian category is a natural generalization of a small projective generator. Moreover, any abelian category with a tilting object admits arbitrary coproducts (Colpi et al. (2007) [8]). It naturally arises the question when an abelian category with a tilting object is equivalent to a module category. By Colpi et al. (2007) [8], the problem simplifies in understanding when, given an associative ring R and a faithful torsion pair (X,Y) in the category of right R-modules, the heartH(X,Y)of the t-structure associated with (X,Y) is equivalent to a category of modules. In this paper, we give a complete answer to this question, proving necessary and sufficient conditions on (X,Y) for H(X,Y) to be equivalent to a module category. We analyze in detail the case when R is right artinian. 相似文献

The first Brauer-Thrall conjecture asserts that algebras of bounded representation type have finite representation type. This conjecture was solved by Roiter in 1968. The induction scheme which he used in his proof prompted Gabriel to introduce an invariant which we propose to call Gabriel-Roiter measure. This invariant is defined for any finite length module and it will be studied in detail in this paper. Whereas Roiter and Gabriel were dealing with algebras of bounded representation type only, it is the purpose of the present paper to demonstrate the relevance of the Gabriel-Roiter measure for algebras in general, in particular for those of infinite representation type. 相似文献

This paper deals with the optimal stopping problem under partial observation for piecewise-deterministic Markov processes. We first obtain a recursive formulation of the optimal filter process and derive the dynamic programming equation of the partially observed optimal stopping problem. Then, we propose a numerical method, based on the quantization of the discrete-time filter process and the inter-jump times, to approximate the value function and to compute an ?-optimal stopping time. We prove the convergence of the algorithms and bound the rates of convergence. 相似文献

I.N. Herstein proved that if R is a prime ring satisfying a differential identity , with d a nonzero derivation of R, then R embeds isomorphically in M2(F) for F a field. We consider a natural generalization of this result for the class of polynomials En(X)=[En-1(x1,…,xn-1),xn]. Using matrix computations, we prove that if R satisfies a differential identity , or with some restrictions, then R must embed in M2(F), but that differential identities using [[En,Em],Es] with m,n,s>1 need not force R to embed in M2(F). These results hold if the expressions are identities for a noncommutative Lie ideal of R, rather than for R itself. 相似文献

We study in detail the algebra Sn in the title which is an algebra obtained from a polynomial algebra Pn in n variables by adding commuting, left (but not two-sided) inverses of the canonical generators of Pn. The algebra Sn is non-commutative and neither left nor right Noetherian but the set of its ideals satisfies the a.c.c., and the ideals commute. It is proved that the classical Krull dimension of Sn is 2n; but the weak and the global dimensions of Sn are n. The prime and maximal spectra of Sn are found, and the simple Sn-modules are classified. It is proved that the algebra Sn is central, prime, and catenary. The set In of idempotent ideals of Sn is found explicitly. The set In is a finite distributive lattice and the number of elements in the set In is equal to the Dedekind number dn. 相似文献

In this paper, we study the finitistic dimensions of artin algebras by establishing a relationship between the global dimensions of the given algebras, on the one hand, and the finitistic dimensions of their subalgebras, on the other hand. This is a continuation of the project in [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 193 (2004) 287-305]. For an artin algebra A we denote by gl.dim(A), fin.dim(A) and rep.dim(A) the global dimension, finitistic dimension and representation dimension of A, respectively. The Jacobson radical of A is denoted by rad(A). The main results in the paper are as follows: Let B be a subalgebra of an artin algebra A such that rad(B) is a left ideal in A. Then (1) if gl.dim(A)?4 and rad(A)=rad(B)A, then fin.dim(B)<∞. (2) If rep.dim(A)?3, then fin.dim(B)<∞. The results are applied to pullbacks of algebras over semi-simple algebras. Moreover, we have also the following dual statement: (3) Let ?:B?A be a surjective homomorphism between two algebras B and A. Suppose that the kernel of ? is contained in the socle of the right B-module BB. If gl.dim(A)?4, or rep.dim(A)?3, then fin.dim(B)<∞. Finally, we provide a class of algebras with representation dimension at most three: (4) If A is stably hereditary and rad(B) is an ideal in A, then rep.dim(B)?3. 相似文献

Let A be a prime ring and let R be a noncentral Lie ideal of A. An additive map f:R→A is called strong commutativity preserving (SCP) on R if [f(x),f(y)]=[x,y] for all x,y∈R. In this paper we show that if f is SCP on R, then there exist λ∈C, λ2=1 and an additive map μ:R→Z(A) such that f(x)=λx+μ(x) for all x∈R where C is the extended centroid of A, unless charA=2 and A satisfies the standard identity of degree 4. 相似文献

A Wedderburn polynomial over a division ring K is a minimal polynomial of an algebraic subset of K. Such a polynomial is always a product of linear factors over K, although not every product of linear polynomials is a Wedderburn polynomial. In this paper, we establish various properties and characterizations of Wedderburn polynomials over K, and show that these polynomials form a complete modular lattice that is dual to the lattice of full algebraic subsets of K. Throughout the paper, we work in the general setting of an Ore skew polynomial ring K[t,S,D], where S is an endomorphism of K and D is an S-derivation on K. 相似文献

Let A be a prime ring of characteristic not 2, with center Z(A) and with involution *. Let S be the set of symmetric elements of A. Suppose that f:S→A is an additive map such that [f(x),f(y)]=[x,y] for all x,y∈S. Then unless A is an order in a 4-dimensional central simple algebra, there exists an additive map μ:S→Z(A) such that f(x)=x+μ(x) for all x∈S or f(x)=-x+μ(x) for all x∈S. 相似文献

p.p. rings and generalized p.p. rings 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper concerns two conditions, called right p.p. and generalized right p.p., which are generalizations of Baer rings and von Neumann regular rings. We study the subrings and extensions of them, adding proper examples and counterexamples to some situations and questions that occur naturally in the process of this paper. 相似文献

The well known Schröder–Bernstein Theorem states that any two sets with one to one maps into each other are isomorphic. The question of whether any two (subisomorphic or) direct summand subisomorphic algebraic structures are isomorphic, has long been of interest. Kaplansky asked whether direct summands subisomorphic abelian groups are always isomorphic? The question generated a great deal of interest. The study of this question for the general class of modules has been somewhat limited. We extend the study of this question for modules in this paper. We say that a module Msatisfies the Schröder–Bernstein property (S-B property) if any two direct summands of M which are subisomorphic to direct summands of each other, are isomorphic. We show that a large number of classes of modules satisfy the S-B property. These include the classes of quasi-continuous, directly finite, quasi-discrete and modules with ACC on direct summands. It is also shown that over a Noetherian ring R, every extending module satisfies the S-B property. Among applications, it is proved that the class of rings R for which every R-module satisfies the S-B property is precisely that of pure-semisimple rings. We show that over a commutative domain R, any two quasi-continuous subisomorphic R-modules are isomorphic if and only if R is a PID. We study other conditions related to the S-B property and obtain characterizations of certain classes of rings via those conditions. Examples which delimit and illustrate our results are provided. 相似文献

We say that an algebra A is periodic if it has a periodic projective resolution as an (A,A)-bimodule. We show that any self-injective algebra of finite representation type is periodic. To prove this, we first apply the theory of smash products to show that for a finite Galois covering B→A, B is periodic if and only if A is. In addition, when A has finite representation type, we build upon results of Buchweitz to show that periodicity passes between A and its stable Auslander algebra. Finally, we use Asashiba’s classification of the derived equivalence classes of self-injective algebras of finite type to compute bounds for the periods of these algebras, and give an application to stable Calabi-Yau dimensions. 相似文献
