For the abstract Volterra integro-differential equation utt ? Nu + ∝?∞t K(t ? τ) u(τ) = 0 in Hilbert space, with prescribed past history u(τ) = U(τ), ? ∞ < τ < 0, and associated initial data u(0) = f, ut(0) = g, we establish conditions on K(t), ? ∞ < t < + ∞ which yield various growth estimates for solutions u(t), belonging to a certain uniformly bounded class, as well as lower bounds for the rate of decay of solutions. Our results are interpreted in terms of solutions to a class of initial-boundary value problems in isothermal linear viscoelasticity.  相似文献

The non-characteristic Cauchy problem for the heat equation uxx(x,t) = u1(x,t), 0 ? x ? 1, ? ∞ < t < ∞, u(0,t) = φ(t), ux(0, t) = ψ(t), ? ∞ < t < ∞ is regularizèd when approximate expressions for φ and ψ are given. Properties of the exact solution are used to obtain an explicit stability estimate.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the study of the large-time behavior of the solutions u of a class of one-dimensional reaction–diffusion equations with monostable reaction terms f, including in particular the classical Fisher-KPP nonlinearities. The nonnegative initial data u 0(x) are chiefly assumed to be exponentially bounded as x tends to + ∞ and separated away from the unstable steady state 0 as x tends to ? ∞. On the one hand, we give some conditions on u 0 which guarantee that, for some λ > 0, the quantity c λ = λ +f′(0)/λ is the asymptotic spreading speed, in the sense that lim  t→+∞ u(t, ct) = 1 (the stable steady state) if c < c λ and lim  t→+∞ u(t, ct) = 0 if c > c λ. These conditions are fulfilled in particular when u 0(xe λx is asymptotically periodic as x → + ∞. On the other hand, we also construct examples where the spreading speed is not uniquely determined. Namely, we show the existence of classes of initial conditions u 0 for which the ω-limit set of u(t, ct + x) as t tends to + ∞ is equal to the whole interval [0, 1] for all x ∈ ? and for all speeds c belonging to a given interval (γ1, γ2) with large enough γ1 < γ2 ≤ + ∞.  相似文献

We consider the class of equations ut=f(uxx, ux, u) under the restriction that for all a,b,c. We first consider this equation over the unbounded domain ? ∞ < x < + ∞, and we show that very nearly every bounded nonmonotonic solution of the form u(t, x)=?(x?ct) is unstable to all nonnegative and all nonpositive perturbations. We then extend these results to nonmonotonic plane wave solutions u(t, x, y)=?(x?ct) of ut = F(uxx, uxy, ux, uy, u). Finally, we consider the class of equations ut=f(uxx, ux, u) over the bounded domain 0 < x < 1 with the boundary conditions u(t, x)=A at x=0 and u(t, x)=B at x=1, and we find the stability of all steady solutions u(t, x)=?(x).  相似文献

Let f(u) be twice continuously differentiable on [0, c]) for some constant c such that f(0) > 0,f′ ? 0,f″ ? 0, and limucf(u) = ∞. Also, let χ(S) be the characteristic function of the set S. This article studies all solutions u with non-negative ut, in the region where u < c and with continuous ux for the problem: uxxut = ? f(u)χ({u < c}), 0 < x < a, 0 < t < ∞, subject to zero initial and first boundary conditions. For any length a larger than the critical length, it is shown that if ∫f(u) du < ∞, then as t tends to infinity, all solutions tend to the unique steady-state profile U(x), which can be computed by a derived formula; furthermore, increasing the length a increases the interval where U(x) ? c by the same amount. For illustration, examples are given.  相似文献

The initial value problem on [?R, R] is considered: ut(t, x) = uxx(t, x) + u(t, x)γu(t, ±R) = 0u(0, x) = ?(x), where ? ? 0 and γ is a fixed large number. It is known that for some initial values ? the solution u(t, x) exists only up to some finite time T, and that ∥u(t, ·)∥ → ∞ as tT. For the specific initial value ? = , where ψ ? 0, ψxx + ψγ = 0, ψR) = 0, k is sufficiently large, it is shown that if x ≠ 0, then limtTu(t, x) and limtTux(t, x) exist and are finite. In other words, blow-up occurs only at the point x = 0.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the existence of positive solutions for the singular fractional boundary value problem: Dαu(t)+f(t,u(t),Dμu(t))=0, u(0)=u(1)=0, where 1<α<2, 0<μ?α−1, Dα is the standard Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative, f is a positive Carathéodory function and f(t,x,y) is singular at x=0. By means of a fixed point theorem on a cone, the existence of positive solutions is obtained. The proofs are based on regularization and sequential techniques.  相似文献

This paper deals with the construction of analytic-numerical solutions with a priori error bounds for systems of the type ut = Auxx, u(0,t) + ux(0,t) = 0, Bu(1,t) + Cux(1,t) = 0, 0 < x < 1, t > 0, u(x,0) = f(x). Here A, B, C are matrices for which no diagonalizable hypothesis is assumed. First an exact series solution is obtained after solving appropriate vector Sturm-Liouville-type problems. Given an admissible error ε and a bounded subdomain D, after appropriate truncation an approximate solution constructed in terms of data and approximate eigenvalues is given so that the error is less than the prefixed accuracy ε, uniformly in D.  相似文献

We investigate the behaviour of solution uu(x, t; λ) at λ =  λ* for the non-local porous medium equation ${u_t = (u^n)_{xx} + {\lambda}f(u)/({\int_{-1}^1} f(u){\rm d}x)^2}We investigate the behaviour of solution uu(x, t; λ) at λ =  λ* for the non-local porous medium equation ut = (un)xx + lf(u)/(ò-11 f(u)dx)2{u_t = (u^n)_{xx} + {\lambda}f(u)/({\int_{-1}^1} f(u){\rm d}x)^2} with Dirichlet boundary conditions and positive initial data. The function f satisfies: f(s),−f ′ (s) > 0 for s ≥ 0 and s n-1 f(s) is integrable at infinity. Due to the conditions on f, there exists a critical value of parameter λ, say λ*, such that for λ > λ* the solution u = u(x, t; λ) blows up globally in finite time, while for λ ≥ λ* the corresponding steady-state problem does not have any solution. For 0 < λ < λ* there exists a unique steady-state solution w = w(x; λ) while u = u(x, t; λ) is global in time and converges to w as t → ∞. Here we show the global grow-up of critical solution u* =  u(x, t; λ*) (u* (x, t) → ∞, as t → ∞ for all x ? (-1,1){x\in(-1,1)}.  相似文献

The present paper is concerned with the initial boundary value problem for the generalized Burgers equation u t + g(t, u)u x + f(t, u) = εu xx which arises in many applications. We formulate a condition guaranteeing the a priori estimate of max |u x | independent of ε and t and give an example demonstrating the optimality of this condition. Based on this estimate we prove the global existence of a unique classical solution of the problem and investigate the behavior of this solution for ε → 0 and t → + ∞. The Cauchy problem for this equation is considered as well.  相似文献

Let (X, ∑, μ) be a σ-finite measure space and Lp(μ) = Lp(X, ∑, μ), 1 ? p ? ∞, the usual Banach spaces of complex-valued functions. Let {Tt: t ? 0} be a strongly continuous semigroup of positive Lp(μ) operators for some 1 ? p < ∞. Denote by Rλ the resolvent of {Tt}. We show that f?Lp(μ) implies λRλf(x) → f(x) a.e. as λ → ∞.  相似文献

Numerical approximation of the solution of the Cauchy problem for the linear parabolic partial differential equation is considered. The problem: (p(x)ux)x ? q(x)u = p(x)ut, 0 < x < 1,0 < t? T; u(0, t) = ?1(t), 0 < t ? T; u(1,t) = ?2(t), 0 < t ? T; p(0) ux(0, t) = g(t), 0 < t0 ? t ? T, is ill-posed in the sense of Hadamard. Complex variable and Dirichlet series techniques are used to establish Hölder continuous dependence of the solution upon the data under the additional assumption of a known uniform bound for ¦ u(x, t)¦ when 0 ? x ? 1 and 0 ? t ? T. Numerical results are obtained for the problem where the data ?1, ?2 and g are known only approximately.  相似文献

We consider entire solutions of ut=uxx-f(u), i.e. solutions that exist for all (x,t)∈R2, where f(0)=f(1)=0<f(0). In particular, we are interested in the entire solutions which behave as two opposite wave fronts of positive speed(s) approaching each other from both sides of the x-axis and then annihilating in a finite time. In the case f(1)>0, we show that such entire solution exists and is unique up to space-time translations. In the case f(1)<0, we derive two families of such entire solutions. In the first family, one cannot be any space-time translation of the other. Yet all entire solutions in the second family only differ by a space-time translation.  相似文献

We study the p-system with viscosity given by vt ? ux = 0, ut + p(v)x = (k(v)ux)x + f(∫ vdx, t), with the initial and the boundary conditions (v(x, 0), u(x,0)) = (v0, u0(x)), u(0,t) = u(X,t) = 0. To describe the motion of the fluid more realistically, many equations of state, namely the function p(v) have been proposed. In this paper, we adopt Planck's equation, which is defined only for v > b(> 0) and not a monotonic function of v, and prove the global existence of the smooth solution. The essential point of the proof is to obtain the bound of v of the form b < h(T) ? v(x, t) ? H(T) < ∞ for some constants h(T) and H(T).  相似文献

This paper deals with the construction of continuous numerical solutions of mixed problems described by the time-dependent telegraph equation utt + c(t)ut + b(t)u = a(t)uxx, 0 < x < d, t > 0. Here a(t), b(t), and c(t) are positive functions with appropiate additional alternative hypotheses. First, using the separation of variables technique a theoretical series solution is obtained. Then, after truncation using one-step matrix methods and interpolating functions, a continuous numerical solution with a prefixed accuracy in a bounded subdomain is constructed.  相似文献

The singularly perturbed parabolic equation ?u t + ε2Δu ? f(u, x, ε) = 0, xD ? ?2, t > 0 with Robin conditions on the boundary of D is considered. The asymptotic stability as t → ∞ and the global domain of attraction are analyzed for the stationary solution whose limit as ε → 0 is a nonsmooth solution to the reduced equation f(u, x, 0) = 0 that consists of two intersecting roots of this equation.  相似文献

The existence of local (in time) solutions of the initial-boundary value problem for the following degenerate parabolic equation: ut(x,t)−Δpu(x,t)−|u|q−2u(x,t)=f(x,t), (x,t)∈Ω×(0,T), where 2?p<q<+∞, Ω is a bounded domain in RN, is given and Δp denotes the so-called p-Laplacian defined by Δpu:=∇⋅(|∇u|p−2u), with initial data u0Lr(Ω) is proved under r>N(qp)/p without imposing any smallness on u0 and f. To this end, the above problem is reduced into the Cauchy problem for an evolution equation governed by the difference of two subdifferential operators in a reflexive Banach space, and the theory of subdifferential operators and potential well method are employed to establish energy estimates. Particularly, Lr-estimates of solutions play a crucial role to construct a time-local solution and reveal the dependence of the time interval [0,T0] in which the problem admits a solution. More precisely, T0 depends only on Lr|u0| and f.  相似文献
