We study peaked wave solutions of a generalized Hyperelastic-rod wave equation describing waves in compressible hyperelastic-rods by using the bifurcation theory of planar dynamical systems and numerical simulation method. The existence domain of the peaked solitary waves are found. The analytic expressions of peaked solitary wave solutions are obtained. Our numerical simulation and qualitative results are identical.  相似文献

The qualitative theory of differential equations is applied to the Fornberg–Whitham equation. Smooth, peaked and cusped solitary wave solutions of the Fornberg–Whitham equation under inhomogeneous boundary condition are obtained. The conditions of existence of the smooth, peaked and cusped solitary wave solutions are given by using the phase portrait analytical technique. Asymptotic analysis and numerical simulations are provided for smooth, peaked and cusped solitary wave solutions of the Fornberg–Whitham equation. Different kinds of optical wave solutions to the nonlinearly dispersive Schrödinger equation are given according to different parameters’ regions. Those solutions include looped wave solutions, cusped wave solutions, peaked wave solutions, compacted wave solutions. The looped and cusped forms have not been reported in the literature regarding to the study of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We also study the limiting behavior of all periodic solutions as the parameters trend to some special values.  相似文献

The existence of solitary wave solutions of the generalized two-component Hunter–Saxton system is determined. It is also shown that there are peaked and cusped solitary waves with singularities among those smooth solitary wave solutions.  相似文献

We study here the existence of solitary wave solutions of a generalized two-component Camassa–Holm system. In addition to those smooth solitary-wave solutions, we show that there are solitary waves with singularities: peaked and cusped solitary waves. We also demonstrate that all smooth solitary waves are orbitally stable in the energy space. We finally give a sufficient condition for global strong solutions to the equation in some special case.  相似文献

We classify all weak traveling wave solutions of the Degasperis-Procesi equation. In addition to smooth and peaked solutions, the equation is shown to admit more exotic traveling waves such as cuspons, stumpons, and composite waves.  相似文献

In this paper, we employed the bifurcation method and qualitative theory of dynamical systems to study the peakons and periodic cusp waves of the generalization of the Camassa‐Holm equation, which may be viewed as an extension of peaked waves of the same equation. Through the bifurcation phase portraits of traveling wave system, we obtained the explicit peakons and periodic cusp wave solutions. Further, we exploited the numerical simulation to confirmthe qualitative analysis, and indeed, the simulation results are in accord with the qualitative analysis. Compared with the previous works, several new nonlinear wave solutions are obtained. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Abstract

We obtain analytical solutions, by way of the homotopy analysis method, to a nonlinear wave equation describing the nonlinear evolution of a vector potential of an electromagnetic pulse propagating in an arbitrary pair plasma with temperature asymmetry. As the method is analytical, we are able to construct peaked structures which propagate through the pair plasma, analogous to peakon solutions. These solutions are obtained through a novel matching of inner and outer homotopy solutions. In order to ensure that our analytical results are valid over the whole real line, we also discuss the convergence of the analytical results to the true solution, through minimization of the residual errors resulting from an approximate analytical solution. These results demonstrate the existence of peaked pulses propagating through a pair plasma. The algebraic decay rate of the pulses are determined analytically, as well. The method discussed here can be applied to approximate solutions to similar nonlinear partial differential equations of nonlinear Schr¨odinger type.  相似文献

Many models of shallow water waves, such as the famous Camassa–Holm equation, admit peaked solitary waves. However, it is an open question whether or not the widely accepted peaked solitary waves can be derived from the fully nonlinear wave equations. In this paper, a unified wave model (UWM) based on the symmetry and the fully nonlinear wave equations is put forward for progressive waves with permanent form in finite water depth. Different from traditional wave models, the flows described by the UWM are not necessarily irrotational at crest, so that it is more general. The unified wave model admits not only the traditional progressive waves with smooth crest, but also a new kind of solitary waves with peaked crest that include the famous peaked solitary waves given by the Camassa–Holm equation. Besides, it is proved that Kelvin’s theorem still holds everywhere for the newly found peaked solitary waves. Thus, the UWM unifies, for the first time, both of the traditional smooth waves and the peaked solitary waves. In other words, the peaked solitary waves are consistent with the traditional smooth ones. So, in the frame of inviscid fluid, the peaked solitary waves are as acceptable and reasonable as the traditional smooth ones. It is found that the peaked solitary waves have some unusual and unique characteristics. First of all, they have a peaked crest with a discontinuous vertical velocity at crest. Especially, unlike the traditional smooth waves that are dispersive with wave height, the phase speed of the peaked solitary waves has nothing to do with wave height, but depends (for a fixed wave height) on its decay length, i.e., the actual wavelength: in fact, the peaked solitary waves are dispersive with the actual wavelength when wave height is fixed. In addition, unlike traditional smooth waves whose kinetic energy decays exponentially from free surface to bottom, the kinetic energy of the peaked solitary waves either increases or almost keeps the same. All of these unusual properties show the novelty of the peaked solitary waves, although it is still an open question whether or not they are reasonable in physics if the viscosity of fluid and surface tension are considered.  相似文献

The μ-Camassa–Holm (μCH) equation is a nonlinear integrable partial differential equation closely related to the Camassa–Holm equation. We prove that the periodic peaked traveling wave solutions (peakons) of the μCH equation are orbitally stable.  相似文献

The peakons are peaked solitary wave solutions of a certain nonlinear dispersive equation that is a model in shallow water theory and the theory of hyperelastic rods. We give a very simple proof of the orbital stability of the peakons in the H1 norm. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

In this paper, the effects of quadratic singular curves in integrable wave equations are studied by using the bifurcation theory of dynamical system. Some new singular solitary waves (pseudo‐cuspons) and periodic waves are found more weak than regular singular traveling waves such as peaked soliton (peakon), cusp soliton (cuspon), cusp periodic wave, etc. We show that while the first‐order derivatives of the new singular solitary wave and periodic waves exist, their second‐order derivatives are discontinuous at finite number of points for the solitary waves or at infinitely countable points for the periodic wave. Moreover, an intrinsic connection is constructed between the singular traveling waves and quadratic singular curves in the phase plane of traveling wave system. The new singular periodic waves, pseudo‐cuspons, and compactons emerge if corresponding periodic orbits or homoclinic orbits are tangent to a hyperbola, ellipse, and parabola. In particular, pseudo‐cuspon is proposed for the first time. Finally, we study the qualitative behavior of the new singular solitary wave and periodic wave solutions through theoretical analysis and numerical simulation.  相似文献

In this paper, we use the bifurcation method of dynamical systems to study the traveling wave solutions for the Davey–Stewartson equation. A number of traveling wave solutions are obtained. Those solutions contain explicit periodic wave solutions, periodic blow‐up wave solutions, unbounded wave solutions, kink profile solitary wave solutions, and solitary wave solutions. Relations of the traveling wave solutions are given. Some previous results are extended. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
