A new result for integrals involving the product of Bessel functions and Associated Laguerre polynomials is obtained in terms of the hypergeometric function. Some special cases of the general integral lead to interesting finite and infinite series representations of hypergeometric functions.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The Laplace transforms of the transition probability density and distribution functions of the Feller process contain products of a Kummer and a Tricomi confluent hypergeometric function. The intricacies caused by the singularity at 0 of the Feller process imply that ultimately seven new inverse Laplace transforms can be derived of which four contain the Marcum Q function. The results of this paper together with a scarcely used link between the Marcum and Nuttall Q functions also provide two alternative proofs for an existing identity involving two Marcum Q functions with reversed arguments. The paper also expands the existing expression for the Marcum Q function with identical arguments and order 1. In particular, the new formula applies to all integer and fractional values of the order and is expressed in terms of the generalized hypergeometric function.  相似文献

The main objective of this research note is to provide an interesting result for the reducibility of the Kampé de Fériet function. The result is derived with the help of two results for the terminating 3F2 series very recently obtained by Rakha et al. A few interesting special cases have also been given. Here concerned and further investigated is a certain operator method for the computation of convolutions of polynomials. We provide a general formulation of the method with a refinement for certain old results, and also give some new applications to convolved sums involving several noted special polynomials. The advantage of the method using operators is illustrated with concrete examples. Finally, also presented is a brief investigation on convolution polynomials having two types of summations.  相似文献

Ever since the time of Euler, the so-called Euler sums have been evaluated in many different ways. We give here a (presumably) new proof of the classical Euler sum. We show that several interesting analogues of the Euler sums can be evaluated by systematically analyzing some known summation formulas involving hypergeometric series. Many other identities related to the Euler sums are also presented. Research of the first author was supported by Korea Science and Engineering Foundation Grant R05-2003-10441-0. The main object of the present paper is to show how some fairly general analytical tools and techniques can be applied with a view to deriving summation, transformation and reduction formulas for multiple hypergeometric and multiple basic (or q-) hypergeometric series. By making use of some reduction formulas for multivariable hypergeometric functions, the authors investigate several closed-form evaluations of various families of multiple hypergeometric and q-hypergeometric series. Relevant connections of the results presented in this paper with those obtained in earlier works are also considered. A number of multiple q-series identities, which are developed in this paper, are observed to be potentially useful in the related problems involving closed-form evaluations of multivariable q-hypergeometric functions. The main object of this paper is to give analogous definitions of Apostol type (see [T.M. Apostol, On the Lerch Zeta function, Pacific J. Math. 1 (1951) 161-167] and [H.M. Srivastava, Some formulas for the Bernoulli and Euler polynomials at rational arguments, Math. Proc. Cambridge Philos. Soc. 129 (2000) 77-84]) for the so-called Apostol-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials of higher order. We establish their elementary properties, derive several explicit representations for them in terms of the Gaussian hypergeometric function and the Hurwitz (or generalized) Zeta function, and deduce their special cases and applications which are shown here to lead to the corresponding results for the classical Bernoulli numbers and polynomials of higher order.  相似文献

Recently, the authors introduced some generalizations of the Apostol-Bernoulli polynomials and the Apostol-Euler polynomials (see [Q.-M. Luo, H.M. Srivastava, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 308 (2005) 290-302] and [Q.-M. Luo, Taiwanese J. Math. 10 (2006) 917-925]). The main object of this paper is to investigate an analogous generalization of the Genocchi polynomials of higher order, that is, the so-called Apostol-Genocchi polynomials of higher order. For these generalized Apostol-Genocchi polynomials, we establish several elementary properties, provide some explicit relationships with the Apostol-Bernoulli polynomials and the Apostol-Euler polynomials, and derive various explicit series representations in terms of the Gaussian hypergeometric function and the Hurwitz (or generalized) zeta function. We also deduce their special cases and applications which are shown here to lead to the corresponding results for the Genocchi and Euler polynomials of higher order. By introducing an analogue of the Stirling numbers of the second kind, that is, the so-called λ-Stirling numbers of the second kind, we derive some basic properties and formulas and consider some interesting applications to the family of the Apostol type polynomials. Furthermore, we also correct an error in a previous paper [Q.-M. Luo, H.M. Srivastava, Comput. Math. Appl. 51 (2006) 631-642] and pose two open problems on the subject of our investigation.  相似文献

The main object of this presentation is to show how some simple combinatorial identities can lead to several general families of combinatorial and other series identities as well as summation formulas associated with the Fox-Wright function pΨq and various related generalized hypergeometric functions. At least one of the hypergeometric summation formulas, which is derived here in this manner, has already found a remarkable application in producing several interesting generalizations of the Karlsson-Minton summation formula. We also consider a number of other combinatorial series identities and rational sums which were proven, in recent works, by using different methods and techniques. We show that much more general results can be derived by means of certain summation theorems for hypergeometric series. Relevant connections of the results presented here with those in the aforementioned investigations are also considered.  相似文献
