The excitations connected with quantum condensation of a fermion gas are calculated quantitatively along the lines of a previous paper. We find exact agreement with earlier results: excitations of the phonon type in the absence of Coulomb interaction, strong indications for their nonexistence in the presence of this interaction.  相似文献

Properties of bound-pair excitations as correlated states of two Fermi quasiparticles in superconductors are calculated within the BCS theory of superconductivity. The partition function of the interacting electron system is expressed as a product of the partition function of a free Fermi gas and the partition function of a free Bose gas. The Bose gas partition function determines energy levels of the bound-pair excitations and their degeneracies. The calculated properties of the bound-pair excitations perfectly respect generally proven theorems concerning the BCS theory of superconductivity. The dynamical density functional theory (DDFT) as an alternative approach to the mode coupling theory (MCT) for supercooled liquids and glass transitions was recast in the path integral form, which can then be analyzed by the methods of equilibrium statistical mechanics. The hope is to avoid drastic approximations entering the original MCT such as factorization of the multiparticle correlation function. The renormalized perturbation theory is developed and the freezing is interpreted as a result of the life-time renormalization. The multicomponent extension of the theory is proposed, which could be treated exactly in the limit of infinite number of the components.  相似文献

The particle-hole continuum (PHC) for massive Dirac fermions provides an unprecedented opportunity for the formation of two collective split-off states, one in the singlet and the other in the triplet (spin-1) channel, when the short-range interactions are added to the undoped system. Both states are close in energy and are separated from the continuum of free particle-hole excitations by an energy scale of the order of the gap parameter Δ. They both disperse linearly with two different velocities, reminiscent of spin-charge separation in Luttinger liquids. When the strength of Hubbard interactions is stronger than a critical value, the velocity of singlet excitation, which we interpret as a charge composite boson, becomes zero and renders the system a Mott insulator. Beyond this critical point the low-energy sector is left with a linearly dispersing triplet mode-a characteristic of a Mott insulator. The velocity of the triplet mode at the Mott criticality is twice the velocity of the underlying Dirac fermions. The phase transition line in the space of U and Δ is in qualitative agreement with our previous dynamical mean field theory calculations.  相似文献

Applying a three-band model and the random phase approximation, we theoretically study the spin excitations in nickelate superconductors, which have been newly discovered. The spin excitations were found to be incommensurate in the low energy region.The spin resonance phenomenon emerged as the excitation energy increased. The intensity can be maximized at the incommensurate or commensurate momentum, depending on the out-of-plane momentum. The spin excitations reverted to incommensurate at higher energies. We also discuss the similarities and differences in the spin excitations of nickelate and cuprate superconductors.Our predicted results can be later validated in inelastic neutron scattering experiments.  相似文献

Collective excitations in semiconductor superlattices are studied beyond tbe random-phase approximation (RPA). The Singwi, Tosi, Land and Sjölander (STLS) theory, which accounts for exchange and short-range correlations effects through an effective potential depending on the structurc factor, is generalized to the layered electron system described by the model of Visscher and Falicov. The exact numerical solution of the STLS self-consistent equations provides information about intraplane and interplane correlations. The plasmon dispersion curves are evaluated for some typical values of the coupling constant rs of the electron system and the distance between the planes for GaAs/AlGaAs semiconductor superlattices. For comparison, the RPA and the Hubbard approximation are also considered.  相似文献

We report a combined analytic and molecular dynamics analysis of the collective mode spectrum of a bipolar (electron-hole) bilayer in the strong coupling classical limit. A robust, isotropic energy gap is identified in the out-of-phase spectra, generated by the combined effect of correlations and of the excitation of the bound dipoles. In the in-phase spectra we identify longitudinal and transverse acoustic modes wholly maintained by correlations. Strong nonlinear generation of higher harmonics of the fundamental dipole oscillation frequency and the transfer of harmonics between different modes is observed.  相似文献

Crystal phase of indirect excitons formed by spatially separated electrons and holes in coupled quantum wells is analyzed. The collective mode spectrum of the exciton crystal at zero and nonzero agnetic fields is found. The spectrum consists of two optical and two acoustical modes (transverse and longitudinal in each case). We also study changes of the dipole crystal collective excitations at the transition exciton crystal-electron-hole plasma.  相似文献

High-spin levels in125Ba have been produced in the116Sn(12 C, 3n) reaction and studied by in-beam spectroscopic methods. Two strongly populated band structures are observed. The odd-parity one is based on a 7/2? state and can be explained as the result of the coupling between anh 11/2 neutron-hole and a prolate type triaxial core. The even-parity band, built on a 7/2+ state, corresponds to collective excitations associated with a neutron-hole in theg 7/2 shell. Comparisons with heavier odd-A Ba isotopes and discussions are made in the frame work of the triaxial core model. Nuclear Reactions116Sn(12C, 3nγ), E=45–55 MeV; measuredσ(E;E γ,θ),γγ-coinc,γ-γ delay. Three gauge invariant antisymmetric tensor fields are introduced in the nonabelian gauge theories. They are certain non-linear combinations of the conjugate field tensor and they obey O(3) algebra. An effective chiral lagrangian for these fields is derived. It describes 3 vector and 3 axial mesons with vacuum quantum numbers. Three-and two-dimensional models of p-and d-pairing are constructed for superconductors and superfluid quantum liquids using the functional integration formalism. In these models, the collective excitation spectra are calculated for superconductors with nontrivial pairing (such as high-temperature superconductors (HTSC) and heavy-fermion superconductors (HFSC)) for p-and d-pairing. Both three-and two-dimensional systems are considered. Some of recent ideas concerning the realization of the mixture of different states in HTSC are considered. In particular, the mixture of states $d_{x^2 - y^2 } + id_{xy} $ is analyzed. The obtained results of calculations of collective excitation spectra in superconductors with nontrivial pairing may be used for determining the type of pairing and the order parameter in HTSC and HFSC and also for interpreting the experimental results on ultrasound and microwave absorption in these system.  相似文献

We apply the time-dependent local density approximation to the small carbon clusters. The carbon clusters of chain and ring shapes are found to show strong π-electron transitions. An interpretation is given for them as the one-dimensional plasmon excitation. Presented by K. We consider a lattice model of an anharmonic crystal and compute the isothermal (χT) and adiabatics (χS) susceptibilities for the lattice displacement below Tc. A detailed analysis is given in terms of the dimension of the lattice and a decay parameter of the harmonic force. It turns out that there is a phase-space region for which 0 < χT/χS < 1, indicating breaking of ergodicity, and a region for which χT is finite, indicating the presence of a plasmon frequency due to the anharmonicity.  相似文献
