In this paper we are concerned with the initial boundary value problem of the micropolar fluid system in a three dimensional bounded domain. We study the resolvent problem of the linearized equations and prove the generation of analytic semigroup and its time decay estimates. In particular, LpLq type estimates are obtained. By use of the LpLq estimates for the semigroup, we prove the existence theorem of global in time solution to the original nonlinear problem for small initial data. Furthermore, we study the magneto‐micropolar fluid system in the final section. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this article we analyze the L2 least‐squares finite element approximations to the incompressible inviscid rotational flow problem, which is recast into the velocity‐vorticity‐pressure formulation. The least‐squares functional is defined in terms of the sum of the squared L2 norms of the residual equations over a suitable product function space. We first derive a coercivity type a priori estimate for the first‐order system problem that will play the crucial role in the error analysis. We then show that the method exhibits an optimal rate of convergence in the H1 norm for velocity and pressure and a suboptimal rate of convergence in the L2 norm for vorticity. A numerical example in two dimensions is presented, which confirms the theoretical error estimates. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2004  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain the global regularity estimates in Orlicz spaces for second‐order divergence elliptic and parabolic equations with BMO coefficients in the whole space. In fact, the global result can follow from the local estimates. As a corollary we obtain Lp‐type regularity estimates for such equations. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the finite volume element method for the second‐order nonlinear elliptic problem and obtain the H1 and W1, superconvergence estimates between the solution of the finite volume element method and that of the finite element method, which reveal that the finite volume element method is in close relationship with the finite element method. With these superconvergence estimates, we establish the Lp and W1,p (2 < p ≤ ∞) error estimates for the finite volume element method for the second‐order nonlinear elliptic problem. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The interest in the use of quasimodes, or almost frequencies and almost eigenfunctions, to describe asymptotics for low‐frequency and high‐frequency vibrations in certain singularly perturbed spectral problems, which depend on a small parameter ε, has been recently highlighted in many papers. In this paper we deal with the low frequencies for a Steklov‐type eigenvalue homogenization problem: we consider harmonic functions in a bounded domain of ?2, and strongly alternating boundary conditions of the Dirichlet and Steklov type on a part of the boundary. The spectral parameter appears in the boundary condition on small segments Tε of size O(ε) periodically distributed along the boundary; ε also measures the periodicity of the structure. We consider associated second‐order evolution problems on spaces of traces that depend on ε, and we provide estimates for the time t in which standing waves, constructed from quasimodes, approach their solutions uε(t) as ε→0. We establish interior estimates for Lp‐norms, Orlicz norms, and mean oscillation of second derivatives of solutions to the Monge‐Ampère equation det D2u = f(x) with zero boundary value, where f(x) is strictly positive, bounded, and satisfies a VMO‐type condition. These estimates develop the regularity theory of the Monge‐Ampère equation in VMO‐type spaces. Our Orlicz estimates also sharpen Caffarelli's celebrated W2, p‐estimates. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

This article presents a finite element scheme with Newton's method for solving the time‐fractional nonlinear diffusion equation. For time discretization, we use the fractional Crank–Nicolson scheme based on backward Euler convolution quadrature. We discuss the existence‐uniqueness results for the fully discrete problem. A new discrete fractional Gronwall type inequality for the backward Euler convolution quadrature is established. A priori error estimate for the fully discrete problem in L2(Ω) norm is derived. Numerical results based on finite element scheme are provided to validate theoretical estimates on time‐fractional nonlinear Fisher equation and Huxley equation.  相似文献

In this article, we consider a single‐phase coupled nonlinear Stefan problem of the water‐head and concentration equations with nonlinear source and permeance terms and a Dirichlet boundary condition depending on the free‐boundary function. The problem is very important in subsurface contaminant transport and remediation, seawater intrusion and control, and many other applications. While a Landau type transformation is introduced to immobilize the free boundary, a transformation for the water‐head and concentration functions is defined to deal with the nonhomogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition, which depends on the free boundary function. An H1‐finite element method for the problem is then proposed and analyzed. The existence of the approximation solution is established, and error estimates are obtained for both the semi‐discrete schemes and the fully discrete schemes. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We derive residual‐based a posteriori error estimates of finite element method for linear wave equation with discontinuous coefficients in a two‐dimensional convex polygonal domain. A posteriori error estimates for both the space‐discrete case and for implicit fully discrete scheme are discussed in L(L2) norm. The main ingredients used in deriving a posteriori estimates are new Clément type interpolation estimates in conjunction with appropriate adaption of the elliptic reconstruction technique of continuous and discrete solutions. We use only an energy argument to establish a posteriori error estimates with optimal order convergence in the L(L2) norm.  相似文献

An iteration scheme is used to show the well‐posedness of the initial‐boundary value problem for incompressible hypoelastic materials, which arise as a high Weissenberg number limit of viscoelastic fluids. We first assume that the stress is a rank‐one matrix T=qqT, q∈?n, and develop energy estimates to show that the problem is locally well‐posed. This problem is related to incompressible ideal magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). We show that the general case T=CCT, C∈?n×n can be handled by a generalization of the method we developed. We consider the periodic problem for 2‐fluid nonisentropic Euler‐Poisson equations in semiconductor. By choosing a suitable symmetrizers and using an induction argument on the order of the time‐space derivatives of solutions in energy estimates, we obtain the global stability of solutions with exponential decay in time near the nonconstant steady‐states for 2‐fluid nonisentropic Euler‐Poisson equations. This improves the results obtained for models with temperature diffusion terms by using the pressure functions pν in place of the unknown variables densities nν.  相似文献

A two‐phase two‐component model is formulated for the advective–diffusive transport of methane in liquid phase through sediment with the accompanying formation and dissolution of methane hydrate. This free‐boundary problem has a unique generalized solution in L1; the proof combines analysis of the stationary semilinear elliptic Dirichlet problem with the nonlinear semigroup theory in Banach space for an m‐accretive multi‐valued operator. Additional estimates of maximum principle type are obtained, and these permit appropriate maximal extensions of the phase‐change relations. An example with pure advection indicates the limitations of these estimates and of the model developed here. We also consider and analyze the coupled pressure equation that determines the advective flux in the transport model. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this article, we present a finite element scheme combined with backward Euler method to solve a nonlocal parabolic problem. An important issue in the numerical solution of nonlocal problems while using Newton's method is related to its structure. In fact differently from the local case where the Jacobian matrix is sparse and banded, in the nonlocal case the Jacobian matrix is dense and computations are much more onerous compared to that for differential equations. In order to avoid this difficulty, we use the technique given by Gudi (SIAM J Numer Anal 50 (2012), 657–668) for elliptic nonlocal problem of Kirchhoff type. We discuss the well‐posedness of the weak formulation at continuous as well as at discrete levels. We also derive a priori error estimates for semidiscrete and fully discrete formulations in L2 and H1 norms. Results based on the usual finite element method are provided to confirm the theoretical estimates. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 33: 786–813, 2017  相似文献

The FFT‐based homogenization method of Moulinec–Suquet has recently attracted attention because of its wide range of applicability and short computational time. In this article, we deduce an optimal a priori error estimate for the homogenization method of Moulinec–Suquet, which can be interpreted as a spectral collocation method. Such methods are well‐known to converge for sufficiently smooth coefficients. We extend this result to rough coefficients. More precisely, we prove convergence of the fields involved for Riemann‐integrable coercive coefficients without the need for an a priori regularization. We show that our L2 estimates are optimal and extend to mildly nonlinear situations and Lp estimates for p in the vicinity of 2. The results carry over to the case of scalar elliptic and curl ? curl‐type equations, encountered, for instance, in stationary electromagnetism. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We provide new insights into the a priori theory for a time‐stepping scheme based on least‐squares finite element methods for parabolic first‐order systems. The elliptic part of the problem is of general reaction‐convection‐diffusion type. The new ingredient in the analysis is an elliptic projection operator defined via a nonsymmetric bilinear form, although the main bilinear form corresponding to the least‐squares functional is symmetric. This new operator allows to prove optimal error estimates in the natural norm associated to the problem and, under additional regularity assumptions, in the L2 norm. Numerical experiments are presented which confirm our theoretical findings.  相似文献

In this article, we first introduce interpolation operator of projection type in three dimensions, from which we then derive weak estimates for tensor‐product block finite elements of degree m ≥ 1. Finally, using estimates for the discrete Green's function and the discrete derivative Green's function, we prove that both of the gradient and the function value of the finite element solution uh and the corresponding interpolant Πmu of projection type and degree m are superclose in the pointwise sense of the L‐norm. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We study the Dirichlet problem for the stationary Oseen equations around a rotating body in an exterior domain. Our main results are the existence and uniqueness of weak and very weak solutions satisfying appropriate Lq‐estimates. The uniqueness of very weak solutions is shown by the method of cut‐off functions with an anisotropic decay. Then our existence result for very weak solutions is deduced by a duality argument from the existence and estimates of strong solutions. From this and interior regularity of very weak solutions, we finally establish the complete D1,r‐result for weak solutions of the Oseen equations around a rotating body in an exterior domain, where 4/3<r <4. Here, D1,r is the homogeneous Sobolev space.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for systems of quasi-linear wave equations with multiple propagation speeds in spatial dimensions n ≥ 4. The problem when the nonlinearities depend on both the unknown function and their derivatives is studied. Based on some Klainerman-Sideris type weighted estimates and space-time L 2 estimates, the results that the almost global existence for space dimensions n = 4 and global existence for n ≥ 5 of small amplitude solutions are presented.  相似文献

The combined relaxation and vanishing Debye length limit for the hydrodynamic model for semiconductors is considered in both the unipolar and the bipolar case. The resulting limit problems are non‐linear drift driven hyperbolic equations. We make use of non‐standard entropy functions and the related entropy productions in order to obtain uniform estimates. In the bipolar case additional time‐dependent L‐type estimates, available from the existence theory, are needed in order to control the entropy production terms. Finally, strong convergence of the electric field allows the limit towards the limiting problem. Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
