Cluster Chemistry

Metal cluster chemistry is one of the most rapidly developing areas of inorganic and organometallic chemistry. Prior to 1960 only a few metal clusters were well characterized. However, shortly after the early development of boron cluster chemistry, the field of metal cluster chemistry began to grow at a very rapid rate and a structural and a qualitative theoretical understanding of clusters came quickly. Analyzed here is the chemistry and the general significance of clusters with particular emphasis on the cluster research within my group. The importance of coordinately unsaturated, very reactive metal clusters is the major subject of discussion.     

Chemistry of ethyleneimine

Products of addition to both primary and secondary amino groups were obtained by reaction of 2-aminomethylethyleneimine with some acrylic acid derivatives. The nitration of indoles containing donor substituents in the 5- and 7-positions in strongly acidic media involves the protonated form and gives primarily compounds with a nitro group in the 6-position. The structures of the products were proved by PMR, UV, and mass spectrometry.

面向应用型人才培养的系列化学教材建设

The reform and innovation of the chemistry textbooks for applied chemistry students by Jinling College of Nanjing University were introduced. A series of textbooks for both theoretical and laboratory courses with focus on training the problem-solving capacity of students are developed. The reform and composition of textbooks help the development of young teachers and improvement of the teaching pedagogy and contents.     

Chemistry of trimethylene oxide

Summary The cis and trans modifications of 7-oxabicyclo[4.2.0]octane were prepared. The structures of both isomers were proved on the basis of infrared spectrum investigations and of derivatives obtained as a result of ring opening under the action of p-toluenesulfonic acid.
