In [Xiang Zhang, The embedding flows of C hyperbolic diffeomorphisms, J. Differential Equations 250 (5) (2011) 2283-2298] Zhang proved that any local smooth hyperbolic diffeomorphism whose eigenvalues are weakly nonresonant is embedded in the flow of a smooth vector field. We present a new and more conceptual proof of such result using the Jordan-Chevalley decomposition in algebraic groups and the properties of the exponential operator. We characterize the hyperbolic smooth (resp. formal) diffeomorphisms that are embedded in a smooth (resp. formal) flow. We introduce a criterion showing that the presence of weak resonances for a diffeomorphism plus two natural conditions imply that it is not embeddable. This solves a conjecture of Zhang. The criterion is optimal, we provide a method to construct embeddable diffeomorphisms with weak resonances if we remove any of the conditions.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the solutions of the hyperbolic Yamabe problem for the(1 + n)-dimensional Minkowski space-time. More precisely speaking, for the case of n = 1, we derive a general solution of the hyperbolic Yamabe problem; for the case of n = 2, 3, we study the global existence and blowup phenomena of smooth solutions of the hyperbolic Yamabe problem;while for general multi-dimensional case n ≥ 2, we discuss the global existence and non-existence for a kind of exact solutions of the hyperbolic Yamabe problem.  相似文献

We prove the existence of weak solutions for a 3D phase change model introduced by Michel Frémond in (Non‐smooth Thermomechanics. Springer: Berlin, 2002) showing, via a priori estimates, the weak sequential stability property in the sense already used by the first author in (Comput. Math. Appl. 2007; 53 :461–490). The result follows by passing to the limit in an approximate problem obtained adding a superlinear part (in terms of the gradient of the temperature) in the heat flux law. We first prove well posedness for this last problem and then—using proper a priori estimates—we pass to the limit showing that the total energy is conserved during the evolution process and proving the non‐negativity of the entropy production rate in a suitable sense. Finally, these weak solutions turn out to be the classical solution to the original Frémond's model provided all quantities in question are smooth enough. Classical solutions of hyperbolic systems, generally, collapse in finite time, even for small and smooth initial data. Here, we consider a type of these systems and prove a blow up result.  相似文献

We establish the existence and stability of multidimensional transonic shocks for the Euler equations for steady potential compressible fluids. The Euler equations, consisting of the conservation law of mass and the Bernoulli law for the velocity, can be written as a second-order, nonlinear equation of mixed elliptic-hyperbolic type for the velocity potential. The transonic shock problem can be formulated into the following free boundary problem: The free boundary is the location of the transonic shock which divides the two regions of smooth flow, and the equation is hyperbolic in the upstream region where the smooth perturbed flow is supersonic. We develop a nonlinear approach to deal with such a free boundary problem in order to solve the transonic shock problem. Our results indicate that there exists a unique solution of the free boundary problem such that the equation is always elliptic in the downstream region and the free boundary is smooth, provided that the hyperbolic phase is close to a uniform flow. We prove that the free boundary is stable under the steady perturbation of the hyperbolic phase. We also establish the existence and stability of multidimensional transonic shocks near spherical or circular transonic shocks.

We study the global existence of solutions for certain equations of the form u t + f(u) x = γB(u x ) x + δu xxt ? αu xxxx , as γ > 0, δ > 0 and α > 0 aproach zero, and f and B are sufficiently smooth functions satisfying certain appropriate assumptions. We consider solutions of hyperbolic conservation laws regularized of this equations. Following a pioneering work by Schonbek and a work by LeFloch and Natalini, we establish the convergence of the regularized solutions towards discontinuous solutions of the hyperbolic conservation law.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to strictly hyperbolic systems and equations with non‐smooth coefficients. Below a certain level of smoothness, distributional solutions may fail to exist. We construct generalised solutions in the Colombeau algebra of generalised functions. Extending earlier results on symmetric hyperbolic systems, we introduce generalised strict hyperbolicity, construct symmetrisers, prove an appropriate Gårding inequality and establish existence, uniqueness and regularity of generalised solutions. Under additional regularity assumptions on the coefficients, when a classical solution of the Cauchy problem (or of a transmission problem in the piecewise regular case) exists, the generalised solution is shown to be associated with the classical solution (or the piecewise classical solution satisfying the appropriate transmission conditions).  相似文献

We prove non-existence of smooth solutions of a quasi-linear system suggested by Ericksen in a model of Non-linear Elasticity. This system is of mixed elliptic–hyperbolic type. We discuss also a relation of such a system to polynomial integrals of Classical Hamiltonian systems.  相似文献

We study horo-tight immersions of manifolds into hyperbolic spaces. The main result gives several characterizations of horo-tightness of spheres, answering a question proposed by Cecil and Ryan. For instance, we prove that a sphere is horo-tight if and only if it is tight in the hyperbolic sense. For codimension bigger than one, it follows that horo-tight spheres in hyperbolic space are metric spheres. We also prove that horo-tight hyperspheres are characterized by the property that both of its total absolute horospherical curvatures attend their minimum value. We also introduce the notion of weak horo-tightness: an immersion is weak horo-tight if only one of its total absolute curvature attends its minimum. We prove a characterization theorem for weak horo-tight hyperspheres.  相似文献

We consider a model of current-induced magnetization dynamics described by the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) equations of the magnetization, in which an additional current dependent term is added. Two methods, namely Faedo-Galerkin/Penalty (FGP) method and hyperbolic regularization method are used to show the existence of finite energy global weak solutions.  相似文献

We study hyperbolic polyhedral surfaces with faces isometric to regular hyperbolic polygons satisfying that the total angles at vertices are at least 2π. The combinatorial information of these surfaces is shown to be identified with that of Euclidean polyhedral surfaces with negative combinatorial curvature everywhere. We prove that there is a gap between areas of non-smooth hyperbolic polyhedral surfaces and the area of smooth hyperbolic surfaces. The numerical result for the gap is obtained for hyperbolic polyhedral surfaces, homeomorphic to the double torus, whose 1-skeletons are cubic graphs.  相似文献

The authors study an initial boundary value problem for the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations of viscous heat-conductive fluids with non-Newtonian potential in a bounded smooth domain. They prove the existence of unique local strong solutions for all initial data satisfying some compatibility conditions. The difficult of this type model is mainly that the equations are coupled with elliptic, parabolic and hyperbolic, and the vacuum of density causes also much trouble, that is, the initial density need not be positive and may vanish in an open set.  相似文献

We model the flow of a fluid in a pipe by a first-order nonlinear hyperbolic system with zero-order nonlinear dissipation. We prove that a unique, global smooth solution exists if the initial data are in an appropriate invariant region and if the first derivatives of the initial data are sufficiently small.  相似文献
