We prove a very general form of the Angle Concavity Theorem, which says that if (T (t)) defines a one parameter semigroup acting over various Lp spaces (over a fixed measure space), which is analytic in a sector of opening angle θp, then the maximal choice for θp is a concave function of 1 – 1/p. This and related results are applied to give improved estimates on the optimal Lp angle of ellipticity for a parabolic equation of the form ?u /?t = Au, where A is a uniformly elliptic second order partial differential operator with Wentzell or dynamic boundary conditions. Similar results are obtained for the higher order equation ?u /?t = (–1)m +lAmu, for all positive integers m.  相似文献

This paper concerns the asymptotics of the linear wave equation with frictional damping only on Wentzell boundary in the square. After reformulating the model into an abstract Cauchy problem, we show that the spectrum for the corresponding operator matrix has no purely imaginary values. Moreover, by analyzing a family of eigenvalues for the operator matrix, we prove that there exists a solution of the system, whose energy decay rate can be arbitrarily slow.  相似文献

We define an abstract setting to treat wave equations equipped with time‐dependent acoustic boundary conditions on bounded domains of R n . We deal with the problem of analyticity for the semigroup generated by the second order differential operator Auαu″ + βu′ (or by some restrictions of it) in the spaces Lp(0, 1), with or without weight, and in W1,p(0, 1), 1 < p < ∞. We consider the stabilization of the electromagneto‐elastic system with Wentzell conditions in a bounded domain of . Using the multiplier method we prove an exponential stability result under some geometric condition. In this paper, we deal with the mixed initial boundary value problem for complete second order (in time) linear differential equations in Banach spaces, in which time-derivatives occur in the boundary conditions. General wellposedness theorems are obtained (for the first time), which are used to solve the corresponding inhomogeneous problems. Existence theory is developed for the equation ?(u)=F(u), where ? is a formally self-adjoint singular second-order differential expression and F is nonlinear. The problem is treated in a Hilbert space and we do not require the operators induced by ? to have completely continuous resolvents. Nonlinear boundary conditions are allowed. Also, F is assumed to be weakly continuous and monotone at one point. Boundary behavior of functions associated with the domains of definitions of the operators associated with ? in the singular case is investigated. Let p∈(1,N), ΩRN a bounded W1,p-extension domain and let μ be an upper d-Ahlfors measure on ∂Ω with d∈(Np,N). We show in the first part that for every p∈[2N/(N+2),N)∩(1,N), a realization of the p-Laplace operator with (nonlinear) generalized nonlocal Robin boundary conditions generates a (nonlinear) strongly continuous submarkovian semigroup on L2(Ω), and hence, the associated first order Cauchy problem is well posed on Lq(Ω) for every q∈[1,∞). In the second part we investigate existence, uniqueness and regularity of weak solutions to the associated quasi-linear elliptic equation. The solution of an initial‐boundary value problem for bending of a piecewise‐homogeneous thermoelastic plate with transverse shear deformation is represented as various combinations of single‐layer and double‐layer time‐dependent potentials. Solutions to nonlinear partial differential equations of fourth order are studied. Boundary regularity is proved for solutions that satisfy mixed boundary conditions. Various geometric situations including so called triple points are considered. Regularity is measured in Sobolev-Slobodeckii spaces and the results are sharp in this scale. In this paper we prove the existence and uniqueness of a weak solution for a non-autonomous reaction-diffusion model with dynamical boundary conditions. After that, a continuous dependence result is established via an energy method, including in particular some compactness properties. Finally, the precedent results are used in order to ensure the existence of minimal pullback attractors in the frameworks of universes of fixed bounded sets and that given by a tempered growth condition. In this paper, we consider a quasilinear parabolic equation with discontinuous source term in a bounded cylindrical domain under nonlocal and discontinuous flux conditions. Our main goal is to prove the existence of extremal solutions within a sector formed by appropriately defined upper and lower solutions. The main tools used in the proof of our result are recently obtained abstract results on nonlinear evolution equations, an abstract fixed-point result in partially ordered sets, compact embeddings, comparison, and truncation techniques.  相似文献
