In [1]–[6], the author posed and discussed the Tricomi problem of second order mixed equations, but he only consider some special mixed equations. In [3], the author discussed the uniqueness of solutions of the Tricomi problem for some second order mixed equation with nonsmooth degenerate line. The present paper deals with the Tricomi problem for general second order mixed equations with degenerate curve on the sides of an angle. I first give the formulation of the above problem, and then prove the solvability of the Tricomi problem for the mixed equations with degenerate curve on the sides of an angle, by using the existence of solutions of the mixed problem for the degenerate elliptic equations (see [11]). Here I mention that the used method in this paper is different to those in other papers or books, because I introduce the new notation (2.1) below, such that the second order equation of mixed type can be reduced to the first order complex equation of mixed type with singular coefficients, hence I can use the advantage of complex analytic method. In this paper, we consider the inverse problem for second‐order semilinear ultraparabolic equation. The equation has unknown function of time variable in its minor coefficient and two unknown functions of time and spacial variables in its right‐hand side. Initial, boundary, and integral type overdetermination conditions are posed. By using the properties of the solutions of the corresponding initial‐boundary value problem and the method of successive approximations, the sufficient conditions of the existence, and the uniqueness of the solution for the inverse problem are obtained on some time interval that depends on the coefficients of the equation.  相似文献

We consider the problem of simultaneously determining coefficients of a second order nonlinear parabolic equation and a solution to this equation. The unknown coefficients occur in the main part and in the nonlinear summand as well. The overdetermination conditions are conditions of the Dirichlet type on a family of planes of arbitrary dimension. It is demonstrated that the problem in question is solvable locally in time in Hölder spaces. When the unknown functions enter the right-hand side and the equation is linear, the theorem of global unique existence (in time) is established.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the integration of systems of second‐order linear inhomogeneous initial value problems with constant coefficients. Hybrid Numerov methods are used that are constructed in the sense of Runge‐Kutta ones. Thus, the Taylor expansions at the internal points are matched properly in the final expression. We present the order conditions taking advantage of the special structure of the problem at hand. These equations are solved using differential evolution technique, and we present a method with algebraic order eighth at a cost of only 5 function evaluations per step. Numerical results over some linear problems, especially arising from the semidiscretization of the wave equation indicate the superiority of the new method.  相似文献

We introduce a new graph for all whose cartesian powers the vertex isoperimetric problem has nested solutions. This is the fourth kind of graphs with this property besides the well-studied graphs like hypercubes, grids, and tori. In contrast to the mentioned graphs, our graph is not bipartite. We present an exact solution to the vertex isoperimetric problem on our graph by introducing a new class of orders that unifies all known isoperimetric orders defined on the cartesian powers of graphs.  相似文献

We derive Euler’s equation for the isoperimetric problem and the extremal hypersurface problem associated with Fefferman hypersurface measure for strongly pseudoconvex real hypersurfaces in ℂ2. We use volume-preserving CR invariants to show that the only “torsion-free” solutions of Euler’s equation for the isoperimetric problem are the volume-preserving images of spheres.  相似文献

In this paper, a right‐hand side identification problem for a parabolic equation with an overdetermined condition on an observation point is considered. A first and second order of accuracy difference schemes are constructed for obtaining approximate solutions of the problem that arises in two‐phase flow in capillaries. Stability estimates and numerical results are also established. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The first and second order of accuracy in time and second order of accuracy in the space variables difference schemes for the numerical solution of the initial‐boundary value problem for the multidimensional hyperbolic equation with dependent coefficients are considered. Stability estimates for the solution of these difference schemes and for the first and second order difference derivatives are obtained. Numerical methods are proposed for solving the one‐dimensional hyperbolic partial differential equation. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 2009  相似文献

We consider the problem of finding the coefficients of the first derivatives in a second-order hyperbolic equation. The additional information is the trace of a solution and its normal derivative on the lateral surface of the cylindrical domain of some direct problem for the original equation. The impulse point source lies outside the domain in which the sought coefficients are determined and is a parameter of the problem. We suppose that the number of sources for which the trace of a solution is given coincides with the number of the coefficients to be determined. The main result of this article is a stability estimate for a solution to the inverse problem under consideration.  相似文献

The paper presents an enhanced analysis of the Lax‐Wendroff difference scheme—up to the eighth‐order with respect to time and space derivatives—of the modified‐partial differential equation (MDE) of the constant‐wind‐speed advection equation. The modified equation has been so far derived mainly as a fourth‐order equation. The Π ‐form of the first differential approximation (differential approximation or equivalent equation) derived by expressing the time derivatives in terms of the space derivatives is used for presenting the MDE. The obtained coefficients at higher order derivatives are analyzed for indications of the character of the dissipative and dispersive errors. The authors included a part of the stencil applied for determining the modified differential equation up to the eighth‐order of the analyzed modified differential equation for the second‐order Lax‐Wendroff scheme. Neither the derived coefficients at the space derivatives of order p ∈ (7 – 8) in the modified differential equation for the Lax‐Wendroff difference scheme nor the results of analyses on the basis of these coefficients of the group velocity, phase shift errors, or dispersive and dissipative features of the scheme have been published. The MDEs for 2 two‐step variants of the Lax‐Wendroff type difference schemes and the MacCormack predictor–corrector scheme (see MacCormack's study) constructed for the scalar hyperbolic conservation laws are also presented in this paper. The analysis of the inviscid Burgers equation solution with the initial condition in a form of a shock wave has been discussed on their basis. The inviscid Burgers equation with the source is also presented. The theory of MDE started to develop after the paper of C. W. Hirt was published in 1968.  相似文献

We consider the Cauchy problem for second‐order strictly hyperbolic equations with time‐depending non‐regular coefficients. There is a possibility that singular coefficients make a regularity loss for the solution. The main purpose of this paper is to derive an optimal singularity for the coefficient that the Cauchy problem is C well‐posed. Moreover, we will apply such a result to the estimate of the existence time of the solution for Kirchhoff equation. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Calculating the control function that is in the coefficients of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation and minimizes the objective functional consisting of two integrals is main aim of this article. After proving the existence and uniqueness of the solution, we have constituted an algorithm using the method of gradient of projection. In this paper, we establish a Carleman estimate for a strongly damped wave equation in order to solve a coefficient inverse problems of retrieving a stationary potential from a single time‐dependent Neumann boundary measurement on a suitable part of the boundary. This coefficient inverse problem is for a strongly damped wave equation. We prove the uniqueness and the local stability results for this inverse problem. The proof of the results relies on Carleman estimate and a certain energy estimates for hyperbolic equation with strongly damped term. Moreover, this method could be used for a similar inverse problem for an integro‐differential equation with hyperbolic memory kernel. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We study the isoperimetric problem for Euclidean space endowed with a continuous density. In dimension one, we characterize isoperimetric regions for a unimodal density. In higher dimensions, we prove existence results and we derive stability conditions, which lead to the conjecture that for a radial log-convex density, balls about the origin are isoperimetric regions. Finally, we prove this conjecture and the uniqueness of minimizers for the density exp by using symmetrization techniques. The purpose of this paper is to establish unique solvability for a certain generalized boundary‐value problem for a loaded third‐order integro‐differential equation with variable coefficients. Moreover, the method of integral equations is applied to obtain an equation related to the Riemann‐Liouville operators.  相似文献

In this paper, an inverse problem for space‐fractional backward diffusion equation, which is highly ill‐posed, is considered. This problem is obtained from the classical diffusion equation by replacing the second‐order space derivative with a Riesz–Feller derivative of order α ∈ (0,2]. We show that such a problem is severely ill‐posed, and further present a simplified Tikhonov regularization method to deal with this problem. Convergence estimate is presented under a priori choice of regularization parameter. Numerical experiments are given to illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method. We are going to study a simple and effective method for the numerical solution of the closed interface boundary value problem with both discontinuities in the solution and its derivatives. It uses a strong‐form meshfree method based on the moving least squares (MLS) approximation. In this method, for the solution of elliptic equation, the second‐order derivatives of the shape functions are needed in constructing the global stiffness matrix. It is well‐known that the calculation of full derivatives of the MLS approximation, especially in high dimensions, is quite costly. In the current work, we apply the diffuse derivatives using an efficient technique. In this technique, we calculate the higher‐order derivatives using the approximation of lower‐order derivatives, instead of calculating directly derivatives. This technique can improve the accuracy of meshfree point collocation method for interface problems with nonhomogeneous jump conditions and can efficiently estimate diffuse derivatives of second‐ and higher‐orders using only linear basis functions. To introduce the appropriate discontinuous shape functions in the vicinity of interface, we choose the visibility criterion method that modifies the support of weight function in MLS approximation and leads to an efficient computational procedure for the solution of closed interface problems. The proposed method is applied for elliptic and biharmonic interface problems. For the biharmonic equation, we use a mixed scheme, which replaces this equation by a coupled elliptic system. Also the application of the present method to elasticity equation with discontinuities in the coefficients across a closed interface has been provided. Representative numerical examples demonstrate the accuracy and robustness of the proposed methodology for the closed interface problems. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, we investigate the correct solvability for the Laplace equation with a nonlocal boundary condition in the unit ball. The considered boundary operator is of fractional order. This problem is a generalization of the well‐known Bitsadze–Samarskii problem. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, the Tricomi problem and the generalized Tricomi problem for a quasilinear mixed type equation are studied. The coefficients of the mixed type equation are discontinuous on the line, where the equation changes its type. The existence of solution to these problems is proved. The method developed in this paper can be used to study more difficult problems for nonlinear mixed type equations arising in gas dynamics.  相似文献
