Oriented poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) films with β‐form crystals have been commonly prepared by cold drawing of a melt‐quenched film consisting of α‐form crystals. In this study, we have successfully produced highly oriented PVDF thin films (20 µm thick) with β‐crystals and a high crystallinity (55–76%), by solid‐state coextrusion of a gel film to eight times the original length at an established optimum extrusion temperature of 160°C, some 10°C below the melting temperature. The resultant drawn films had a highly oriented (orientation function fc = 0.993) fibrous structure, showing high mechanical properties of an extensional elastic modulus of 8.3 GPa and tensile strength of 0.84 GPa, along the draw direction. Such highly oriented and crystalline films exhibited excellent ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties. The square hysteresis loop was significantly sharper than that of a conventional sample. The sharp switching transient yielded the remnant polarization Pr of 90 mC/m2, and the electromechanical coupling factor kt was 0.24 at room temperature. These values are about 1.5 times greater than those of a conventional β‐PVDF film. Thus, solid‐state coextrusion near the melting point was found to be a useful technique for the preparation of highly oriented and highly crystalline β‐PVDF films with superior mechanical and electrical properties. The morphology of the extrudate relevant to such properties is discussed. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci B: Polym Phys 37: 2549–2556, 1999  相似文献

Nanostructured poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)/polyamide 11 (PA11) blends have been melt‐processed using a high‐shear extruder. Uniaxially oriented blended films were fabricated by hot rolling to prepare ferroelectic films. The effects of rolling temperature and draw ratio on the crystal forms of both PVDF and PA 11 were investigated by means of Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR) and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD). It was shown that hot rolling in the range of 25–110 °C results in the crystal form transformation from the nonpolar α‐form into the polar β‐form for PVDF. The content and orientation function of β‐crystallites are strongly dependent upon the rolling temperature and the draw ratio. The highest content of well‐oriented β‐crystallites was achieved with a draw ratio of 4.0 upon rolling at 80 °C. At the same time, the content of the α‐form of PA11 in the blend was also found to decrease by hot rolling. The ferroelectric properties (DE hysteresis) of the oriented blended films were measured. The remanent polarization of the PVDF/PA11 = 90/10 blend is as high as 91 mC/m2, which is about 1.2 times higher than that of pure PVDF. The DE hysteresis curves and the temperature dependence of the piezoelectric stress coefficients of the high‐shear‐processed sample suggested that the formation of nano‐dispersed structures resulted in the improvement of the remanent polarization and thermal characteristics at a temperature higher than 80 °C. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Nucleating agents with an ≈6.5 Å lattice parameter induced the α phase of isotactic polypropylene (iPP, α‐iPP). A 6.5 Å periodicity is also involved in the nucleating agents for the β phase of iPP (β‐iPP). The similarity in substrate periodicities suggests that some nucleating agents may induce either the α or β phase under different crystallization conditions. 4‐Fluorobenzoic acid, dicyclohexylterephthalamide, and γ‐quinacridone (the latter two are known as β‐iPP nucleators) were tested over a wide range of crystallization temperatures [up to crystallization temperature (Tc) > 145 °C]. The two former nucleating agents induce exclusively α‐iPP and β‐iPP, respectively. γ‐Quinacridone on the contrary is a versatile agent with respect to the crystal phase generated. More specifically, the same crystal face of γ‐quinacridone induces either β‐iPP or α‐iPP when Tc is below or above ≈140 °C. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The crystallographic structure of zinc oxide thin films grown on optical fibres using single source chemical vapour deposition (SSCVD) was analysed using near edge X‐ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS). Zinc diethyl carbamate was used as a precursor for the growth of highly conformal films in a one‐step deposition process without substrate rotation and at substrate temperatures of 400–575 °C. It was found that the growth temperatures greatly affected the crystallographic structure of the film with no preferred crystallographic orientation and negligible crystallinity at low temperatures and very high crystallinity with pure c‐axis orientation at high temperatures. Cross‐sectional analysis of the films by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed the presence of a film at all points around the fibre. These films generally consisted of densely packed columns that bore a strong resemblance to c‐axis‐oriented films grown on planar substrates. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Gel films of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) consisting of α‐form crystals were drawn uniaxially by solid‐state coextrusion to extrusion draw ratios (EDR) up to 9 at an optimum extrusion temperature of 160 °C, about 10°C below the melting temperature (Tm). The development of an oriented structure and mechanical and electrical properties on coextrusion drawing were studied as a function of EDR. Wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction patterns showed that the α crystals in the original gel films were progressively transformed into oriented β‐form crystals with increasing EDR. At the highest EDR of 9 achieved, the drawn product consisted of a highly oriented fibrous morphology with only β crystals even for the draw near the Tm. The dynamic Young's modulus along the draw direction also increased with EDR up to 10.5 GPa at the maximum EDR of 9. The electrical properties of ferroelectricity and piezoelectricity were also markedly enhanced on solid‐state coextrusion. The DE square hysteresis loop became significantly sharper with EDR, and a remanent polarization Pr of 100 mC/m2 and electromechanical coupling factor along the thickness direction kt of 0.27 were achieved at the maximum EDR of 9. The crystallinity value of 73–80% for the EDR 9 film, estimated from these electrical properties, compares well with that calculated by the ratio of the crystallite size along the chain axis to the meridional small‐angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS) long period, showing the average thickness of the lamellae within the drawn β film. These results, as well as the appearance of a strong SAXS maximum, suggest that the oriented structure and properties of the β‐PVDF are better explained in terms of a crystal/amorphous series arrangement along the draw axis. Further, the mechanical and electrical properties obtained in this work are the highest among those ever reported for a β‐PVDF, and the latter approaches those observed for the vinylidene fluoride and trifluoroethylene copolymers. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Poly(ethylene naphthalene‐2,6‐dicarboxylate) has been uniaxially stretched at different draw ratios and at two different temperatures below and above its glass transition (Tg ~ 120 °C) respectively, at 100 and 160 °C. Crystallinity has been evaluated from calorimetric analyses and compared to the values deduced by FTIR spectroscopic data. As expected, the obtained results are quite similar and show that films stretched at lower temperature (100 °C) are more crystalline than those stretched at 160 °C. Optical anisotropy associated with orientation has been evaluated by birefringence and show that films stretched at 100 °C are more birefringent than those stretched at 160 °C as a result of a higher chain relaxation above Tg. Polarized FTIR was also performed to evaluate the individual orientation of amorphous and crystalline phases by calculating dichroic ratios R and orientation functions 〈P2(cos θ)〉 and also show that amorphous and crystalline phases are more oriented in the case of films stretched below Tg. Nevertheless, the orientation of the amorphous phase is always weaker than that of the crystalline phase. Films stretched at 100 °C show a rapid increase in orientation (and crystallinity) with draw ratio and 〈P2(cos θ)〉 reaches a limit value when draw ratio becomes higher than 3.5. Films drawn at 160 °C are less oriented and their orientation is increasing progressively with draw ratio without showing a plateau. A careful measurement of the IR absorbance was necessary to evaluate the structural angles of the transition moments to the molecular chain axis. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ultra-oriented high-density polyethylene fibers (HDPE) have been prepared by solid-state extrusion over 60–140°C range using capillary draw ratios up to 52 and extrusion pressures of 0.12 to 0.49 GPa. The properties of the fibers have been assessed by birefringence, thermal expansivity, differential scanning calorimetry, x-ray analysis, and mechanical testing. A maximum birefringence of 0.0637 ± 0.0015 was obtained, greater than the calculated value of 0.059 for the intrinsic birefringence of the orthorhombic crystal phase. The maximum modulus obtained was 70 GPa. The melting point, density, crystallinity, and negative thermal expansion coefficient parallel to the fiber axis all increase rapidly with draw ratio and at draw ratios of 20–30 attain limiting values comparable with those of a polyethylene single crystal. The properties of the fibers have been analyzed using the simple rule of mixtures, assuming a two-phase model of crystalline and noncrystalline microstructure. The orientation of the noncrystalline phase with draw ratio was determined by birefringence and x-ray measurements. Solid-state extrusion of HDPE near the ambient melting point produced a c-axis orientation of 0.996 and a noncrystalline orientation function of 0.36. Extrusion 50°C below the ambient melting point produced a decrease in crystallinity, c-axis orientation, melting point, and birefringence, but the noncrystalline orientation increased at low draw ratios and was responsible for the increased thermal shrinkage of the fibers.  相似文献

Poly(ethylene‐2,6‐naphthalate) fibers were zone‐drawn under a critical necking tension (σc) defined as the minimum tension needed to generate a necking at a given drawing temperature (Td). In the zone drawing under σc, the neck was observed from 110 to 160 °C. The superstructure in a neck zone induced at each Td was studied. The σc value decreased exponentially with increasing Td and dropped to a low level at a higher Td. The draw ratio increased rapidly with Td increasing above 90 °C, but the birefringence and degree of crystallinity decreased gradually. To study the molecular orientation in the neck zone, we measured a dichroic ratio (A/A?) of a C? O band at 1256 cm?1 along a drawing direction in the neck zone with a Fourier transform infrared microscope. A/A? at Td = 110 °C increased rapidly in the narrow neck zone, and that at Td = 140 °C increased in the edge of the wide neck zone. Wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction patterns of the fibers obtained at Td = 130 °C and lower showed three reflections due to an α form, but those at Td = 140 and 150 °C had reflections due to the α form and a β form. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. This article describes the oriented crystallization of poly(L ‐lactic acid) (PLLA) in uniaxially oriented blends with poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF). Uniaxially drawn films of PLLA/PVDF blend with fixed ends were heat‐treated in two ways to crystallize PLLA in oriented blend films. The crystal orientation of PLLA depended upon the heat‐treatment process. The crystal c‐axis of the α form crystal of PLLA was highly oriented in the drawing direction in a sample cold‐crystallized at Tc = 120 °C, whereas the tilt‐orientation of the [200]/ [110] axes of PLLA was induced in the sample crystallized at Tc = 120 °C after preheating at Tp = 164.5–168.5 °C. Detailed analysis of the wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD) indicated that the [020]/ [310] crystal axes were oriented parallel to the drawing direction, which causes the tilt‐orientation of the [200]/ [110] axes and other crystal axes. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) suggested that oriented crystallization occurs in the stretched domains of PLLA with diameters of 0.5–2.0 μm in the uniaxially drawn films of PVDF/PLLA = 90/10 blend. Although the mechanism for the oriented crystallization of PLLA was not clear, a possibility was heteroepitaxy of the [200]/[110] axes of the α form crystal of PLLA along the [201]/[111] axes of the β form crystal of PVDF that is induced by lattice matching of d100(PLLA) ≈ 5d201(PVDF). © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Semicrystalline poly(bis‐trifluoroethoxymethyl)oxetane, P(B‐3FOx), was prepared by cationic ring‐opening polymerization at ?5 °C with Mn up to 21 kDa. Differences in cooling rates from the melt have substantial effects on crystal phase, percent crystallinity, surface topography, and wetting behavior. DSC and WAXD show that cooling from the melt at slow rates (<5 °C/min) gives α‐P(B‐3FOx) with ΔHf = 22–27 J/g. Quenching from the melt results in β‐P(B‐3FOx) for which a mesophase structure is suggested. β‐P(B‐3FOx) melts at 53 °C followed by recrystallization to α‐P(B‐3FOx). Solution casting from THF results in third phase, γ‐P(B‐3FOx). TM‐AFM and SEM imaging for α‐P(B‐3FOx) showed that cold crystallization at 25 °C brought about increased crystallinity and surface topologies characterized by sharp asperities and lath‐shaped crystals. Spontaneous surface roughening of α‐P(B‐3FOx) results in a discontinuous three‐phase contact line with water and an increase in water sessile drop contact angle from 106° to 136°. The ~30° increase in water contact angle was attributed primarily to a topological change from a relatively smooth surface (Wenzel state) to an asperity‐rich surface yielding a discontinuous three‐phase contact line (composite of Wenzel and Cassie‐Baxter state). The oleophobicity for this polymer, which contains only a single ? CF3 end group on each side chain, compares favorably with more highly fluorinated acrylates. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The effects of drawing temperature (Td) and draw strain on the orientation and structure of semicrystalline poly(lactic acid) (PLA) films were investigated by wide angle X-ray diffraction and polarized Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Semicrystalline PLA samples with two initial levels of crystallinity, Xc = 1% and 11%, were prepared by cold crystallization at 80 °C. Whatever Xc and Td, the total amount of the ordered phases (i.e. crystalline + mesophase) increased with draw strain, which could be ascribed to the formation of strain-induced mesophase at Td = 60 or 70 °C but crystalline at 80 °C. Also, the molecular orientation of both the amorphous and ordered phases increased with draw strain. Whatever Xc, the orientation of the ordered phases was insensitive to Td, whereas higher orientation in the amorphous phase was achieved at lower Td, and the trend was more significant for Xc = 1% compared with 11%.  相似文献

The effects of molecular characteristics and processing conditions on melt‐drawing behavior of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW‐PE) are discussed, based on a combination of in situ X‐ray measurement and stress–strain behavior. The sample films of metallocene‐ and Ziegler‐catalyzed UHMW‐PEs with a similar viscosity average MW of ~107 were prepared by compression molding at 180 °C. Stress profiles recorded at 160 °C above the melting temperature of 135 °C exhibited a plateau stress region for both films. The relative change in the intensities of the amorphous scattering recorded on the equator and on the meridian indicated the orientation of amorphous chains along the draw axis with increasing strain. However, there was a substantial difference in the subsequent crystallization into the hexagonal phase, reflecting the molecular characteristics, that is, MW distribution of each sample film. Rapid crystallization into the hexagonal phase occurred at the beginning point of the plateau stress region in melt‐drawing for metallocene‐catalyzed UHMW‐PE film. In contrast, gradual crystallization into the hexagonal phase occurred at the middle point of the plateau stress region for the Ziegler‐catalyzed film, suggesting an ease of chain slippage during drawing. These results demonstrate that the difference in the MW distribution due to the polymerization catalyst system dominates the phase development mechanism during melt‐drawing. The effect of the processing conditions, that is, the including strain rate and drawing temperature, on the melt‐drawing behavior is also discussed. The obtained results indicate that the traditional temperature–strain rate relationship is effective for transient crystallization in to the hexagonal phase during melt‐drawing, as well as for typically oriented crystallization during ultradrawing in the solid state. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Thermosensitive diethylene glycol‐derived poly(L ‐glutamate) homopolypeptides (i.e., poly‐L ‐EG2‐Glu) with different molecular weights (MW) (Mn,GPC = 5380–32520) were synthesized via the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of EG2‐L ‐glutamate N‐carboxyanhydride (EG2‐Glu‐NCA) in N,N‐dimethylformamide solution at 50 °C. Their molecular structure, conformation transition, liquid crystal (LC) phase behavior, lower critical solution temperature (LCST) transition, and morphology evolution were thoroughly characterized by means of FTIR, 1H NMR, gel permeation chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry, wide angle X‐ray diffraction, polarized optical microscope, transmission electron microscope, and dynamic light scattering. In solid state, the homopolypeptide poly‐L ‐EG2‐Glu presented a conformation transition from α‐helix to β‐sheet with increasing their MW at room temperature, while it mainly assumed an α‐helix of 80–86% in aqueous solution. Poly‐L ‐EG2‐Glu showed a thermotropic LC phase with a transition temperature of about 100 °C in solid state, while it gave a reversible LCST transition of 34–36 °C in aqueous solution. The amphiphilic homopolypeptide poly‐L ‐EG2‐Glu self‐assembled into nanostructures in aqueous solution, and their critical aggregation concentrations decreased with increasing MW. Interestingly, their morphology changed from spherical micelles to worm‐like micelles, then to fiber micelles with increasing MW. This work provides a simple method for the generation of different nanostructures from a thermosensitive biodegradable homopolypeptide. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Films composed of poly(l ‐lactide) (PLLA)/organophilic montmorillonite hybrids (PLACHs) have been prepared via a melt‐compounding process, which is followed by uniaxial drawing at 90°C in air. In addition, an enhancement of the mechanical properties of these drawn PLACH films, which is expected to differ depending on the drawn ratios, is also estimated by dynamic viscoelastic measurements. Three different organoclay concentrations in the hybrid of 3, 5, and 9 wt% were investigated. The structural parameters for the PLLA crystallites in the drawn films, such as the c‐axis orientation function (fPLLA) and crystallite size, were measured by X‐ray diffraction, and their drawn ratio (λ) and clay concentration dependence were examined from a textural viewpoint. Another orientation function (fclay) of the organoclay particles was obtained by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The values of fPLLA and crystallinity for PLLA sharply increased with λ for λ < 3, although fclay was unchanged during the initial stage of elongation. In the high‐λ region (>5), the organoclay particles in the PLACHs started orienting themselves parallel to the draw direction. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A film of nascent powder of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), compacted below the ambient melting temperature (Tm, 335 °C), was drawn by two‐stage draw techniques consisting of a first‐stage solid‐state coextrusion followed by a second‐stage solid‐state coextrusion or tensile draw. Although the ductility of extrudates was lost for the second‐stage tensile draw at temperatures above 150 °C due to the rapid decrease in strength, as previously reported, the ductility of extrudates increased with temperature even above 150 °C when the second‐stage draw was made by solid‐state coextrusion, reflecting the different deformation flow fields in a free space for the former and in an extrusion die for the latter. Thus, a powder film initially coextruded to a low extrusion draw ratio (EDR) of 6–20 at 325 °C was further drawn by coextrusion to EDRs up to ~?400 at 325–340 °C, near the Tm. Extremely high chain orientation (fc = 0.998 ± 0.001), crystallinity (96.5 ± 0.5)%, and tensile modulus (115 ± 5 GPa at 24 °C, corresponding to 73% of the X‐ray crystal modulus) were achieved at high EDRs. Despite such a morphological perfection and a high modulus, the tensile strength of a superdrawn tape, 0.48 ± 0.03 GPa, was significantly low when compared with those (1.4–2.3 GPa) previously reported by tensile drawing above the Tm. Such a low strength of a superdrawn, high‐modulus PTFE tape was ascribed to the low intermolecular interaction of PTFE and the lack of intercrystalline links along the fiber axis, reflecting the initial chain‐extended morphology of the nascent powder combined with the fairly high chain mobility associated with the crystal/crystal transitions at around room temperature. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The crystalline structure of polyamide‐12 (PA12) was studied by solid‐state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) as well as by synchrotron wide‐ and small‐angle X‐ray scattering (WAXS and SAXS). Isotropic and oriented PA12 showed different NMR spectra ascribed to γ‐ and γ′‐crystalline modifications, respectively. On the basis of the position of the first diffraction peak, the isotropic γ‐form and the oriented γ′‐form were shown to be with hexagonal crystalline lattice at room temperature. When heated, the two PA12 polymorphs demonstrated different behaviors. Above 140 °C, the isotropic γ‐PA12 partially transformed into α‐modification. No such transition was observed with the oriented γ′‐PA12 phase even after annealing at temperatures close to melting. A γ′–γ transition was observed here only after isotropization by melting point. Various structural parameters were extracted from the WAXS and SAXS patterns and analyzed as a function of temperature and orientation: the degree of crystallinity, the d‐spacings, the Bragg's long spacings, the average thicknesses of the crystalline (lc) and amorphous (la) phases, and the linear crystallinity xcl within the lamellar stacks. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(L ‐lactic acid)/poly(D ‐lactic acid) (PLLA/PDLA) blended with plasticizer poly(ethylene glycol) and nucleation agent TMC‐306 as‐spun fibers were prepared by melt spinning. The posttreatment was applied by hot drawing at 70°C and then heat‐treating at different temperatures for 30 minutes. In the process of hot drawing, orientation induced the further formation of the sc crystals and increased the degree of crystallinity of drawn fibers. When the hot drawing ratio reached 3 times, the properties of the fibers were relatively better. The highly oriented fibers containing pure sc crystals with high crystallinity were obtained by heat‐treating at a temperature above the melting point of α crystals. The posttreated PLLA/PDLA fibers with poly(ethylene glycol) and TMC‐306 (LDTP) obtained by hot drawing to 3 times at 70°C and then annealing at 170°C for 30 minutes exhibited the best antioxidative degradation and heat resistance properties. The initial decomposition temperature (T5%) and heat resistance of posttreated LDTP fiber were about 94°C and 20°C higher than those of the commercial PLLA fiber, respectively.  相似文献

Drawing of single-crystal mats of linear polyethylene has been investigated. Drawing is possible at temperatures higher than about 90°C. The drawing is accompanied by distinct necking, with a large decrease in the thickness of the mat and a very high maximum draw ratio, sometimes over 30. The maximum draw ratio is approximately proportional to the thickness of the lamellae. This behavior strongly suggests the unfolding of chains during drawing. A change of orientation of crystal axes occurs before necking without change of lamellar orientation. The a axis orients in the drawing direction; the b axis orients perpendicular to the direction of drawing; and the chain axis tilts away from the thickness direction of the mat. The structure of films drawn from mats is characterized by a distinct double orientation of crystals. This biaxial orientation in the drawn films has a high degree of correlation with the orientation of crystal axes observed before necking, and suggests that necking takes place in such a way that the chain tilts gradually about the b axis and ultimately unfolds. The postulate of formation of transitory two-dimensional crystals in necking seems useful in explaining the double orientation in the drawn film. The orientation behavior of crystal axes observed before necking is not always similar to that observed in the deformation of a single crystal. The difference is thought to be due to the effect of forces induced by drawing that act in the direction normal to the lamellae within a mat.  相似文献

A zone-drawing and zone-annealing treatment was applied to poly(p-phenylene sulfide) fibers in order to improve their mechanical properties. The zone-drawing (ZD) was carried out at a drawing temperature of 90°C under an applied tension of 5.5 MPa, and the zone-annealing (ZA) was carried out at an annealing temperature of 220°C under 138.0 MPa. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) thermogram of the ZD fiber had a broad exothermic transition (Tc = 110°C) attributed to cold-crystallization and a melting endotherm peaking at 286°C. The Tc of the ZD fiber was lower than that (Tc = 128°C) of the undrawn fiber. In the temperature dependence of storage modulus (E′) for the ZD fiber, the E′ values decreased with increasing temperature, but increased slightly in the temperature range of 90–100°C, and decreased again. The slight increase in E′ was attributable to the additional increase in the crosslink density of the network, which was caused by strain-induced crystallization during measurement. The resulting ZA fiber had a draw ratio of 6.0, a degree of crystallinity of 38%, a tensile modulus of 8 GPa, and a tensile strength of 0.7 GPa. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. This study presents a novel photothermal drawing of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET)/multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) fibers. The photothermal drawing was carried out using the near infrared laser‐induced photothermal properties of MWCNTs. An uniform fiber surface was obtained from a continuous necking deformation of the undrawn fibers, particularly at a draw ratio of 4 and higher. The breaking stress and modulus of the photothermally drawn PET/MWCNT fibers were significantly enhanced, in comparison to those of hot drawn fibers at the same draw ratio. The enhanced mechanical properties were ascribed to the increased orientation of PET chains and MWCNTs as well as PET crystallinity due to photothermal drawing. In particular, a significantly higher degree of orientation of the MWCNTs along the fiber axis was obtained from photothermal drawing, as shown in polarized Raman spectra measurements. The photothermal drawing in this study has the potential to enhance the mechanical properties of fibers containing MWCNTs. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part B: Polym.
