理论推导了双折射光纤环镜波长变化与轴向应变的公式,研究表明:双折射光子晶体光纤环镜轴向应变灵敏度比传统双折射光纤环镜大为减小。通过监测双折射光子晶体光纤环镜波长的变化,来实现轴向应变的测量就变得较为困难;且输出干涉光谱局部呈凹凸不平,波长监测容易导致数据测量误差。实验监测双折射光子晶体光纤环镜应变光谱,对应变光谱分析发现:随着应变增加,监测波峰下的绝对积分呈现减小的趋势。进一步精确计算分析发现:监测波峰下的绝对积分与应变成线性关系。基于此,提出了通过监测波峰下的绝对积分的变化,来实现轴向应变的测量。波峰下的绝对积分是表征各波长光强的综合性能指标,通过监测波峰下的绝对积分的变化,来实现轴向应变的测量,不仅可以克服双折射光子晶体光纤环镜监测波长变化的困难,而且还可以克服波长监测局部寻优导致的测量误差。  相似文献

The photonic band structure, mode field distribution, and leakage loss of different photonic crystal fibers are studied by the full vectorial plane wave expansion method and an extended beam propagation method. A comparison on the waveguiding mechanism is conducted among solid-core triangular-lattice PCF, air-core honeycomb PCF, and solid-core honeycomb PCF. For the latter two structures, which conduct light by the photonic bandgap effect, the advantages of down-doped solid-core honeycomb structure are demonstrated for its Gaussian-like mode field distribution and low leakage loss. A combined study on the leakage loss and band structure of solid-core honeycomb PCF has revealed the distinctive properties of photonic bandgap effect.  相似文献

Abstract

The fabrication process of photonic crystal fibers based on a stack-and-draw method is presented in full detail in this article. In addition, improved techniques of photonic crystal fiber preform preparation and fabrication are highlighted. A new method of connecting a handle to a preform using only a fiber drawing tower is demonstrated, which eliminates the need for a high-temperature glass working lathe. Also, a new technique of modifying the photonic crystal fiber structural pattern by sealing air holes of the photonic crystal fiber cane is presented. Using the proposed methods, several types of photonic crystal fibers are fabricated, which suggests potential for rapid photonic crystal fibers fabrication in laboratories equipped with and limited to only a fiber drawing tower.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel double-clad photonic crystal fiber (DC-PCF) is proposed for achieving both high birefringence and low leakage loss. According to numerical simulation of the proposed PCF, the extraordinarily high birefringence (over 2×10−2) and low leakage loss of the order of 0.0001 dB/km over a large wavelength range are achieved simultaneously. Single-polarization single-mode (SPSM) operation with low leakage loss is also discussed and can be realized and optimized in the PCF by adopting suitable structure parameters.  相似文献

A new type of the geometry of the elements of hexagonal-lattice photonic crystal shaped as the Wigner-Seitz cell is proposed. Dispersion curves of electromagnetic waves are calculated and the photonic crystal band gap characteristics are determined using the plane wave expansion technique. It is shown that the proposed geometry of the photonic crystal element leads to band gap widening. A simple method for fabricating prototypes using negative electron lithography is proposed.  相似文献

提出了一种通过横向压缩普通圆孔光子晶体光纤,得到双缺陷椭圆孔光子晶体光纤的方法.所提出的双缺陷光子晶体光纤具有高双折射率,采用全矢量有限元方法和各向异性介质完美匹配层方法对该光子晶体光纤的双折射特性和约束损耗特性进行了研究.理论模拟结果表明所提出的光子晶体光纤的双折射率可以达到10-2量级.  相似文献

<正>The flexible structure of photonic crystal fibre not only offers novel optical properties but also brings some difficulties in keeping the fibre structure in the fabrication process which inevitably cause the optical properties of the resulting fibre to deviate from the designed properties.Therefore,a method of evaluating the optical properties of the actual fibre is necessary for the purpose of application.Up to now,the methods employed to measure the properties of the actual photonic crystal fibre often require long fibre samples or complex expensive equipments.To our knowledge, there are few studies of modeling an actual photonic crystal fibre and evaluating its properties rapidly.In this paper,a novel method,based on the combination model of digital image processing and the finite element method,is proposed to rapidly model the optical properties of the actual photonic crystal fibre.Two kinds of photonic crystal fibres made by Crystal Fiber A/S are modeled.It is confirmed from numerical results that the proposed method is simple,rapid and accurate for evaluating the optical properties of the actual photonic crystal fibre without requiring complex equipment.  相似文献

A simple and efficient transmission line model is proposed here to study how the transmission characteristics of photonic crystal waveguides are tailored by introduction of stubs patterned in the photonic crystal lattice. It is shown that band-pass and band-stop optical filters can be easily designed and optimized when stubs of appropriate length are brought in. Since the lengths of the designed stubs are not necessarily integer multiples of the photonic crystal lattice constant, a geometric shift in a portion of the photonic crystal structure is shown to be essential. The proposed model is verified by using a rigorous numerical method. An excellent agreement is observed between the numerical results and the transmission characteristics as extracted by the proposed model.  相似文献

传统有效折射率方法只能模拟具有相同空气孔大小的单包层光子晶体光纤.针对这一问题,提出了一种改进的有效折射率法,能够计算具有不同孔径的多包层光子晶体光纤的传输特性.并用此方法对三包层光子晶体光纤的基模有效折射率和色散等特性进行了数值模拟,结果与多极法模拟出的结果符合得很好.这种改进的有效折射率法拓展了传统有效折射率法的适用范围,对快速准确地分析和设计具有不同传输特性的多包层光子晶体光纤提供了理论依据. 关键词: 光子晶体光纤 多包层 有效折射率方法 色散  相似文献

Photonic Crystal Circuits have been widely investigated for various optoelectronics device applications. And the gratings in photonics devices are indispensable tool, which is very common for light manipulation. In this study, an interference grating structure formed by Gaussian beam interferences in photonic crystal waveguide such that having Kerr type nonlinearity is proposed and its transmission characteristics are investigated. Finite-Difference Time-Domain method is used to analyze the device characteristics. According to simulation results, the interference grating has shown special transmission characteristics that can bring tunability for photonic crystal devices. This can be an effective method for controlling optical signals in the photonic crystal for all optical switching/routing applications as a part of add/drop multiplexing.  相似文献

In this paper, a plasma photonic crystal (PPC) for infrared radiation modulation which is composed of indium tin oxide (ITO) and plasma is proposed. The performance of plasma photonic crystal in near infrared radiation modulation is researched by transfer matrix method (TMM). The simulation results show that the near infrared radiation pass band can be adjusted by the changing of plasma frequency of plasma. The reflection to near infrared radiation by plasma photonic crystal increases with plasma frequency and that of absorption decreases. In addition, the modulation performance of the plasma photonic crystal at different incidence wave angles is also studied. The results show that the incident wave angles have little effect on the transmission of plasma photonic crystal in near infrared band. The reflection of the plasma photonic crystal to near infrared radiation decreases with increasing of the incident wave angle, but that of the absorption increases with the incident wave angle. Therefore, the proposed plasma photonic crystal has a potential application in tunable near infrared filter devices.  相似文献

By using a multipole moment approach, we analyze the loss of an air-core photonic crystal fiber and demonstrate that it is possible reduce the transmission loss that is due to photon radiation leakage through the photonic crystal cladding to a level below 0.01 dB/km, with eight rings of air holes. An analogy is drawn between air-core photonic crystal fiber modes and Bragg fiber modes. The influence of material absorption in the silica glass is discussed.  相似文献

The plane-wave-based transfer matrix method with rational function interpolation and higher-order plane-wave incidence is proposed as an efficient calculation approach to simulate three-dimensional photonic crystal devices. As an example, the dispersion relations and quality factors are calculated for resonant cavity arrays embedded in a woodpile photonic crystal. 为了解决光子晶体波导出射端光场控制, 同时解决二维三角晶格光子晶体波导出射光辐射困难的问题。利用二维三角晶格光子晶体设计了一种新型光子晶体波导出射口结构。在二维三角晶格光子晶体波导出射端引入两个微腔, 通过光波与微腔发生共振, 形成类似于三个点光源干涉的出射光, 同时进一步提出波导出射端喇叭口干涉出射光定向辐射的设计。通过这种微腔喇叭口设计, 利用时域有限差分法分析结果表明光波实现很好的定向辐射, 并且辐射距离显著提高。  相似文献

提出了一种调节液晶光子晶体光子带隙的方法。二维三角介质柱形光子晶体位于2块熔凝石英片之间,在介质柱之间填充各向同性排列的液晶,受偏振紫外光照射后,光诱导液晶分子定向排列,通过光诱导液晶分子取向改变液晶的折射率。数值模拟结果表明:通过外界光场控制所填充的向列相液晶分子的方向可以对这种二维三角形介质柱光子晶体的禁带结构进行调节。该可调光子晶体可控制波导中TM模和TE模的选择性传输,因而可应用于制作全光光开关。  相似文献

A novel harmonic detection theory and method for multi-component gas sensing based on photonic crystal waveguide (PCW) slow light is proposed. The PCW is used as gas chamber, and harmonic detection method was adopted for signal processing. This system could real-time and remote monitoring multi-component gases simultaneously with sensitivities increased by 10,278, 8650 and 6282 times respectively compared with system PCW not used. The proposed theory and method possesses powerful practicability and favorable application prospects. It could be also applied to other fluid concentration detection system, thus providing a new idea for expanding applications of slow light in sensing fields.  相似文献

The plane wave method is normally applied to determine the eigenfrequency of a two-dimensional (2D) photonic crystal. A slight change to this eigenvalue equation makes the wave number its eigenvalue providing a direct means to determine the attenuated length of the evanescent modes at the frequency within the photonic band gap. The contour of the length of attenuation of the evanescent modes in a square lattice can be determined using the proposed wave number eigenvalue equation. The wave number eigenvalue equation for the two-dimensional (3D) photonic crystal can also be obtained using a derivation similar to that for the 2D photonic crystal. Possible applications of the proposed calculation-method are presented.  相似文献
