We investigated the time variation of ultrasonic degassing for air-saturated water and degassed water with a sample volume of 100 mL at frequencies of 22, 43, 129, 209, 305, 400, 514, 1018, and 1960 kHz and ultrasonic power of 15 W. Ultrasonic degassing was evaluated by dissolved oxygen concentration. Ultrasonic degassing was also investigated at a frequency of 1018 kHz and ultrasonic powers of 5, 10, 15, and 20 W. The dissolved oxygen concentration varied with the ultrasonic irradiation time and became constant after prolonged ultrasonic irradiation. The constant dissolved oxygen concentration value depended on the frequency and ultrasonic power but not the initial dissolved oxygen concentration. The degassing rate at 101.3 kPa was higher in the frequency range of 200 kHz to 1 MHz. The frequency dependence of the degassing rate was almost the same as that of the sonochemical efficiency obtained by the potassium iodide (KI) method. Ultrasonic degassing in the frequency range of 22–1960 kHz was also investigated under reduced pressure of 5 kPa. Degassing was accelerated when ultrasonic irradiation was applied under reduced pressure. However, under a reduced pressure of 5 kPa, the lower the frequencies, the higher is the degassing rate. The sonochemical reaction rate was examined by the KI method for varying dissolved air concentrations before ultrasonic irradiation. Cavitation did not occur when the initial dissolved oxygen concentration was less than 2 mg·L−1. Therefore, the lower limit of ultrasonic degassing under 101.3 kPa equals 2 mg·L−1 dissolved oxygen concentration. A model equation for the time variation of dissolved oxygen concentration due to ultrasonic irradiation was developed, and the degassing mechanism was discussed.  相似文献

The degradation of paracetamol, a widely found emerging pharmaceutical contaminant, was investigated under a wide range of single-frequency and dual-frequency ultrasonic irradiations. For single-frequency ultrasonic irradiation, plate transducers of 22, 98, 200, 300, 400, 500, 760, 850, 1000, and 2000 kHz were employed and for dual-frequency ultrasonic irradiation, the plate transducers were coupled with a 20 kHz ultrasonic horn in opposing configuration. The sonochemical activity was quantified using two dosimetry methods to measure the yield of HO• and H2O2 separately, as well as sonochemiluminescence measurement. Moreover, the severity of the bubble collapses as well as the spatial and size distribution of the cavitation bubbles were evaluated via sonoluminescence measurement. The paracetamol degradation rate was maximised at 850 kHz, in both single and dual-frequency ultrasonic irradiation. A synergistic index higher than 1 was observed for all degrading frequencies (200 – 1000 kHz) under dual-frequency ultrasound irradiation, showing the capability of dual-frequency system for enhancing pollutant degradation. A comparison of the results of degradation, dosimetry, and sonoluminescence intensity measurement revealed the stronger dependency of the degradation on the yield of HO• for both single and dual-frequency systems, which confirms degradation by HO• as the main removal mechanism. However, an enhanced degradation for frequencies higher than 500 kHz was observed despite a lower HO• yield, which could be attributed to the improved mass transfer of hydrophilic compounds at higher frequencies. The sonoluminescence intensity measurements showed that applying dual-frequency ultrasonic irradiation for 200 and 400 kHz made the bubbles larger and less uniform in size, with a portion of which not contributing to the yield of reactive oxidant species, whereas for the rest of the frequencies, dual-frequency ultrasound irradiation made the cavitation bubbles smaller and more uniform, resulting in a linear correlation between the overall sonoluminescence intensity and the yield of reactive oxidant species.  相似文献

This paper shows a systematic study of the 500 kHz frequency ultrasound efficiency on the microbial inactivation as a function of ultrasonic power delivered into the bacterial suspension. The inactivation of Escherichia coli IAM 12058, a Gram-negative bacterium and Streptococcus mutans JCM 5175, a Gram-positive bacterium is enhanced by increasing the ultrasonic power in the range of 1.7–12.4 W and the logarithm of survival ratio decreases linearly with irradiation time, except for E. coli sonicated with the highest power level. The rate constants were estimated in the linear region of the plots representing survival ratio logarithm vs. sonication time. A better understanding of the inactivation process at 500 kHz could be gained by suppressing the chemical effects with a radical scavenger. We find out that the rate constants increase with the ultrasonic power delivered into the solution and dramatically decrease by the addition of t-butanol as a radical scavenger to the bacterial suspension. For comparison, experiments were carried out at a low frequency level of 20 kHz. It was found out that for the same ultrasonic power delivered into the bacterial suspension, the inactivation was slightly enhanced at 500 kHz frequency. The examinations of bacterium performed with a TEM revealed lethal damages arising from the interaction of bacterial cells with the cavitational bubbles. A significant amount of empty cell envelopes as well as their cytoplasmatic content was detected. Thus, based on these new data, the mechanism of bacterial inactivation by ultrasounds at high frequency is discussed here.  相似文献

We have previously reported on the morphological control of calcium carbonate by changing synthetic conditions such as temperature, pH and degree of supersaturation in liquid reaction. The present study reports the effect of amplitude and frequency of ultrasonic irradiation on the particle size of calcium carbonate using a horn type ultrasonic apparatus at two different frequencies. The calcium carbonate precipitated by mechanical stirring had a particle size of about 20 μm. By contrast, the particle size of vaterite formed under ultrasonic irradiation was about 2 μm, with a specific surface area of 25–30 m2/g. The major polymorph of calcium carbonate formed by ultrasonic irradiation was vaterite with some calcite present. For 40 kHz ultrasonic irradiation, the specific surface area of the calcium carbonate increased with increasing amplitude. The particle size of vaterite formed at this frequency was about 2 μm, and its distribution was sharper than that obtained at 20 kHz. The mode diameter of the synthesized vaterite was found to decrease with increasing amplitude at 40 kHz.  相似文献

Gas nuclei in water are usually too small to be directly observed. They will grow into bubbles under the negative pressure, which is called cavitation (heterogeneous cavitation). In this study, the gas nuclei in the hydrophilic and hydrophobic silica particle suspension were investigated using the transient cavitation threshold measured by a high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). The transient cavitation bubbles were also observed by a high-speed camera. The results showed that the nuclei only exist on the surface of hydrophobic particles. Furthermore, the aggregation experiments revealed that the aggregates were only formed in the hydrophobic silica suspension by ultrasonic standing waves (USW) at 200 kHz. This distinct difference was mainly due to the formation of gas nuclei on hydrophobic silica particles, which grew and coalesced into stable bubbles under the 200 kHz USW. The aggregation process in suspension was observed by a CCD camera. Moreover, the cavitation thresholds and acoustic radiation forces were analyzed to explain the mechanism of the acoustic aggregation. This study showed a very promising acoustic method for the selective aggregation of hydrophobic particles, which might be efficiently used in the mineral separation industry.  相似文献

The effects of ultrasonic frequency mode, power density, pretreatment time and other parameters under low power density on the degree of hydrolysis (DH) of defatted wheat germ protein (DWGP) and angiotensin-I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity of DWGP hydrolysate were studied in this research. Ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectra, free sulfhydryl (SH), disulfide bond (SS), surface hydrophobicity and hydrophobic protein content of ultrasound-pretreated protein and hydrophobic amino acid (HAA) content of alcalase-hydrolysate of DWGP were measured under optimized ultrasonic condition. The ultrasonic frequency mode with dual-fixed frequency combination of 28/40 kHz showed higher ACE inhibitory activity of DWGP hydrolysate compared with that of other ultrasound frequency modes and all the ultrasonic frequency combinations involving in 28 kHz showed higher ACE inhibitory activity. Under the dual-fixed frequency ultrasound mode of 28/40 kHz, ultrasonic power density of 60 W/L, pretreatment time of 70 min, temperature of 60°C and substrate concentration of 60 g/L, the ACE inhibitory activity of DWGP hydrolysate was the highest with its value of 74.75% (increased by 62.30% compared to control). However, all the ultrasonic pretreatment did not increase the DH of DWGP significantly (p > 0.05). The changes in UV–Vis spectra, SH and SS groups, surface hydrophobicity and hydrophobic protein content indicated that the structure of DWGP unfolded after ultrasound pretreatment. The HAA content of hydrolysate from the pretreated DWGP increased significantly (p < 0.05). The results proved that ultrasound pretreatment loosed the protein structure and exposed more HAA residues of protein to be attacked easily by alcalase. This resulted in the increase in the HAA content which related to the ACE inhibitory activity.  相似文献

The ultrasonic horn and bath reactors were compared based on production of angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitory peptides from defatted wheat germ proteins (DWGP). The DWGP was sonicated before hydrolysis by Alcalase. Degree of hydrolysis, ACE-inhibitory activity, surface hydrophobicity, fluorescence intensity, free sulfhydryl (SH), and disulfide bond (SS) were determined. The highest ACE-inhibitory activity of DWGP hydrolysate was obtained at power intensity of 191.1 W/cm2 for 10 min in the ultrasonic horn reactor. The fixed frequency of 33 kHz and the sweep frequency of 40 ± 2 kHz resulted in the maximum ACE-inhibitory activity. The combined irradiation of dual fixed frequency (24/68 kHz) produced significant increase in ACE-inhibitory activity compared with single frequency (33 kHz). The ultrasonic probe resulted in significant higher ACE-inhibitory activity compared with ultrasonic bath operating at single or dual fixed and sweep frequencies. The changes in conformation of the DWGP due to sonication were confirmed by the changes in fluorescence intensity, surface hydrophobicity, SHf and SS contents and they were found in conformity with the ACE-inhibitory activity in case of the ultrasonic horn reactor but not in bath reactor.  相似文献

The motion of a single water droplet in oil under ultrasonic irradiation is investigated with high-speed photography in this paper. First, we described the trajectory of water droplet in oil under ultrasonic irradiation. Results indicate that in acoustic field the motion of water droplet subjected to intermittent positive and negative ultrasonic pressure shows obvious quasi-sinusoidal oscillation. Afterwards, the influence of major parameters on the motion characteristics of water droplet was studied, such as acoustic intensity, ultrasonic frequency, continuous phase viscosity, interfacial tension, and droplet diameter, etc. It is found that when the acoustic intensity and frequency are 4.89 W cm−2 and 20 kHz respectively, which are the critical conditions, the droplet varying from 250 to 300 μm in lower viscous oil has the largest oscillation amplitude and highest oscillation frequency.  相似文献

In this study, the influence of multi-frequency ultrasound irradiation on the functional properties and structural characteristics of gluten, as well as the textural and cooking characteristics of the noodles were investigated. Results showed that the textural and cooking characteristics of noodles that contain less gluten pretreated by multi-frequency ultrasonic were ultrasonic frequency dependent. Moreover, the noodles that contain a smaller amount of sonicated gluten could achieve the textural and cooking quality of commercial noodles. There was no significant difference in the cooking and texture characteristics between commercial noodles and noodles with 12%, 11%, and 10% gluten pretreated by single-frequency (40 kHz), dual-frequency (28/40 kHz), and triple-frequency sonication (28/40/80 kHz), respectively. Furthermore, the cavitation efficiency of triple-frequency ultrasound was greater than that of dual-frequency and single-frequency. As the number of ultrasonic frequencies increased, the solubility, water holding capacity and oil holding capacity of gluten increased significantly (p < 0.05), and the particle size was reduced from 197.93 ± 5.28 nm to 110.15 ± 2.61 nm. Furthermore, compared to the control group (untreated), the UV absorption and fluorescence intensity of the gluten treated by multi-frequency ultrasonication increased. The surface hydrophobicity of gluten increased from 8159.1 ± 195.87 (untreated) to 11621.5 ± 379.72 (28/40/80 kHz). Raman spectroscopy showed that the α-helix content of all sonicated gluten protein samples decreased after sonication, while the β-sheet and β-turn content increased, and tryptophan and tyrosine residues were exposed. Through scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis, the gluten protein network structure after ultrasonic treatment was loose, and the pore size of the gluten protein network increased from about 10 μm (untreated) to about 26 μm (28/40/80 kHz). This work elucidated the effect of ultrasonic frequency on the performance of gluten, indicating that with increasing frequency combination increases, the ultrasound effect became more pronounced and protein unfolding increased, thereby impacting the functional properties and the quality of the final product. This study provided a theoretical basis for the application of multi-frequency ultrasound technology in the modification of gluten protein and noodle processing.  相似文献

An ultrasonic-assisted separation of alkali chloride (LiCl, NaCl, and KCl) salts have been carried out using of an hydrophobic ionic liquid membrane (ILM). The ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate and tributyl phosphate mixture have been used as ILM. An ultrasonic probe with different frequencies (25, 100, and 250) kHz have been applied as source of ultrasound generator with different times of sonication (2, 5, and 10) min in three phases system containing feed, ILM, and receiver in osmotic U-shaped tube. Also, 250, 500, and 1000 ppm of the feed (alkali chloride) concentration have been used to separate. The frequency of 250 kHz with higher sonication time provides optimum condition for separation of LiCl with lower feed concentration. The thermodynamic properties such as density and speed of sound and the related thermodynamic properties have been calculated to optimize ILM composition (xIL = 0.45) for ultrasound-separation.  相似文献

Organic compounds in aqueous solution submitted to an ultrasonic irradiation behave differently according to their physical and chemical properties. In this work, hydrogen peroxide formation and the degradation rate of phenol and carbon tetrachloride have been studied at different frequencies: 20, 200, 500 and 800 kHz. Whatever the frequency, it is easier to decompose CCl4 than phenol by means of ultrasonic wave. It is shown that the rates of reactions involving hydroxyl radicals (hydrogen peroxide formation and phenol degradation) have a maximum value at 200 kHz. The best yield observed at 200 kHz for the phenol degradation may be the result of better HO radicals availability outside of the bubble of cavitation. The degradation rate for carbon tetrachloride which decomposes into the bubble of cavitation increases with frequency. Calculating the reaction rate for one ultrasonic period shows that the efficiency of one ultrasonic cycle decreases as frequency increases.  相似文献

The effects of dual-frequency (40 + 20 kHz) and multi-angle ultrasound (0°, 30°, 45°) on the coagulation state, network structure, flavor and protein conformation of tofu gel were studied. The results showed that the gel flavor of 40 + 20 kHz 0° group was the best and fluorescence intensity was low. The gel flavor in the 40 + 20 kHz 30° group was better than the group without ultrasound, and hydrophobic interaction and disulfide bond content was the largest. Meanwhile, the degree of protein cross-link was increased. The gel in 40 + 20 kHz 45° group had tightly gel state, high thermal stability, but poor flavor. Combined with The Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS)-entropy weight method, the 40 + 20 kHz 30° group, was the best ultrasonic treatment of gel. It can change the interaction between proteins, promote protein cross-link, and form a uniform and dense gel network. Finally, the hardness and moisture content of finished tofu were increased significantly, and the quality was improved.  相似文献

Spherical SiO2 nanoparticles (SSNs) have been inventively synthesized using the Stöber method with sonication at medium–high frequencies (80, 120, and 500 kHz), aiming to control SSN size and shorten reaction time. Compared to the conventional method, such sonication allowed the Stöber reaction complete in 20–60 min with a low molar ratio of NH4OH/tetraethyl orthosilicate (0.84). The hydrodynamic diameters of 63–117 nm of SSNs were obtained under sonication with 80, 120, and 500 kHz of ultrasonic frequencies. Moreover, the SSNs obtained were smaller at 120 kHz than at 80 kHz in a multi-frequencies ultrasonic reactor, and the SSN size decreased with increasing ultrasonic power at 20 °C, designating the sonochemical unique character, namely, the SSN-size control is associated with the number of microbubbles originated by sonication. With another 500 kHz ultrasonic bath, the optimal system temperature for producing smaller SSNs was proven to be 20 °C. Also, the SSN size decreased with increasing ultrasonic power. The smallest SSNs (63 nm, hydrodynamic diameter by QELS, or 21 nm by FESEM) were obtained by sonication at 207 W for 20 min at 20 °C. Furthermore, the SSN size increased slightly with increasing sonication time and volume, favoring the scale-up of SSNs preparation. The mechanisms of controlling the SSN size were further discussed by the radical’s role and effects of ammonia and ethanol concentration.  相似文献

This study investigated the effects of ultrasonic frequency, ultrasonic power, irradiation height and temperature on the drying characteristics, quality and microstructure of wolfberry by ultrasonic-assisted far-infrared drying. By fitting five commonly used thin-layer drying mathematical models, it was found that the coefficient of determination (R2) of the Weibull model was 0.99400–0.99825, the root mean square error (RMSE) was 1.2162 × 10-4–4.5209 × 10-4, and the reduced chi-square (χ2) was 0.00207–0.00663, which was the best fit. Under the application of ultrasound, the average drying rate of wolfberry increased. Compared with natural drying, the polysaccharide content increased by 33.2 % at 250 mm irradiation height, and the total phenol content increased by 44.9 % at 40 kHz ultrasonic frequency. The antioxidant activity was the strongest, and the total flavonoids content was the highest (2.594 mg/g) at 24 W ultrasonic power. By comparing the microstructure of wolfberry under different drying methods, such as a fresh sample, natural drying, hot air drying, and ultrasonic-assisted drying, we found that the ultrasonic assistance increased the number of micropores on the surface of wolfberry, reduced the damage to epidermal cells, reduced the mass transfer resistance of the drying process and accelerated the drying process. This study shows that ultrasonic-assisted far-infrared drying technology played a significant role in the heat and mass transfer of wolfberry drying, and had great potential in the commercial processing of wolfberry.  相似文献

In this study, treatment of an antibiotic compound amoxicillin by medium-high frequency ultrasonic irradiation and/or ozonation has been studied. Ultrasonic irradiation process was carried out in a batch reactor for aqueous amoxicillin solutions at three different frequencies (575, 861 and 1141 kHz). The applied ultrasonic power was 75 W and the diffused power was calculated as 14.6 W/L. The highest removal was achieved at 575 kHz ultrasonic frequency (>99%) with the highest pseudo first order reaction rate constant 0.04 min−1 at pH 10 but the mineralization achieved was around 10%. Presence of alkalinity and humic acid species had negative effect on the removal efficiency (50% decrease). To improve the poor outcomes, ozonation had been applied with or without ultrasound. Ozone removed the amoxicillin at a rate 50 times faster than ultrasound. Moreover, due to the synergistic effect, coupling of ozone and ultrasound gave rise to rate constant of 2.5 min−1 (625 times higher than ultrasound). In the processes where ozone was used, humic acid did not show any significant effect because the rate constant was so high that ozone has easily overcome the scavenging effects of natural water constituents. Furthermore, the intermediate compounds, after the incomplete oxidation mechanisms, has been analyzed to reveal the possible degradation pathways of amoxicillin through ultrasonic irradiation and ozonation applications. The outcomes of the intermediate compounds experiments and the toxicity was investigated to give a clear explanation about the safety of the resulting solution. The relevance of all the results concluded that hybrid advanced oxidation system was the best option for amoxicillin removal.  相似文献

Herein, the synthesis of copper ferrite nanoparticles (CuFe2O4 NPs)/chitosan have been prepared by sonochemical route under ultrasonic irradiation bath at 40 kHz and 50 W. A high sensitive and stable modified electrochemical sensor was developed using a composition of copper ferrite nanoparticles coordinated with biopolymer through a facile ultrasound approach. Besides, power and frequency parameters are highly important for sonochemical synthesis and specifically structure, and size of the nanomaterials development during the ultrasonic irradiation time. In this work, ultrasonic bath was used to synthesis of CuFe2O4 nanomaterial at 40 kHz with 1 h. CuFe2O4/chitosan was characterized by FESEM, EDX, XRD and electrochemical methods. Furthermore, 8-hydroxyguanine is one of biomarker by oxidative stress. The concentrations of 8-hydroxyguanine within a cell are a measurement of oxidative stress in human body. Consequently, the measurement of 8-hydroxyguanine in blood serum samples with high specificity is of greatest importance. The CuFe2O4/chitosan modified electrode is displayed a low detection limit of 8.6 nM and long linear range (0.025–697.175 µM).  相似文献

The present study is aimed at enhanced production of a fibrinolytic enzyme from Bacillus sphaericus MTCC 3672 under ultrasonic stimulation. Various process parameters viz; irradiation at different growth phases, ultrasonication power, irradiation duration, duty cycle and multiple irradiation were studied for enhancement of fibrinolytic enzyme productivity. The optimum conditions were found as follows, irradiation of ultrasonic waves to fermentation broth at 12 h of growth phase with 25 kHz frequency, 160 W ultrasound power, 20% duty cycle for 5 min. The productivity of fibrinolytic enzyme was increased 1.82-fold from 110 to 201 U/mL compared with the non sonicated control fermentation. Drop in glucose concentration from 0.41% to 0.12% w/v in ultrasonicated batch implies that, ultrasonication increases the cell permeability, improves substrate intake and progresses metabolism of microbial cell. Microscopic images before and after ultrasonic stimulation clearly signifies the impact of duty cycle on decreasing biomass concentration. However, environmental scanning electron micrograph does not show any cell lysis at optimum ultrasonic irradiation. Offshoots of our results will contribute to fulfill the demand of enhancement of microbial therapeutic enzyme productivity, through ultrasonication stimulation.  相似文献

The current work deals with understanding the fundamental aspects of intensified recovery of lactose from paneer (cottage cheese) whey using the anti-solvent induced sonocrystallization. Ultrasonic horn (22 kHz) with varying power levels over the range of 40–120 W has been used for initial experiments at 100% duty cycle and two different levels of ultrasonic exposure time as 10 min and 20 min. Similar experiments were also performed using ultrasonic bath for the same time of exposure but with at two ultrasonic frequencies (22 kHz and 33 kHz). It was observed that the lactose recovery as well as purity increased with an increase in ultrasonic power at 100% duty cycle for the case of treatment time as 10 min whereas the lactose recovery and purity increased only till an optimum power for the 20 min treatment. In the case of ultrasonic bath, lactose purity increased with an increase in the ultrasonic frequency from 22 kHz to 33 kHz though the lactose recovery marginally decreased. Overall, it was observed that the maximum lactose recovery was ∼98% obtained using ultrasonic horn while the maximum lactose purity was ∼97%. It was also observed that maximum lactose recovery was ∼94% for the case of ultrasonic bath while the maximum lactose purity was ∼92%. The work has enabled to understand the optimized application of ultrasound so as to maximize both the lactose yield and purity during the recovery from whey.  相似文献

An ultrasonic-assisted technique was first introduced for the production of natural rubber latex foam (NRLF). The flexible elastomeric foam was formed by a liquid–solid state transformation in an aqueous media. The aim of the current research was to provide a novel strategy for fabricating NRLF using ultrasonication and the Dunlop method, as well as to simultaneously utilize irradiation events to achieve the desired foam properties. NRLFs were exposed to ultrasonication at 25 kHz at the beginning of the gelling process. The effects of irradiation times of 0, 1, 3, 5 and 7 min on the morphology, foaming behaviors, physical properties and mechanical performance of NRLFs were investigated. The results revealed that using ultrasonic irradiation, unfoamed regions and a bimodal structure, which seem to be microstructural defects in conventional NRLF, could be completely eliminated. However, excessive irradiation times of 5 min and longer appeared to affect the physico-mechanical properties of the foams in terms of transient cavitation and the unfavorable physicochemical effects of ultrasonic vibrations. As a result, the optimal ultrasonic irradiation time was found to be 3 min. Using this irradiation duration, a foam with the suitable microcellular structure achieved the most desirable properties, such as its expansion ratio (7-fold increase), foam porosity (85.7%), compression recoverability (98.7%), and tensile strength (307.3 kPa). Moreover, the foam still maintained its characteristic soft nature (hardness less than 100 N) with an indentation hardness of 71.9 N. Therefore, ultrasonic treatment introduced to the conventional Dunlop method is a potentially feasible technique since it improves the morphology and the physico-mechanical properties of NRLFs.  相似文献
