Here we present a new solution procedure for Helm-holtz and Laplacian Dirichlet screen and crack problems in IR2 via boundary integral equations of the first kind having as an unknown the jump of the normal derivative across the screen or a crack curve T. Under the assumption of local finite energy we show the equivalence of the integral equations and the original boundary value problem. Via the method of local Mellin transform in [5]-[lo] and the calculus of pseudodifferential operators we derive existence, uniqueness and regularity results for the solution of our boundary integral equations together with its explicit behaviour near the screen or crack tips. With our integral equations we set up a Galerkin scheme on T and obtain high quasi-optimal convergence rates by using special singular elements besides regular splines as test and trial functions.  相似文献

Both exterior and interior mixed Dirichlet-Neumann problems in R3 for the scalar Helmholtz equation are solved via boundary integral equations. The integral equations are equivalent to the original problem in the sense that the traces of the weak seolution satisfy the integral equations, and, conversely, the solution of the integral equations inserted into Green's formula yields the solution of the mixed boundary value problem. The calculus of pseudodifferential operators is used to prove existence and regularity of the solution of the integral equations. The regularity results — obtained via Wiener-Hopf technique — show the explicit “edge” behavior of the solution near the submanifold which separates the Dirichlet boundary from the Neumann boundary.  相似文献

The scalar problem of plane wave diffraction by a system of bodies and infinitely thin screens is considered in a quasi-classical formulation. The solution is sought in the classical sense but is defined not in the entire space ?3 but rather everywhere except for the screen edges. The original boundary value problem for the Helmholtz equation is reduced to a system of weakly singular integral equations in the regions occupied by the bodies and on the screen surfaces. The equivalence of the integral and differential formulations is proven, and the solvability of the system in the Sobolev spaces is established. The integral equations are approximately solved by the Bubnov-Galerkin method. The convergence of the method is proved, its software implementation is described, and numerical results are presented.  相似文献

In this paper, we apply the coupling of the boundary integral and finite element methods to study the weak solvability of certain nonmonotone nonlinear exterior boundary value problems. In order to convert the original exterior problem into an equivalent nonlocal boundary value problem on a finite region, we employ two different approaches based on the use of one and two integral equations on the coupling boundary. Existence of a solution for the associated weak formulation, and convergence properties of the corresponding Galerkin approximations are deduced from fundamental results in nonlinear functional analysis. Indeed, the main arguments of our proofs are based on a surjectivity theorem for mappings of type (S) and on the Fredholm alternative for nonlinear A-proper mappings.  相似文献

A boundary integral method is developed for the mixed boundary value problem for the vector Helmholtz equation in R3. The obtained boundary integral equations for the unknown Cauchy data build a strong elliptic system of pseudodifferential equations which can therefore be used for numerical computations using Galerkin's procedure. We show existence, uniqueness and regularity of the solution of the integral equations. Especially we give the local "edge" behavior of the solution near the submanifold which divides the Dirichlet boundary from the Neumann boundary  相似文献

We consider a three-dimensional boundary value problem for the Laplace equation on a thin plane screen with boundary conditions for the “directional derivative”: boundary conditions for the derivative of the unknown function in the directions of vector fields defined on the screen surface are posed on each side of the screen. We study the case in which the direction of these vector fields is close to the direction of the normal to the screen surface. This problem can be reduced to a system of two boundary integral equations with singular and hypersingular integrals treated in the sense of the Hadamard finite value. The resulting integral equations are characterized by the presence of integral-free terms that contain the surface gradient of one of the unknown functions. We prove the unique solvability of this system of integral equations and the existence of a solution of the considered boundary value problem and its uniqueness under certain assumptions.  相似文献

We consider a linear integral equation with a supersingular integral treated in the sense of the Hadamard finite value, which arises in the solution of the Neumann boundary value problem for the Laplace equation with the representation of the solution in the form of a doublelayer potential. We consider the case in which the exterior boundary value problem is solved outside a plane surface (a screen). For the integral operator in the above-mentioned equation, we suggest quadrature formulas of the vortex loop method with regularization, which provide its approximation on the entire surface when using an unstructured partition. In the problem in question, the derivative of the unknown density of the double-layer potential, as well as the errors of quadrature formulas, has singularities in a neighborhood of the screen edge. We construct a numerical scheme for the integral equation on the basis of the suggested quadrature formulas and prove an estimate for the norm of the inverse matrix of the resulting system of linear equations and the uniform convergence of the numerical solutions to the exact solution of the supersingular integral equation on the grid.  相似文献

This paper presents a solution procedure for three-dimensional crack problems via first kind boundary integral equations on the crack surface. The Dirichlet (Neumann) problem is reduced to a system of integral equations for the jump of the traction (of the field) across the crack surface. The calculus of pseudodifferential operators is used to derive existence and regularity of the solutions of the integral equations. With the concept of the principal symbol and the Wiener-Hopf technique we derive the explicit behavior of the densities of the integral equations near the edge of the crack surface. Based on the detailed regularity results we show how to improve the boundary element Galerkin method for our integral equations. Quasi-optimal asymptotic estimates for the Galerkin error are given.  相似文献

We consider initial boundary value problems for the homogeneous differential equation of hyperbolic or parabolic type in the unbounded two‐ or three‐dimensional spatial domain with the homogeneous initial conditions and with Dirichlet or Neumann boundary condition. The numerical solution is realized in two steps. At first using the Laguerre transformation or Rothe's method with respect to the time variable the non‐stationary problem is reduced to the sequence of boundary value problems for the non‐homogeneous Helmholtz equation. Further we construct the special integral representation for solutions and obtain the sequence of boundary integral equations (without volume integrals). For the full‐discretization of integral equations we propose some projection methods.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain a new system of canonical integral equations for the plane elasticity problem over an exterior circular domain, and give its numerical solution. Coupling with the classical finite element method, it can be used for solving general plane elasticity exterior boundary value problems. This system of highly singular equations is also an exact boundary condition on the artificial boundary. It can be approximated by a series of nonsingular integral boundary conditions.  相似文献

We consider numerical methods for solving inverse problems that arise in heart electrophysiology. The first inverse problem is the Cauchy problem for the Laplace equation. Its solution algorithm is based on the Tikhonov regularization method and the method of boundary integral equations. The second inverse problem is the problem of finding the discontinuity surface of the coefficient of conductivity of a medium on the basis of the potential and its normal derivative given on the exterior surface. For its numerical solution, we suggest a method based on the method of boundary integral equations and the assumption on a special representation of the unknown surface.  相似文献

Galerkin boundary element methods for the solution of novel first kind Steklov-Poincaré and hypersingular operator boundary integral equations with nonlinear perturbations are investigated to solve potential type problems in two- and three-dimensional Lipschitz domains with nonlinear boundary conditions. For the numerical solution of the resulting Newton iterate linear boundary integral equations, we propose practical variants of the Galerkin scheme and give corresponding error estimates. We also discuss the actual implementation process with suitable preconditioners and propose an optimal hybrid solution strategy.

We consider the scalar problem on the diffraction of a plane wave on a system of two screens with boundary conditions of the first and the second kind and a solid inhomogeneous body in the semiclassical setting. The original boundary value problem for the Helmholtz equation is reduced to a system of singular integral equations over the body domain and the screen surfaces. We prove the equivalence of the integral and differential statements of the problem, the solvability of the system of integral equations in Sobolev spaces, and the smoothness of its solutions. To solve the integral equations approximately, we use the Bubnov-Galerkin method; we introduce basis functions on the body and the screens and prove the consistency and convergence of the numerical method.  相似文献

We propose two new boundary integral equation formulas for the biharmonic equation with the Dirichlet boundary data that arises from plate bending problems in ℝ2. Two boundary conditions, u and ∂u/∂n, usually yield a 2 × 2 non-symmetric matrix system of integral equations. Our new formulas yield scalar integral equations that can be handled more efficiently for theoretical and numerical purposes. In this paper we supply complete ellipticity and solvability analyses of our new formulas. Numerical experiments for simple Galerkin methods are also provided. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

This article is concerned with the scattering of acoustic and electromagnetic time harmonic plane waves by an inhomogeneous medium. These problems can be translated into volume integral equations of the second kind – the most prominent example is the Lippmann–Schwinger integral equation. In this work, we study a particular class of scattering problems where the integral operator in the corresponding operator equation of Lippmann–Schwinger type fails to be compact. Such integral equations typically arise if the modelling of the inhomogeneous medium necessitates space-dependent coefficients in the highest order terms of the underlying partial differential equation. The two examples treated here are acoustic scattering from a medium with a space-dependent material density and electromagnetic medium scattering where both the electric permittivity and the magnetic permeability vary. In these cases, Riesz theory is not applicable for the solution of the arising integral equations of Lippmann–Schwinger type. Therefore, we show that positivity assumptions on the relative material parameters allow to prove positivity of the arising volume potentials in tailor-made weighted spaces of square integrable functions. This result merely holds for imaginary wavenumber and we exploit a compactness argument to conclude that the arising integral equations are of Fredholm type, even if the integral operators themselves are not compact. Finally, we explain how the solution of the integral equations in L 2 affects the notion of a solution of the scattering problem and illustrate why the order of convergence of a Galerkin scheme set up in L 2 does not suffer from our L 2 setting, compared to schemes in higher order Sobolev spaces.  相似文献

A new statement of a boundary value problem for partial differential equations is discussed. An arbitrary solution to a linear elliptic, hyperbolic, or parabolic second-order differential equation is considered in a given domain of Euclidean space without any constraints imposed on the boundary values of the solution or its derivatives. The following question is studied: What conditions should hold for the boundary values of a function and its normal derivative if this function is a solution to the linear differential equation under consideration? A linear integral equation is defined for the boundary values of a solution and its normal derivative; this equation is called a universal boundary value equation. A universal boundary value problem is a linear differential equation together with a universal boundary value equation. In this paper, the universal boundary value problem is studied for equations of mathematical physics such as the Laplace equation, wave equation, and heat equation. Applications of the analysis of the universal boundary value problem to problems of cosmology and quantum mechanics are pointed out.  相似文献

We develop the shape derivative analysis of solutions to the problem of scattering of time-harmonic electromagnetic waves by a penetrable bounded obstacle. Since boundary integral equations are a classical tool to solve electromagnetic scattering problems, we study the shape differentiability properties of the standard electromagnetic boundary integral operators. The latter are typically bounded on the space of tangential vector fields of mixed regularity T H-\frac12(divG,G){\mathsf T \mathsf H^{-\frac{1}{2}}({\rm div}_{\Gamma},\Gamma)}. Using Helmholtz decomposition, we can base their analysis on the study of pseudo-differential integral operators in standard Sobolev spaces, but we then have to study the Gateaux differentiability of surface differential operators. We prove that the electromagnetic boundary integral operators are infinitely differentiable without loss of regularity. We also give a characterization of the first shape derivative of the solution of the dielectric scattering problem as a solution of a new electromagnetic scattering problem.  相似文献

Nowadays boundary elemen; methods belong to the most popular numerical methods for solving elliptic boundary value problems. They consist in the reduction of the problem to equivalent integral equations (or certain generalizations) on the boundary Γ of the given domain and the approximate solution of these boundary equations. For the numerical treatment the boundary surface is decomposed into a finite number of segments and the unknown functions are approximated by corresponding finite elements and usually determined by collocation and Galerkin procedures. One finds the least difficulties in the theoretical foundation of the convergence of Galerkin methods for certain classes of equations, whereas the convergence of collocation methods, which are mostly used in numerical computations, has yet been proved only for special equations and methods. In the present paper we analyse spline collocation methods on uniform meshes with variable collocation points for one-dimensional pseudodifferential equations on a closed curve with convolutional principal parts, which encompass many classes of boundary integral equations in the plane. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for convergence and prove asymptotic error estimates. In particular we generalize some results on nodal and midpoint collocation obtained in [2], [7] and [8]. The paper is organized as follows. In Section 1 we formulate the problems and the results, Section 2 deals with spline interpolation in periodic Sobolev spaces, and in Section 3 we prove the convergence theorems for the considered collocation methods.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the problem of solving initial value problems and boundary value problems through the point of view of its continuous form. It is well known that in most cases these types of problems are solved numerically by performing a discretization and applying the finite difference technique to approximate the derivatives, transforming the equation into a finite-dimensional nonlinear system of equations. However, we would like to focus on the continuous problem, and therefore, we try to set the domain of existence and uniqueness for its analytic solution. For this purpose, we study the semilocal convergence of a Newton-type method with frozen first derivative in Banach spaces. We impose only the assumption that the Fréchet derivative satisfies the Lipschitz continuity condition and that it is bounded in the whole domain in order to obtain appropriate recurrence relations so that we may determine the domains of convergence and uniqueness for the solution. Our final aim is to apply these theoretical results to solve applied problems that come from integral equations, ordinary differential equations, and boundary value problems.  相似文献

The resolution of boundary value problems by integral equations is usually based on isomorphisms between the solution of the boundary value problem and boundary data. Using an abstract Green formula in a Hilbert space framework, we prove these isomorphisms. Many applications are given, like the Dirichlet and Neumann problems for the Laplace operator, as well as the clamped and free plate problems in the plane.  相似文献
