We experimentally demonstrated optical wireless power transfer(OWPT) using a near-infrared laser diode(LD)as the optical power transmitter.We considered a photovoltaic(PV) cell and a photodiode(PD) as the optical power receivers.We investigated the characteristics of the LD,PD,and PV cell in order to determine the optimum operating condition from the viewpoint of transfer efficiency.We also experimentally demonstrated a whole system optimization process to maximize the DC-to-DC transfer efficiency of the OWPT.Our experimental results showed that the optimization process can improve the OWPT efficiency by up to 48%.  相似文献

Experimental demonstration of a photonic-crystal-fiber optical diode   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Two cascaded hollow-core photonic-crystal fibers with slightly shifted, but still overlapping, transmission peaks are shown to function as an optical diode for ultra-short laser pulses. Submicrojoule 100-fs Ti:sapphire laser pulses with a spectrum falling within the passband of one of the fibers, but outside the passband of the second fiber, experience spectral broadening due to self-phase modulation in the first fiber. A part of this self-phase-modulation-broadened spectrum is then transmitted through the second fiber. Identical short pulses propagating in the opposite direction are blocked by the second fiber with a shifted passband. A forward-to-backward signal ratio exceeding 40 is achieved with the created photonic-crystal fiber diode for 0.9-J, 100-fs pulses of 800-nm Ti:sapphire laser radiation. This paper applies dolphin whistles to covert underwater acoustic (UWA) communication and proposes a UWA communication scheme based on M-ary bionic signal coding. At the transmitter end, the scheme maps multiple information bits into a dolphin whistle through a signal selector. At the receiver end, passive time reversal mirror (PTRM) is used for channel equalization and source information is restored according to the decision of which whistle is transmitted. The scheme has high spread spectrum gain. The anti multi-path performance is greatly improved when using PTRM. Different from traditional covert UWA communication methods, this mimicked signal is unlikely to alert an adversary even in high SNRs because of its real existence in marine environment. A tank experiment is conducted for the scheme, at communication rate of 50 bit/s with SNR −5 dB user information is recovered at a very low bit error rate. The results of tank experiment demonstrate the feasibility of this covert UWA communication scheme.  相似文献

The radio over fiber system that transmits different signals simultaneously for 30-GHz wireless and 1.25-Gb/s wired network is proposed. One sub-carrier of a double-sideband wireless signal is re-modulated by injection-locking technique using a Fabry-Perot laser diode (FP LD) to generate a wired signal. Since the condition of injection-locking varies with changes of the input optical power and the injected current of the FP LD, the BER performance of the wired signal is investigated according to the modulation depth of both the wireless and wired signals, respectively. The error-free transmission of both the wired signal and the wireless one are achieved after 23-km SSMF.  相似文献

Photorefractive BaTiO(3):Ce was used to combine coherently a signal beam and two amplified pump beams at lambda=678 nm. The master laser beam was split and then amplified in two semiconductor laser amplifiers with gain of as much as 6. The amplifiers were made from quantum-well laser chips by use of antireflection coating. 40% of the power could be transferred to the signal beam without transferring the phase distortions of the pump beams.  相似文献

We demonstrate a new method to measure weak birefringence of dielectric mirrors with excellent spatial resolution and sensitivity (<10-7 radians). We exploit a well-known optical feedback scheme for line-width narrowing and frequency locking of a diode laser to a high-finesse cavity. Feedback comes from the intracavity field which builds up at resonance, selected by its change in polarization with respect to the incident field. This change, due to the residual birefringence of the cavity mirror coatings, was already exploited for birefringence measurements using an active laser-locking scheme. Here we measure the optical feedback rate as a function of rotation angle of one of the cavity mirrors (around the cavity axis). A stable feedback signal is obtained since the laser, as soon as it locks to a cavity resonance, effectively behaves as a monochromatic source. By fitting the data with a theoretical expression, we determine quantitatively the local birefringence vectors of both mirrors, which are around 10-6 radians. Our scheme is simple, works with cavities of very high finesse (F∼105), and is promising for measuring birefringence in gases induced by external fields. This paper presents a technique for collimating a diverging beam from a laser diode using graded-index optical fiber. The optical set-up is relatively simple and easy to operate. The results show that laser beam of large divergent angle in the range of 10–35° can be reduced to a fully collimated beam with a divergent angle of less than 0.05°. We demonstrate experimentally all-optical stabilization of a single-mode laser diode subject to external optical feedback operating in the low-frequency fluctuations (LFF) regime, by the technique of applying a second delayed optical feedback. We interpret our results as suppression of LFF through destruction of the antimodes responsible for the LFF crises and stabilization of the laser through creation of new maximum gain modes, in agreement with recent theoretical predictions.  相似文献

A new method to count the expected value and variance of time dispersion is presented for time dispersion of underwater optical wireless communication.Instead of the typically used Gamma distribution,inverseGaussian distribution is suggested for underwater optical impulse response time waveform function.The expectation of this method is in good agreement with experimental data.Future works may include water absorption to the model.  相似文献

We report results of frequency stability measurements of an extended cavity diode laser (ECDL) whose frequency is stabilized by a non-evacuated scanning transfer cavity. The transfer cavity is locked to a commercial frequency stabilized helium–neon laser. Frequency stability is measured by use of an optical frequency comb. The environmental perturbations (variations of temperature, air pressure, and humidity) are also simultaneously measured. The observed frequency drift of the ECDL is well explained by environmental perturbations. An atmospheric pressure variation, which is difficult to control with a non-evacuated cavity, is mainly affected to the frequency stability. Thus we put the cavity into a simple O-ring sealed (non-evacuated) tube. With this simple O-ring sealed tube, the frequency drift is reduced by a factor of 3, and the Allan variance reaches a value of 2.4×10−10, corresponds to the frequency stability of 83 kHz, at the average time of 3000 s. Since the actual frequency drift is well estimated by simultaneous measurement of the ambient temperature, pressure, and humidity, a feed-forward compensation of frequency drifts is also feasible in order to achieve a higher frequency stability with a simple non-evacuated transfer cavity.  相似文献

An integrated mode converter consisting of two diffractive optical elements (DOEs) and a Silicon slab is presented for low-loss coupling between a semiconductor laser diode (LD) and a single-mode fiber (SMF). The phase structures of the DOEs are designed using iterative phase retrieval algorithm. We introduce a new far-field amplitude constraint into the iteration to provide very high mode conversion quality. Compared with previously published mode converters, the scheme is more universal because it’s applicable for any semiconductor LD. In simulation, coupling losses lower than 0.02 dB are predicted for all the discussed LDs with aspect ratios of the elliptical fields from 1 to 9. The requirements on axial displacement and rotation angle have been removed. The tolerance for 1-dB loss increment for lateral misalignment is 0.9 μm. And the coupling loss is insensitive to tilt angle.  相似文献

We demonstrate optical pulse switching and amplification based on simultaneous Raman and Kerr effects in a fiber-loop mirror. Stimulated Raman scattering is shown to play a dominant role in the transfer function of the loop with highly germania-doped fibers, in agreement with theoretical predictions. Optical switching of a 100-ps signal pulse with an amplification factor of 10 was demonstrated in a 20-mol.% GeO(2)-doped fiber.  相似文献

We have found that the optical power of a laser diode (LD) does not change with the injected light intensity that is modulated when its injection current is at some specific values. The amplitude of optical power change of the LD varies periodically with the increase of the injection current. It is made clear through theoretical analysis that these phenomena are caused by gain compression and interband carrier absorption of the LD that depend on longitudinal mode competition, bandgap-shrinkage effects, thermal conduction, and so on. Our experimental results make it easy to eliminate optical power change of LDs. We only need to choose a proper value of the injection current.  相似文献

 介绍了高功率激光二极管不同模式的失效机理,分析了激光二极管不同的寿命测试方法;在冷却水温20℃和实际工作温度下分别对封装的激光器进行了寿命测试。根据试验结果得出退化率,推算出准连续二极管激光器在水温20℃,电流90A,占空比为10%(500Hz,200μs)时,平均激光工作寿命为2.19×109次脉冲;冷却水温35℃时,其平均激光工作寿命下降为1.65×109次脉冲。由实验结果分析得出,高功率激光器封装工艺中的焊料沉积和多层焊接技术,以及工作环境温度是影响激光器可靠性和寿命的关键因素。  相似文献

通过以液氨为制冷工质的开式喷雾冷却系统,在相同实验条件下研究了二极管激光器(DL)热沉喷雾表面分别为光滑表面、均匀密排微孔、深孔和多孔表面结构时的冷却效果,实验结果表明:在热流密度达到300 W/cm2时,冷却表面温度均保持在28 ℃以内,适用于高热流密度下的DL热管理问题;喷雾表面均布微结构能显著强化喷雾冷却性能,当采用均匀密排多孔表面时,散热功率达511.5 W/cm2,对流传热系数为346 701.1 W/(m2℃),传热系数较光滑表面时提高了83.9%。  相似文献

 设计了一种基于相变冷却方式工作的大功率二极管激光器,该激光器的散热器是基于节流式喷射微槽道相变冷却的原理,使冷却液在微槽中的气化率达到了70%,大幅度提高了冷却效果,减小了冷却液流量,在同样制冷功率条件下,冷却液流量仅为水冷方式的1/10。利用相变冷却器进行了背冷式半导体激光器叠阵封装工艺的研究,采用复合热沉与AuSn硬焊料结合的新型封装工艺,完成了准连续3 kW叠阵的封装。实验测试表明,单元叠阵的输出功率达到3.01 kW,占空比10%,封装间距为1.3 mm,光谱宽度小于3.5 nm。最大功率输出时所需R134a冷却液的流量仅为110 mL/min。  相似文献
