We present a theoretical study of electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT) in a superconducting quantum circuit with a tunable V-shaped energy spectrum derived from two superconducting Josephson charge qubits coupled with each other through a superconducting quantum interference device. Using the density matrix formalism and the steady-state approximation, we obtain the analytical expressions of the first-order matrix element associated with the absorption and dispersion of the probe field for two different V-type schemes. Our results show that, for this superconducting quantum system, it is possible to realize a remarkable phenomenon that dynamic conversion between EIT and EIT with amplification without population inversion. Such a unique optical feature has potential applications in quantum optical devices and quantum information processing.  相似文献

Quantum communication with terahertz (THz) frequency signals has many advantages like reduced attenuation and scintillation effects in certain atmospheric conditions along with very high level of data security. In this work, we propose a scheme to realize Quantum Memory (QM) for efficient storage of terahertz (THz) frequency signals using Electromagnetically Induced Transparency (EIT) in an ultracold atomic medium of 87Rb Rydberg atoms prepared in a Two Dimensional Magneto Optical Trap (2D-MOT). The uniqueness of our scheme lies in the choice of the energy levels involved in the EIT process, all three of which have been chosen to be the Rydberg levels (enabling signal beam to be in THz) in a lambda type arrangement. This first of its kind proposal reveals that atomic media are a potential candidate for devising QMs which can store THz frequency signals. We have estimated that the Optical Depth (OD) in our scheme can reach a very high value of 690, very high maximum obtainable storage efficiency (η) of ~99%, the group velocity (vg) can be as low as 5.07 × 103 m/s, and the Delay Bandwidth Product (DBP) can be as high as 9.5. All of these estimates emphasize the feasibility of our scheme as a QM device for efficient storage of THz pulses.  相似文献

主要研究了室温下微波场缀饰的铯Rydberg原子的电磁感应透明-Autler-Townes(EIT-AT)光谱.首先,以铯原子6S_(1/2)→6P_(3/2)→50S_(1/2)形成阶梯型三能级系统,利用强耦合光作用于6P_(3/2)→50S_(1/2)的Rydberg跃迁,弱探测光耦合基态跃迁6S_(1/2)→6P_(3/2)并探测由耦合光形成的电磁感应透明(EIT)效应.然后,以频率为30.582 GHz的微波电场耦合相邻的Rydberg能级50S_(1/2)→50P_(1/2)产生微波AT分裂.利用Rydberg EIT探测微波耦合相邻Rydberg能级产生的AT分裂,形成EIT-AT光谱,进而实现微波电场的测量.当微波场的强度增加到一定值时,EIT-AT光谱表现为多峰光谱结构.分析EIT-AT多峰光谱的成因,发现这主要是由场的不均匀性导致的,一定的EIT-AT光谱特征对应于特定的非均匀场分布.研究表明,利用Rydberg EIT-AT光谱可以实现微波电场的测量,利用其光谱特征可实现微波场的实时监测,进而提出了一种提高微波场空间分辨率的测量方法.  相似文献

Slow light of four different pulses are demonstrated and analyzed in cesium vapor based on electromagnetically induced transparency. Each pulse, generated with an identical temporal width, experiences very different slow light effects due to its temporal and spectral distributions simultaneously. Aiming at the applications such as timing, instead of communication, we obtained two optimized ones among the four different shaped pulses. Firstly, the single-exponential pulse is more appropriate to maximize the time delay than other three pulses; secondly, the cosine pulse shows advantage to minimize the distortion (broadening) of the slowed pulse. Finally, using optical filter model, we present a convenient simulation method in theory; moreover, the theoretical results show excellent agreement with experiments.  相似文献

基于金纳米棒构成的三聚体微元结构模型,详细地研究了等离激元诱导透明(plasmon induced transparency,PIT)现象产生的物理过程.研究发现,三聚体的吸收谱线随着其耦合距离以及尺寸的变化,竖直金纳米棒所对应的偶极明模在平行双长条金纳米棒对应的暗模作用下会产生分裂.依据这一结果提出了一个新的物理解释,PIT现象的产生主要来自于竖直金纳米棒中偶极振荡的模式分裂后的相干叠加.同时,考虑到两个振子之间的耦合会伴随着一定的相位关联性,进而引入了耦合相位因子修正了洛伦兹振子耦合模型,解析地研究了耦合相位因子对吸收谱的调控作用和分裂明模之间的相干叠加效应对PIT效应的影响.这为在纳米尺寸范围设计人造原子、光开关、慢光效应等方面的应用提供了理论参考.  相似文献

We theoretically explore the tunability of optomechanically induced transparency(OMIT) phenomenon and fast–slow light effect in a loop-coupled hybrid optomechanical system in which two optical modes are coupled to a common mechanical mode. In the probe output spectrum, we find that the interference phenomena OMIT caused by the optomechanical interactions and the normal mode splitting(NMS) induced by the strong tunnel coupling between the cavities can be observed. We further observe that the tunnel interaction will affect the distance and the heights of the sideband absorption peaks. The results also show that the switch from absorption to amplification can be realized by tuning the driving strength because of the existence of stability condition. Except from modulating the tunnel interaction, the conversion between slow light and fast light also can be achieved by adjusting the optomechanical interaction in the output field. This study may provide a potential application in the fields of high precision measurement and quantum information processing.  相似文献

Optical nanofiber (ONF) is a special tool to achieve the interaction between light and matter with ultralow power. In this paper, we demonstrate V-type electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in cold atoms trapped by an ONF-based two-color optical lattice. At an optical depth of 7.35, 90% transmission can be achieved by only 7.7 pW coupling power. The EIT peak and linewidth are investigated as a function of the coupling optical power. By modulating the pW-level control beam of the ONF-EIT system in sequence, we further achieve efficient and high contrast control of the probe transmission, as well as its potential application in the field of quantum communication and quantum information science by using one-dimensional atomic chains.  相似文献

Frequency-switchable microwave signals are optically generated using a dual-wavelength single-longitudinal-mode erbium-doped fiber ring laser. The splitting of the resonance peak is observed in fiber grating-based Fabry-Perot (F-P) filters depending on the injected light polarization states. Choosing two different resonance peaks of the grating-based F-P filter and using a variable saturable absorber formed by a section of incompletely transparent erbium-doped fiber, wavelength-switchable dual-wavelength single longitudinal-mode operation is achieved in the fiber ring laser. Microwave frequency switched among 8.75, 21.25 and 25.4 GHz is implemented by feeding the output laser to a high-speed photodetector.  相似文献

We present a detail analysis of the line shape of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in a Doppler broadened five level atomic system based on density matrix formalism. It has been shown that the velocity averaged EIT line shape in a multilevel system is very sharp. The effect of the ground state decay rates on the EIT peak has also been investigated. The linear and non-linear variations of the EIT line width (FWHM) for different pump and probe power ratios are shown. Considering the D2 transition of 85Rb atom the dependence of EIT width and height on pump power has been experimentally measured. Simulated spectra are compared with the experimentally obtained one. The effect of buffer gas on the EIT peak has also been observed experimentally as well as theoretically.  相似文献

Using the Schrödinger-Maxwell equations, we theoretically investigate the propagation properties of a transverse acoustic wave in a crystal of molecular magnets in the presence of two strong ac resonant magnetic fields and a weak acoustic wave. The acoustic wave can freely propagate in the magnetic molecule medium (under appropriate conditions) due to quantum interference. Furthermore, using the slowly varying envelope approximation, we discuss the propagation equation of the acoustic wave, which includes the high order nonlinear term. The results show that a crystal of molecular magnets can support the propagation of acoustic wave solitons via electromagnetically induced transparency. We also obtain the analytical expressions for the phase shift and absorption coefficient of the acoustic wave within certain parameters.  相似文献

We study stable propagation of multiple shape-preserving optical pulses in an inhomogeneously broadened multi-level atomic medium. By analytically solving the Maxwell-Schr?dinger equations governing the evolution of N coupled optical fields and atomic amplitudes we show that N pulsed optical waves coupling to (N+1)-levels can be automatically matched with the same soliton waveform and identical yet very slow propagation velocity. Several sets of coupled soliton solutions for two different (N+1)-level models are given and their stability is studied by using a numerical simulation.  相似文献

The effects of spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) and phases of optical fields on the phenomenon of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) are investigated in a four-level inverted-Y system and in a five-level K-type system under various parametric conditions in order to demonstrate controllability of the EIT, dispersion properties, and group velocity in such systems. Non-zero second-order susceptibility in both systems is due to the SGC effect. The experimental viability of the model in semiconductor quantum well systems is also discussed.  相似文献
