通过对二维正方晶格光子晶体线缺陷模色散曲线慢光特性的研究, 利用外电场对液晶分子取向的调控作用, 在填充液晶的正方晶格波导的马赫-曾德尔干涉仪结构中实现了开关和强度调制等功能. 利用平面波展开法计算了光子晶体波导的线缺陷模, 分析了液晶折射率的变化对缺陷模的影响. 计算表明, 液晶折射率仅改变了0.1, 线缺陷模有效折射率改变达0.168, 该特性可以更为有效地实现对相位的控制, 进而实现高消光比开关和强度调制功能, 这种高效的相位调节器件在集成光系统中将有很好的应用前景.  相似文献

等离子体填充到一维介质-真空微波光子晶体的缺陷层构成一种可调谐单通道滤波器.据等离子体的强色散特性,其等效折射率与电磁波频率及等离子体频率等参数有关,因而可以通过改变等离子参数,使一维微波光子晶体缺陷层的谐振频率发生偏移,实现微波光子晶体的可调谐滤波特性.介质层和等离子体层分别采用了时域有限差分(FDTD)算法及分段线性电流密度卷积时域有限差分(PLJERC-FDTD)算法.数值模拟表明,通过改变等离子体频率可以实现滤波通道在光子禁带内较大带宽范围的移动. 关键词: 等离子体 微波光子晶体 可调谐滤波  相似文献

This paper is mainly concerned with the investigation of negative refraction phenomenon dependent on the background refractive index in 2D photonic crystal, which consists of a hexagonal lattice of circular dielectric rods with Si. The paper presents the relationship between background refractive index and negative refraction. The relationship is investigated by using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method on software RSoft. The results point out that the output power is added with the increase of the background refractive index. With the research, a new fluid refractive index detection method is proposed. Compared with other normal liquid refractive index analyzer reported, this detector has advantages of faster detection, less stray light interference and miniaturization.  相似文献

本文研究了硅柱在MnFe2O4磁性液体背景中排列成六边形结构的二维光子晶体的可调谐负折射特性. 利用平面波展开法和时域有限差分法理论研究了硅柱-磁性液体体系二维光子晶体的带隙结构、等频曲线和负折射现象随外磁场强度的变化关系. 模拟结果表明, 硅柱-磁性液体体系二维光子晶体工作在TE模式时, 其负折射特性可由外磁场调节. 在固定背景溶液的磁性颗粒体积分数和入射光频率时, 所研究的折射光束的偏转角和光子晶体的负折射率绝对值随外磁场的增大而增大, 而在固定背景溶液的磁性颗粒体积分数和外磁场强度时, 负折射角和负折射率的绝对值随入射光归一化频率增大而减小. 固定外场强度和入射光频率时, 所研究结构的负折射特性随背景溶液的磁性颗粒体积分数增大而变弱.  相似文献

针对蓝相液晶显示器中的暗态漏光特性, 采用时域有限差分方法模拟计算了胆甾相液晶的平面态和焦锥态以及蓝相II态液晶的透射和反射特性, 得到了它们在正交和平行偏振片之间的漏光, 并提出了计算等效旋光能力的公式以比较它们的旋光能力. 通过对比焦锥态和蓝相液晶的旋光能力和漏光特性发现, 采用焦锥态替代蓝相液晶而得到良好的暗态特性是一种可行的方法. 通过研究它们的布拉格反射特性, 得知蓝相液晶的布拉格反射与平面态相似, 但反射强度小, 焦锥态无明显的布拉格反射特性.  相似文献

We propose a backlight system for a vertical-field-switching blue phase liquid crystal display. Because the blue phase liquid crystal display needs an oblique incident light source of a backlight system, we designed the backlight system that consisted of a light guide plate and a specially designed prism film. We simulated the backlight system by optical software (TraceProTM) and the performance of the blue phase liquid crystal display by liquid crystal software (TechWiz). The result showed that the contrast ratio of the blue phase liquid crystal display can be over 2000 and the uniformity was 86%. The designed applicable backlight system will be illustrated in the vertical field switching blue phase liquid crystal display.  相似文献

An efficient compact-2D finite-difference time-domain method is presented for the numerical analysis of guided modes in waveguides that may include negative dielectric permittivity, negative magnetic permeability and negative refractive index materials. Both complex variable and real variable methods are given. The method is demonstrated for the analysis of channel-plasmon-polariton guided modes in triangular groves on a metal surface. The presented method can be used for a range of waveguide problems that were previously unsolvable analytically, due to complex geometries, or numerically, due to computational requirements of conventional three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain methods. A three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain algorithm that also allows analysis in the presence of bound or free electric and equivalent magnetic charges is presented and an example negative refraction demonstrates the method.  相似文献

This is a report on an effective simulation method for the bending loss analyses of photonic crystal fibers. This method is based on the two-dimensional finite-difference time-domain algorithm and a conformal transformation of the refractive index profile. We observed the temporal dynamics of light waves in a bent fiber in a simulation and obtained the bending loss as a function of bend radius and optical wavelength for the commercial photonic crystal fibers. The accuracy of this method was verified by good agreement between the simulation and experimental data.  相似文献

Due to the fact that it is possible to manipulate light with photonic crystals (PCs), PCs hold a great potential for designing new optical devices. There has been an increase in research on tuning the optical properties of PCs to design devices. We presented a numerical study of optical properties of metamaterial-based devices by liquid crystal infiltration. The plane wave expansion method and finite-difference time-domain method for both TE and TM modes revealed optical properties in photonic crystal structures in an air background for a square lattice. E7 type has been used as a nematic liquid crystal and SrTiO3 as a ferroelectric material. We showed the possibility of the metamaterials for a two-dimensional photonic crystal cavity on a ferroelectric base infiltrated with a nematic liquid crystal.  相似文献

探讨了利用普通光谱型椭偏仪对各向异性液晶层进行综合性测量的可行性. 并利用法国Jobin Yvon公司的UVISEL SPME(Spectroscopic Phase Modulated Ellipsometer)光谱型椭偏仪测量了光学各向异性液晶层的折射率no和ne及液晶层厚d,进一步利用椭偏仪在透射方式下测量了平行排列液晶层的光延迟特性Δnd,二者取得了很好的一致性,说明利用光谱型椭偏仪可以实现对光学单轴性液晶层及其他材料的测量,测厚精度为纳米量级. 关键词: 光谱型椭偏仪 各向异性 折射率 相位延迟  相似文献

This paper presents a novel in-plane photonic crystal channel drop filter.The device is composed of a resonant cavity sandwiched by two parallel waveguides.The cavity has two resonant modes with opposite symmetries.Tuning these two modes into degeneracy causes destructive interference in bus waveguide,which results in high forward drop efficiency at the resonant wavelength.From the result of numerical analysis by using two-dimensional finite-difference time-domain method,the channel drop filter has a drop efficiency of 96% and a Q value of over 3000,which can be used in dense wavelength division multiplexing systems.  相似文献

在传统的基于全内反射原理的低折射率比介质波导所构建的相位移调制型光学器件中,调制区域的长度通常在毫米到厘米量级.由于器件横向尺寸保持在微米量级,因此狭长结构成为了传统光波导器件的典型特征,这限制了光学器件集成度的提高,严重制约了集成光路的进一步发展.光子晶体的出现为高密集成光路的发展提供了一条新的途径.本文使用平面波展开方法计算了光子晶体线缺陷波导中的色散曲线.研究发现:在色散曲线下边缘处,材料折射率的一个微小变化可以引起传输常数的较大变化,如果工作频率点选择在带下边缘附近,则可以大幅度减小相位移调制型器件调制区域的长度.本文使用时域有限差分方法进一步验证这种增强效应,计算结果表明,对于0.46%的折射率变化,光子晶体线缺陷波导中的相位调制长度仅为均匀媒质中相位移调制长度的11.7%.通过以进一步研究,这种增强效应有望应用与高密度集成光路.  相似文献

We design an ultra-fast terahertz wave switch based on T-shape photonic crystal waveguide. The polymer rod is added in the junction as a point defect, the refractive index of which can be varied by adjusting the external pump laser intensity. The transmission spectrum is calculated by finite-difference time-domain method, which shows that the output energy of the two output ports is closely related to the refractive index of the polymer rod. By continuous wave excitation of the guided mode, the simulation results show that the T-shaped photonic crystal waveguide can flexibly tune the power in two output ports. The tuning rate of the device is about 0.3 ns. These results provide a useful guide and a theoretical basis for the developments of terahertz wave functional components.  相似文献

We propose using a slotted photonic crystal nanobeam to construct a microring resonator. The transmission characteristics of the slotted photonic crystal nanobeam and the microring resonator are demonstrated by two-dimensional finite-difference time-domain simulation, and the mechanism of these characteristics is analyzed considering the introduction of the slot. The refractive index sensitivity of the slotted photonic crystal microring resonator is evaluated to be larger than those of a slot waveguide microring resonator and a nonslotted photonic crystal microring resonator.  相似文献

Electric field distribution is an important parameter for nanostructure arrays in nanobiosensing appfications. It can influence the sensitivity and the resolution of nanobiosensors. We focus on the effect of media on the electric field distribution of a rhombic silver nanostructure array. The finite-difference time-domain algorithm- based numerical calculation method is used to monitor the electric field distribution of the silver nanostructures when the refractive index of the medium around the nanostructure array is changed. The calculated results show that tuning the refractive index of the medium around silver can have a considerable influence on the electric field distribution in the reflection and transmission directions. This effect can be used to increase the extinction efficiency and to improve the resolution of the spectra for nanobiosensing.  相似文献

We present an efficient numerical technique to simulate the third order Kerr effect in wavelength scale dielectric structures by expanding upon the eigenmode expansion method. A two-dimensional spatial grid models the intensity dependent refractive index. By performing an iteration of linear eigenmode calculations, this index grid converges to the rigorous continuous-wave nonlinear solution. Because the underlying eigenmode tool is bidirectional, feedback effects such as bistability can be calculated. We describe the influence of grid size, quantitative agreement with the literature and a photonic crystal switch. The differences with other methods, such as finite-difference time-domain and beam propagation method, are discussed.  相似文献

In this paper we report on the modeling of low index contrast silica glass 90° bend ridge waveguides assisted by a two-dimensional photonic crystal. A three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (3D-FDTD) based computer code has been used in order to evaluate the transmission characteristics and the in-plane losses of the investigated waveguides having different values of the bend radius. The performance of the bend structure surrounded by two-dimensional photonic crystals is compared to that of a classical bend ridge waveguide and the phenomenon of light confinement is critically analyzed. The device design is optimized for quasi-TM polarization at the wavelength of 1.3 μm.  相似文献

A structure of active planar metallic-dielectric array is proposed to manipulate the propagation of light beam by tuning the phase of output light. The dielectric in the array is set as an electro-optical material so that the refractive index can be changed by applied voltage based on the electro-optical effect. While the light propagates through the array, the surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are excited and the waveguide modes with variant propagation constants are formed in the dielectric regions to provide desired phase retardations. The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is used to numerically simulate the tunable phase characteristic of output light. The results show that, by adjusting the applied voltage on the dielectric regions, the angle compensation and beam focusing phenomena can be easily implemented, and the tunability of focal length is investigated in detail as an example. It is helpful for the design of actively-controlled plasmonic devices.  相似文献

In this paper, we use the theory of spontaneous emission of two-level atoms embedded in photonic crystals. The unavoidable existence of a localized field with a defect mode and its basic properties are confirmed, which enables one to study the inherent laws of spontaneous emission from doped media. We combine the theory of spontaneous emission with numerical simulation for studying stimulated emission in a doped localized field and conditions for increasing the emission. The inherent laws for the cases where transmissivity is larger than unity and the negative imaginary part of the complex refractive index in doped compound lattices appears are also studied. The analysis of two-dimensional nested rectangle photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) with and without active impurities was performed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. We find that, when active impurities are introduced into photonic crystal fibers, the negative imaginary part of the complex refractive index appears and the doped mode with high quality factor and great mode density occurs in the photonic forbidden band, thus amplifying substantially the stimulated emission.  相似文献
