Summary 1. The dry rhizomes ofNuphar luteum L. have yielded three sulfur-containing alkaloids: two — thiobinupharidine and neothiobinupharidine — were known substances, the third with composition C₃₀H₄₂O₄N₂S being new and having been given the name of nuphleine.2. Structure of alkaloid L-5 fromColchicum luteum

Conclusions FromColchicum luteum Baker collected in the gorge of the Sazan-Ata River in the Chimkent region have been isolated the known alkaloids colchamine, 3-desmethylcolchamine, 3-desmethyl--lumicolchicine, colchicine, 2-desmethylcolchicine, -lumicolchicine, N-desacetyl-N-formylcolchicine, and luteidine, and the new alkaloids L-5 and L-6. The first three bases have been obtained from this plant for the first time.Paper chromatography showed the presence of another three new alkaloids with R _f 0.38, 0.40, and 0.86. On the basis of UV, IR, and NMR spectroscopy and chemical reactions, the structure of 2-desmethylcolchiceine has been proposed for the alkaloid L-5.Khimiya Prirodnykh Soedinenii, Vol. 6, No. 1, pp. 82–88, 1970     

Alkaloids ofPetilium eduardi

Summary 1. Imperialine, imperialone, peimisine, and the new alkaloids edpetiline, eduardine, edpetilidine, and edpetilidinine have been isolated from the epigeal part ofP. eduardi.2. The hydrolysis of edpetiline has given D-glucose and imperialine.3. Alkaloids ofHaplophyllum dubium

From the epigeal part ofHaplophyllum dubium we have isolated dubamine, -fagarine, skimmianine, graveoline, haplopine, the new alkaloid norgraveoline, and the steroid -sitosterol. This is the first time that -fagarine has been found in this plant. On the basis of the results of a study of spectral characteristics and also passage to the known alkaloid graveoline, it has been established that norgraveoline has the structure of 2-piperonyl-4-quinolone.Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances, Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR, Tashkent. Alkaloids ofAndrachne rotundifolia

Summary 1. The content of total alkaloids in the hypogeal parts ofAndrachne rotundifolia C. A. Mey. (family Euphorbicease) is 0.2–0.3% and in the epigeal parts 0.06–0.08%.The total alkaloids in both the hypogeal and the epigeal parts ofAndrachne rotundifolia consist of five or six non-phenolic bases.2.
